I recently had the pleasure of dining at ABA Restaurant in New York City, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The ambiance of the restaurant is warm and inviting, with a modern yet cozy decor that makes you feel right at home. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The menu at ABA is diverse and offers a fantastic selection of dishes that cater to all tastes. I started with the grilled octopus, which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. For the main course, I had the lamb chops, which were tender and flavorful, accompanied by a delicious side of roasted vegetables. The dessert menu did not disappoint either; the chocolate lava cake was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. Overall, ABA Restaurant exceeded my expectations in every way. The food was exceptional, the service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was perfect for both a casual dinner and a special occasion. I highly recommend giving ABA a try if you're in New York City!

Went for the first time (went a while ago and just wrote a review now, pardon for the lateness) and I loved the food. Ordered lamb shish kebab, Turkish tea and kunefe for sharing. The lamb was so good, tender and flavorful. The pickled onions and vegetables were good to my liking. They have a good spicy sauce and we asked for another bowl of it, it was not too spicy and a perfect dip for the kebab. Make sure to ask for the spicy sauce when you go there. I most loved was the kunefe. I am still craving for the kunefe.

This is a great restaurant. Good service, excellent food, and a friendly atmosphere. I would personally recommend the Lamb Adana Kebab. Portions are big too. When we were taking the rest of the food to go, the waitress added some extra bread for us to take. Seldom have I seen such thoughtfulness and care when serving a customer.

Desided to try Turkish restaurant for a change. I must say I was impressed. Food was delicious. Unfortunately restaurant don't have a bar. But I believe you can bring your own liquor. I just didn't feel like caring a bottle. At the end of the meal I had two different baclava - traditional and with pistachios. The flavor was a spot on. Nice crisp not to sweet not to dry or syrupy. It was just right amount of everything. Overall I had a good experience at ABA

ABA totally delivers a five star experience with our post-COVID dinner. Nice atmosphere, quiet background music, great service, excellent food choices, and very large portions. The service staff are excellent; they attended to our needs, yet gave us plenty time and space to be comfortable throughout dinner. If you want to experience excellent Turkish food a few blocks off of Columbus Circle, this is best spot. Five stars…

This is a hidden gem in the middle of city center!!! All of their foods are good, but their roasted chicken is my favorite. A bit pricey but it is a big portions too. It's better to go go with friends or a group, so you can share the food and try more menu.

Our family has never had Turkish food. We were really upfront up about it with our server. She made some fantastic suggestions. Bread Basket- I think everyeone had at least 2 slices of bread, dipping it in delicious olive oil, while one ate about 5 slices! The bread was crunchy and soft at the same time. Shepherd Salad- It was delicious. We got the large- it looked "small" but it ended up feeding 5 (one less than enthusiatic child) people as an appetizer pretty comfortably. So, probably 4 adults would be very happy with good sized portions to share this salad. We put the feta cheese on the side because one person in our group usually cannot have feta. Mucver- It was delicious. Definitely try this dish. The zucchini flower pancake combo was so lovely, The sauce that accompanied it was super refreshing. Doner Kebab- This was ordered because it was a safe choice for our family. We are more familiar with this- as it is similiar- but not the same as Gyro meat. The spices were on target and it was a fantastic dish. Lamb Adana Kebab- Honestly, our family is not used to eating lamb. HOWEVER, we "went outside our comfort zone" for this- and boy was it great. It was not to gamey for us. There were great spices in this dish, and everyone at the table went back for seconds. Stuffed Cabbage Leaves (Lahana Sarmasi)- It was not your usual "stuffed cabbage" filling. It was flavorful, the sauce was delightful, and nothing was left when we finished our meal. This is a "returnable" restaurant. Really. The meal was plenty for 5 people. Best part- tip was included in the meal, so there was no fussing or trying to figure that out. It was greatly appreciated.

Their breakfast specifically their breakfast platter is highly recommended. Cite design with turkish sense in design. cousins are large portion and we shared one combined kebab plate for 2 people. If you are not turkish and you are willing to experience new tasting it’s good to order “airan” as a drink it a yogurt sour taste that you can enjoy it with kabab. 2nd fun think is to get a Turkish coffee and try to read your fortune from you come.

M

Dolma (stuffed graped leaves), Manti, and Aba combo were all good! Chicken and lamb cop were so tender.

I'm still thinking about those flavors. The food hits the right notes, service feels natural, and quality ingredients speak for themselves. From the welcome to the goodbye, quality matters. Most significantly, staff members display sincere kindness. The workers create a welcoming environment.

We had Lamb Gyro and Cesar salad; the food was fresh and tasty. And feels Authentic. We were impressed by the service as the staff was knowledgeable and passionate. They also have special Turkish meals if anyone is interested and looking for some of the meals found in traditional Turkish restaurants.

We came across this gem after a long day exploring the city. We made a last minute reservation for six adults and five children and got excellent service despite our rather active children. We were especially happy to see a changing station in their restroom. Food was excellent...do try their mix grill!

Amazing food and environment. We ordered Isqander Kabab, Adna kabab for us and Fries for kids. Every thing is fresh and tasty same as you eat in Istanbul. Kunefa and turkish tea is amazing. Kunefa portion is for 4 so make sure you have room for it. At the end Turkish tea give us kick to go back in snow in Times Square😊. Plus service is great too.

Trying a new place: WOW! After we were seated, the first thing we noticed a lot of the customers seemed to be regulars - a good sign. The Turkish gyro meat is amazing - full of flavor! The sultan's delight was moist and fall apart tender. The wait staff directed us to the wine shop across the street as the restaurant is BYOB. Will definitely return next time we are in the neighborhood!

One of the best Turkish restaurants in NYC. The lamb doner was the best, in my opinion. They offer Halal food, and the bill for dine-in includes the service fee/tips by default.

N

Very good quality food that is fully halal. We spent a decent amount by getting sides and desert too but they have good price options for lunch and dinner if you get the combo deals. Their lamb is really well cooked.

Came to ABA to experience authentic Turkish food. They serve Manti, which is hard to find in any Turkish cuisine. It was delicious, beyond my expectations. It felt like I was back in Turkey having a meal with family. Lamb Shank was also amazing. Next trip to NYC will definitely include another stop at ABA.

I absolutely love this restaurant and their lunch special. It is such a great deal and the food is always delicious. I personally love the chicken adana kebab, the meat is very tender and moist. My husband and I went here after seeing the broadway show, Six. The server was excellent!! We sat out outside (there are heaters!), and asked what the server recommended.. he gave us great options and we tried the fried rolls as a hot appetizer and the combination kabob platter! Some of the tastiest kabobs we have ever had! We enjoyed Turkish wine as well. The restaurant was so authentic my husband got nervous after he ate the raw tomato and lettuce (those that travel overseas know why).Overall, I highly recommend!

Amazing! We were so excited to find this wonderful Turkish restaurant on our first night in NYC! Having been overseas in Turkey, we always look for places that have authentic Turkish food wherever we visit a major metropolitan city. The staff was so friendly and attentive. It was good to speak a few words in Turkish with them and they were so kind to not make fun of words we couldn’t remember how to say certain things.

I struggle with my desire to hoard this gem versus promote it. Employees make customers feel welcome through kindness. Our family keeps returning to this place. I consider this food exceptional. I'm fully committed to this spot.

A

You can find a great variety of mouth watering dishes in Turkish cuisine, which is mostly the heritage of Ottoman cuisine. It is the mixture and refinement of Central Asian, Middle Eastern and Balkan cuisines. Therefore it is impossible to fit Turkish cuisine into a short list.

Great atmosphere, great food, service excellent. We has a little get together with our staff there, great choice. The salads so good and not to forget the bread. Who can eat after that. However we has our main courses of lamb, chicken and fish. I will visit again.

A great place for Turkish cuisine! The service was great and wasn't too busy. It was a Sunday early afternoon. Starting with the falafel is always a great choice. Each bite was flavorful and crispy. A fantastic start to the meal! The lamb kebab with Turkish spices is a great dish. The meat was well seasoned, tender, and rich. The rice was okay - for me it was a little bland. Would recommend!

Talk about don’t judge a book by its cover. I probably wouldn’t have picked this place to eat based on its rating but I’m so glad I did because it was amazing! Service was a bit spotty at first but the food came out pretty quickly once we placed our order. Started off with the bread which was fresh and warm. Sort of the inside and perfect crunchy on the outside. Had it with the olive oil but you should definitely ask to have it with the red sauce or the Tzatziki sauce! Ordered the chicken chop and man it’s some of the most flavorful chicken I’ve had. The chicken was soft and well seasoned and paired really nicely with the red cabbage which I surprisingly enjoyed. Again either the red spicy sauce or the Tzatziki sauce can add extra flavor and take your meal up a notch. You also can’t beat the value you get with this meal with three pieces of chicken thighs. Tried some of their falafel and chicken Adana and they were really good as well. Had the Backlava for desert and it was delectably sweet, flaky, and delicious! Had it with the Turkish tea which is absolutely a must try! Overall I left feeling full and content. Would eat here again!

Came here on a week night, was somewhat busy but we didn’t have to make a reservation. We started with the rice and beef stuffed grape leaves calamari which was delicious and cooked till crispy with some turkish sauce . Most of us opted for the yogurt chicken or lamb dish which was super flavorful and large in portion. I recommend ordering that at least one for the table if not all! We had some baklava and the butternut squash dessert drizzled in nuts and tahini, a must try!

I always love Mediterranean cuisine and especially Turkish. The food is authentic and flavorful. Good quantity and fair priced. The interior is not super outstanding but classic and good enough. I love the free warm bread they give before the meal. The olive oil sprinkled with orégano is the best simple bread dip. The Shepard salad is also my favorite, fresh and well-balanced flavored with vintage. The Adana chicken is also full with middle eastern spice, well marinated. The service is quick too. Overall, a casual place for good Turkish food.

I’m really glad to have Aba Turkish Restaurant in the neighborhood. It’s one of those places I always enjoy coming back to. I walked in on a Monday night around 7 and was happy to get a table, but I know this place can get busy, so a reservation might be a good idea on other days. The lebni is creamy and rich, the falafel is perfectly crispy, and the tabbouleh is light and refreshing with parsley, tomato, bulgur, lemon, and olive oil. I love dipping their bread into both or pairing them with the falafel. The bread is soft and fresh, though I do wish it was served a little warmer. The Aba Combo is great when I can’t decide what to get since it includes a variety of meats with sides. If you like a little spice, ask for their hot sauce. It’s not on the menu, and the heat is very light, but it adds a nice flavor. The staff is always kind and attentive, and the food feels comforting yet healthy. Their Turkish breakfast menu is also worth checking out. Definitely one of my favorite local spots.

We happen to be in the area and came across this restaurant, I knew you could never go wrong with Turkish food, they would always have my cravings satisfied regarding chicken kebab, having to be born and raised in an Arab country. As always, I know Turkish food would always taste the best, and this restaurant is giviiiiiiiiiiiiing that vibes! A definitely a must to try and in a good neighborhood if it gets crowded while waiting for your reservation. Servers were really nice and they had given us complimentary Baklava. Also we did try the Dinner Special. That roasted eggplant with tomato is a killer! That didn’t stand a chance with the free bread they offered! The tea with Baklava too shouldn’t be missed! Will definitely come back 😍

The food was absolutely delicious! The kebabs, chicken, and sides were all fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. It’s really hard to find a place that represents Turkish cuisine this well. We enjoyed everything we ordered. Just a small note: they forgot to include forks and spoons in the order. Other than that, everything was perfect. Still highly recommended and we’ll definitely order again! 👌🇹🇷

Aba is hands down one of the best Turkish restaurants in NYC. Their free BYOB policy is such a rare gem in the city and makes dining here even more enjoyable. We started with the cold appetizer plate, which was fresh, flavorful, and perfect for sharing. The grilled meats are the star of the menu especially the lamb adana kebab, which was juicy, tender, and perfectly seasoned. The shepherd salad was crisp and refreshing, a great balance to the rich flavors of the grill. And to finish, the baklava was absolutely delicious flaky, nutty, and just the right amount of sweet. The service is warm, the atmosphere is welcoming, and every dish feels made with care. With the combination of incredible food and the BYOB perk, Aba is a true hidden gem I’ll be coming back to again and again.

Authentic Turkish restaurant perfectly located. Prices were decent $22 for the Iskender meal. You can easily share this meal, which we did. We also ordered a hummus bth it wasn’t wow. The tea is perfect and the service was over the top. We also ordered a Kunafa dessert. Only reason they are getting 4 starts is because of thesmall kunafa. It was $10 and was so small it was not with to get it. Overall would definitely go back next time I’m in NYC

Lentil soup was excellent. Okra appetizer were really good as well. But the main dishes were under whealming. Chicken was a bit dry and lacked flavor.

I came here for a friend's birthday and the servers did a great job of helping us celebrate, which was really nice! The Doner Kebab "Turkish Gyro" was a little bit dry, but the baklava was delicious and it was a good experience overall.

Falafel, Hummus and Turkish Tea and Turkish Coffee were good-4/5. A friend had Alinazik and liked the chicken but the eggplant part was ok. Waitress was ok

Not bad at all!! I was extra careful to detect some mistakes but except for very minor things (e.g., they overcooked icli kofte), it was good.

Get the lamb over yogurt dish, the spinach pies (eat while warm!!!), and the lentil soup! The bread is complimentary!

I did a quick search for Turkish restaurants near Rockefeller Plaza. I found a few dozen most of which were just a step above street vendors. I chose ABA Turkish Restaurant because they appeared to be serving authentic Turkish chef prepared cuisine. I was not disappointed. The very first thing I noticed was there were a lot of Turkish people eating there. That’s always a good sign to me that it’s not a tourists trap. The food was great and served quickly. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The restrooms are typical NYC cramped closets. It’s a two minute walk from Broadway and about 10 minute walk from Rockefeller Plaza.

Great Turkish great restaurant. If you like liver definitely try as well as lamb shank. Overall everything is great. You can all so bring your alcohol. Servers are extremely friendly.

Would recommend sharing ADA Combo Plate and cold appetizer platter if there are 2-3 of you. Sigare Borek was very good. We also ordered rice pudding with tea. Would give 5 stars, but service wasn’t the best. We waited quite a bit for our food and our waiter wasn’t really welcoming/friendly.

The boss bought lunch today. Typically, I don’t eat lunch because lunch causes the Itus and I need to be productive. But it was Friday. YOLO, Ringo. YOLO. Everything was good to really good. See pics. Nothing was spectacular or destination worthy, but I must say the calves liver app was surprisingly delicious. Ditto all the sauces. Would I say the same if I dined in instead of delivery ? The Turkish pro basketball player who played for the Knicks recommended this spot. I don’t know him personally, I just watch a lot of YT food recommendations. Yes, I’m a loser. Is it better than my go to Turkish take out spot at substantially lower cost? Yes, but if I was spending my own $$$, I’d probably walk over to that one because I’m poor. But if the boss is paying- this is a nice option, Karen.

Great place. I reserved a seating for two but didn’t need to since i went during the weekday. Food was great and great portions. **Price is a bit up there** Service was good. I actually loved the green salad. Cool ambiance.

The food is great! The meat is very tender and literally melts in your mouth. I rarely enjoy Doner, but loved theirs. Both the chicken and lamb Adana kebabs were amazing! I really enjoyed the lamb chops. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating. I would say it’s on the pricier side for the portion.

Aba Turkish Restaurant delivers on quality with its fantastic bread, Adana kebab, and doner kebab—all bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. The cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and lack of crowds make it a pleasant spot for a relaxed meal. However, the lunch special versus main course situation left something to be desired. Despite ordering the pricier main course to get a larger portion, the serving size was identical to my wife’s lunch special, which also included an appetizer and drink—definitely a letdown. Still, if portion size isn’t your priority, the food and experience are worth trying.

This place can be a good start if you want to try Turkish food. It is not great but gives you the idea. Nothing extraordinary. It refreshed our memories of Istanbul. I felt offended and found it dishonest when they included gratitude as part of the bill and again add an option for the tip.

It was decent medioce Turkish food. We started with the dolma and that was very good. For entree we ordered the had the combo platter and it was decent. The Iskander kebab was a large sloppy dish and the flavors were lacking. Otherwise the service and ambiance was good but nothing really memorable about this place. We prefer the food at Ali Baba's much better.

H

I ordered the Turkish meatballs which were cooked well done without the waiter having asked how I wanted them cooked. In places that serve hamburgers, they will ask how I want the burger cooked, here the waiter did not. The meatballs needed a knife to cut them. Elsewhere I often only need a fork to cut meatballs.

There is nothing special in that Turkish restaurant. The service is very pleasant but the food is much less. The salads at the were tasteless, and the meats were overcooked. With the Iskander, which is the Turkish flagship dish, the sauce was very dominant; it was pity that we could not be impressed by the doner tast. There are much better Turkish restaurants in Manhattan.

We went as a family to a Turkish restaurant that was doing good business in the middle of the city. The portions are really small compared to other Turkish restaurants and NOT like the others. The service is already bad, they have literally cut down on the materials.I have never seen such a cheap Turkish restaurant in the heart of New York City before. Neither I nor my family will ever go there again. Also, I felt sick after the meal. It really bothered me. The rice they put with the kebab was mushy and cold.My family and I will never go again I will tell the people around us because for that price there are much better, better quality, clean Turkish restaurants to go to.EVER NEVER AGAIN

A
Abdul “M” Zahangir

The worst Turkish restaurant ever, I have spent $109 for only 3 items here money is not the issue the meat and the salmon was tooo dry and was stinking so bad that I had to throw it away. Their bread and calf liver was dried out as well. In addition I’m having a bed stomach because of this crap food. I have spent thousands on Turkish restaurants but this one omg the worst restaurant in my entire life. I should sue them because of food poisoning m having now.

m
muhammet ulutaş

I had a very unpleasant experience here. The service felt discriminatory — the waiter greeted white customers with smiles and friendliness, but spoke to us in a cold and rushed manner, asking things like “What do you want?” and “Are you done eating?” The food was underwhelming. I ordered the lamb Adana, which was tough and difficult to chew. The rice was clearly not fresh — it tasted like it was made the day before. The rice pudding was decent, but nothing special. To top it off, they refused to serve Turkish tea 40 minutes before closing, even though other tables were still drinking theirs — which made no sense. Also, be aware: they add a 20% tip to the bill automatically, without informing you. Definitely not worth the price or the treatment we received.
