Opinions de Italian Latin Bakery New Hyde Park
This place is just about the best bakery around when it comes to all the Italian treats you can ever gather your taste buds for. The owner has a level of commitment that is a throwback to the great quality that was once an everyday standard; think the long-gone Jahn's Ice-cream Parlor or Trunz Meat Market or Danish Maid Bakery, if you happen to know the area from decades ago. He has great people working for him, too.
It's one of the best bakeries in the area! Its a small place, and almost missed, unless you know its there- but their cakes are amazing and service is great! I've tasted just about everything they have, my favorites are the nutella cheesecake and the brownie balls (both of which I can't find at any other bakery). Their prices are also very reasonable. I love going there!
I needed to bring desserts to my future daughter in law's shower. The mini cannolis were a big hit as were the cookies. I'm so glad I went with the positive reviews, I don't often eat pastries but the guests loved them. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating!
The best of the best here. The cookies are always fresh and the coffee is the only thing I need in my mornings to wake me up. Staff is fantastic and the cakes are always moist and amazing. I'm so lucky to have them close to me.
Their breakfast sandwich on a croissant is the best anywhere. Good quality bacon in every bits, the entire crossisant filled with whatever you selected and the warm sticky yet cripsy croissant never fails to please. They have good baked goods as well but the reason I come is for their breakfast sandwiches on croissants. Their hot cocoa is made with milk so you may want to try that as well.
Came for the first time on Christmas Eve and the line was out the door -even with all that craziness the staff was still helpful and went above and beyond. The best pastries in town. Definitely has become our new favorite spot.
Great cookies, pastries, cakes and cannolis. Every time I buy things from here for family events or friends, everything all gets race reviews... The cakes, pignolis, rainbow, and other italian cookies... Their filled to order Cannolis are amazing
UPDATE: Tony retired. Hopefully they won't change the recipes. The best Sicilian pastries and cannoli in NYC! Don’t bother driving to the Bronx, the real deal is right here. Tony Marzullo is from Polizzi Generosa, in the heart of Sicily in the Madonie mountain range. My maternal grandfather was also a “Polizzano.” Grazie, Toní e vi auguriamo cent’anni di successo!!
Their grain pie got better. I'm interested in trying more of the pastries 🍰
They did a great job on my mother's birthday cake and my son's graduation cake.
I been a customer here for 15 years. I dont understand the negative reviews as they are top class. My favorite is the cannoli cake. I could eat it all by myself. Today is my Birthday and I'm getting one today😃
Out of this world Napoleon cake💚💙💗💖💛💜💝💞💟. My sister picked one up today for Mommy's 90th birthday😙😚😇🤗.SO FRESH.SO LIGHT.SO FLAKY.SO CREAMY..SO DELICIOUS.You will not be disappointed in the selections at this bakery.TOP NOTCH🙋👏🖒❤💘
The staff are very nice. Their mini pastries are to die for, especially their napoleons. Very Italian style bakery with a homey, neighborhood feel.
Marzullo's is truly a gem on Long Island. I recommend the pastries and Rainbow cookies to bring to events. The cakes are not overly sweet, they are created to perfection. The bakers really care about their craft and the owner Tony cares about his clients. If you have something specific in mind he will try his best to accommodate you, just make sure to communicate your wants and need. His cakes are great for any occasion, he does not use fondant because he cares more about taste over looks... if you are a true foodie you will appreciate that! Would this establishment be in business for over 30 years if it was not great?? I think not! Stop in for some pastries and you will not regret it!
Nice and friendly workers and very helpful The cakes looks fresh and they are really helpful to tell about the ingredients Thank you
I will start this review by saying that I don't have a sweet tooth and I rarely EVER eat cake or any sweets. So the following is a testament so just how INCREDIBLE Marzullo's cakes are. I first discovered this bakery because my sister ordered a custom chocolate sponge cake for her baby shower and upon tasting it I could not believe how incredibly moist, soft and just absolutely delicious the cake was! It has the perfect amount of sugar, not at all too sweet (which I hate), is extremely fluffy and it melts in your mouth with very little chewing necessary. Their frosting taste so fresh and again, not overly sweet. Every part of the cake's consistency has been perfected. I proceeded to order a custom chocolate cake with french filling for my gf the very next week. The lady on the phone was extremely helpful and accommodating with my order. Great customer service and patient. And the cake I ordered: exactly the same in terms of extremely high quality and unbelievable taste which speaks to their recipes. I will never order another cake from anywhere else. Would highly recommend!
When it comes to support local businesses this one is your best opportunity. The products are fresh, reasonable prices and best customer service ever. They have a lot of variety as well. Totally recommend.

Picked up a cannoli cake Sunday evening on a whim. Was delicious! Fresh and reasonably priced. Excellent service with a full coffee bar and cute atmosphere.
Got a variety of desserts tonight.. Mini lemon meringue, chocolate mousse cream puff, chocolate pudding cream puff plus sesame cookies and raspberry chocolate dipped cookie ALL were excellent! Fresh and not too sweet! Can't wait to return for more ! Enjoyed every bite! Thank you!.
Great bakery, amazing Italian Cookies, go visit right now and try something different, dulce the Leche cookie a must!!!
We can’t thank Marzullo’s enough for the incredible St. Joseph’s pastries they made for our Leisure Club luncheon. The pastries were unbelievably fresh, and the filling was absolutely to die for. As always they did a fantastic job.
A simple old school Italian Bakery. No fluff, just good pastries, cake and cookies. The owner takes personal pride in making his customers happy. My favorite are the mini pineapple tarts. My next favorite are the delicious cream puffs. Very reasonable prices. There are two tables if you want to sit.
You absolutely need to visit this bakery! The pan de bono is out of this world—soft, fresh, and perfectly flavorful. The cakes are an absolute treat, beautifully made and delicious, while the lemon drop cookies are the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. On top of the amazing food, the staff is incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive, making the whole experience unforgettable. Don’t miss out on this gem!
Our favorite bakery! Whether it is a cake, pastry, or cookies It's always fresh. The owner is super nice and accommodating. Recommended for all occasions!
Great place to spend the afternoon drinking a cup of coffee while chatting with the regulars. The atmosphere is very inviting and the store has a small-town bakery ambiance to it.The cookies and rainbow cookies especially are delicious. The cafe has the best cappachinos around. The place is spotless, and has a wonderful bakery smell.
Awesome bakery and cafe. Excellent and outstanding customer service. All cakes and pastries prepared on premises. Nice assortment to choose from. I bought the carrot cake and it was off the chart fresh and delicious. Coffees also fresh and delicious. Super highly recommended.

Amazing treats and affordable prices! The pastries and cakes are delicious, I've had the cream puffs, eclair, cannoli, pignolis, and the apple walnut cake. The cream puffs were very delicious along with the eclairs. I found the cream to be the right level of sweetness and perfect enough to keep wanting more. The variety of cream puffs is also enticing, I tried the cannoli cream puff which I absolutely loved. I am not an Italian cookie person (all taste dry to me) but there is a huge display of those cookies, with an assortment of cakes and other pastries surrounding.
The Tres Leche cake is out of this world. I'm not into "wet" cake. The baker infused the Tres Leche into the batter, making a moist and delicious cake. The icing was a perfect touch, not overly sweet, but light and airy. This will be on my dessert table for Easter.
Beautiful small cafe area in this bakery. They make a wonderful strawberry cakes and cookie platters as gifts. As a fyi, the parking space is very limited.
Small and quaint. On short notice they baked a reveal cake for me which was delicious and a lower price than the bigger bakeries. Service is friendly, pastries, cakes and pies are very tasty. Most times lately just one baker available to take orders but it just might be the covid times we find ourselves in. Would highly recommend.
Cannolis are good But 3 leches not, doesn’t have dulce de leche in between, wasn’t soaked in Milk, just when they ask you if you want “extra” milk in the container. They don’t know how to make a good tres leches. Will be back eventually to try other cakes and cookies.

Went here for St Joseph pastry. They had yellow Custard or cannoli cream. The cakes look delicious. I will try them the next time, I go for cakes.
Well, I tried this bakery due to good reviews but sorry, I had better. I'm also extremely picky with my desserts. Their cookies are good but the ones from the Buttercooky are way better. I also tried ines but that was greasy for me and the cannoli cream inside was just ok. Again, I had better ones from others. I may give another chance if I happen to be in the area but I won't be driving there just to visit the bakery.
Very nice staff and helpful the display windows were very pretty but was very disappointed from the cookies I had, they were not fresh at all and had an after taste to them. Not sure I'll come back for their Amaretto or Paniole cookies.

Merry Christmas! I am sorry to sound like a scrooge to complain and only give 3 stars for service. I ordered a pound of assorted pastries in addition to one pound each of rainbow cookies, pingnioli, and cannoli’s. I asked, if possible, to substitute the cannoli in the pound of pastries…because I was already ordering a pound of cannoli. So instead of pastries, I received an extra pound of cannoli. I called but received no apology or offer to make it right. It was my fault because they thought I was asking to substitute the pastries for cannoli's. I didn’t want to argue. Thank you anyway but I have been a customer of Marzullos (now Italian and Latin Bakery) for many many years and I will not be coming back.
Bought a rainbow cake filled with canolli cream. I love rainbow cookies and desserts but this one was extremely sweet. Wasn’t such a great cake. Also bought a beef empanada. Not so great either. Would definitely not go back. Been there once before and wanted to give the place another try but still found the pastries to be not to my liking.
Went in for a birthday cake for my Daughter's 18th birthday. I decided to buy a slice of carrot cake also.. the writing on cake had crumbs on it , could barely see the writing on cake clearly , the slice of cake was looking like some mice or somebody took small tiny bites of it , also the slice was stale. So i decided to go to buttercooky instead and buy another birthday cake for my daughter cause I dont trust that cake fom here will be of good quality.

what i ordered vs what i got. supposed to be a nice assortment and instead they gave me assorted cream puffs with 1 cannoli, 1 eclair, 1 fruit tart. i called them and the guy i spoke to said “customers call me all the time when they order the assorted pastries but i tell them that i’m giving them an assortment of CREAM in their cream puffs” 🤔 so instead of fixing the website description or actually giving assorted pastries, they’re just being defensive lol. it’s just not what i ordered

I ordered the $25 mix pastry on Crystal plate. It was sent in a box without a crystal plate. And your description clearly states that mini cannolis is included in the mix of pastries. There are no cannolis. Or a crystal plate. When I called your store I was laughed at by your employees who are young girls. Then they told me oh we’re not laughing at you were laughing at another customers in a store. Then I spoke to a man who is not a manager and he had no idea what I was talking about. And the young girl in the background was screaming that she always makes these trays and never puts in mini cannolis, even though your description clearly states that many cannolis are included on a crystal plate and again there was no cannolis nor crystal plate. In addition here is the pic of what I received vs what the description stated.
I will not go there anymore, The cakes are great when they are fresh. If you get a cake behind he glass your taking a chance of getting a stale old cake. Which is what happened to me two times first time I let it go, second time I brought it back because it was for my daughters birthday and I was upset, it ruined an occasion. When I brought it back to explain this girl who said she worked there a long time, told me all the cakes are fresh, then interrogated me about it, asking me did I ever have that cake before, did I keep it cold, why didn't I call that moment it happened and she was very rude to me. She did give me my money back, and that's all I wanted and an apology and I would have left it at that. But because of her rude attitude and her lack of customer service, is why I m leaving this bad review. my advise if you want a cake from this place order it the day before it's very embarrassing to serve guests a stale cake.
I ordered a napoleon cake over the phone on friday for my wife's 50th birthday on monday. what i found odd was they did not take payment for the cake or want to know what to write on the cake. i expected a freshly baked cake and what i received was what they had in stock. The taste was something like you would expect from costco bakery or worse. the whip cream tasted like cool whip the layers soggy and the custard was terrible. I went out of my way, left work early from manhattan sat in traffic just to have something special for my wife. Thank;s a lot guy's keep up like this and you will be out of business. P.S. the cake went into the garbage where it belongs.
My mom bought a Tiramisu Cake here for my sister's birthday, the lady serving there was very rude but she slipped it away. When we tasted the cake it had horrible and old after taste. We felt embarrassed to our guests! Never ever gonna buy their products anymore!
I have been buying cakes and rainbow cookies here for years. For the past six months or so if you go in after a holiday or on a monday the cakes are old and not fresh. So today I called and asked to have a cake made to order as a frequently do for a monday birthday and the girl told me it would be 20 more than usual. So when I questioned her she said asked me to hold on and spoke to the boss. Who told her because I was feeding 20 people I needed a bigger cake. I said I would like the cake the size of the cake normally in the display. She told me she needed to use the phone and hung up on me. I called back and was yelled at by the "boss" . Basically they have great cake but make sure you get there Tuesday -sunday and not after a holiday. Because you are getting sloppy seconds. And as for the customer service I received today. She should take a lesson from the lady that is normally there! It only takes one bad experience to loss a customer. Last monday was my last visit there!!!!
Customer Service - True Colors This is a letter I wrote to the Owner: Dear Owner : You won three dollars and lost a customer. Was it worth it? On July 4, 2014, I went to pick up a rainbow cookie cake with cannoli filling that was pre-ordered on July 2nd, two days beforehand, by my sister. I did not know what the cake should look like, so when I went to the store, I was given, simply, a rainbow cookie cake without the cannoli filling. I was unaware of the fact that this was the wrong cake, and as such, brought it to my sister’s house. When my sister saw the cake, she said that it was the wrong one, and she called to clear up the matter. The person at Marzullo’s who spoke to her was placing the blame on her, saying that she had ordered the cake that I had picked up, even though my sister had called beforehand to make sure the order was placed correctly. She was told before that, yes, she would be getting a rainbow cookie cake with cannoli filling, specifically, from the person she had talked to last. However, when contacting them after I had returned with the wrong cake, the person on the phone (not the same one who had assured her that the cake would be the one she wanted) had insisted that she did not speak to anyone else, and had ordered the cake that had been given to me. The fact of the matter is, the blame was placed on the customer, and the way in which it was handled was not polite in the least, when my sister was just trying to explain the situation to the person on the phone. After some discussion, the person said to bring back the cake that I had picked up, and that they would give us the correct rainbow cannoli cake. I spent my time and gas to go back to exchange the cake. However, once I arrived, I was informed that the rainbow cookie cake with the cannoli filling was, apparently, $3.00 more than the cake that I had paid for. So, I gave my credit card to the lady, but I was then informed by her that there is a minimum charge to use the credit card. At this point I was very frustrated with the way that everything was turning out. Not only had there been a mistake in the order―my sister was accused for making the mistake, and was rudely treated on the phone, and now, I had to pay extra money for the correct cake, the cake that had, in fact, been ordered and confirmed. along with this, there was no flexibility to charge the additional $3.00 to the credit card, even though I had paid $25.00 a mere half an hour ago. I paid the $3.00 in cash, and left for good. You probably have a great rainbow cannoli cake, but I will never go back to your bakery. The way that this transaction was resolved was uncalled for, only causing stress for all of its participants, and was handled in all of the wrong ways and with a poor attitude. There is a saying: “Goodwill can be achieved by many actions and lost by one.” I have never been to this place before, and my first impression of the place, before the whole situation, was one of curiosity. It seemed to be a very nice place, and I had even considered getting other items one day from here. However, with the way that this situation was handled, I will not consider going back there again. So yet again, I must ask―was my $3.00 worth the fact that you lost a customer?
I ordered cake for my daughter's 18th bday. Told them no pink, asked for purple. The customer service girl rude, owner get on phone with attuide, tell me never come there again if I don't like how decorated it. He was so nasty and the cake had red jelly on it as decorated it never in my life would asked for that he tells me that how decorated it. I has their cake once though restaurant party few weeks b4 no jelly on it. All I have say never give them a penny of business. They don't deserve it at all. Don't use this place!
Truly the worst Strawberry shortcake we have ever eaten. The cream, cake and strawberry filling all independently tasted very off. I also had personalized writing for a Birthday and my three year old would have executed it better. It’s sad because I want to support local businesses but this was unacceptable to sell.
We bought 3 items from the store 2 cup cake And a slice of tiramisu. We got to the car and opened the box of the tiramisu hand of the pastry was stuck to the top of the container as it looked like it was stale. I went back inside And asked to replace it they says they need 30 mins to defrost another one. In that moment I realized they have nothing fresh all frozen stuff. So asked for a refund and the guy started yelling And didn’t give the refund. So I told the guy you can eat it. Guess what he didn’t he threw it away making me realize another thing that the workers don’t eat anything there so I there the cup cake also in the garbage don’t wanna get sick
Our large family has been regularly using this bakery for years. Through the past year or so it has gradually diminished In quality and price. But this Father’s Day they literally took the cake! Picked out a fruit tart and they took it to the back to write on it. For the first time we were not shown the tart like always and was already boxed and tied. Upon opening this fruit tart, it was not the one we picked with the berries kiwis and strawberries. But a strawberry only and stale crumb. I think that’s in reprehensible to do and our large family will never go there again. Hope they enjoyed pulling the wool over our eyes and losing dedicated customers. There’s no reason to lie! You didn’t show us the cake, you did bait and switch the fruit cake.
