I usually don’t give restaurants a 5/5 but as someone who always buys and dines at their Rockaway location, I truly enjoyed this Nanking ! The decor, location, food, parking, service etc ! I loved it all. Me and my gf went and we were treated good, workers were nice and they were lots of vegetarian options ! I enjoyed the soup, vegetable rolls , Vegetarian Manchurian and desert ! All was amazing and I would definitely definitely come back here ! Would recommend to anyone that likes Indian-Chinese fusion !

We went here for the first time today, and arrived around 5pm. Our server was Jubehr, and he was friendly and courteous. The restaurant was clean and elegant looking, and we had it mostly to ourselves at that time. We had samosa chaat, crispy honey chicken, the bread sampler, chicken tikka masala, and pineapple fried rice. Everything was delicious in flavor, texture, and appearance. I had what was possibly the best mango lassi I ever had, the samosa chaat was smaller dumplings than I’m used to, but the dough was flaky and crisp without being chewy. The pineapple fried rice was served with larger than usual pieces of white meat chicken that seemed to have been marinated in the sweetness of the pineapple juice. Even the dessert we got, which was just vanilla ice cream, seemed to be creamier and richer than regular ice cream, making me wonder if they made it in house. The bread, too, was crisp on the outside, but soft on the inside. Some people are saying the food quality isn’t consistent, so maybe going during a slow period enabled the kitchen to provide us more attention. We are definitely going back. We have plenty of leftovers for the weekend too. If you can’t decide what you want, being able to back and forth between Indian and Asian fusion on the menu (the menu comes in three parts) gives you plenty of options to bounce ideas off your palate.

Best Indo Chinese you can get in Long Island. It’s been more than 10 years I have been going there and they never disappoint. Same great taste consistently makes them different and successful than other Indo Chinese restaurants in the neighborhood. Apart from food their service is also amazing. Extremely friendly staff serving up excellent Indian and Asian Fusion cuisine. There are so many menu options - everyone will find something they like. The atmosphere is a chill vibe. Great place to eat and have a conversation without having to scream. They spi e the food to your desired preference and they are very helpful if you have questions about the menu. This is a great place for those who enjoy expanding their pallette by trying new things, but you can still find familiar dishes if you like sticking to what you know. Give it a try!

Friendly and attentive service! We dined in for a friends birthday, seeing that we walked in with presents the hostess took initiative to ask if it was a birthday. Dinner was outstanding. Extensive menu with many great options. Sweet, savory, and spicy dishes for all palates. Of course, a surprise cake with a candle came to the table and they sang happy birthday. Such a great experience!

First time there from a friend’s recommendation and we were pleasantly surprised by how personable and hospitable their servers are! Kids loved it and got complimentary mango lassi because they overheard our kids saying the chicken tikka masala is slightly on the spicy side (kids 4 and 6 and love chicken tikka masala and had spicier ones before). Our server was very attentive and personable! Food came out fast with great taste and temperature exactly to our liking! Naan was fresh and just the right amount of crispy, chicken tikka masala has very tender mouth melting chickens better than some of the other ones we had before in other places. Perfect ambiance with adjustable table light. And we noticed that there was no stopping with people ordering cocktails or blender drinks. Must give them a try next time!!!

I tried the soup, vegetable rolls, Paneer Chilli, Malai Kofta, Naan, Cauliflower Manchurian, Chili Cauliflower, and Nanking Fried Rice, along with dessert. Every single item was flavorful, well-prepared, and satisfying. It is rare to find a place where each dish stands out, but this location really delivered. I have absolutely no idea why the reviews for this place aren’t higher. This is the best indo chinese on the east coast, hands down. Service was fantastic and every single dish was a show stopper. And that’s not even mentioning the very reasonable prices. Will come back many many times!

Food and service was good. The handicapped bathroom was a huge problem for me. For some reason the floor was very slippery. The hand rails were a great help. I had to hold on to them, then the sink, the paper dispenser and the door handle before I could get out of there without falling.

Decent hotel for all kind of Chinese and India food. We ordered Indian appetizer., Chinese soup and chines entreee. The food quality was good and staff of the hotel. Was friendly too. I would strongly recommended to give your order ready ASAP if you are hungry and because they will take much time to bring your food to your table. Quality was good, service was slow, ambience is good, location is great, parking is enough.

This is a Thai , Chinese and Indian fusion restaurant! They have a wide variety of food on the menu! I love their biryani, chicken dumplings , tikka masala, and the noodles ! Ive tried more food but can't remember haha! I've had good experience everytime I went there! I have seen that a lot of people said in the review no French fries , no nuggets , no kids menu! This is not a fast food!!! It's an Asian restaurant, Asian foods aren't nuggets and French fries lol and restaurants don't come with kids menu, fast food does! So those complaining about the food choices must know first what type of restaurant you're going to! This is isn't a basic Mc Donald's or some fast food that the ones with kids are expecting ! It's a little upper class restaurant 😕 all in all, great food, great atmosphere, friendly staff and price is reasonable !

So, I’ve been ordering from this restaurant from awhile and I finally got to visit! I went here with my family on a Saturday night. It took us about two minutes to secure a spot for a table of 6. We got a great seat with a lovely view of the ambience. I liked Siddhartha Gautama statues, red lanterns, soft lighting, floating lotuses and comfortable seats. The AC is at a comfortable temperature - not too cold. Our waiter was very quick, kind and efficient. I was embarrassed of a particular picky eater who kept sending food back and forth for being “too salty” and “not salty enough”, but he remained accommodating and insisted on getting the dish checked on and remade by the chef. He also checked in on us and offered us a bunch of food suggestions (we had a few people with dietary restriction - someone with endometriosis, someone with IBS and just a few picky folks). I’m a sucker for spicy food and I have little to no dietary restrictions, but for their sake, we ordered medium to mild food in terms of spice level. And it wasn’t tasteless! Flavorful, good stuff despite being mild as advertised. The mocktail selection was lovely. Our table most enjoyed the pina colada and strawberry mango margarita! The strawberry mango margarita is sweet and the ice stings your tongue (I thought it was cool because it was like carbonated soda), while the pina colada has coconut milk present in it, making it creamier and more mildly flavored. We started off with a few soups; I had the Tom Yam and a few of the others had Chicken Corn Soup. The Tom Yam is *meant* to be a citrusy soup and you’re supposed to have the veggies with every sip so it isn’t too citrusy - if you’re not used to that or dislike that, you have a safe bet with the Chicken Corn Soup. It was up to the standards I usually have for Indo-Chinese. Very tasty! I snagged some to have for myself, haha. For the Fried Rice and noodles, I’d recommend the Hakkah Noodles and Garlic Fried Rice with Shrimp! The regular Nanking fried rice was nice too, we had that one with chicken. Anything fish, chicken lolilop and chicken Manchurian is *divine*. I crave Nanking fish every time I’m reminded of it. I’ve ordered a couple other things from here before - the curry fried rice isn’t exactly the best, that one I wouldn’t recommend. The Thai food needs improvement, but their indian food is awesome (I’m south asian so I can attest). The presentation of their food is great though, like something out of a food magazine with the garnishes and the lotus stems and stuff. I usually expect fennel seeds with sugar bits at the end of a dining experience, but Nanking had these sweet little tophies - it’s not sweetie suppati, it’s just hard candy. It was fine. It’s a little pricey for people who aren’t used to NY prices, my party members say they wouldn’t recommend a party that’s larger than 3-4 going! Like 25-35 dollars per person (which is reasonable!). Despite that, it would be an awesome dinner date location. The dining experience was great, the pricing was okay and we stayed for a good while just because the ambience put us in a good mood! It’s a solid restaurant. Make sure to leave a generous tip if you visit because the waiters do really go out of their way to make sure your dining experience goes smoothly! I can’t really attest to this criticism, but a few members in our party did go use the bathrooms and made a complaint or two (again, kind of annoying people so don’t value their opinion too much lol) about the bathrooms being incredibly filthy. Someone did also point out there’s an aquarium in there, though! So that’s cool. So, overall: good food. It’s all halal and kosher (but they do serve cocktails separately - none of the food has alcohol!). You’re paying more for the presentation, ambience, great service and the specialties they have (which is, of course, indian and chinese food - the Thai food needs work). Maybe ask about bathroom maintenance!

We have dined at this location on several occasions over the years. The odd choice of the name aside, it’s a good choice for Indo-Chinese and Mughal / North-Indian cuisine. Good grasp of the basics - naan, dal makhni. Paneer and veg kofta dishes were flavorful. Their variation of lollipop chicken was amazing. The rest of the main courses were predictably good and prepared well.

The food was very okay. The service wasn't great for a bunch of little reasons - the servers handed us plates instead of putting them down on the table, kept pressuring us to order more, and neglected to bring us forks & knives. One server also claimed the "egg noodles" were vegan. My dad loves this place for some reason and always makes the family eat here. I wish we would go somewhere better.

Been here many times, usually know what to expect. Mostly food was good, but.. My husband ordered the lamb vindaloo, which we've ordered many times before at other establishments. This was nearly inedible due to how spicy it was. It was actually ridiculous. Especially, with no indication on the menu or by the waiter when ordering. I brought it up to they waiter and his response was that it's supposed to be that way and it's know to be the spiciest item on their menu. Okay? Lol not sure what to make of it, but just beware if you plan to order this.

Hello viewers, We recently celebrate our son’s 4th year birthday at Nanking location was great big parking lot also the food was amazing. the only thing I hate about that is service it was so slow and restroom were smelling bad Also we had to keep remind them about the drinks and about the food. Seemed a bit overpriced for a glorified indian/chinese restaurant. The restaurants along hillside cost less with more food. Ambiance was ok, pretty chilly inside though. Food was ok. I think if they want to be seen as a more upscale restaurant. The least they could do is bring some bread as you wait for your entree. Took awhile before food came.

Disappointed at the taste of food. The restaurant and party hall looks very nice and some what fancy. They have separate Chinese and Indian menu to choose from. I went to eat on a Saturday around 3pm and it was some what crowded. I ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Tandoori Chicken for 2 people. The Tandoori Chicken did not taste that great but Chicken Tikka Masala was better and the Nan bread was excellent. The Tandoori Chicken tasted "old" and not freshly cooked. I have been going to this restaurant since they opened 15 years ago. Always excellent food and service. I recently was looking for a venue for my daughters graduation party and called to speak to the manager. I have had previous parties there before and the service was excellent. I don’t know if they have changed managers but whoever I spoke to on the phone was beyond rude. He did not answer any questions at all and was so condescending and obnoxious. I ended up hanging up because I was so offended with his behavior. I will never throw another party at Nan King again. I just called to order food for pick up again and the same guy picked up the phone. He started off telling me that there was an hour wait bc there were crazy busy and he barely had patience to take my order. I ordered $160 worth of food. I asked him if the dish I was ordering was a popular dish because I’ve never had it. His answer to me was: excuse me, this is a high end restaurant and everything here is good. Are you kidding me?? Who talks to people like that? Unbelievable. And if he thinks that Nan King is a high end restaurant then he should get out more. Such a shame. It was one of my favorite restaurants. And yes I cancelled my order again because of his attitude. Never again. The only reason I gave it a 2 is because the food is always good there but not worth being disrespected every time you call.

My family used to swear by this food but something has changed…chefs, ownership…something. The Indian, Thai and Chinese food were all flawless at one point. I ordered tikka masala and panang curry last night. The panang was unrecognizable - the color, consistency and taste were completely off. The tikka masala—which we ordered “mild”—was instead medium heat and had no depth of flavor. The rice was hard instead of fluffy and the garlic naan was under seasoned. After 12+ years, we are moving on to find a new restaurant.

This location is usually very good! Good food and service but I’m not sure what had changed but the quality of food and service was subpar. When we called earlier in the day to inquire about the Father’s Day buffet the woman on the phone kept hanging up after answering one question. Took two phone calls to get the information but at no point did she mention what time it would end. And quite honestly wasn’t in the mood to call a third time. When we got there, there was no buffet even though their Facebook said all day. But anyways we chalked that up to being a miscommunication and still ordered. The food was very salty and did not taste the same as before. The service was not great. I asked two different servers for bowls, they never came. I had to ask for empty dishes to be taken away from the table and the water to be refilled. When the server brought out the food he was just rushing and shoving it on to the table without trying to make space for it. The restaurant wasn’t packed but everyone still seemed to rush to do a good and clean job. Very disappointed in the experience especially for the prices they charge. I think with some proper training and better staffing things can really look up!

The food was okay at most. It was average and overpriced for what it really was. You could probably get better food somewhere else for much cheaper. It was definitely not worth it. If you have money to spend and you want to try something new, go for it. Otherwise, I would not recommend it. Overrated and overpriced. My biggest problem with this place was that they have an automatic tip on the bill. However, they don’t tell you about it. They have a gratuity note at the bottom and recommended tip values, almost completely scamming you to give them more money. They should at least let you know about the automatic tip. I asked the guy about it and his answer was all over the place. At first he told me no, but I pointed it out to him and then he quickly changed his answer. People should have a choice on what they want to tip. It shouldn’t be automatic. I have attached a picture of what it said.

We order Pad Thai Noodles , based on. our experience from other restaurants. Here at Nan King it was over cooked and sticky to separate the noodles and taste below average . Fried Chilli Lamb was salty and it overpowered the entire taste . Kai chi and Thai fried rice some what meet the standards. Ambience and service was good .

The manager is rude. He has no clue how to engage in customer service. I ordered some banana more than an hour ago. We went to pick it up and instead of apologizing for forgetting to place our order he said he was “busy”. I guess he was making the nans himself.

I went here again after 10 years on a Friday night. The restaurant was completely dead. The food had this weird bitter taste to it, not so great as I have tried other Indian food. I do not know how this place is still in business as the restaurant was full with only 3 tables on a Friday night.

Place has gone downhill ever since the chef left to PA. Service was horrible. Food was bland after specifying we wanted it spicy. Only good thing about this place is the parking capacity in the back incase you want to host a cheap event.

It was Christmas Eve. We wanted to try out a new restaurant that is a little more fancy to celebrate that day. And let me tell you, go to this restaurant ONLY if you do not care about service in fine dining restaurant. From the moment you step into this place you feel bad vibes, the hostess who is suppose to make you feel welcomed (as most restaurants do) was just a very unpleasant woman who did not show any hospitality at all. Then it just got worse! The waiters do not know anything about costumer service. The food took quite a long time to come out. And then they messed up our order. We left after drinks and appetizers. Because it was just unacceptable how this place does business. Whoever is the owner, please do something about it! You have a beautiful restaurant, and whatever we had food wise was very good. Do yourself a favor, and Train your staff properly.

Let me tell you about the wonder this restaurant is. They come and beautifully put plates in front of you as decoration. And then you must wait at least 1-2 hours before someone takes your order and then another hour to get the food. Please come here knowing that they except you to be there for at least 4+ hours of the day. The waiters also play tag, you're it here. You tell 1 waiter you want to order and that person passes on the message to the next person who also passes it on until it's lost. No professionalism as well with the staff as they were not apologetic when we told them and we left before even eating dinner. Please save your precious time by not coming here unless you would like to see their decorations of empty plates.

This place is extremely overrated. Been here a couple times now hoping my opinion would change but it hasn’t. Most of the food can use more flavor and more spice. The lamb chops and chicken are always too dry for my liking. Each time I’ve ordered from here, the rice has been way undercooked. I also think this place is extremely over priced as well. I know other restaurants near by with better quality food at a much lower price.

Went here today for the Mother’s Day Buffet. Horrible food and a complete scam!!! Food tasted awful. A misrepresentation of Indian food. They charged us 34.95 per person for the buffet instead of the 29.95 advertised by the host. Then they included a $30 gratuity tip on the bill when I went there for a buffet. There was no service, everything was self serve, why was there an automatic tip??? Save your money and go to a different restaurant where you can get GOOD food and your moneys worth!!

Poor Service. Came as a family and ordered about 5-6 dishes. Waited over an hour and ten minutes tonight with no communication on what was taking the food so long. Asked the manager at the one hour mark and he said he will check and let me know. After waiting another ten minutes and him passing us by about 5 times without looking at us my group decided to leave and get Thai food instead. Several people who came after us received their food sooner than us. Things happen and I can understand if you have an issue with our order but communication is key. We ordered one drink a Thai ice tea and the milk was spoiled and we had to send it back. They never brought back the a new drink. Service here has really declined. The staff is rude with snarky comments and very indifferent. Food has been okay and love the taste never had an issue but just cannot handle the terrible service.

Place deserves negative 100 stars they were incredibly rude to my family and terrible service they are atrocious DO NOT GO go to Royal Tangra Masala instead. It’s across the street from the road to better taste. Truly, my taste buds have been burned off by the sharp tongue of the waiters and terrible food. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Walked and a very unpleasant welcome. They placed me at a table where the plates were dirty and there was dirt everywhere. They served my cold rice that looked like it was days old. The sweet and sour chicken was cold and bland. Peppers were not cooked, looked like they were just tossed in the chicken at the end. Overall the whole dish tasted horrible. I would never recommend anyone to go to Nanking again unless you want to be served food that was cold and days old and placed at a dirty table where you are sitting in dirt with dirt in your eating utensils.

Judgemental front desk service. Came in for a group of 6 and stated we had to wait an hour or possibly might not get a table because it was busy. Few minutes later, another family of 6 came in (of another race). We heard them ask for a table with no reservation, and they were seated promptly. This restaurant seats you by the way you are dressed and the color of your face. If you are wearing a tuxedo and carry Gucci on your arm, you will be seated first. Never went back because no one wants to be treated that way.

Terrible… food was cold, everything was microwaved, bland, didn’t enjoy the drinks, please take my advise and don’t come here! This place used to be good. Now it’s bad. I paid full out of respect but I would never come here ever again. Chicken had a bad after taste and the flavor for all Manchurian dishes tasted the same. Bland and boring. We told the servers the food was cold, and all they did was microwave the food and bring it back. :( 🤢🤮🤮 food CAME OUT TO 268$!!!!! For food that was cold and all we had was appetizers we didn’t even order entrees. Please I beg you don’t come here! Ruined my night….

Worst food of my life tandoori roti wasn’t cooked proper it was raw. Then I got Chana masala it was soo much salted that we can’t eat it. I order two orders of Chana masala as u can see in the picture we didn’t even open the other box of Chana

I always eat at Nanking but I decided to order takeout and I was disappointed. The chicken tikka was bland and tasted old as were the chili chicken. The lamb biriyani was so salty and it looked like they gave us someone’s leftovers and seasoned it. The amount of money I spent for such little food is ridiculous. They definitely scam you if you order takeout.

Ordered Chicken Biriyani and paid $20 for one order . This stale stupid Chicken Biriyani is just Chicken Curry Mixed. No flavor at all and how do you still call this “Biriyani”?? Completely disappointed and not recommend this place at all.

Very high in salt, meat was not tender, cake very dry. Their food use to be better years ago. The quality has changed drastically.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. DO NOT, i repeat DO NOT go here. the chicken was RAW and the people there tried convincing me it was not. they “remade” the meal but we mixed it around there was a half cut piece of chicken that we had left in it. they did not remake anything, they threw in a few more pieces of chicken and called it a day!! horrible horrible. do not come here!!

Went to celebrate a wedding anniversary. Tasted the drinks that were paid for by my family and it seemed a bit off. Turns out that it wasn't what they actually paid for. Everything was mixed or watered-down, Grey goose and Johnny Black. A few people noticed and when asked we got the shoulder shrug. I asked for the manager, he came and said his name is Manish. He said that he doesn't know what we are talking about, he doesn't drink. I asked for a new bottle of Johnny Black,they brought it and we compared. We also compared their grey goose to what we were being served. I'm uploading pics of the Johnny Black because that's all we were given but we did taste the vodka and scotch vs the new bottles they brought to us and it was very different. I used to like this establishment but when you lie and con your customers I'd definitely not come back and would encourage everyone to make a better decision. I will never come back here!

Ordered Hakka noodles for take out and almost burnt our lips/mouth after eating it. They put so many red peppers, unimaginable. Next day we called them and informed about this situation and they offered us replacement order. We picked up replacement order and it turned out to be same level of spiciness. Not coming back here again!

Walk in to Nanking and was greeted by fruit flies and the restaurant smelled like incense. The menu was a book. We walked right out. Did not bother to stay or order food.

If I could give it zero stars, I would, we sat down there to eat. The restaurant was completely empty and we had seen a rat running around under the couches so beware there might be rat droppings by your feet the owners did not care he told me this is America and things take time how are you running an establishment w rats and r so calm about it and mind u Ntg was comped

The food here is bland and very off for an Indian restaurant. The tikka masala was a brown sauce unlike the traditional orange and had no spices or good flavor. We ordered the Nanking fried rice which was simply a takeout Chinese entree. Barely any flavor and mixed vegetables. The lobster wasn't seasoned properly and had a unusual sauce that didn't compliment any fish dish. Needless to say the service was not great since after 20 mins we were there a party of 30 came in.... that's where all the focus went. Spent 20 mins after eating waiting for dessert menu and waited over 30 mins for ice and extra water. First and last time. Dec 2025.

The food was okay we ordered some noodles and tandoori chicken with naan. As we are eating I see our waiter kicking at something and when I looked it was a mouse. He then chased it away towards the door near the bar. I’m never coming back here again no way.

I was charging my Tesla close to this spot and decided to try their famous three items on the menu; chicken hakka noodles, veg Manchurian and chicken fried rice. Not sure if the chef or whoever was a novice but they clearly didn't taste these three dishes. All three were so salty we took two bites and had to throw away the rest. Never again from Nanking. Tangra Masala or any other Indo-Chinese spot on Hillside is 10x better.

Food was expectedly good. Been here many times. The waiter TJ was exceptionally attentive and responsive. What spoilt the whole (otherwise) good experience was the (?) manager who was insufferably rude, patronizing and condescending, even though it was not his business. When we requested the left over food to be packed to take home, he very aggressively berated us. 'Don't confuse the guy' he says. We held our peace said nothing and sure enough they brought the food to us incorrectly bagged and packed. Fortunately, the waiter Tajinder (TJ) speedily came to our rescue and fixed everything. Dined here after a couple of years, not sure we will visit again. Thanks to the incredibly rude Manish...

We had a plan to dine in today but I decided to use the bathroom. I was disgusted to see that bathrooms were so messy. Floors were so filthy. Even in the dinning area one could easily smell the odor. The whole scene changed my perspective and I changed my mind. It was my favorite place to dine in but the smell and the dirty bathrooms disappointed me so much that I decided not to come to this place again.

Nanking Fried rice was previously cooked and microwaved. At least that’s what it tasted like. There is absolutely no way that something that came from a wok could have been so cold. And we were one the 6 patrons at lunch, so they were not busy. The empty restaurant at lunch should have been the dead giveaway.
