Maurizio’s Restaurant in Morgan Hill is a wonderful spot for Italian food. The dishes were delicious and freshly made, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere felt cozy and relaxed, perfect for a nice dinner. Prices were reasonable for the quality of food and service. We really enjoyed our meal and would love to come back again.

Had our 23rd anniversary lunch here and it was great! Quaint Italian restaurant. We had wine, seafood linguine and halibut. Impeccable service and food was delicious! We topped our lunch off with the bread pudding dessert. Yuuuuuummmy! One of the best Italian restaurants in the south bay.

We went to celebrate a birthday, and everything tasted quite good! I personally loved their Bistecca Quattro Formaggio and the Tortellini con Prosciutto. The appetizers were pretty amazing too. The Calamari Fritti with lemon, sweet basil syrup, and spicy tomato sauce were delicious and well-portioned. The Burrata con Prosciutto, with fresh burrata cheese, prosciutto, sun-dried tomato pesto, and crostini, was a delightful start to the meal. Of all the pastas we tried, the Fettuccine al Pescatore was just ok compared to the others, so I'd skip this one. However, the Tortellini con Prosciutto, cheese-filled tortellini with mushrooms, prosciutto, spinach, and cream sauce was absolutely fantastic! The Bistecca Quattro Formaggio was another standout, with a rich, creamy flavor that was simply irresistible.

Omg, the most excellent dinner I've ever had. Ok, let's break it down. The waiters are amazing, very on it, and friendly. The first thing to come to the table was this lovely oil with garlic, with fresh bread. Smash the garlic on the bread, add a little oil, and OMG. Amazing. Then we got the stuffed eggplant for our appetizer. The way the tomato sauce dances on my tongue with this creamy eggplant, cheesy deliciousness. I could have stopped there, but no. We got the pork chop pasta dish with the aruguled topped with the balsamic dressing drizzle. Hands down the best meal I've ever eaten. The balsamic pears so nicely with that char grill chop. This pork chop was so juicy that it made my mouth water. And the pasta. What can I say? The creamyness with the cheese just melts in your mouth. Amazing 👏

The food and the service were great. The staff was very attentive. The restaurant is small and tables are set close yet the seating still felt intimate and not overly noisy. We will be back!

Food here was good. We enjoyed bruschetta and caramelized onion starters. There were very few vegetarian options for pasta and the Alfredo pasta wasn’t that good. The lemon tart with ice cream was really good too. Overall a nice experience!

I’ve never had better food and service for amazing, authentic, Italian food. This is not a place I could miss. The bread is baked in house with delicious separated dishes for oil and garlic. The seafood options and pasta are absolutely amazing. Look, please don’t go here and ruin a local treasure. Pay a little and enjoy your life. This is real Italian food. Go to Olive Garden or mcdobalds if you are hangry. This food is only cooked when you order, so schedule time to wait and enjoy the drinks and fresh baked bread. Come back to the old country here and experience something relaxing. For lunch 1-1.5 hours For dinner???? Maybe 1.5-3 hours? Of course for a nice lunch you can do it much quicker. The menu is versatile! The kitchen is fast and can serve really fast, and it’s also nice to take the time and relax.

Great Food, Service and Ambiance. It is a tight fit and because all the food is handmade to order, you will be there for two hours. So slow down and enjoy the food and company with a glass a vino. My wife and I recommend this place to everyone we know!

Don't know why but I rate an Italian restaurant on the basis of their linguine allé vongole (fresh tiny clams over pasta). Their version is outstanding- super fresh clams over a delicate but flavorful light tomato sauce. Now that the test passed with flying colors I'll have to come back for the rest of the menu.

Fantastic creativity in that kitchen on a daily basis. Service starting with Daniel and Javier is warm yet professional. Pricing is also very reasonable especially for the south bay. Give Maurizio's a try.

C

Food was outstanding, but price is probably just a tad high. They are very flexible on substitutions on the orders as well (no anchovies, polenta instead of potatoes, etc.). Overall, a highly recommended restaurant.

M
Marc Kreidler

Though I don't want this place to get crowded, I give it 5 stars. OMG, where to start. Each time, our servers have been first cabin. Ambiance is mellow Italian with Sinatra, et al on the sound system. No garlic wreaths or "italiana" decorating the walls. Bread and infused garlic oil are outstanding. We have now tried a variety of their entrees and salads. This is at least two steps up from Boca d Beppo and not the same league as Olive Garden. They are not trying to overwhelm you with portions and bread. This is fine dining rather than feasting. The plates come to the table artfully presented and extremely fresh. Each of the sauces and/or dressings we have had has been outstanding. Now, here's the thing. All this dining experience comes at a Morgan Hill price. Lunch with wine; about $50. Same thing in SF, $100 easy.

Maurizio's has excellent service and delicious food. We were celebrating a birthday so we ordered soup, entrees, a glass of Italian wine and shared an amazing lemon slice of pie. The clam chowder has a wonderful rich flavor with plenty of clams. It tasted fresh and savory. Many places serve lots of potatoes and cream with a few clams, not here. It was seasoned to perfection. The entrees were seafood fettuccine and their special pasta rototelli. The rolled pasta is created with fresh pappardelli, cheese, prosciutto rolled up and covered in a basil cream pasta sauce. It is amazing. The seafood fettuccine has a light tasty sauce and plenty of seafood. The prices are good for the quantity and quality of the food. Their wine selection is bread wuth local and Italian offerings by the glass or bottle. Come enjoy some great service and delectable food options at a quaint hometown favorite restaurant. Grazie!

This is authentic Italian cuisine! The food is consistently good, and the service is top-notch. It's small and quaint but that's what gives it more personality. They close to prep for dinner after lunch service daily that's how you know the food is fresh and going to be good here. Excellent 10/10 would recommend!

We had a 7pm reservation on a Saturday night. The place was packed and we ended up having to wait outside for 20 minutes past our registration time. The staff brought out complimentary wine and turned on a gas heater for us, very nice of them. Our waitress was amazing, and we ultimately had some really incredible food. Great service.

Such a welcoming small Italian restaurant, here in Morgan Hill South County, just good food and wonderful hosts. It is a very small restaurant so make reservations ahead of time. Especially a day before for a Friday or Saturday dinner. I recommend to start off with their delicious roasted garlic in olive oil with their fresh baked bread. For an appetizer the fried calamari and the Burrata Con Prosciutto. The Fettuccine w/ prawns or chicken is always delicious, you can add vegetables if you like, my family's favorite. I always order the Tortellini Con Proscuitto, it's so delicious, even though I want to get other options but I always end up with this plate, my favorite. You can always ask for classic Italian dishes and they do offer it. They have an ok wine list, but I always bring my favorite wine bottle (cork fee applies). Overall a good Italian spot that's reasonably priced and a place that I'd definitely recommend out of all the other ones out here.

One of my favorite restaurants. So good the travel time doesn't even matter. Authentic, wholesome Italian food. Love the variety of the menu, specialty of the day as well as wine selection. What sets the experience over the top is Maurizio himself and his staff. They so friendly and accommodating and literally can make anything! I've never had a bad dish here! Best of all it's all made fresh and from scratch. Cozy place, lovely decor.

Had a party of eight dinner for my mother's 85th birthday and was very impressed with both the service and the food! I had the New York steak special and it was phenomenal! They are very accommodating and we'll prepare things however you want for the most part. Substitutions doneness that sort of thing my brother ordered a pasta dish that came with marinara he asked for some of their meat sauce to be mixed in with it and they were more than happy to accommodate. My steak was done to a perfect medium-rare. If I had to pick one thing negative would be their selection of beer. But the food in the service far outweigh such a trivial critique. If you've never been there I highly recommend it next time you were in Morgan Hill

S

I was really impressed by the food when I went there last. I had a cheese and meat stuffed pasta shell in a delicious vodka sauce and my wife had the sea bass special. The meal was a bit expensive but VERY good. Service was decent. Nothing special, nothing bad

Fantastic restaurant. Was traveling alone and stopped here for dinner. The restaurant was packed so I ate at the small counter overlooking kitchen. The owner, Maurizio, was running the kitchen but took the time to make me feel like I was a guest in his home, telling me about the dishes and offering some samples - he is such a friendly man and proud of his food. The food was phenomenal and the service was great, this is a must try restaurant!

Best Italian food ever! We go about 2-4 times a month and we live 47 miles away. The food is awesome. Maurizio and his nepheware the nicest people. My favorite is the lasagna! You might need to make reservations, cause it is always packed, especially during the holidays. It is especially great for a couple looking to have a romantic dinner. Although, it is a bit pricey and it may seem like not enough food (for my husband, not me) it is well worth it to me. Marurizio, take the time to explain each of the specials to you. Is is a must go to place for fantastic food.

Delicious food and nice people serving. However it was a bit overpriced IMHO even though it was a great time/food, every dish was 25-35+, even a simple meat sauce spaghetti for an elementary schooler. (No kids menu)

The complementary fresh baked bread with garlic in oil was really delicious. The calamari with lemon honey sauce was delectable and I highly recommend it. My sister is vegan and had the Orecchiette con Broccoli (only vegan option?). We weren’t sure if there was egg in the pasta, as she forgot to ask. Regardless, her pasta was delicious and would definitely order again. I had the rolled pasta with tomato cream sauce which was super good and cheesy. The wine selection is really good and the service was friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant for their pasta and wine.

J

Best Italian ever. Try the pasta pear & cheese purses with Gorgonzola cream sauce. Order the bread pudding at the beginning of the meal (dessert first !) so they can get it ready for you. Diner style atmosphere, but the food and service make up for it big time. They've also retained their outdoor dining area for some al fresco dining. Love all their food!

I first went next door to Noah's, where I waited for 10 minutes before walking out. At Maurizio's, I was warmly greeted and seated as soon as I walked in. The menu looked delicious, with lots of choices across appetizers, salads, and entrees. I ordered the Rolette di Parma, with house-made pasta rolled with cheese and prosciutto, and served with tomato cream sauce. It was tasty, although not as al dente as I would have liked. For $13, it was a fantastic value. They also served warm bread with roasted garlic in oil. I'm glad Noah's service was awful so I could give Maurizio's a try!

We had a business lunch at Maurizio's last week. Although I've lived in the Bay Area for many years and have dined in Morgan Hill with friends, I had never noticed Maurizio's before. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was albeit simple and classic . My colleague and I agreed to make an effort to meet there for lunch again since I live in San Jose and he lives in Gilroy, making it a convenient meeting spot. The bread, pasta, and soups we had were excellent, and I can't wait to try more dishes. I think it's a solid place overall, unpretentious ambiance with efficient servers. The only downside to Morgan Hill is that parking can be hit or miss—sometimes there’s plenty of parking, and other times you have to drive around to find a spot. It does fill up quickly and isn’t very big, but they have outdoor seating, which is nice on a sunny day. Definitely worth a visit.

“The only place worth eating in Morgan Hill.” Staff are super attentive and have your best interest in mind. They had originally run out of my wife’s favorite dessert (the lemon meringue pie) and saw how disappointed we were… a few minutes before we finished they announced they had made an entirely new pie for us! They even gave us one slice on the house and sang happy birthday to my wife. All the other food exceeded expectations as well (and they give plenty of it). The lamb shank was especially notably.

T

We had just left another restaurant because of rude service and atmosphere. We called Mauricio's and told them it was our anniversary and we needed a table, now. Their phone lines were down and someone had to answer their lines and call someone else on site. We got there in minutes and they had a table for us and sat us immediately. Great staff and atmosphere. Our food was amazing and our waiter was a breathe of fresh air. What a blessing they were. They saved our night out!

We had a reservation for 4. Were seating right away and service began immediately. It was a small restaurant but they did not disappoint. Our meals came quickly. Everything was delicious. We had the calamari very delicately done crisp and delicious. The basil dipping sauce was different and surprisingly tasty. My Dianne and I had the Fettuccine with seafood. The spicy sauce is a must just right I could have that sauce on all my pasta and would not get tired of it. The bread with roasted garlic is my new favorite. We also had the chocolate torte. We both thought it would be too much. It was just right. Not overly rich, nice flavor, light paired with vanilla ice cream. We will be coming here again. Thank you for a nice evening the meal was delicious.

4-27-23. We were able to dine outside tonight because the weather was perfect. We both had 2 different pasta dishes and both loved it. I'm usually able to finish my entree but the entree portions were large and we both had to take a 1/4 of each home. The service was great and I was impressed with how attentive the bussers were. We need to dine here more often.

Great little mom n' pop restaurant. The selection is smaller than im used to so I had higher expectations. They didn't let me down. Bravo! The Waitress was super nice and accommodating. I had a long day and while the menu selections all looked great I was just in the mood for a traditional sausage and peppers. I asked our waitress if they could accommodate an off menu request. She said we have all the ingredients so I don't see why not, but let me check with the kitchen. Less than a min later she came back and said no problem at all. The food was excellent. Great place. Highly recommend it.

Best restaurant, hands down, in Morgan Hill. Not one restaurant has anything on this plaice. If you haven’t been here you’re missing out. Gotta try the Rotelle di Parma… best pasta dish ever. They have the best ste in town as well.

We had the seafood pasta and the mezzo pollo. Everything was delicious. I asked for a recommendation other than pasta, and the waiter suggested the mezzo pollo and offered to replace the pasta with extra vegetables. It was a great choice — the vegetables were perfectly cooked and well seasoned. I would definitely come back if I visit California again.

I was surprised in an amazing way. When I think of a traditional family Italian restaurant, this checks every box. Greeted warmly by several employees both entering and exiting the restaurant. Our server was engaging and exceptional at her role. The meal was delightful. Highly recommended as a must visit.

All great, everything is great. Probably the best Sicilian food I can remember! It’s equal parts authentic and new. The pasta is to die for and the antipasto was amazing. The wait staff had us in stitches. I would give 6/5 stars if I could!

Excellent food and service! I didn't get pics because we devoured the food. Staff cares about your experience; I would HIGHLY suggest you support this business!

Not your ordinary Italian! More interesting and more tasty than traditional. Professional service, generous portions, comfortable seating. Background music is not too loud, and acoustics allow for a conversation. Visually pleasing deco as you can see by other posted pictures.

This Italian restaurant on Main Street in Morgen hill is amazing. especially the Gnocchi, it has pear inside, which is refreshing and tasty. The Halibut was wrapped in Prosciutto, good match with tender fish . Lemon cream pie is the best ! Great service !

Very authentic Italian. The staff is incredible here. The waiter was so helpful. At some point he said don't worry about the menu, tell me what you want we will cook it. The food was impressive as well. I love the chicken pesto. My wife took the samon with pasta ( was not on the menu ). See the pics. I was bothered by the number of flies though. Not sure if it was a fluke but it was noticable.

First time at this restaurant. Lunch was delicious. I had the chicken marsala & my friend had Salmon & Ceasar salad. We split the meal. Salmon was very good. I have had better Ceasar dressing. Chicken was very tender, marsala sauce was excellent along with mushrooms & sundried tomatoes and al dente pasta. Plan to go there again. Had indoor & outdoor seating.

Food was ok. I expected something special but the taste was fairly standard. Might as well go to Olive Garden and get their drink specials.

Food: 4 Decor: 3 Service: 2 Came here with my brother for a weekday lunch. 1. Scampi di Gamberi Sautéed shrimp, butter, capers, lemon, parsley, crostini 8 ~Pretty good. Shrimp was cooked nicely, and the other ingredients all came out strong. 2. Cavatappi Con Salsiccia Penne pasta, Italian sausage, mushrooms, spicy tomato sauce 12 ~Pretty good. Pasta was cooked a nice al dente, and the remaining ingredients were good. Sausage might have cooked a few seconds longer since they were a bit pink in the middle. 3. Pesto rigatoni with chicken, mushrooms, and sun-dried tomatoes special, 12 ~Pretty good. Tastes just as you'd imagine. Service was rather disappointing. Pacing for our shrimp scampi was awkward since they didn't bring out the crostinis until a few minutes after the shrimp came out. My tablecloth was also dirty, and I had to request twice to have it replaced. It was nice that they kept on bringing hot bread out though, although I could have used a bit more olive oil.

A little small and loux, but outside seating is pleasant. Nice selection of wine. Really good food... My husband's, a foodie, favorite!

Best Italian in Morgan Hill. Wait staff is all ways great. Food is all ways great. Only down side is that it would be nice to have some more pesco-vegetarian options.

It was a beautiful night to sit and enjoy the patio. We started with the arancini, and the mix of goat cheese and apricot was wonderful. I enjoyed the totellini, it was nice and creamy and very rich. My boyfriend enjoyed the seafood pasta but said it was not a show stopper. Still a very good meal with generous portion sizes

We were a party of 11. The server was attentive. The food was good .We had to sit outside because the place was full but the patio heaters helped. Overall it was a good experience.

The service and accommodations are so good I really wanted to give it five stars. And even though the food wasn't absolutely perfect, I would have...only the prices are pretty high for the food that isn't quite perfect. The rib eye was good but the potatoes were so dry roasted they were close to stale and the cheese was melted weird on the roasted veggies (which there weren't enough of). My husband's stuffed pasta was good but it lacked some aesthetics. These are things I wouldn't normally ding at a mid-priced places but if I'm paying $40 a plate, it should at least look nice, right? We also ordered an orange soda and lemon soda. We we're expecting an Italian cream soda. We basically got orange and lemon juice in some soda. And the lemon wasn't fresh squeezed. I grow lemons; I know the difference between fresh squeezed and the bottles of lemon juice. These are all small things, right? Like I said, the small thing matter when you walk out having paid $115 for the experience. But we had a nice time and the service and staff were exceptional.

Wonderful food, friendly service, fair pricing. Great specials, nice wine selection. I've greatly enjoyed every visit. It can get busy on the weekends. No open wifi, which is a little weird these days. Parking can be a problem.

My daughter brought me for the first time to this little gem of a place on a Saturday night. We had the cannelloni which was extraordinary. The rigatone wasn’t al dented however the house made meat sauce was delicious. The wait staff was warm, professional and overall created a relaxing setting. Thank you so much Maurizio’s for a great experience.

This is definitely one of the best restaurants in town, with great Italian fare. It's a very cozy and casual atmosphere with great service. It offers a decent wine list, though I'd like to see them expand it. Reservations are a must on busy nights.

Valentine's night. Pasta was good. Very small but food was good. Service good.

Maurizo's is a nice small restaurant. The menu covers a lot of ground and they offer a wide variety of specials on the weekend. The meat Cannelloni and Veal are delicious and the dessert options are very good too. They only serve beer and wine, no cocktails. The wine list is a bit of a miss so I suggest bringing a favorite bottle from home.

The food and service were great. The inside tables are close together. It was a bit noisy when we were first arrived, but as the patrons left the restaurant the background noise decreased allowing for more pleasant conversation. I highly recommend Maurizio’s.

Good, but not great. Shared a burrata and prosciutto that was too young-burrata not creamy inside, though good flavor, and prosciuotto was not aged-it tasted more like mild sliced deli ham. All of our salads were very good. The seafood in my fresh spaghetti al mare was mostly tough squid and very little fish, but the sauce was balanced and tasty. We shared a flourless chocolate cake with ice cream that was delicious, with nice coffee undertones. Should add more Italian wines to the menu as well....in all, an uneven meal in a nice setting.

Excellent service, good food, with good portions. The swordfish was slightly overdone and needed an aioli for flavor. The spaghetti is al dente, and the meatballs are made with sweet sausage. Very good wine list.

I know a lot of people really like this restaurant. It just wasn't for me. I wanted to find a great place to go for our third year anniversary and wanted a really nice Italian place. I looked at the reviews for this place on yelp and a lot of people recommended it and really liked it. So I decided to give it a try. More and more I am finding that I prefer the Americanized version of food. I am Italian and love Italian food, but when I eat really authentic Italian I don't care for it much. For instance, I LOVE Olive Garden and Macaroni Grill, but hated Maurizio's. I ordered the Eggplant Parm and really disliked it. They left the skin on and it was really mushy-just not what I'm used to. And my husband ordered steak-it was ok but we've had better. I really wanted a romantic place as well and this place was packed but really small and I got a claustrophobic feel. So I wouldn't go there again. It might be perfect for some, but for me I really like atmosphere and more popular Italian food. On the plus side, we made a reservation and got there an hour early and were still seated immediately and they gave us a complimentary anniversary dessert. That was nice.

This place had the heart of Italy in the menu, but the food was a disappointment. Staff was very nice; HOWEVER, I made a reservation close to the time they break between shifts. Unfortunately I wasn't made aware of this when I called to confirm the reservation. I was only made aware after my friend and I talked a bit after I arrived. I'd heard very good things about this place. I hope they get their fire back!

Maurizio's has seen a significant decline in the past year. It used to be one of the best restaurants in MH but now serves fast food quality food at high-end restaurant prices. The fact that the dining room was mostly empty on a Friday night should've rung some alarm bells but we wanted to support local. Big mistake. Chewy calamari, runny pasta sauce, stiff 'fish of the day', lukewarm dishes .... we desperately tried to find a silver lining but in vain. The food reminded me of one of those tourist traps on the beach that serve fish n chips on paper plates. Service was great -- so we ended up tipping 25% 'coz bad food is not really the server's fault. All in all, one more gastronomic legend sacrificed at the altar of COVID-19. I wish they'd close the place down until they find a decent chef or can afford non-stale ingredients.

Average food, below average service. Had to ask for bread 4 times, water glasses stayed empty. We told the server we had a birthday and they did not acknowledge at all. Won’t be coming back.not worth the $250 bill whatsoever
