Got to visit their dockside too and was great and that landed us to their restuarant today. Great customer service, loved the ambience and they served most dishes from the too and more. Pet friendly. Clam chowder was the best. We ordered clam chowder, scalloped potatoes, captain platter and seafood pasta. Everything was fresh, seafood pasta was ok.
Our Server was awesome! The food was amazing, highly recommend the shrimp fettuccine alfredo! The portions are awesome! The postcard idea for marketing is genius! The service was fast! We highly recommend this establishment if you are in Morro Bay!
Very likely the best seafood in town. There are two places here, the restaurant inside, and then outside on the dock. Very often we sit outside on the dock have a drink and listen to music and then go inside for dinner. But sometimes we just stay on the dock and have salmon tacos with our beer and wine. Usually a great view of the rock and seagulls and the dock and boats… And people a few… But when it’s foggy, there’s not much of a view and you just kind of huddled up inside your sweatshirt. If you’ve got some good friends or family with you though it’s really terrific.
Had a nice dinner dockside on the last day of a 2 week trip. We had a nice dinner, watched the fishermen unload the catch of the day and had excellent service. Enjoyed fish tacos made of the catch of the day with some onion rings. A nice 805 topped it off and we head home tomorrow. See you next time!
The halibut tacos and mango salsa were amazing, as were the oysters.
James gave us amazing service! He really went above and beyond! Thank you!
Great spot overlooking Morro rock. Very accommodative - instead of making us wait 45 min, they sat us at two tables and enjoyed seafood lunch. Fresh oysters, popcorn shrimp to start. Great kids options. I highly recommend Yellowtail special.
If you're visiting Morro Bay Tagnazzini's Dockside is a must! The food definitely didn't disappoint. I had the 5 piece fish and chips to share with my husband and he had the triple decker BLT it was delicious 😋
Lunch was exceptional! Clam chowder was great with a beautiful house salad. They added blue cheese crumbles per my request. I ordered the crab melt but had to take it to go since the salad was so large. Service was very good, friendly and attentive. I will definitely be there again!
I am a believer in shopping local and this is a very Local Family owned business with amazing food and the best Ribs you will ever have every Saturday at 2pm ( sell out fast ) . Also the owner and his son are just great people and help other small businesses as well as the community. Basically every time you spend money at a business you invest in the peeps . Invest here and you will not be upset . Ps . I always visited when I was a kid taking a break from the summer heat in the valley . We would surf in pismo and then eat at dockside every visit . Now we live here and I still go as often as I can with my kid .
Such a great place.to enjoy a meal. Indoor seating with ocean view and cocktails in the restaurant. The Haeboe Hut is a walk-up, no booze but great food. Outside seating and also under a patio. Awesome view of the bay and rock. Benches and high tables. Accommodates ADA, parking too. Dogs welcome. It's got plenty of free parking. What more do you need? Check them out, you'll be happy you did. The restaurant and Harbor Hut are different environments but both are amazing. You can eat from the hut outside and go into the restaurant to order booze and bring it outside to the Hut's patio. Watch the cute otters from your table, either inside or out. Great experience.
This is our second time here, and both times, they hit it out of the park with service, drinks, and food. Generous portions on everything, and very delicious. (Definitely try the seafood fettuccine and the stuffed salmon!) Editing: we're back here a year later, and it dipped a little. Service and food were a little more mediocre this time around. Fish was overcooked, and we only saw our server once. But it's still a nice little restaurant to tuck away in. (Better than Tognazzini's!)
My daughter and her fiancé were married in Morro Bay February 22, 2025. We had an amazing “Wedding Weekend” filled with a Welcoming Party on Friday evening, a ceremony and reception on Saturday, and a Farewell Brunch on Sunday. We decided to host the Farewell Brunch at the Harbor Hut. Harbor Hut stepped up and ended our “Wedding Weekend” with superb service, food and drinks! Max, the general manager, was wonderful to work with and accommodated all of our guests (approximately 50) with amazing customer service. Max allowed us to created a personalized brunch menu that included entree choices, the newlyweds names, and specialty drinks. Such a nice personal touch! The staff was friendly and fun- just like the ambience and decor of the Harbor Hut. It was such a relief to end our weekend of celebrations here- We had to add absolutely nothing to prepare the space! The Harbor Hut has a unique tiki/surfer vibe and hosts a beautiful view of Morro Bay across the back of the restaurant. Cheers to Max and the Harbor Hut Family. Thank you for allowing us to celebrate with all of you and for providing a wonderful ending to our “Wedding Weekend” celebration in Morro Bay. We highly recommend Harbor Hut when looking for a great restaurant in Morro Bay.
Great place to stop and have lunch on the pier. The view of Morro Bay Rock from here is awesome!! The food is great and the staff was accomodating in food substitutions such as grilled or baked fish as opposed to fried and a small salad as a substitution for the chips that normally come with the fish and chips. The fish was cooked perfectly and fresh. The cobb salad was also very well prepared and fresh. Adding a glass of wine to the meal enhances the experience! There is something unique about the nautical vibe here!
Harbor Hut in Morro Bay is an absolute gem, offering a delightful seafood dining experience with breathtaking views of the bay. From start to finish, our meal was a testament to the culinary excellence and warm hospitality that Harbor Hut is known for. As we stepped into the spacious restaurant, we were immediately captivated by the panoramic view of the bay, setting the perfect backdrop for a sunset dinner. The ambiance was serene and sophisticated, creating an ideal atmosphere for an adult dining experience. The menu, while not overwhelming, boasted a variety of options, from locally caught seafood to salads, soups, and even chicken and steak dishes. For our mains, I opted for the shrimp scampi, accompanied by a delectable array of vegetables and the star of the show – the fried potato cake. Let me tell you, this potato cake deserves its own accolades – herb mashed potatoes breaded with parmesan cheese and fried to perfection. Each bite was a heavenly explosion of flavor. The shrimp scampi, served with a lemon butter and caper broth for dipping, was equally divine. My partner indulged in the fish and chips, a generous portion of beer-battered cod accompanied by steak fries. He couldn't stop raving about the savory tartar sauce and the delightful pineapple coleslaw that accompanied the dish. Despite our best intentions, we were too full to even contemplate dessert, a testament to the generous portions and satisfying flavors of our meal. Overall, Harbor Hut exceeded our expectations in every way. With its stellar food, welcoming atmosphere, and stunning views, it's a must-visit destination for seafood lovers and anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience in Morro Bay.
This is definitely our favorite restaurant in Morro Bay. We've been here multiple times and have had a great experience each one. The food is outstanding! This might be insignificant to some, but I LOVE their Caesar Salad. I feel funny doting on a salad, but it's so unique, and I crave it majority of the year - ha! But you can't go wrong with anything you order here. Just sit back, enjoy eating alongside the amazing view, and plan your next trip back.
This review is for dinner at the “restaurant”. Have been to Morro Bay several time and noticed that this place is always busy. So decided to stop on in. This was during the dinner rush on a Sunday. So we expected to have a wait. Pleasantly surprised that the wait wasn’t anymore than 15 min. I ordered the “Captain’s Combo Platter & Chips (fried)”. You’ve been warned, as it states in the menu, it is all fried. But I’ve been good all weekend and need my fix. This is a good portion of food, so much I didn’t even touch the French Fries. I would recommend ordering a side salad and taking half of the dish home. Good value for the cost. Good attentive and friendly service. Plenty of free parking and clean restrooms. Others in our party felt the value wasn’t as good with their meals compared to other places on the embarcadero. So, I recommend you check out the photos and prices to see for yourself.
Tognazzini’s Dockside is basically two restaurants in a trench coat. You’ve got the chill dock outside with music and drinks, and the proper inside spot for dinner. Start on the dock for a beer or wine. If the mood hits, stay put and order salmon tacos. If the fog rolls in like a stealthy sea blanket, retreat inside and feel smart about it. On clear days you get the full Morro Rock poster: boats posing, seagulls acting like unpaid security, a few humans wandering through the shot. On foggy days you get a sweatshirt, your breath, and the intimate thrill of guessing where the ocean went. Bring friends or family and the whole thing turns into a seaside sitcom. Staff is very accommodating. The food costs real money and tastes fine. Not bad. Not a life event. Verdict: go for the dock vibes, music, and easy salmon-taco happiness. Budget for the view. Pick a clear day if you want the rock. Pick a hoodie if you do not.
Cozy spot along the harbor to have a meal. They were able to sit our large group of 13 and the staff dealt with our crew of 5 young kiddos very well. Friendly service, large portion sizes. I'd love to get a few more green veggies with my meal but otherwise it was a great meal!
The food was to die for. Absolutely delicious. I think we came at a rush group time, though. A group had just entered before us (myself, my husband, and 2 kids) We were seated right next to the beverage station, so it was a little chaotic (there were plenty of other seating options). Our waiter was not very "thrilled" he had people wait on. The greeter was the sweetest lady, though.
Had amazing Fish-of-the-day Cobb Salad, with egg, avocado, beet, thick cut bacon, onions, a generous heap of blue cheese (not the dressing), and a cilantro lime dressing (on mine). Their other dishes are also delicious. Very satisfied. Will be returning again.
Visited for lunch a few weeks ago. Tognazzini's is old school, has been around for a long time, and that is the vibe. Nothing fancy but gracious service and our meals were excellent. We had the clam chowder and clam strips with coleslaw. My partner reported that the chowder was excellent. The clam strips were fried to perfection, plump, juicy, flavorful and not at all greasy, some of the best I've had. The coleslaw was perfect, just the right blend of creamy and tangy. Great views if you sit by the windows and there is an outdoor sister restaurant (Dockside Too) if you prefer to dine al fresco. Prices are comparable to other local restaurants/California restaurants/vacation destination restaurants. Plenty of parking in the harbor-front lot, although I'm sure it's a zoo in the summer. Additionally, you can park, have lunch/dinner, go check out the views, the otter watching pier, get a close up view of the power plant stacks, and a great view of Morro Rock.
Excellent restaurant for fish and seafood. They have their own fishing boats so when they say fresh it is. Prices were pretty reasonable all things considered. The place is old and could use a facelift. It kind of makes you feel like you stepped back in time. Everyone loved their food. It is definitely worth visiting.
Great location, good service, average food. Cocktails were a good start and patio seating so a great view of the harbor. Server was helpful if a touch slow, perhaps too many tables to manage, but not enough to cause problems. We had appetizers and the oysters tasted fresh. All the food was ok, nothing spectacular but not bad at all. It's the location like all the places we've been to on the boardwalk. Great spot to stop, good enough service and reasonably tasting food at elevated pricing.
2nd time eating here and the first time trying their Fish n Chips and let me tell you, hands down the absolute best I ever had in my entire life. As picky as I am, I can't believe that I have finally found the best! I also tried the Clam Chowder. It was tasty, but the clams were very rubbery. My daughter tried the Seafood Croissant and she rated it a 6, she said it was a little soggy. Service was really good though. All and all, I will be going back for the fish n chips! Guess what? I went back and it still did not disappoint 🙌
We arrived soon after the restaurant opened on a Tuesday. We had a table with a lovely view of the Rock, but my tall husband had to be careful about the light fixture overhead that threatened to brain him every time he stood. Service was okay. I got the clam chowder bread bowl, and it was fantastic, everything I hope for. My husband had the five piece fried fish. While the fish was undoubtedly fresh, the breading was rubbery. My son had the macaroni and cheese; it was oddly soupy, which comes across in the picture. So, an uneven meal experience for us.
This is a nice classic seafood restaurant right on the water. We got to watch the sun go down behind Morro Rock. The service was excellent from the moment we walked in the door including the hostess and our very attentive server. The food however was just OK. In my opinion the garlic butter they serve the bread with had too much garlic in it and I do love garlic. My shrimp scampi was way overcooked, rubbery shrimp never a good thing. I sent it back and got more of the same, still overcooked. Also the garlic butter dipping sauce had too much garlic in it. My husband‘s beer battered seafood platter he said was also just OK. We did appreciate the service though.
We always looked towards coming here every trip to the coast but seems like every recent visit gets worse. Really disappointed in the food this trip to the point it will be our last. Portion sizes are smaller. The food isn’t as good as it used to be to us. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is great but we wish they would take a good look at the meals and portions.
I have been wanting to come here for years. Finally was able to come today. And such a disappointment. It’s a family place that hasn’t been remodeled for decades but that’s the character of the place and I wouldn’t change it. When we walked in Erika greeted us, answered our questions, then sat us. A gentleman that was cleaning and setting up tables took our drink orders but he didn’t speak great English. But that didn’t stop him and he gave great service! Actually he gave the best service to us tonight. CiCi helped him and also picked up dishes but she had other tables. We had no idea who our true waiter was until after we had ate the bread and crudités (awesome BTW). Then we waited another 5-10 minutes before James showed up (we are now at least 20 minutes being there) and asked us if we were only having drinks. In which we said No. We had come because we were hungry and wanted to try the fish and chips. He apologized. This is when we finally understood who our server was and what’s interesting is he blamed everyone else for not coming to see us sooner but himself for not seeing about us or understanding why we were there. Being in the service industry, even though someone might tell you something, you find out for yourself how someone is doing and if they want something to eat or not. Horrible service by James. Don’t care how busy you might be you should always check on people seated in your service area. It’s a hospitality thing. Care about people. Now, the food. Erika did tell us that they lightly bread the fish before we sat down. It didn’t register that it wouldn’t be crispy until we got the dish. The fish was indeed lightly breaded but not crispy. Unfortunately the fries were soggy and not great. When you have fish and chips you want both great neither soggy. Not the case here. Have had better on the Central Coast and even better places in Morro Bay. Sad part, neither one of us have a desire to go back, nor will I ever recommend this place to anyone that I serve.
Went with family and sat outside because we had pets with us. (Could do with some heaters on the deck). The view is great, and our server Dylan was really on her game even though it was a busy night. I've got to say the meals were surprising mediocre. The tomato soup tasted one dimensional, like a Campbells. The shrimp tasted like it had been refrigerated, even though it had supposedly seasoned Cajun. My husband's alfredo pasta just tasted like butter and milk, no garlic or anything. The $15 kids' plate had a small handful of fries with 2 small piece of fish, and the kid's cheeseburger looked like 1/8lb patty. The cocktails were huge, but loaded with sweet & sour syrups, in the age fresh juice, why go for something so artificial? It was a weak drinks Our Mai tai's didn't even have the traditional 151, which is standard for that beverage. Bottomline, you're getting the generic "by the sea" tourist experience. Which is disappointing, because if the kitchen or head chef had taste buds, he'd know cantaloupe doesn't pair well with a crab louis salad. Staff was on the ball and I really loved all their efforts, so sincere kudos to them, but I don't expect us to be returning anytime soon. Which is unfortunate, because we are locals. Would love to try again if the kitchen and menu get an overall.
I WANTED TO ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE SO BAD! The waitress was excellent, the service was excellent, the view was phenomenal! But the food…… oh my… the chowder tasted like nothing. I had an Asian salad that was def a frozen or microwaved chewy chicken breast. Stir fry Frozen veggie mix in a salad? Like really? Cut a fresh pepper bro, we’re in CA. Lettuce was fresh at least…. Fish and chips, fish were good, not over bartered like a lot of places, but again, fries, no seasoning 🤭…..at this point we were just like give me all the salt and pepper. It was just a letdown. We walked by the outdoor burger hut, and that area smelled flavorful.🤣
