Opinions de Bao Bao Cafe New York
Ordered to go- the portions were very generous, especially for the reasonable price. The popcorn chicken was crispy and nicely flavored with salt and pepper. The pork belly had a nice flavor as well but could be more tender. The beef was very delicious- great flavor and thinly cut so it wasn’t tough at all. With the vegetables, rice, and tea eggs, we had a wonderful meal!
The rice bowls here are simply amazing. The rice is perfectly cooked—soft, fluffy, and just the right texture. It serves as the perfect base for the delicious toppings. I tried their signature beef over rice, and it was heavenly. The beef is tender and cooked to perfection, with a rich, savory sauce that just melts in your mouth. The vegetables are fresh and add a nice crunch to the dish.
Such a cozy little noodle spot with amazing customer service. The staff was so friendly and welcoming, and the food was delicious. Definitely a go-to comfort spot!
There a whole restaurant in the back- you wouldn’t know looking in… The atmosphere is amazing. The woman taking orders: leafy is so adorable and amazing. She was so caring to accommodate my friend and I who he has allergies and I am a life long vegetarian. I’m definitely coming back and bringing my girlfriend. I she’s Asian and I call her my bao bao. Now I get to bring my bao bao to bao bao cafe. Pleasant musing and amazing food. You can request a spice level too. I love spicy but boy their spicy levels are just off the charts. Which is why I orders a mild ramen dish. I can’t get over how nice they were in here. And how authentic the food is. Will be back .. 5 stars
The guy at the front desk was super nice, and the popcorn chicken was delicious. If you like spicy food, make sure to ask for extra chili powder! 🌶️
Had the Signature BaoBao noodles on a cold wintry afternoon.. Really really nice. Mine was spicy. U can adjust the level of spiciness when U order. Will come back again.
One of my favorite spots to eat at in the city. The portion of the food is very filling at an amazing price. Great place to bring friends and chat. I had the Bao Bao noodles and left satisfied.
My favorite item on the menu is the Seafood Ramen. The portion size is great and the meal is tasty and delicious. You can pick your spice level and add extra potions of protein (for a small fee). The service is friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this spot for lunch!
Bam Bam noodle is signature dish. It was so good and I ordered a bit spicy also perfect taste. Recommend! Popcorn chicken is also tasty 😍They also have Pork minced noodle Soup I would try next time 🤩 Price also reasonable.
Feels like an authentic chinese place around downtown NYC. For the noodles you can select the spiciness level, I chose medium (lowest is mild). Noodle texture is al dente for a chinese noodle and I liked my spiciness level. They also offer complimentary chicken nuggets if you add a review. Of course we’d do a review for free food lol!
The Chinese seafood ramen was amazing! Rich, flavorful broth with fresh shrimp and squid. Perfect noodles and great portion size. Highly recommend!
Bao Bao is conveniently located in the Financial District and easily accessible in the neighborhood. Their dishes mainly focus on noodles and they also have light appetizers. We got the popcorn chicken, baby octopus, and tea eggs and they were all made quickly. The breading was crispy and flavorful - we definitely would get them again. They have the option of being spicy or regular. The tea egg was steamed perfectly! The mini octopus sauce was delicious and it was over a bed of seaweed. That was my favorite!
Clean place and there is photo of the menu food before ordering. Quick and fast serving. Tried the beef as recommended and it is tender.
It was my first time Bao Bao Cafe. They offer plenty of choices of noodle and rice dishes. I highly recommend if you eat alone or need something very quick and delicious.
Great food, music and friendly service. The noodles were really good and dipping buns were amazing!
Absolutely loved this place. The food was incredible — fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The atmosphere felt welcoming and comfortable from the moment I walked in. The gentleman at the register had such a genuinely positive aura — warm, friendly, and uplifting — the kind of energy that makes a business thrive. Even the music selection was on point and added to the whole experience. Can’t wait to come back.
We tried the seafood ramen and the beef noodle soup, and both were excellent. The seafood ramen had a rich, flavorful broth with generous portions of seafood, and everything tasted fresh and well-balanced. The beef noodle soup was incredibly comforting — tender beef, perfectly cooked noodles, and a deep, savory broth that felt homemade. The portions are generous for the price, especially for NYC. Service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere is casual and cozy — great spot for a relaxed meal. Definitely a place I’d come back to when craving warm, comforting food.
I tried the popcorn chicken with rice, broccoli, and an egg and it was honestly a really solid meal. The popcorn chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy inside, with good seasoning that made it really flavorful. The rice paired well with everything and wasn’t dry, and the broccoli tasted fresh and balanced out the dish nicely. The egg on top brought everything together and made it feel like a full, satisfying meal. The portion size was good and it felt like great value for the price. Overall a simple but really well-made dish. I’d definitely come back and order it again.
Let me just say this…..This is the best restaurant I went to that serves beef noodle soup❤️🥡🥢The only one I knew growing up was the one in the cup from the supermarket🤷🏽♀️ Today was my first time here at this restaurant and it was amazing. I literally took my time eating this because I didn’t want it to finish so soon lols. I highly recommend this restaurant. Bring your friends, aunty, uncle, dad and everyone here. You will not be disappointed❤️🤗 ⭐️5 Stars -I made a pick up reservation just to save time if it was crowded which was way easier, but you can also walk in.
The restaurant had a welcoming atmosphere from beginning to the end. The food tasted Authentic and fresh and was also affordable and filling. We all ordered soups which we forgot to take a photo of. We enjoyed our time here, money well spent! The lady at the reception made our experience even better because of her warm and inviting demeanor as well as her hospitality. Thank you for this experience!
Its hard to find a good food place in this area, let alone good sezchuan flavor, for a good price. We went on a weekend afternoon and there was no line, plenty of seating and a nice menu selection. The staff was friendly and this is definitely a place I'll be coming back to when in the area. For two people with 2qty of the bao bun appetizer, 2 ramens, and drinks it was ~$30 cant beat that!
Got the wrong soup… The only thing correct was the spicy oil on the side :/ edit: I picked up and then went immediately home. Not easy to come back. Could my payment possibly be adjusted to reflect what I actually received? To at least make it fair UPDATE: thanks for the response and willingness to make things right :) I look forward to visiting again when I am in the area. thank you!
Bao Bao Café is such a gem! The noodles are cooked perfectly — springy, flavorful, and comforting. The beef is absolutely fantastic — tender, juicy, and seasoned just right. Every bite feels fresh and satisfying. The portions are generous, the flavors authentic, and the atmosphere is cozy. Definitely a spot I’ll keep coming back to whenever I’m craving noodles and hearty dishes. Highly recommend!
Absolutely loved our meal here! We had the Veggie Ramen with Pork Broth (we also added Pork Meat extra), Beef Ramen, and Bam Bam Noodles — all of them were absolutely amazing. The flavours were rich and perfectly balanced. The person who served us was wonderful — she noticed we had two small kids and kindly helped us choose the right dishes. Great food and great service!

Good portions and flavor! It's in time square kind of tucked away. Very fast service too! I was craving popcorn chicken and this hit the spot
Amazing aura. Good food. And they offer amazing customer service. It smells so good once you walk into the space!
Love their food and amazing prices! I got the beef noodle soup and pork belly rice. Both are delicious and you could not beat this price.
Love the noodles and the man behind the counter was nice. The location was good, the place has about 6 customers on Monday after work. The wheat noodles was tendon and hot sauce was great. Would …
Loved it!! We ordered Popcorn chicken with rice, bao and pork dumpling soup. Everything was delicious. Can't wait to try more dishes of the menu.
Food is good satisfies my dormant cravings, service is good although the cashier should speak louder, bathroom IS SO clean OMG. Also how Yall even manage to listen to the same exact songs EVERY SIN…
We tried a couple of the lunch specials at the café - popcorn chicken bento and pork belly bento. For the popcorn chicken bento, there's an option to add a bubble milk tea from the shop next door for an extra $3, which is a nice deal. The rice was cooked well with a pleasant texture. The popcorn chicken had good flavour, though the texture was a bit on the harder side. The pork belly was tasty with a nice texture, though we would’ve liked a bit more seasoning for a stronger flavour. Both bentos came with some sides like veg and chips, making them great value for money with generous portions.
We passed by on a chilly day looking for a hot soup and the beef broth delivered that filling taste. The order was handled reasonably fast. The vegetables and ramen were decently filling. The noodles were all on the bottom in a plate format. There was a 20% surcharge added that when I asked the staff couldn't tell me what it was either.
Loved the atmosphere and the central location. The food was just okay - the bam bam noodles were bland, the popcorn chicken (free, if you review) was okay. I really liked the spring rolls - they were truly the hit for me. Place your order and pay at the counter and then get served at the table.
Beautiful restaurant right off the main street near Times Square, with a huge space. The Ambience is really clean, neat and cutely decorated. I'm writing this review in the restaurant, as I was asked to put my review in before I left, as I recieved a FREE Popcorn Chicken. Here is my opinion on the dishes I tried today, rated from Top choices to lowest 1)The Spring Rolls are amazing, beautifully executed, with a delicious wrapper, evey unique 2)The Bao (2pcs) The Pork belly in here is soft and tender, in soft and pillowy baos, wish there was more sauce inside 3)The Fried Squid was well cooked, tender and crispy at the same time. Some pieces were stuck together, so it was clumsy and soggy, and quite greasy. Yet still delicious 4)The Popcorn chicken was nothing special, wish it had some fried basil like the usual Taiwanese restaurants 5)The Bam Bam Noodles with Pork, and I added Mushrooms, didn't have much flavor, the sesame oil is over powering, and there was not enough salt. Also they have a sign that says they accept Ca$hApp, but then it didn't work, so I had to change my method of payment. Maybe asking for a review backfired, as the waitress persisted for a review, even coming to the table with food in her mouth, mastercating as she asked to leave a review once again.

This spot has great ambiance! The service was really good. The chicken skewers were very tasty!
It is a clean place. And the food taste above average and price are below the average in the area.
Small convenient grab and go kind of spot. I had the popcorn chicken combo and additional eggs. It was ok but bit too salty for me with eggs being very plain. Not a bad place, but probably won't try again.

Not recommended. I ordered a non-spicy beef noodle soup, but it still arrived with red oil and a hint of spice. Good thing I’m not allergic to chili—otherwise lunch might’ve come with a trip to the ER. The noodles were very thin and soft, with no chew at all. Honestly, even basic ramen has more bounce. The broth looked dark and full of promise, but the flavor never showed up. The beef slices looked thick, but tasted like…nothing. Let’s just say it was beef without a soul. The cabbage was no help either—completely bland, floating there with a quiet sense of despair. At $12, the portion was also on the small side. For many people, one bowl of noodle soup probably wouldn’t be enough to feel satisfied. Sure, $12 for beef noodle soup near Times Square sounds like a deal. But to me, a low price doesn’t excuse poor quality. The food did come out quickly, and being self-service means no tipping worries. Also worth mentioning: many of the “good reviews” are false—they hand out free popcorn chicken if you leave a positive review.
