CharBar No.7 - Mountain Brook

Had a great lunch with friends at Charbar! I had the shaved Brussels salad which came with chicken, cranberries, almonds, bacon, onion, goat cheese ( I changed to Parmesan), brussels sprouts, spring mix, and Italian dressing (I swapped to honey mustard). One friend had the salmon salad, which looked great also, and people were pleased with their burgers and chicken as well. On previous trips, I have had a French dip, fish, and chips, and fish tacos, and have never been disappointed in my food at CharBar! The atmosphere was great, service was friendly and timely, and the restaurant was clean!

Went here for lunch after walking the Botanical Gardens. The food was fantastic. My wife and i got the Fish and Chips. It came with a 'cranberry cole slaw' that was amazing. at first it sounded really weird... cabbage + cranberries (...?), but when we tried it we both agreed it was incredible. The other surprise was the tartar sauce. It tasted house made and had lemon in it. I was speechless at how incredible the fish and chips meal was! Our kids got burgers and my sons raved about the smoke house burger.

Great upscale grill with a classy yet laidback atmosphere in lovely surroundings. Came on a Friday night just after 6 with no reservation and had a 30 minute wait. Ordered a Bombay Bramble cocktail, sirloin w/ baked sweet potato & Caesar salad, and the Sweet Heat burger w/ mushroom risotto. All were fantastic! Though we did not partake, they do have a desert menu if you ask for it.

Great place for food and drinks. I had the classic hamburger which was perfectly prepared and fries. CharBar7 is a good place to meet friends and enjoy a meal together. This was a Sunday evening and the wait time was only about five minutes. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed the food, and the staff was very friendly. I ordered the shrimp Po boy, I only wish there was a baked/pan seared option. Also the fried mushrooms were fresh out of the grease hot, but could use some more seasoning. Overall I would recommend it especially if you want to watch a sports event.

Fantastic service and food. In between setting up final touches for my nephew's wedding and the ceremony, we decided on a whim to stop by the Char Bar on Saturday afternoon for a quick lunch. Great decision. The staff was helpful and friendly. The food was fantastic and the bar looked to have 20 or so beer taps - plus a full bar. They served us quickly since we told them we were in a hurry. But everything was delicious. I had the prime rib French dip and certainly recommend it.

Had a wonderful experience as always! Always constantly great food and wonderful service. Lindsey was wonderful and will certainly continue to ask for her every time we come. She was very knowledgeable, made some awesome drink recommendations, and was super attentive.

Sarah worked her magic and got us the Miami Dolphins game. I would give 10 stars for that alone But cold beer and scrumptious food is good too 😋 😉

There was no wait on a Friday night. The General Manager was helpful and our waitress was excellent. We enjoyed the nachos as our appetizer and they have a great salad selection. Definitely check out their smash burger it is very good. You can enjoy a nice stroll after you eat.

Wonderful experience, knowledgeable server, very sweet-althlough she was extremely busy had a moment to chat and suggest places to visit with my husband and I who are out of towners. Very good Smashburger and French Dip-adequette portions (I was able to save half and reheat the next day).

Absolutely fantastic date location would highly recommend. Very eloquent and modern atmosphere, within walking distance of the botanical gardens. Amazing food, wasn't a long wait whatsoever. Go ahead and get you some fried pickles it's worth it. We also got some cocktails with our meal. They've got a great drink selection in general could guarantee you're going to find something you like. In the end all be all, go give them a try 😁😁

The food is great. Always cooked fresh and seasoned well. The servers are always friendly and constantly makes sure you dont need anything. The ambiance is nice for date night ot special occasion. The sport bar feel without all the noise!

I love this restaurant!! The customer service alone will always bring me back!! The Manager David is such a gentleman and very active in the restaurant!! He made my first visit so memorable, that we booked a party! I booked the party in advance but at the last minute I had to change the time, I called last night and they were busy I spoke to Courtney! She asked if I could call back in a hour or 2 due to them being busy, I forgot lol!! I woke up in a panic thinking I wouldn’t be able to get my time frame. I waited for them to open, but 40 mins before they open I received a call from the restaurant and it was Courtney!! Out of all the chaos going on the night before because it was New Year’s Eve Courtney still remembered to check on me!! That really made the best start to my year, that was so so thoughtful and courteous! She was so polite and very attentive to our table! Even 10 minutes after we left and went to the ice cream parlor across the street, she walked over and brought my daughter’s jacket I had just bought her 🥹❤️! I was floored, and so thankful for her doing that!! Thank you both for the best customer service I’ve ever received!

I had such a great experience at Charbar 7! The food was absolutely delicious! Everything came out fresh, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. But what really made the visit special was our waiter, Justin. He was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. His recommendations were spot on and his service really elevated the whole experience. I’ll be a returning customer for not only the food but also the service from Justin! The beer battered mushrooms and filet were a must! Thank you so much for the recommendations and amazing service, Justin!

Jasmine was my server and she was amazing!! She catered to all of my needs! My fries were cold but I didn’t bother to ask for anymore but the food was amazing

Great food, great vibe, and outstanding service. Jake and Daniel were especially awesome: friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Definitely coming back!

This is a lovely place to get delicious food very quick. Although I was sitting outside the music was too loud but I guess this is normal in North America, this doesn't sound like dining music to me. Service was good fast . I had ceased salad, had the option to choose a smaller size. Fried pickles were amazing. Draft beer was okay. You have the option to sit outside with your dog, parking available for free.

Sunday, December 17, 2023 We went around 7:30pm and had about a 20 minute wait. Plenty of seating. Service was good. Had to wait a little bit for food. My burger was okay, could have used a little more seasoning. I got the classic burger. My husband had the #7 burger smash burger. He said his was well seasoned. The fries were super good!

The boys just needed a placed to land while the girls shopped. It was 1:44pm and a 30 minute wait with empty tables all around the restaurant…obvious staffing problems and I certainly won’t condemn the management for this issue. We ordered the Wings appetizer and drinks and enjoyed the World Cup on a vast array of big screens. All was great with our server.

The salsa was fantastic! French dip very good and so was the salmon! Cute and great ambiance with plenty of tv’s. We were in the back and out of site a bit. Super nice waitress!

Neat place with a decent craft beer selection. The only compliant is I ordered a medium rare steak, and it was more medium well. It was still good, and I had not eaten all day, so I was not sending it back and waiting for another.

Tried this restaurant for the first time on Valentine’s Day for a late lunch and it wasn't crowded at all! Our waitress was sweet and the food was delicious! We ordered fried pickles and Buffalo Chicken Dip as our appetizers. Fried pickles come as spears and the Buffalo Chicken Dip is perfect for someone who doesn't like a lot of spice. Both so, so good! I ordered the Glazed Haystack Chicken with tater tots and Alfredo as my sides for my entrée. My only complaint about the food is my Chicken was tough to chew but it comes on a skillet so probably just overcooked. I put 3 stars for service because it wasn't busy and we had to wait 10 mins for drinks and appetizers basically came out with the meals. But the food was so good, I will be back to try another entrée!

Atmosphere was romantic. The view from my seat was cozy. I would recommend CharBar if you are in the Birmingham area. I had chicken tender fries and a margarita, my husband had a smothered burger. Perfect!!!!

Nice place with a wide variety to suit the diversity of larger groups. If you prefer your salmon cooked to a specific temp, make sure you specify when ordering. They did not ask us.

Had the Leap Year burger with fries and my wife had the Southwestern burger with risotto. She also had a lemon drop which she enjoyed. Her burger was good and the risotto was good as well. My burger was salty and didn’t taste very good. The burger had egg and bacon on it and it still wasn’t very good. The fries were fine. Overall it was just okay.

Avocados on our burgers were super hard and our egg was over cook. They forgot my fried Jalapenos. The burger patties and the broccoli were delicious!

The service was not good. My server was all over the place. The razotto was good. The steak lacked seasoning. The old Fashion was delicious. The ambiance has the sports bar feel.

It was 8pm when we got there on a Wednesday night. Parking was horrible. It was crowded and loud. The waitress waited between 15 and 20 minutes between ordering drinks outside of water and to take our order for food. There were out of the first 5 beers my boyfriend tried to order. The waitress didn't come back after leaving our food until we were done and had waited a while to even get a sweet tea refill. The service sucked and the food was bland. I will not go back. One and done.

We both ordered the French Dip, and as you can see in the picture, more than half the meat in both sandwiches was fat and gristle. It was really disappointing considering how much we usually enjoy CharBar7. On a positive note, the fried mushrooms were very good — crispy and flavorful. Unfortunately, our waiter seemed annoyed to even be there. He never once asked how our meal was, and it was hard to miss the two plates piled with fatty meat sitting right in front of him. We normally have great experiences at CharBar7, but tonight was a definite miss. Hopefully, this was just an off night.

Service started off great with a quick greet and then it was nonexistent. Multiple times of having over 20+ minutes in-between checks if food was ok. First drink has ice melted in it and I had to ask for a second. Wanted to order two shots for my other diner and I had to flag down the server after waiting 15 minutes. It looked like she had a 4 table section and during the time she had 3 active until they left and left us as her only table and she continued to not keep her awareness of us. I assume she was at the back chatting with another server which she did multiple times at the server station at the bar. Your side work and socializing should not take priority over guests. Oh, and the bartenders wear air pods and put their personal belongings in plain view behind the bar, including having their Stanley's on the bar, you can see that in the photos. Food quality was superb but unfortunately completely ruined by the lack of awareness in the operations from the front of house. We were excited to try out this location, and now we will not come back. Oh and we saw a manager on the floor for about 5 total minutes during this visit, I would say they correlate. Would not only not recommend, I would instead recommend to not dine here. I just added a photo of the bartender drinking from said Stanley and you can see the earbud in their ear.

We were seated with no wait but we didn’t get a server to our table for 19 minutes. I had to go get our drinks at the bar finally. When the server did finally come to the table she had an attitude because when I went to get drinks from the bar I asked the host if we had been seated in a section with no server. We watched people that were seated after us get drinks, appetizers, dinner and pay their check before we got our food. I won’t let this experience exclude me from ever going back but I will probably just sit at the bar.

I was charged regular price for a mimosa and it was the drink of the day at half price. Our group of 10 who had spent plenty on drinks and food were not allowed another mimosa to make up the difference. The lack of customer service and or willingness to pour a little OJ in the Cooks but was ridiculous.

Served my daughter raw fish. Manager had no concern. Server dismissed and said it was “medium”. Additionally, the manager came out and scolded my daughter, a minor, and told her that she should have addressed it with him rather than me calling.

Well, we wanted to find a good place to eat a steak, drive buy and after checking their menu it looked good. It was not. There is a lack of service: We ordered appetizer pretzels, came with no plates, no napkins and after we had finished and where told our food was going to be coming shortly about 15 minutes later, no food, waiting for beer, never cleared the table after she had given us plates for the now already eaten pretzels. Then came the steak, I ordered medium and it was well done, tater tots luke warm, the Cesar salad was soaked in sauce, not crisp. What appeared to be the manager, came and ask if everything is OK and I said not really. She said we want to make it right, please let me make it right. Never reappeared after she left. We finished dinner and wanted to pay, and then, all of a sudden the beer appeared. I do have to say they didn’t want to charge for the beer. We paid, I left a reasonable tip, I shouldn’t have. Certainly don’t want to go there ever again. We don’t.

It took 10 minutes to get my drink and was missing the lemon, all our food came at different times, the broccoli looked like it came from the microwave, my son was done with his food by the time he got his tatter tots, that were raw and extremely oily. We got there at 12:30 and left at 2:30 that is how long everything took

Would have loved to try the food but after sitting for ten minutes and being passed over by the waitress in the colts jersey and in the Vikings jersey without any greet or acknowledgment we just left. I can’t imagine leaving a two top in my section or even in the section next to mine for 10 minutes but I guess that’s why you’re in a prime location with a half empty restaurant

Took 10 minutes to be greeted and helped at the front entrance. I had a simple burger, broccoli and chips to go. You forgot the broccoli that was clearly printed on the ticket.

The place has the worst service in all of Alabama. It’s so sad, because the food is good. Last time I went & waited 2 hours with no apology. This time I called in an order & they “forgot” about it. Will not go back. Really sad!
