My father, John Vetter, and his friend, Jack West, created Parsnip when I was about 10 or so. My father was a Local 25 electrician and did the electrical work and was a bar tender there after they opened. Great memories of that place!

This is "THE BEST SPOT" on long island. Wonderful vibe, great bartenders, and amazing views of the lake. Would give an extra star for the Rock bands they invite to play over the weekends...

They have a deck facing the lake and having a beer there while watching the sunset is spectacular. The staff is great and locals are nice and welcoming. The selection of beers is decent. Would go there again.

Great view! Owner is pretty cool and you may find yourself with a free drink in front of you from time to time if you are lucky! Good local hang out with nice people, olderish crowd but that's ok, they are the funnist!

Parsnips by the lake. This bar has had some wonderful transformation from what it used to be. Oh boy you didn't go near this place years ago. But now. Oh my goodness it is a joy to go here. The atmosphere has completely changed. Especially Friday and Saturday nights during the summer. The bands outside if it's nice out this is the place to be. Especially around when they start about 8:00 p.m. because the sun is still going down as they begin. Some really good bands. Surprisingly good. And so much fun. I've been riding around the lake and then just stop in here to listen step out look at the stars and the moon as it holds over the lake as the music washes over you in the background. The music is inside wow is it loud. Very loud. But you can always be outside if it's not raining and still here at Crystal clear. But inside it's so loud it's a small place I mean what do you expect but it can get very packed in there as well. Really what a transformation. Especially standing outside with the lights overlooking the lake It's just really a wonderful place to stop and you'd never really know it from the road because it's such a terrible parking lot It's so small and really hard to get in and out of if it looks packed don't even try and pull in just park across the street and in the gas station they allow it. And or down the road near it. On the side streets. Really if you haven't tried it for a live music on Fridays and Saturdays this is such a wonderful venue. It's an older crowd for sure. But I'm an older crowd person. Mixed with some young people but mostly older people. Great place to ride your motorcycle to. Bravo for the transformation I know it's been transformed for a few years now but worth mentioning for sure.

Nice little bar on a beautiful lake. Live music on most nights with no cover. Fantastic staff and really nice owner. They do not serve food here, However, you can have food brought in from other places. The only thing I would change is that the music is usually too loud.

Love this place . A coworker of mine showed me it. My expectations weren’t crazy but the second I walked in here , the locals made me feel like family & it’s been that way since . I come here every week & the patrons along with the bartender Charissa are awesome . Good beer options on tap & always have the good games on the TV’s . Very nice view of lake ronkokoma too . Never a dull moment here .

Wow awesome place first time visiting last. At first the building looks really small from the outside but once you enter, you realize that there’s a huge back patio where you can walk right down to the water. The people were super friendly. The bartender was nice. The band was amazing, the girl up there was killing! We will definitely be back

As an Irish guy living nearby, I was a regular in this bar on a Friday and Saturday Night way back in the 80s and 90s. Such a fantastic place with great music and great conversation with the crowd. Met great people there and have great memories of the fantastic bartenders and friendly staff.

Very interesting service this past weekend. I couldn’t believe my eyes when the bartender walked in looking…well let’s just say very “happy” to see me. And it certainly brightened my day. But I can’t say the same for my mother-in-law. She’s one of those pearl-clutching Connecticut types, so when she saw the bartender looking so…comfortable… my mother-in-law nearly fell over in her chair! Lol definitely will be back, very memorable times to be had :)

Very basic, relatively small bar. No food but you can bring in outside food. Big outside deck and beach on Lake Ronkonkoma in summer.

I'm sure it's much better in the warmer weather but staff was very friendly and atmosphere had a great vibe

They renovated the deck area and it looks good. They added a garage door that bring the party outside. They also added a small stage for bands & karaoke. It's nice local place check it out.

So— this place has me perplexed. I feel like John Taffer needs to come here and haul this place and make it what it’s worth. The first thing I asked for when I sat at the bar was a drink menu. The bartender did a 💁🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️we don’t have one? Idk I’d think a bar on one of the most famous Long Island lakes would be a little more high end. The landscaping and overall care of the building is lacking. Rocks everywhere / Old chairs and cushions kinda thrown in the corner and dirty. Despite many signs asking smokers (and I’m a smoker) to use receptacles. There were cigarette butts lodged in between the deck boards outside. This place has SO MUCH potential. The beach view is beautiful and the set up for the band outside looked really nice m- but we were leaving then. The bathrooms were also filthy. The bartender made me a nice drink, good amount of alcohol and around 10 bucks. But come ON guys. You have so much potential for that place. Overall I would return because of the view and the staff were nice.

The set up in this bar is great, on the smaller side. They have a giant window overlooking Lake Ronkonkoma, along with a nice deck. Beer selection is good and they had live music that had people in the bar singing along. Service wasn’t bad, but the first person was A little neglectful at times. The owner came in and was a very nice guy, he’s recently taken over and is ironing it all out. I for one am looking forward to going back.

Biggest complaint is the lack of parking for a place that has a stage

This could be a really great place. On the water of Lake Ronkonkoma. But the place needs alot of work. The bathrooms need to be redone. The outside deck and patio really need to be redone. Back in the day they even served bar food. If they do all these things this place would be the spot to go!!

Definitely a hole in the wall that you can get used too. Always open late night. The regulars in this place are entertainment alone. It's not bad, plus it's down the street from Little Vincents 🍕

After we went out, we would come here real late night to sleep with older married chicks. 100% success rate, but I suggest you get them beer goggles on first

Very small place. Drinks were good. Live music was very good. (A guy named Joey). DJ was supposed to start after live music ended, but he was late. When he did finally show, Mixes were awkward. Ended up leaving. Just an ok place in my opinion. Still too cold to hang out on the outside deck, but looks like they are working on it. Nice view of the lake off of the deck.

Place is nothing to write about honestly Weekly locals that are rude and people are very clicky and catty Bartenders ignore u for drinks unless they know u or your male. They make up different prices on same drinks depending on who serves you . Just not what I expected people acting boujee in a place like that just crazy 🙄🙄🙄

What a dump. 8:00 on a Saturday night, prime time, and the place was empty. It's like a time-machine trip to a 1980's bar...without the crowd. Replete with lazy, unprofessional bartender sitting on her ass at the bar watching TV. Ridiculous. Why even bother opening?

Don't come for open mic. They'll put you on the back burner. They'll put you on last even if you sign up third because personal preference or they dont know you. I'm entertaining your crowd for free. Have some respect next time. Im young but I have more time spent on that guitar and microphone than any old folk in there. Also drinks were overpriced.

I was there having a drink and tipped the bartender 20 dollars to be thrown out by security bc the bartender got in her feels. I had to go back and get my debit card too!!!
