Opinions de Carpe Diem Napa
Wonderful corner restaurant with a small feel and amazing dishes. They have outdoor seating as well to accommodate more people. We had a Cesar salad and Octopus salad (highly recommended), and a NY Strip plus and the Short Ribs with Mushroom Risotto. Everything smelled fantastic and tasted amazing! The NY Strip came with a broccoli puree dip that was so tasty; even for those who don't like to put anything else on their meat it had to be done due to its flavor. The Short Ribs did not need any coaxing to fall apart and paired nicely with the risotto. It had a good bit of salt but that's what assisted with the risotto. We were too stuffed to have any dessert! The mixed drinks (only had 1) are unique and they are very happy with their pouring. Highly recommend to go and try something new.
A top notch wine bar with amazing wines! Quality decor and service and the food was amazing! We tried the white flight, the red velvet flight, the Director’s Flight and the desert wine flight (which wasn’t on the menu but was suggested by the waiter, Genaro (ask for him, he’s amazing)). All were scrumptious! You can’t do any better than this place when in the area!
Maggie was the best waitress we've ever had. She was so knowledgeable, sweet and accommodating. The cocktails were so incredible - kudos to the bartenders! The beetroot salad was divine. Lovely atmosphere.
Our best meal on our 2 night trip. The rack of lamb was perfection. The diver scallops were also cooked perfectly. Carrot cake and ice cream was scraped clean off the plate. Thank you for our 35th anniversary dinner. It couldn't have been better. Good street parking and a parking structure close by. Go have a great meal here.
Great place for dinner. Made reservations and were quickly sat. Wait staff did a great job and was very attentive. Food was great and well priced.
Absolutely delicious food (small portions of the dish my friend and I ordered notwithstanding), friendly, prompt service, and low-key atmosphere - busy, but not too loud, with low lighting. Wonderful wine list. The squid-ink fettucini is divine. Would love to return if we’re in the area again!
OMG!!!! Best Chilean Sea Bass I ever tasted!!! So silky and tasty. Risotto also captured so many flavors that combine became an exciting moment for my palate! I say Napa has a great spot called Carpe Diem Restaurant!!!! I would go back in a heartbeat!!! The owner, Jose, is so attentive. Love this place!!!!
Visited Carpe Diem for restaurant month, on a last minute reservation, and we're so glad we did! Delicious crab arancini, followed by a buttery, delicate branzino that sat atop a heavenly pile of mash. Dessert of a "twix" now forms a core memory, and my taster bite of bread pudding was so delicious! Service was cheerful and swift on a busy busy night, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
I picked this restaurant at random, the first one I saw as I came out of the parking garage. To my surprise this place was pretty good. Great food and great service. First time trying an ostrich burger. It was quite delicious. The flatbread was so good.
Calamari was delicious! Cocktails were delightful! Loved the duck and the chicken Parmesan was tender and tasty!
Came here for a quick dinner after a spa day. This was a great find that we saw while walking around a day prior. We made a reservation just to be sure. We started withthe pork belly appetizer, which was so tender. Great glaze on top. For entrees, I had the pork milanese, which was very good, and came with salad. My wife had the duck a lorange, which didn't disappoint either. A quality meal indeed. Our server was Chika, and she was fantastic. She knew the menu front to back and had great suggestions. They also brought out free ice cream to celebrate my wife's recent birthday. Parking might be tricky, but you can walk from hotels. If you're in the area, set a reservation, and drop in for a great meal.
Great ambiance, good food, overall cool place for date night, couples' night, or even family night. Wanted to try this place a few visits ago so this time I was determined to make it happen. The food is delish and offers a variety of different cuisine. They have everything from pasta, burgers, steak, seafood....it's endless and everyone is sure to find something they like. Our group had a few cocktails which were good, but we also brought a bottle of champagne, and the corkage is $20. Service was great. Forgot our servers name but he and his team were very attentive, granted it was super busy. Parking can be a challenge since it's downtown, but it's not the worst. Cool place with good drinks and food; I would definitely return.
Very nice restaurant. We dropped by for dinner (On a pre-booking). The place was full, so you definitely need a booked table in order to get in. The food choices are great with 2-5 extra daily specials. They have a nice wine selection and a great craft cocktail menu. There is part of the restaurant that is a full bar The food was very delightful - definitely a place to visit - also again.
Sipped on a Moscow Mule. Enjoyed and ordered Dungeness crab appetizer twice just for the umami!!! Had the Diver Scallops which were cooked to perfection paired with Risotto which crunched and melted delicately with every bite!! The boyfriend got chicken parm-also delicious!! Would definitely visit Carpe Diem again as the service was spectacular!!
Nice classy place. The owner was very welcoming and even gave me some background on the building. The meal was fantastic. I had the Sweet Chili Calamari to start and the breading was nice and flaky, calamari was tender. After I had the Frenched Lamb rack. It was cooked to a perfect medium per my opinion (which is debatable). And paired with a local Pinot Noir, Crisp home fries and French green beans. The meal and atmosphere were calming. I had an outside table and got some good pics. DEFINITELY recommend!
We had a great experience at Carpe Diem in downtown Napa. Luckily, we arrived during happy hour and took full advantage — enjoying a few glasses of delicious Cabernet at a great price. We also shared a generous charcuterie board that really impressed us. It came with a fantastic variety of cheeses, olives, nuts, dried apricots, and a flavorful fig spread that tied everything together perfectly. It was the ideal pairing for the wine. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, making it a great spot to relax and unwind without any pretense. The service was excellent, with staff who were both friendly and attentive throughout our visit. If you’re in Napa and looking for a laid-back place with great wine, tasty bites, and top-notch service, Carpe Diem is definitely worth a stop.
My husband took me here for my birthday. Bartender hooked us up with his amazing house drinks and crab appetizer, as we waited to be seated for dinner. The owner, Gabriel, waited on us and the food was perfect! We just happened to walk up the street to find a place to eat for my birthday and glad we chose Carpe Diem and definitely will be going back! ❤️
Carpe Diem offers an outstanding dining experience, especially if you’re a wine enthusiast. The wine flight was a highlight—customized to my palate, each selection was perfectly matched, making for an unforgettable experience. I appreciated that they didn’t stick to a preset flight, which added a personal touch. The staff is fantastic, but the hostesses deserve special mention—they truly made the meal worthwhile with their warm and welcoming service. As for the food, the short rib was enjoyable, but not something to rave about. While good, it wasn’t the star of the evening. However, between the exceptional service and the incredible wine flight, Carpe Diem is definitely worth a visit.
We had a very nice time here. The food was excellent, the wines were nice and the service was friendly. The food was also not your traditional fair. It all had a bit of a fancy twist to it. Case in point, the steak tartare was topped with a raw quail egg in a half shell and the Twix dessert was definitely not a candy bar. It was made with ice cream, cookies and carmel. Worth going to. Recommended.

This is a corner cafe in the heart of Napa , CA. Ambiance is a very welcoming but a little crowded. Very busy during dinner. Very pleased with the service and have to say it is one of the reason I would go back. The other reason is the food. I had the"Lamb". I was asked how I wanted it cooked? I stated I would leave it up to the Chef. I'm glad I did. Cooked perfectly. You will not be disappointed if eating here.
I hadn’t been there in a Few years and liked the new remodel and expansion to having a private room for large parties. Instead of the restaurant month special, we ordered a few appetizers and a bottle of wine. It was comfortable to hang out and with a baby we had a booth which made it even nicer. Our server was friendly and entertaining.
We came here on a Saturday, it was very crowded. We were sat next to a party of 20 or more, so as we expected the service was lacking. Everything took super long, but the food was excellent! I had the carbonara, and it was luscious! My friends loved their branzino, and the steaks were tender. A bit pricey, but it's napa. They also gave the birthday girl one of the most delicious bread puddings we've ever had. I highly recommend coming here for your special occasion, maybe not on a Saturday night though.
We came for happy hour after attending a wedding reception. The place overall has potential. However, when we got there, on a Friday night, it was pretty sparse. The food had potential but DEFINITELY needed seasoning. The star of the show was the bartender, I forgot his name, but his drinks were very well- balanced and incredibly tasty. In spite of their incredibly underwhelming and sparse stocked bar. I might go back one more time to try some other food choices in hopes that they'll be better. But, I'll DEFINITELY be back for drinks with the aforementioned bartender because they were that good.
Appetizers are great, entrees are not. The salad was bright, fresh, and light. Enjoyed the lemon vinagarette. The mushroom Flatbread was really tasty. great Mushroom taste, and the dough didn't take away from the bite. Fresh herbs on it would have been a home run. Calimari wasn't greasy and the chili sauce was delicious. but a bit too many fried onions but the fried green beans were an unexpected treat! Scallops cooked well but the cauliflower was totally bland. Pork two ways was a disappointment. Pork waaaaay overcooked, polenta temperature was cool....not warm at all. Braised cabbage was the best thing on the plate. And the glazed pork belly was delicious as well. Service was friendly and timed our food well. Just watch the check. The server inadvertsntly input my drink twice. Manager noticed me looking around and did a great job anticipating I had an issue and solved it immediately.
We sat at the bar and I had the most delicious gin cocktail with charred rosemary, watermelon, mint and lime! I also had the Caesar salad and mushroom and cheese flatbread. My friend had the beet salad and the rice balls appetizer. Our bartender was excellent and the owner was very friendly and accommodating!

My cocktail was amazing. The side we shared as an appetizer(Brussel sprouts) was amazing. Our entrées were amazing. The service was great. The music was horrible! It was bubblegum pop covers of classic pop/rock hits. WITH ADS! Including an ad for urethra health!!!!

Party of 8 with the $85 price fixed menu on Christmas. Had a very confusing voicemail and then conversation with someone from the restaurant asking if we were “sure” that’s what we wanted. Seemed very weird and unprofessional. Should have taken it as a sign! Several of us ordered the same dishes and the lack of consistency was pretty startling. Same fish dish with one person’s fillet twice as thick as the other. Two medium fillet mignons, one good and the other overcooked. Other mains lacked flavor. Generally not worth the price. Visiting local and SF family but we won’t be back.

Followed the recommendations from yelp. The charcuterie board was rather okay-ish, but in my opinion too little cheese for 36 USD. The wines on tap (by the glass) were a bit disappointing, the good ones were only served by the bottle. The espresso martini was good though. The service however could be better. We felt like it was more sales than service, always trying to convince us to order more food. Could have been a bit more subtle.
Me and my husband visiting napa for new year decided to have dinner here my husband had lamb i had sea bass without the fish in it they served me skin of the sea bass then got the nerve to charge me 40 dollars I'm trying to have a nice new years dinner with my husband he enjoyed his lamb never again wasn't impress never again ruin my new years dinner
Made dinner reservations for a party of three for this past Sunday Jan. 4th. for 6:30 pm. I used their automated machine on the telephone to make the reservation. On arrival to Carpe Diem we found a dark , locked restaurant with a typed note on the door saying that they were closed for the night to celebrate their hard working staff who were apparently so overworked that no one bothered to turn off the reservation service or make a notation on their website.Hope you all had fun. WE DID NOT!!!!!!!
