Opinions de Duck House Monterey Park
I had a great dinner at Duck House Restaurant. The Peking duck was excellent — crispy skin, tender meat, and the pancakes were fresh and soft. The presentation was also very nice. We also tried a few other dishes and everything tasted delicious. The flavors were authentic and the portions were good for sharing. The service was friendly and the staff made sure we had everything we needed. Overall, a great place for Peking duck in Monterey Park. I would definitely come back again and recommend it to friends!
This food is marvelous at The Duck House. I love every dish. Especially the pineapple shrimp fried rice and the snow pea leaf with golden meat sauce. Both of these are my favorite. I highly recommend these two dishes to everyone.
Love the food here! Very authentic, the duck is roasted very well. Environment is great. They have a big parking lot, and it is also easy to find street parking
Absolutely delicious! The crispy pork intestines were perfectly cooked and packed with flavor, and the dipping sauce was amazing. Beautiful presentation, fresh ingredients, and great service. Can’t wait to come back!
Delicious meal! The duck was perfectly cooked, and every dish we tried — green onion pancake, crispy noodles, and garlic string beans — was amazing. Highly recommend!
This place exceeded my expectations! The spicy boiled fish was flavorful and authentic, with just the right level of heat and tenderness. The fish was very fresh and paired perfectly with rice. The bok choy was cooked just right and balanced the meal nicely, and the fried chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy inside without being greasy. Portions were generous, food came out quickly, and everything tasted freshly made. The restaurant was clean, and the service was friendly and attentive. Definitely a great spot for a casual meal with friends or family. I’ll be coming back!
The food was served very quickly and tasted absolutely amazing. The Duck was excellent, the chicken was tender and juicy, and the vegetables were very fresh and full of flavor. The service was friendly and efficient, making the whole dining experience very enjoyable. Will definitely come back again!
My family experience here was great. We were looking for a chinese restourant nearby and this came out. When we came, it shows signs that it would be crowded soon, we didnt have any reservasion. Yet, they quickly organized something for us and we had a seat ASAP. We ordered 4 stuff. And it came out way faster then we thought. To add on their chrysantynum tea is sooo comforting in a cold weather. 10/10 reccomanded. Everyonw was so nice too!!!
Absolutely fantastic Peking duck! We got it three ways. All were tasty but our favorite was absolutely making the pancake roles. The skin was outstanding. 🤤 We also got the filet cubes with black pepper sauce and the sauteed string beans with ground pork and fried shrimp. Both were stellar choices and I would highly recommend!
Duck House in Monterey Park is out of this world. The duck skin is perfectly crispy, wrapped with freshly cut spring onions, house sauce, and ultra-thin warm tortillas. The braised pork belly is buttery soft and melts in your mouth. Don’t miss the underrated dishes. The wine-marinated chicken and the marinated cucumbers & jellyfish are refreshing and addictive. The fried rice is fluffy, deeply flavorful, and you can truly taste the egg. Service is a solid 4.8 stars. Believe me, I am picky. Duck House is a must-visit in Monterey Park.
Duck House in Monterey Park was really good. Everything we ordered was comforting and flavorful. The duck was juicy and not too heavy. The lighter dishes balanced the meal really well. Nothing felt overdone, just simple and satisfying. The food felt warm and comforting overall. The environment was super chill and relaxed. Great spot for sharing dishes with friends. Easy place to take your time and enjoy. Would definitely come back.
I usually go there when my dad visiting from Korea. This is must place he want to come when he is visiting me. I went again for my FIL’s birthday with all my in laws. He loved the duck so much! My MIL does not like peiking duck, but she was satisfy as well. Skins are crispy, and meats are juicy and tender. One thing is it is better to order estra pancake and cucumber/scallio because it is always not enough. Other side foods are all so good as well. I love bokchoi with dry scallops and crab as well and fried rice is soooooo good. Waitress who served us were so nice too. Warm greetings and explanations and when we need something, she was not hesitated. Now my FIL wants to visit here again for my husband’s birthday 🤣 I need to visit here again soon.
Had the duck three ways there. The duck skin is very crispy. The flavor is very good as well. Quite generous portion as well. The duck soup was also nice and tasty. Service here is impeccable, very friendly. Quite nice of a restaurant with traditional decors and instrumental music. Good for conversation.
The neon sign on this restaurant had always intrigued me as I drove down Atlantic but a Cantonese friend of mine told me that it was only so-so. But he knows his duck and I just started on this path. The worm wanted duck and we went and it was delicious and succulent and we had a great time. The vegetable dishes or really well done and for the first time I got pork ribs. And they were good really good the vegetables were really high quality, we got that bok choy and oyster mushrooms and the cucumber salad which I believe had a touch of zanthoxylum oil , which is what I put in my cucumber salad when I make it. Hostess was really friendly and Shelly was very efficient. Also the tea was outstanding it was a pinkish gold Jasmine that I really liked and we saved the whole pot while digesting the fowl and Flora
I came to Duck House Restaurant expecting to be wowed by the Peking duck, and while the duck was indeed impressive, the real star of the show was, surprisingly, the lobster. It's easy to overlook a seafood dish at a place named after duck, but that would be a huge mistake. The lobster was an absolute masterpiece. It was incredibly fresh, with a succulent, sweet flavor that spoke to its quality. The preparation was simple but perfect, allowing the natural taste of the lobster to shine through without being overpowered by heavy sauces or seasonings. Each piece was tender and cooked just right, pulling cleanly from the shell. The portion size was also generous, making it a fantastic value. The service was excellent, and the ambiance was great for a family dinner. But truly, if you visit Duck House, you have to try the lobster. It's a hidden gem on the menu and a dish I'll be coming back for again and again. It completely redefined my expectations and proved that a place can excel at more than just its namesake.
The Peking Duck here is absolutely phenomenal—crispy skin, tender juicy meat. It’s easily the best I’ve had outside of Beijing! The pancakes were soft and warm, and with the hoisin sauce, scallions, and cucumber, every bite was a perfect balance of flavors. Beyond the duck, the menu has plenty of other delicious dishes worth trying, but honestly, the duck alone makes the trip worthwhile. The staff were attentive and made the whole dining experience smooth and enjoyable, and the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. If you love authentic Chinese cuisine, this restaurant is a must-visit. I highly recommend the Peking Duck—it’s their signature dish, and it lives up to the reputation.
The roast duck here is definitely worth trying! The skin is perfectly crispy and fragrant, while the meat underneath is lean and tender without being greasy — you can really taste the quality. I especially liked that the fat under the duck skin is well-rendered, making it a lighter, healthier version compared to traditional roast duck.
I don't think this place is authentic at all including the namesake duck. The funny thing is the restaurant name in Chinese has nothing to do with duck because it's based on a famous novel (deer and cauldron). I think the restaurant is trying to put lipsticks on a pig by offering food other than Taiwanese food but the chef probably needs better training for authentic Sichuan food. The Peking duck is not a good as they claimed to be. You can tell from the smell that the duck is not processed properly because it has that strong duck odor. It's not bad per se but there are way more authentic Peking duck places. Maybe this used to be good in the standards 10-20 years ago but nowadays there are so many more authentic Peking duck restaurants. The Sichuan food is where I have the most complains. The sauce and the food preparation is completely off. The prawns are not cut/cleaned in the back so the dry pot doesn't have the crispiness. The other food is also nothing to write home about. The meat they chose for stir fried pork with green peppers is also wrong as they used the pork used for twice cooked pork. The place is crowded surprisingly. And the service is alright. They have a bell button at the table so that's convenient. What I also didn't like is that they already included tips in the receipt for a party of 6 but they didn't give you the receipt after swiping for credit card but they don't give you the original receipt with the credit card receipts so they so for tips again. That's disingenuous.
It's a decent place to try if you’re curious about duck dishes, especially since Monterey is known for them. The duck was fresh and well-cooked, and the chef’s special fried rice was flavorful and enjoyable. I also liked the snow pea leaves with crab sauce—it was nicely prepared and complemented the meal well. The restaurant itself is clean and pleasant, and the staff were very attentive and accommodating, which made the dining experience comfortable. However, while everything was good, nothing really stood out as exceptional. The biggest downside is that the servings are quite small for the price, making it feel a bit pricey for what you get. It’s a place worth trying once, especially if you’re visiting Monterey and want to say you’ve eaten at a duck-focused restaurant, but it’s not necessarily a spot you’d keep coming back to. Overall: good food, nice ambiance, attentive service — but nothing special. Worth trying once, but whether it’s a must-visit really depends on the visitor.
The food was not as good as they used to be. We had the duck in three way and the babao chicken both needed to be reserved in advance. The duck is good as always but the side green onion are not fresh and they didn't use the small cucumber as veggie. The chicken is quite small and we can barely find the sea cucumber in there while mainly are the mushrooms. The most disappointing dish is the fried shrimp which is definitely overcooked while the breading are all messed up. Good place for friends and families gethering but they really need to get their food quality back the same as old time.
