We went a few times during our recent trip to Morgan Hill. The service was excellent. My wife enjoyed her salads and appetizers. I liked the cowboy salad: good taste, good meat, a bit too much vinaigrette but if you let it drip to the bottom of the dish, it's not an issue. The desserts were very good. Best were the coconut banana cake and the lava chocolate cake. The creme brulee was a bit disappointing as it was not warm. I'd give 4 stars for the food and topped it to 5 for the service.
LOVE LOVE LOVE! If you get the chance to go to Ladera, you should go! I always get the Chicken & Prawn Orecchiette - simply tastes AMAZING! Bread tastes really good! Their staff are great, and asked whether we needed anything. Best time to go is during the day. All my compliments to the chefs!
There is a reason we had a 45 minute wait on a Saturday evening and since we grabbed appetizers and drinks somewhere else, it was worth it! First, we were greeted professionally, and the place is decorated uniquely (wildlife from around the world, but especially bears were represented), and each table had seasonal pumpkin or skeleton hand decorations. Since they didn't have gluten free soups, My husband offered me a bite of their in house made New England Clam Chowder. It was delicious and I wish they'd make it gluten free using cornstarch or arrowroot powder as a thickener instead of flour. They are able to make gluten-free accommodations here! I could have had salad but always prefer to have a hearty meal. The filet here was cooked to perfection, and I appreciated my server obviously having knowledge of the menu but still double checking with the cook staff to ensure what options they had to offer me. Not being able to eat gluten is a pain, but they made it so much better! The creamed spinach was rich and decadent so I had a little (asparagus was a healthier option I didn't choose), and the roasted potatoes and peppers were delicious! We had such a wonderful meal we unfortunately didn't have room for dessert! I was planning to try their flourless chocolate cake but was unable. But I will still very pleased it was offered! It was the best meal I'd had in awhile!
One of the originals and a great contributor to the downtown dining scene. Very nice atmosphere with a great dining room and nice little bar. The outdoor sidewalk tables are fantastic on a warm summer night. The menu is solid (food and wine) with great options and good quality, especially if you love steaks and chops. The service is strong, as well.
Loved the ambiance even though it was outside and inside looked amazing (oh well, one day when the world is doing a bit better!) I appreciated the flexibility of the staff as I had timing concerns. The crab cakes were divine and the asparagus soup was sublime. They have many good looking options so good luck picking just one thing!
I was at Ladera with my mother and asked her what advice she’d give herself if she was my age. I was waiting for her to drop a wisdom bomb on me and after a few moments she answered, “hire a cleaner”. I was a little disappointed with her answer because I selfishly asked to figure out what I should do with my life. While hiring a cleaner would definitely make my roommates happier, I don’t think it would be life changing for me. I get why my mother wanted that, she already had a kid and was working 60 plus hrs a week at my age. I guess I wanted her answer to give me insight on my life. Maybe something like, “try shrooms, it’ll give you the perspective you need”. Or “don’t get married till you’re 35 at least”. Or “stop re-watching the office. At this point you could have been speaking multiple languages and playing multiple instruments if you didn’t waste so many hours on one show”. Anyway, I may have not gotten the advice I wanted to hear, but I still had a nice time at Ladera with my mother.
Ladera is a fine steak house and we've enjoyed all the meals we've had here. The service is fantastic, the drinks are top-notch and the steaks are prime cuts at reasonable prices (given the cost of beef these days). Their temps are typically spot-on, so no complaints on most dishes... except one, the Beef Wellington. Now, it's my fault and not theirs, which is why they still get five stars. Their dish just doesn't do a true Wellington justice, since the portion of Filet Mignon is too small, the duxelles are replaced with some type of tiny, whole mushrooms and the Prosciutto di Parma is entirely missing, along with the pâté. Both are replaced by sauteed spinach. They clearly state on the menu that it's a six ounce filet, which is not thick enough to wrap properly in puff pastry and therefore, cannot be served in slices. They also indicate there's sauteed mushrooms and spinach, with no mention of duxelles, pâté or prosciutto. So, I knew what I was getting into and they delivered exactly what they promised... I was just hoping it could stand against a traditional Wellington. It can't. We will definitely be back again and again, I'll just stick to the Ribeye. I hope others benefit from my mistake. Besides their choice to put this "Wellington" on the menu, it's a five-star restaurant by every measure.
We hosted a pre-wedding family reunion dinner at Ladera Grill recently. We had 18 guests in their private room. Right from the booking experience until we left, the service was excellent. It was easy to work with Johan to select our menu items and get wine pairing recommendations for our guests. Kyle, our server for the evening, gave personalized attention to each individual guest. It was the right balance between coming to checking on us and giving us time to have conversations. Everything from the welcome bubbly to appetizers and desserts were all according to our specified details. The menu items we selected were great. The most popular item was the filet mignon.we and our guests enjoyed the cocktails and wine served. Our favorite dessert was the red velvet layered cake. Would definitely recommend for private events!
Great cocktails. Food was out of this world. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Well worth the monies.
Everything was excellent especially the service. Sandra was very helpful and an awesome server! We chose Ladera Grill for our retiree friendship dinner because of this. Thank you!
fun place for casual dining. not a super fancy place, but a great vibe when sitting at the bar and getting apps/drinks
We were a party of 8. All the food served looked great. I enjoyed my meal. Service was a bit scant, but probably understaffed. I'd eat here again.
The owner of this place is really wonderful. As a vetran I appreciate his generosity and support. Every Tuesday they offer a free entree to vetrans and active military. I thank the owner from the bottom of my heart for being so generous and caring. Thank you ladera
The lunch menu was excellent and the Salmon dish was amazing. The staff are extremely attentive and pay attention to the details.
We had a great lunch at Ladera. The food was delicious and the server attentive. We went with a group of 7, and everything was wonderful. I had the prawn and Beet salad and a cup of clam chowder. Everyone was happy with their choices as well (filet mignon, cioppino, lobster raviolis). Definitely recommend. The food won’t disappoint!
Ladera Grill is another one of my favorite restaurants in Morgan Hill! The restaurant is awesome for lunch or dinner! The food is very delicious consistently with many delightful options plus daily specials. The drink and dessert menus are also quite pleasant. A huge plus is that Ladera Grill is family friendly and offers a great menu for kids! Favorite small plates are: Seared Ahi Tuna, Coconut Prawns, and Kobe Beef Sliders Other Favorites: Chilean Sea Bass, Beef Wellington, Lobster Ravioli & Grilled Prawns, Seafood Cioppino, and Roast Beet & Grilled Prawns This is a definite recommend to all!
Four of my girlfriends and I just finished having dinner at Ladera, what a treat. We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of food and service. I made reservations for a party of six, we ended up only having five for dinner hemce we asked if we could move to a booth and they graciously allowed us to move. The booth more comfortable and intimate. We enjoyed five entrees, three of us had the pasta special, one of us had the antipasto and another had the hamburger with fries. ALl of the meals were fantastic, delicious, fresh and hot. The dessert we shared was the special banana coconut with caramel dressing and ice cream. They served this dessert for years, it's one of the best! I recommend making reservations,we were there on a Monday night at 6:00pm and it was quite busy.
The food was amazing especially the truffle Mac and cheese, if there was only that with a melted layer of gruyere I would have been happy. The Wellington was made as requested and the puff pastry was buttery, flaky, basically just right. Of course we ended with NY cheesecake which was rich, baked cheese cake, not too sweet, the fresh berries gave all the sweetness needed. Left fully sasiated. We went again about a year later, the steak was just as perfect. The mushrooms were simple button mushrooms, just as delicious. I had a chicken sandwich this time, it was wonderfully spicy, really enjoyed the fresh tomatoes and avocado in the sandwich, might have been a bit better with thicker bacon or crustier bun to give some crunch or texture. The best part of this visit was Kyle our waiter, with highest recommendations and a kind demeanor when my wife spilled her spirit every where, he just switched us to a new table, focused on getting us comfortable and fed, cleaning up the mess in-between. Perfect service!
Ladera Grill is a very nice experience. Great food with excellent service in an upscale, modern, comfortable dining area. While certainly a bit more expensive than some other places, chalk that up to an amazing menu of taste sensations that are sure to please. Perfect for a first date, business gathering, anniversary, or just to treat yourselves to something wonderful. And don't forget dessert!
Wow. What a fantastic place to eat. We were driving through the area and needed a place to stop and eat. Found this and decided to stop in. Great decision. Staff was pleasant. White linen tablecloths. We had lunch, but I’m sure it’s a great place for dinner. Ordered the Cajun sandwich and the Ladera Turkey Sandwich. Came with fries. Both sandwiches were absolutely delicious!! We would recommend this to anyone wanting a delicious meal.
very good restaurant in Morgan Hill for business lunch or nice dinners. good service.
Upscale restaurant, you're going to pay above average prices but you're getting phenomenal food. I got the beef wellington im going to have to say it's one of the best I've had. Nice thin flaky crust, very savory flavor will definitely be back
Was in the area on business travel, so this dinner was expensed. I took advantage and ordered the most expensive steak on the menu. I’ll start with the atmosphere and service. The restaurant was buzzing but there was no wait on this Monday night. The service was attentive and always approached with a smile. Didn’t wait long for the Cowboy Steak to arrive after ordering, but any amount of waiting would have been worth it. All 22oz were cooked medium rare as agreed upon with my waiter, and the quality of it was palpable. The sauce marinated on my taste buds, and was well complemented by the Truffle Mac n Cheese. The baked potato was tasty but nothing special. I cleaned the plate with difficulty, but well worth the food coma I immediately fell into upon returning to my hotel room. I dreamt of steak that night. Would HIGHLY recommend.
I ordered Asian Chicken salad it was ok. I didn’t like the mango was bitter and they put too much sauce so it was very sweet I would say it was more like desert not healthy salad. However, I also ordered Alaskan Salmon which was served with yummy veggies and white rice, the second plate was also just as tasty Chicken veggies and the best tasting mashed potatoes I’ve ever tasted!! It was worth going!

This is a beautiful restaurant, incredible service, and the food is amazing. Locally grown & fresh. This is an excellent place to meet friends, hold events, enjoy on a date night. We have always enjoyed this restaurant. Very special conversations & memories we have shared here.

Went for my birthday dinner. The woman ordered the gumbo and I ordered the filet mignon. The woman said the gumbo was good but not the best she's had, my filet was good although initially it wasn't cooked how I had requested. We also shared a caesar salad. Overall the food was good but nothing really stood out as other restaurants we've tried in the area.
My husband, sister and I went for my 60th birthday. We always go to Maurizio's but want to try something with more variety. We had the calamari, Brussel sprouts, Cajun seafood, Chilean sea Bass, diver scallops, banana coconut cake, cheesecake, red velvet. The Sea Bass, mashed potatoes and risotto, banana coconut cake and cheesecake were outstanding. Scallops had an odd after taste and not a uniform size, I have had much better, but they were good, not at all inedible. Red velvet cake was too much frosting not enough cake. My husband didn't share the Cajun dish so I am unsure... calamari is hard to mess up, I wish there was another sauce option than marinara, brussel sprouts were good, just leave of the sweet sauce. I have never ordered Sea Bass and it was delicious, tender, juicy, wonderful flavor with the mashed potatoes! The start of desserts was the banana coconut cake with Carmel sauce as well as the cheesecake, well worth the added sugar!!! The server was nice, just young, and how our meal was before we took a bite. I will definitely go back for another special occasion, very nice ambiance..
Had mother's day lunch a day early here. The food was great, well portioned, and service was really good. Prices were reasonable for this class of restaurant. The low point was the mocktail. It was a little too sweet, and not a sophisticated non-alcoholic adult drink.
Generally we had a good time and the atmosphere was nice albeit a little loud in the central dining room with high ceilings. Half our party of 8 thought the food was really good, and half felt it was mediocre. The problem was our waiter was not very attentive until we got toward the end of our meal. My menu was snatched out of my hand. I have dairy and gluten intolerance, and I asked for no butter on the Halibut, and it came out dry and not very flavorful. I feel like an alternative could be used instead of no sauce. All this said, I can see why people love this restaurant and the food. My parents loved their filet, and the drinks were amazing.
Perfect spot for lunch or dinner. They have daily specials and a great menu. They seem to really care about their food quality and creativity in their cuisine offerings. They also have outdoor seating. If sitting outdoors please be mindful of the proximity of the main street flowing through downtown Morgan Hill which could be loud due to motorcycles and loud car engines which could make the dining experience disappointing.
Great place the food is really nice and well served. Served with warm bread and butter on house. Ordered seafood linguine was outstanding. The lamb chops were good as well. One complaint though it was apparently under staffed that you had to wait a while for everything.
Bruschetta, eggplant Beretta were excellent. Had simple pasta again which was good too.
Ambiance is upscale, servers are attentive and entrees were on the larger side and seasoned well. Many options from salads to steak, chicken, pastas, specialty dishes like beef Wellington. Delicious desserts. Great place for special occasions.

Very nice place for fancy date night or an upscale dinner. The service is very good and dishes tasty. Not the biggest portion but still very good. Taste is expected, nothing surprising good or bad. The drinks are very standard as well. The staff are friendly and safe for Covid times. Very cute outdoor dinning with heat lamp
Optics are strong here. The place looks like it would be really good and the menu looks fancy. Unfortunately, it underwhelms. The food averages out to be … average. The ahi tuna was exceptional but the filet mignon was like it was cooking in a microwave. The calamari appetizer is nice but the sauce it comes with it like watered down marinara… we asked for cocktail sauce and it was a significant upgrade. The fries are extra crispy, with the inside dried out. The problem with all this is, the price tag is too high! I would skip it and try another restaurant instead. Willard Hicks is across the street….
After we arrived on time, we were seated and provided with menus. We then spent 26 minutes waiting for service. Patrons who came in after us were attended to before we were finally acknowledged. We addressed this with the server, Alfredo, who checked in with us. . He was apologetic and attentive. The caprese salad was perfect. My scallops were slightly over-cooked, but overall, the dish was delicious. The sea bass was very nice. Alfredo saved the day. We were 4 minutes away from leaving and posting a 1-star review.
Food was great. Service not so much. New York steak cooked correctly, pork Osso Bucco fantastic, Mary's Organic Roasted Chicken great. I think our server judged us and decided that we probably wouldn't be good tippers so based service on that. Not terrible but lacking for sure.

Like others have said, the food is good but, for the prices, could be better. My steak (for $78) was a bit overdone compared to what i asked for. This was probably because it was way too thin. They will keep cooking even after you take them off the grill or stove but the chef should know that. Like others have mentioned, service could be improved.
Edit August 26, 2025: Our last three visits have been so disappointing. The service is terrible, the portions are smaller, and the food comes out just warm. The prices are much too high for what we get. After coming here for many years, we will take our business elsewhere. 😔 Edit 10 months later: This restaurant is still great. Delicious food. Jason the bartender makes great, strong drinks with a smile. Extremely impressed by our dinner tonight. Kevin was a perfect waiter. Never had to ask for anything. We all got a different salad and all three were delicious! Drinks were good. Only disappointment was the truffle fries; not much truffle flavor. Keep up the great work guys!! Be back soon! Went again and enjoyed the beef short ribs and the salmon salad. Both were very delicious and huge portions!

My wife and I had dinner at the bar in Ladera Grill … The server/bartender talked non stop to a couple next to us, while never asking us once about our meal or if we needed anything else, etc… The server seemed to be having some personal crisis that she was sharing with the couple while completely ignoring us for the complete meal. The “blackened Sea Bass”, ordered had no flavor and the cheesy bread we ordered for an appetizer was delivered cold with our meal… overall I found the Ladera experience was overshadowed by the vacant service. This is the 10th+ time I have been to this restaurant but the first time eating at the bar… I am very underwhelmed by this experience

My family and I went to celebrate my mother’s birthday without a reservation. We were told there were no available tables, even though the restaurant was only seating a few guests at the time. The hostess and floor manager looked my mother up and down and said, “We have no tables,” in a dismissive tone. It felt like discrimination—especially since even the customers who were already seated encouraged us to wait.
Not only other prices outrageous but I’m fully disabled and parked in handicap on my journey, using a walker, the sidewalk to the ramp of the back of the building was full of holes and very uneven then you need to walk up this really steep ramp that is terrifying once making it inside. There’s no one to greet you that is from the back of the building. We finally sat down. Everything we ordered was OK, their seared tuna came with an overwhelming amount of teriyaki sauce. You couldn’t even see the tuna we ordered a Greek Mediterranean salad and it arrived with chicken. We ordered their eggplant appetizers, which were overcooked. I don’t mind paying High prices if the food was decent, but I felt so dissatisfied. The portions were super small and the prices were expensive all in all it was just not a good experience.
TERRIBLE DISCRIMINATORY EXPERIENCE AT THIS PLACE! I stopped by with my family around 4:30 p.m. on a Sunday, and even though the restaurant had only three tables occupied, the host refused to seat us at one table. The treatment felt very discriminatory, especially toward Latin people. She spoke with the manager, but instead of offering a solution, they simply watched us leave and said we could only have appetizers because they had all restaurant reserved already. This was unacceptable. I will definitely never return, and I absolutely do not recommend this restaurant.
They threw away my leftovers. They asked if I wanted a box and they threw it all away. What a crappy experience. Waitress sucked too. Never really came back to even ask how the food was. Previous experiences were good but all it takes is one time to ruin it all. The helpers were awesome though. They were very attentive. Way more than the waitress. Seemed like she didn't even want to be there.
