Opinions de Barking Dog New York
Do not come here if you don’t want to pet dogs!!! I’ve never been to such a dog friendly restaurant. We randomly came here for brunch while visiting NYC with our little dog. They have pseudo-indoor seating with some small heat lamps so you can your furry friend can dine in moderate comfort, even during the cold NYC winter. I had the croque madame (eggs on the side) and my friend had the Rottweiler burger plus we shared the french onion soup because it was cold. Both were good though the burger was better than the sandwich. I love the dog menu they have so you can order something for your pet and they gave our dog a bowl of fresh water. The drinks were nice as well, we had an aperol spritz and the Pawsome which was excellent. I will say that some customers do not do a good job of handling their dogs and let them jump up on others while they eat. It was pretty empty the day we went so maybe when it’s busier management is more strict about dog behavior. But truly that didn’t bother me and I love the concept of this restaurant. I’d love to come back with dog when it’s warmer!
Service was absolutely great! It was very inviting! And the food was great! We took photos for reference! We will definitely be coming back!
From the start we felt welcome, we had brunch here before our flight. We had our luggage’s.. we were welcomed in right away with all our belongings… The food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere is a 10/10 highly recommended this place!!
Dennis was so amazing! He was very kind and attentive The entire time that we were there for our friends birthday party! we did the first course of quinoa salad, waffles, and fresh fruit family style and then we each got our individual main courses. The chicken sandwich was delicious and all the dogs had a great time!
Absolutely wonderful experience! My friend and I got dinner here right after we watched Heather’s. Chris was great! We got the NY strip steak, fries, asparagus, and 5 cheese macaroni. AMAZING!
10/10 experience here! Shoutout to Esteban! He provided wonderful hospitality and service! The food and drinks were amazing. The whole staff was amazing!! The music and vibes were perfect. Ladies get half off signature cocktails on Thursdays!! Would totally recommend for anyone in the area esp before a broadway show. I did the theatre menu and the steak and chimichurri - chefs kiss!
Had a wonderful brunch here. Pedro gives it 2 paws up! I had a delicious barking dog special which includes eggs, meat of your choice, fruit cup, homefries and a delish biscuit. And they had a cute doggie menu-Pedro enjoyed a hamburger bowl with rice and veggies and whipped cream w blueberry for dessert. He had the best time. Our server asked his name when we arrived and referred to him by name the whole time. Truly a lovely brunch with my pupper thanks to Barking Dog making a casual brunch so special. Can’t wait to go back in the warmer weather for their patio when it’s not covered.
As a professional reviewer, I encounter countless establishments, but few manage to combine high-end hospitality with genuine human connection as seamlessly as The Barking Dog. The Atmosphere & Service: From the moment you walk in, the "Barking Dog" theme creates a warm, inviting environment that feels both sophisticated and incredibly homey. I came in during a very difficult personal moment—having just lost my dog of 17 years, Nanna. The level of empathy I received from the staff was unparalleled. The bartender didn’t just serve a drink; he recognized a neighbor in pain and offered a gesture of kindness that reminded me why I love this city. That kind of emotional intelligence is rare in a high-traffic area like this. The Experience (Yappy Hour): Their "Yappy Hour" is a brilliant concept. They offer half-priced drinks that are expertly crafted, but it’s more than just a deal—it’s a community hub. It’s the perfect spot to decompress, whether you have a pup with you or are just looking for a welcoming seat at the bar. The Food: Five stars across the board. The menu offers elevated comfort food that is consistent and delicious. Whether you are looking for a world-class burger and fries or something more substantial, the kitchen delivers with precision and flavor. The Verdict: If you want a place that treats you like a human being rather than just another transaction, this is it. Professional service, five-star food, and a heart of gold. I cannot recommend them highly enough. Also Mr. Whiskers is a staple of the bar you may catch a sighting of him.
I have to say that I was impressed. The atmosphere is great in regard to being able to have your fur babies with you while you dine. The service that was rendered to me by Esteban was awesome. He was very attentive and friendly. I will be visiting again especially for some great guacamole and chips.. Drinks are also tasty 😉
Awesome place to chill out with friends, bring your dog, and enjoy good food and drinks. The staff is absolutely amazing: very courteous, diligent, and super welcomed our dog! The service is fast, not only not having to wait much for food/drinks, but them always staying on top to remind you of the different menu schedules when needed, this way you do not miss happy or yappy hour, brunch, etc. The drinks are spiked and yum! Will certainly be coming back soon!
I absolutely LOVE this place. Since I’m only in NYC for two months out of the year (July and August) it’s important that I make every single moment —-every meal, every sunny summer afternoon and even the overcast muggy heat wave afternoon— count. So it’s important to have a space where people are warm and friendly and the vegetarian options are available. Since breakfast is my favorite meal and I’m health conscious, I’m incredibly picky about where I go. So Barking Dog is my go-to. It’s in a courtyard with trees and a fountain with Manhattans iconic skyscrapers around the edges. Best to make reservations on busy holiday weekends but if you plan ahead they will try and find you a table. It’s also in the heart of the theater district Brunch before a matinee or late night cocktails after a play or musical. Did I mention it’s in the heart of New York’s theatre district and has an outdoor wrap around patio as well as an indoor bar and restaurant with walls of windows? Barking Dog is a Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan theater district gem!!
I cannot hype this place up enough. Delicious food, superb customer service with grisly staff and dog friendly. They treated my dog and me so well. Brought him a. Bowl of water, his meal and dessert. Food and drinks were delicious. I had the artichoke dip with chips, warm and flavorful. I had the beet and asparagus salad. Molten lava cake a la mode for dessert. I highly recommend for anyone with a dog to visit. Unforgettable experience for my pup and me. If you don’t have a dog, I still highly recommend it as the customer services is fabulous and the food is so tasty.
We didn’t have a reservation for lunch but Chris helped us out and placed us at a nice table outside by the fountain. They brought water for our dog immediately and gave her several treats. Both the chicken wrap and the friend burger were delicious. I’m surprise of how inexpensive it is for that it’s at a prime location. We got the grilled chicken meal and the whipped cream from the pup menu for our pup but she didn’t eat any of it because she was tired and a bit anxious but mostly she is very picky. We had the signature cocktails, and they were good, only suggestion is to put them in nicer looking cocktail glass. Highly recommend this place for any dog owners.
Our waiter Dennis is great! We got a pitcher of a bloody Mary and it was delicious! I asked for extra olives and lemons, and they accommodated us! I would’ve placed a lot of pictures of the dishes, but we were so hungry. We devoured it and it was so delicious. My friend had the frittata in a frying pan and I also got the avocado toast with salmon With poached eggs on top. Delicious! Dog friendly, great atmosphere I would recommend getting a reservation!
We were in New York City for a long weekend and stopped by the Barking Dog for brunch on our last day. We are very pleasantly surprised to not have to wait too long to sit at one of their tables in the outdoor extension that was covered in glass. There weren’t heaters, but there was plenty of ambient heat from inside so that the temperature was not an issue. Our server was very friendly and efficient. They have a good drink selection and their brunch menu was fantastic. We got one of their omelettes, eggs Benedict, and their French toast and all of it was fantastic. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anybody that is in the area and wants a casual place to get some good food!

Lovely restaurant near the theatres. We came for dinner tonight and thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere in the courtyard. Apparently this is THE place to go with your dog for breakfast,…
Nice people, lovely margaritas and we had really great burgers but also great european style food, finally!!!, like shepherds pie. Highly recommended!!
Lovely atmosphere. The owner recognised us from a previous visit when we had a drink. We wanted to come back to have a meal and we were not disappointed. Great food and very friendly staff.
Excellent food. Great service. A lovely environment. Great choice before a Broadway show. Make sure you hit happy hour!
A great new addition in Hell’s Kitchen with tasty food, a good selection of wines and a great outdoor space. Big portions and reasonably priced. Of course they're dog friendly too
Great pre theater spot in the heart of theater district. We had the wings, calamari and cob salad for starters. Al made to perfection. The highlight though was the short rib burger and the lamb…
We had such a nice time celebrating my puppy’s birthday here. Overall, everything was great and it was a really fun experience. The only downside was that my sister’s food came out cold, and even after she asked for it to be warmed up, it was returned the same way. Aside from that, I truly enjoyed my meal, my dog loved his, and it’s such a great spot to bring your pup, especially during the summertime.
Really liked it here for breakfast (9am) during winter! Ambient: I really enjoy places that are not too loud, so here is perfect if you want a calm time to enjoy food and mindfullness. Music is really nice as well, booths comfy, warm inside. Food: really tastefull, full plate (wished my stomach had enough space for it all), presentable; although the yolk on the benedict eggs I ordered were a little hard, it was good on the flavor side. BTW, coffee was very very nice as well. Service: AMAZING. Everyone has a smile on, some speak Spanish in case you need to, always checking on you if you need something, plus they were kind enough to compensate me for the benedict hard egg 🙏 Would def come back and recommend it for a basic, calming, tastefull, enjoyable breakfast time.
Came across this bar/restaurant on our first night in NYC. Great staff, friendly and helpful and AMAZING burgers! Don’t go if you’re not dog friendly. We loved it. Thank you!

Fun place that allows dogs. We tried to make a reservation online, but could not. Called and the phone greeting stated they were too busy to answer. We walked over and there was one table occupied and one man at the bar. Workers stood chatting with the man at the bar. Service was pleasant but not very attentive. Food was good. The lemon chicken soup is excellent.
We stopped in on Sunday for brunch and were seated w/o reservations although they take them. Small quaint place. Good service. Couple next to us had her dog inside w/ her. Unfortunately food was av…
