Opinions de The Kebab Factory Monover
Incredible food. We went during a slow time on a Sunday afternoon and were charmed by everything about this place. The service, atmosphere, and food were all exceptional. We’ll definitely be coming back
They call it a factory—but it is, really, a home. I’ve had to make home out of a lot of places. Bridges burned, paths forged, enemies made. They say home is where the heart is—but how can the heart be so abundant? How can home be so fleeting? Rumi describes the heart as being an outward flower drawing in, and I certainly felt the Factory drawing me in from across Kirkland Street. Buzzing, whirring, lifting my feet. The desire to eat and be fed is a prayer I live daily, but … daily I am broken by the demands of our increasingly discordant governmental system, unfair taxes, my sister’s ethically non-monogamous relationships, and a NON-FUNCTIONING sewer system. The Kebab Factory’s sewer system, however, was a sigh of relief. (Literally.) In a world full of meaningless pleasantries, I was immensely comforted to feel the proprietor’s warm arms around my shoulders—a safe haven, a bed of feathers for a small gosling. I have always found silence to be life’s greatest consolation. The Kebab Factory does not mar your ears with that contemporary dribble they call “music”; it invites you, instead, to look inward. When words mean nothing, actions deafen. I have some dietary restrictions, such as a terrible allergy that I do not feel comfortable talking about publicly, but the bathrooms provided the relief I needed. Plenty of seating around the restaurant, as well as in the restroom, which my sister would appreciate, given her poorly maintained boundaries. She has three attractive partners who joined us for the meal. (Desario, Alek, and Jacob, whom I love and cherish.) It’s difficult to see her continually not advocate for her needs and be subsumed by the passions of her lovers qua roommates. It’s too much for her. The world is too much for her. How can you love someone and still say you need them to change? Desario is adamant about always having a biryani on the table, even when they provide rice. I often get overwhelmed by having so much rice on the table (a fear I inherit from my father), but the Factory really delivered on portions and quality. Alek springs for mango lhassi, which wasn’t available, but the waiter provided a lovely wine list instead! Jacob and I had some delicious imported beers and commiserated over yet another round of increased taxes. When I see my sister, I see myself. (That’s because we’re twins.) As Rumi said, mirrors are not reality, they are reflections of another world—a world where I am enough, where one of my sister’s uniquely handsome partners would be enough. Where low taxes would be enough. At least, for now, the garlic naan was enough.
Excellent lunch buffet available on Friday and weekends. Simple dishes cooked with rich flavor. Chicken and lamb were wonderfully tender, and they bring a heaping pile of naan fresh from the oven right to your table. The tea and rice pudding were also great. It’s a hole in the wall spot, which probably accounts for the lower Google rating, but it’s some of the best Indian cooking in Somerville/Cambridge.
Love the samosas and supporting small businesses. I can tell it’s family run because it’s just a grandpa and someone else. Plate could’ve been a bit cleaner but good affordable food!
Amazing, freshly prepared food. The kebabs were fantastic and so were the chaat items. Service was a tad bit slow, but that was totally fine given the food quality.
This is a really nice neighborhood spot for delicious Indian food. The restaurant is quiet and the service is always friendly. We sometimes dine in but also enjoy their takeout service. The menu has a great selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. Recently, my husband and I ate dinner here at the tables on the sidewalk. My husband inadvertently left his phone at the table, and the restaurant staff were kind enough to bring it inside and hold onto it until we could come pick it up
Update: The place changed ownership and the food is amazing. Dined for their Buffet on sunday. Its 15.99++. The food tastes really really good. There is variety of items and the behavior of employees are also good. I would disregard all the bad review. I am not paid and was pleasantly surprised after dined. Nov 2021: Their food was good but I would say that the price was a bit on the upper side. The buffet runs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday only. And it's $17.95. Don't get fooled by the old reviews! The items were I would say limited but they were tasty.
awesome staff. personally, I think the food is off the charts. Garlic naan alone is worth a visit. my friend highly recommends the lamb kebabs. visiting with a friend with a brain tumor and they were incredibly accommodating. when he had trouble with things we take for granted, like cutting the meat, they took it back into the kitchen it sliced it all up for him. A-1 eats. unpretentious, the food speaks for itself
I places a large to go order at lunchtime. I needed it quickly and was told "20 min." When I hesitated the owner said he would have it done for me in 10 minutes. He was true to his word. When I went to pick up, he was back in the kitchen finishing up and the place was empty. I was a bit concerned, but when I got the food home, it was absolutely delicious and FRESH. Of particular note were the chicken Xacuti curry, a dish I had never had from S.India and the Gobi Charchari; both fragrant with spices and delicious. Highly recommend the restaurant and the owner was very sweet, he gave me a bottled water for the road!!
The kebab factory is located along Washington street somerville and it boast some of the best Indian cuisine in the area . I enjoyed my time here and food was tasty . I recommend the chicken biryani,Alo gobi and the butter chicken. There is no parking lot on this restautant but there are metered parking just across from the restaurant.
Ordered delivery- received moldy food. What wasn’t moldy was saltier than Carthaginian soil. Called the restaurant but no effort was made to rectify the situation. All in all, a highly disappointing dinner (to say the least).
I was very excited about my order but unfortunately it is tasteless. I ordered Chicken Chili Malai Kebab and it has no flavor. It has no chili taste or spice to it. It is just bland. And chicken also tastes bad or rotten. I hope the restaurant can somehow compensate me with some other delicious meal but I am clearly disappointed with this one. It is just bland and tastes less. Also, when I try calling nobody picks up. There is erroneously recorded msg that keeps repeating.
Updated: This restaurant is amazing! I went here for buffet, and they brought the dishes to the table as the regular style buffet is closed due to covid guidelines, so you might want to tell them beforehand about any dietary restrictions if you go for buffet. The food was so tasty, they had prepared each item fresh. The quality, quantity and the price, I am a fan! If you want to know what real North Indian food tastes like, this is a must try restaurant! Update: I am sad to write this update, but I went in with my friends for lunch buffet and we were all disappointed. The buffet is now usual style buffet, that’s okay, but the quality and the variety of the food has dropped significantly. The naans that were once amazing were this time like thick breads and not naans. And paani puri filling they had on the table was stale and stinking. And the paani puri “paani” was just a giant ice block that was thawing and had no flavour. I would usually give them benefit of the doubt, but these many issues cannot be overlooked.
