My husband and I went to GUI, because we wanted to try a new steakhouse. Everything was great, but especially our server, Tshepo, checked ALL the boxes and was nothing but amazing: he ✅ was very helpful with recommendations ✅ checked our glasses regularly ✅ was very kind and friendly and ✅ helped us to spend an amazing date night (which we, as toddler twin parents who don’t get to do that very often) appreciated very much) Besides that the atmosphere is very classy and perfect for any special occasion. You also can celebrate your birthday there, since there is ample of space and large tables to be seated. The USDA (🤩) prime rib was our favorite and I would order this again any day!

Prime rib (kings cut) was super amazing. May be even better than SF house of prime rib. This place is in the same tier as Cote. Other apps and sides were amazing also like cream corn, tuna tartare, brioche buns, and crab cake.

We had the best waiter. I think his name was Seppo, but I’m pretty sure I’m spelling it wrong. He went above & beyond! We only had a little over an hour to eat because of our play & they accommodated us. Everything was great. The cocktails & winelist are amazing

Gui steakhouse offers great options for fine dining. The staff were really nice and accommodating. The food tastes amazing and exquisitely presented. Price is reasonable and easy to book for reservations.

Wonderful experience! The food, drinks, and service were spectacular. Some favorites include the oyster with uni, grilled octopus, and kimchi fried rice. I loved the wagyu. All of the servers were so knowledgeable about the menu, had great suggestions, and were very attentive. The ambiance is lovely. Get a reservation while you still can!

Incredible fusion steakhouse. Great chops with a blend of unique starters, homemade bread, and tasty desserts! Would definitely recommend it!

We are staying just down the street and have come here every afternoon to take advantage of the happy hour at the downstairs Bar 92. Cool decor, amazing bar setup, and I will never forget these oysters - so fresh and $1 each for happy hour? Get out of here! Bar staff every day have been both fantastic at what they do and enjoyable to talk to. Carlun was a real gem! We never made it to the upstairs steakhouse, but we didn’t miss a thing. Highly recommend!

Prime rib was outstanding, every dish we tried impressed and didn’t disappoint. The cocktails were amazing, good atmosphere, and the service was great.

We dinned in Gui back in April 25. It is a must go stakehouse and restaurant with beautiful spaces and atmosphere and comfortable seating. **The temperature in the spaces keeping low so you can eat happily WITHOUT sweltering and suffering from heat, that is amazing benefit for GUI. Nothing more to say, anything you pick from the menu is an art and delicious quality food. Professional and friendly experienced service too. Soon be there again.

It’s rare to find a place where the cocktails feel like an art form. If you appreciate true mixology and a refined atmosphere, this spot is a must-visit. I will definitely be coming back. The music 🎶 💯. Gustavo Highly recommended! 🍸✨

Glad I got to try this restaurant for restaurant week! It’s a gorgeous restaurant and the service is excellent. I have no complaints. Really enjoyed the caesar salad appetizer. Great wine selection and I loved the bread. Highly recommend

I honestly didn’t expect much, thinking most steakhouses would be more or less the same—but I was completely blown away. The moment I walked in, I was surprised by the luxurious atmosphere—it instantly set a different tone. The harmony between Korean flavors and the rich, savory taste of steak was something I never imagined, yet it worked beautifully. I heard the restaurant is led by Michelin-starred chef Mr. Shim, and it truly exceeded all expectations. The appetizers—both Korean and Western—were beautifully prepared and made the steak even more enjoyable. We ordered the Porterhouse and Filet Mignon, and both were incredibly flavorful, tender, and cooked to perfection. It’s the kind of taste you immediately crave again. It was an unforgettable dining experience, and I’ll definitely be back.

Food is amazing. Probably the best steak house in New York. You can tell the ingredients are quality and have been made with alot of care and details. The Wagyu Sando is one of the best single bites l've ever had. The prime rib is cooked to perfection. They have great wine selection and the cocktails I tried were all really good. Service is fast and attentive. The ambiance is intimate even though the space is actually really spacious. I will definitely recommend my friends and family to come here

This meal was amazing from start to finish. Not a single bad bite. Service was impeccable from the moment you walk in the door. The prime rib was amongst the best I've ever had and probably top 2 in the city. My only complaint was that it's a smaller cut, only 10 oz. But still decadent and incredible. The au jus had almost an onion soup flavor to it which was perfect. Wagyu fried rice was amazing, as was the wagyu sandwich with caviar. Can't wait to go back.

GUI Steakhouse was absolutely amazing! The food was outstanding, the steak was perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth, and the crème of corn side dish was spectacular. What truly made our night unforgettable was our server, Jose. He was attentive, explained everything with such grace, offered great suggestions, and added humor that made the evening even more enjoyable. His service truly set the tone and made all the difference. From the delicious food to the exceptional service and welcoming ambiance, GUI exceeded our expectations.

Service was amazing and gave us good recommendations. Cocktails and appetizers were so creative and flavorful!! The main steak dish was so soft and buttery with great texture. And of course the desserts were excellent with surprising twist to the flavor!!

What a delightful evening! From the very warm welcome at the door to being seated so that we had a great view of the kitchen... and an extremely attentive service staff we had a "best ever" culinary experience. Items of note included the shrimp toast with beluga caviar and the incredible selection of unusual sides - try the pea leaves - Right up to the prime rib, filet mignon, and New York strip which four of us all shared so we all got a taste 😋 Followed by a dessert buffet provided by pastry chef Faye and her team. Definitely try the panna cotta and Earl Gray sorbet. And if you have room the chocolate layered mousse.

One of the better chickens I’ve ever had. They were accommodating about food allergies. Jose our staff was great. Super attentive and kind and hard working, but not overbearing. A delicate balance and he did it great. The atmosphere is wonderful. I’ll be back!

Booked for pre theatre dinner fixed price menu. Excellent service, great food and fantastic value. Our server Jake was attentive and the other staff kept our table clean and drinks topped up. Had us out in time for our show. Lovely experience. Thank you.

An excellent restaurant offering superb steaks and sides matched with impeccable table service. On the pricey side, but, expected for this level of quality in the heart of Manhattan.

Truly an amazing vibe with really great quality food Service: Shout-outs to Ann & Suz for being amazingly helpful; they understood the food and wine menu respectively and provided great recommendations Vibe: Super clean upscale vibes without being pretentious. The space was very comfortable and great for conversation Food: None of the dishes were a miss. Stand-outs were the hwe mulchim, kimchi wagyu fried rice, and the A5 sirloin; the desserts were also SO solid and good Drinks: On the sweeter side for the cocktails, but definitely very yummy (like the type of drink you could easily sip quickly until it’s gone) Price: While on the higher side, I feel like the taste-to-price is worth it, and I’d definitely go back :)

Everything we order went way beyond expectations, this place was above and beyond. Here is my take: we had seafood towers, the scallops, oysters, tuna, crabs , lobster tail all was so fresh, it was literally if your where taking them out of fresh fish market. The wine selection and temperature control was like you where at a top notched bodega in Europe, helped by an amazing knowledgeable sommerlier , thank you Olive Ko.. The steaks, porterhouse and prime rib, where cooked to perfection, the side orders, we had many different, all where excellent choices, the rice, corn & cheese, other things with an beautiful orange sauce, the deserts we ordered three choices, all was excellent. For the finish a desert wine which was another superb choice from, Olive.

I visited this steakhouse during Restaurant Week, with high expectations. I was particularly curious to see how a steakhouse would incorporate Korean elements. Being on the second floor, it required taking an elevator, which was a bit inconvenient, but I viewed it as part of the experience. The interior design was absolutely beautiful. It masterfully blended traditional Korean aesthetics with a mid century modern feel. I also liked that it was a semi open kitchen where I could see what the chefs were doing. However, contrasting with the elegant decor, the atmosphere was surprisingly loud. The music felt out of place, with heavy beats (even Rihanna's “Please Don't Stop the Music” played, and similar songs, which was surprising). I think even if it's not classic/overly calm music, something more subdued would have been a better fit. For food, we started with complimentary bread that was both adorable and delicious, especially warm. The butter wasn't particularly memorable. For appetizers, we ordered the Hwe Muchim and the Mari Spicy Tuna Tartar. The Hwe Muchim featured incredibly fresh, thinly sliced raw yellowtail. The refreshing, yuzu like flavor came from the sauce underneath. When eaten with the papaya salad, it was bright and delicious; I felt it was a triumph of good ingredients. The Mari Spicy Tuna Tartar was tasty and had a charming kick of spice. I felt it was a familiar taste, but my friend, who tried it for the first time, found it incredibly new and different. For our mains, we chose the Prime Rib Special and the Today’s Market Fish. Taking the first bite of the Prime Rib Special was genuinely surprising. The texture was like 장조림 (Korean braised beef), yet the meat was incredibly tender, which was both unique and impressive. This truly made me understand why they call it a Korean style steakhouse. It came with a soy based sauce and a white horseradish sauce. I preferred the latter, finding its spicy and almost cheesy taste incredibly delicious, while my friend preferred the former. The mashed potatoes served on the side were also truly amazing; they seemed to have cheese and were just so good. My only complaint was the presence of sinew, which was a bit annoying. Despite that, it was extremely delicious and I highly recommend it. Having been to many steakhouses in New York, this one truly left an impression. The fish was also delicious on its own; it was savory and perfectly grilled. However, when eaten with its accompanying sauce, I felt its charm significantly diminished, almost as if its inherent savory taste was lost. The sauce itself tasted good when eaten separately. The snow pea shoots beneath the fish were also savory and delicious. Dessert was a bit of a disappointment, perhaps because I'm not a big dessert person to begin with. The cake was just a tasty chocolate cake with some added texture, nothing particularly special. The Paris Jeju seemed to have a somewhat soggy bread like texture, which greatly reduced its appeal for me. While both were edible, they weren't memorable, and I think a sorbet or something fresh to cleanse the palate would have been a better option. The service was excellent. Everyone was friendly and professional. I was amazed to find my napkin refolded and my water glass constantly refilled whenever I stepped away or finished, leaving no need to ask. They also cleared crumbs from the table after we ate. I appreciated that they maintained the classic mannerisms of a traditional steakhouse. However, I was surprisingly disappointed by the restroom's cleanliness. There were many water marks on the seating area, and the trash can was full and wouldn't close. It was good that there was a separate hand washing area outside the stalls. While it's expensive, preventing frequent visits, I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a unique steakhouse experience in New York. I would love to return and try more dishes in the future.

Everything was fantastic. Service was incredibly fast and accommodating. They checked for allergies and if we had a show to catch. Food was flavorful and had diverse flavors. I had the most tender steak I've ever had. The guy at the next table said the same, while boasting that he's a steak connoisseur. We had the pix price meal, with yellow fin raw fish as an appetizer. Exquisite!

S
Sam G

Had a very nice ambiance with a warm wood finishes everywhere. The backlighting of the bar and the globe chandeliers completed the modern theme. The yellowfin tuna confit was uniquely prepared with spicy mayo and chili flakes and had the aroma of roasted garlic. The branzino filet, served on a bed of snow pea shoots, was generously portioned and perfectly grilled.

We were walking in the theatre district and came across GUI Steakhouse. The atmosphere is an umami of relaxing and energetic. The music encourages you to dance in your seat, but also can be the soundtrack of your conversation. The staff is very welcoming and courteous. From the moment we entered, everyone greeted us. Even without reservations, we were seated quickly. Our waitress, Ann, was very accommodating and informed about flavors of Korean cuisine. As for food, the taste is everything! I ordered the Dan Dan Noodles. Hubby had the 12oz Galbi. For sides, we had the eggplant katsu and the wild mushrooms. Every bite was so delicious. The Dan Dan Noodles were a great combination of the chili oil, scallions, and exotically spicy szechuan peppercorns. It was exactly what my taste buds wanted. The hubby's Galbi was sensational: tender meat, suckable bones, and flavor-packed. In addition, the wasabi chimichurri sauce elevated the experience with the Galbi. The eggplant katsu was a wonderful treat of robust flavor, while the mushrooms served pure earthy tones to the meal. For dessert, the most decadent and eye-candy slice of carrot cake for him; while I had the most interesting Baked Alaska. It was so beautiful, I hated to dig my fork into it. Pros: Food Staff Atmosphere Cons: Parking (It's NY, walk it! But if you are in the Times Square/Broadway area, walking is the best) Price if you're trying to pinch pennies (You don't eat this well being a dollar-menuaire) Overall: What an experience! Our taste buds were satiated and amazed. I wish I could have met the chef because this deserves all the Michelin stars in the world! If you love Korean food and want major upscale quality, with elegance and a love of flavor, you will want to visit Gui.

Definitely ask for Jacob! He provided excellent service. The ambience was amazing too. Jacob recommended the Denver steak which so tender and it was incredible! The dragon fruit sorbet was so yummy also. We will definitely be back. I cant wait to try more of the dishes here. The chefs know what they are doing in the kitchen. 🤩🤩🤩

New experience from Kochi. The restaurant used to be an old staples so they did an excellent job renovating. For the food: - bread with brioche was excellent and was one of my favorite 5/5 - Caesar’s salad was not as Caesar as I thought so it had its own twist. I prefer Caesar’s being strong Caesar tasting so 3/5 - the toast with caviar had decent dipping sauce; the buffalo orange one is better 4/5 - prime rib was extremely tender and delicious 5/5 favorite dish for meat - wagyu was very buttery and maybe too rich in flavor 4/5 - Kim chi fried rice was small for $32 but surprisingly decently filling 4/5 - Brussels sprouts were good and not too oily 5/5 Overall, it was a treat here. Excellent meats and good vibes. A bit dark inside, but comfortable

I knew this place was going to be special but wow. My utmost to the chef and our waitress. She was phenomenal. The chef, I've seen him in videos and was impressed but the beef was something I've never imagined. Ive had A5 Wagyu. But this...the rump i had was unbelievable. The Kimchi Wagyu fried rice was also incredible. And last, we had the Paris Jeju and my wife was blown away by the at dessert. I am not even normally a blackberry person but it was so light and so flavorful. 10/10 experience. I've told everyone already. Ann T was our waitress, she was incredible. One of the best high end experiences I've had from a server. Period.

I took my fiancé to Gui Steakhouse for his birthday on Saturday. We had an early dinner around 6:00 PM after seeing a Broadway matinee. In my reservation notes, I noted that we'd love a nicer table for the celebration and the restaurant not only delivered, but made it special from the time we walked in until we left. They also emailed me beforehand to confirm they saw my note. When we arrived, the hostess greeted him with a Happy Birthday and our waiter gave him a special Birthday menu. For drinks, we started with the Gui Tai and the Guava cocktails. The Gui Tai was on the sweeter side (a perfect take on the Mai Tai for my fiancé who loves tiki-style drinks) and my Guava drink was sweet enough with a slight tartness (which is perfect for me!). The food was outstanding. We ordered quite a few things to share, including the Mandoo to start with the Gui Brioche sent by the chef. For our mains we split the Thick Cut Galbi with the added on the lobster tail and king crab leg, Kimchi Wagyu Fried Rice, Dan Dan Noodle and Potato Rosti. For dessert, we went with the Baked Alaska, and they added a little birthday candle on the side of the plate. Each dish was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. Whether you're a tourist or a city local (like us), Gui Steakhouse is the perfect restaurant for a night out or special occasion. We're already talking about when we want to go back!

From one of my favorite chefs of Michelin starred Kochi and Mari comes his new Steakhouse concept. This is not Korean bbq - it's more of a traditional steakhouse with some Asian twists. The result is fantastic! A lot of dry aged cuts are available which are displayed as soon as you get off on the second floor. Great wine selection as a steakhouse should have, but also an awesome cocktail program. Loved the spicy tuna appetizer with bagel chips (from Mari) and the clam chowder pie from appetizers but everything was quite delicious. The signature prime rib is excellent, as well as the sides and sauces for all their steaks. The kimchi wagyu fried rice is also great. Tasty desserts too! This to me is more fun that a traditional steakhouse and they have other non steak entrees for those with dietary restrictions. LUNCH UPDATE! These might be the best lunch deals in the city! A steak frites pre fixe for $23 that comes with a spring salad and unlimited fries. And a 3-course power lunch for only $37! Lunch only entrees include a delicious dry aged burger and a shaved prime rib French dip sandwich!

Gorgeous Korean steakhouse restaurant. The service was top notch and everything was very delicious. The Waygu sandwich was a highlight as well as the Cesar salad. A bit overpriced but that’s what you get for dining in Time Square haha.

I had dinner at Gui Steakhouse on Sunday night, and everything was absolutely superb. The food is delicious and full of bold flavors. I highly recommend the hamachi with green papaya juice—it’s savory, perfectly seasoned, and has just the right amount of spice. The prime rib is another standout. It’s rubbed with black garlic and black pepper, and it literally melts in your mouth—super tender and flavorful. The tuna tartare is excellent—a must-have appetizer. I also loved the dragon fruit sorbet for dessert; it’s refreshing and unique. As for drinks, don’t miss out on the Gui Tai, Sticking Situation, and Paradise cocktails. They’re creative, well-balanced, and pair beautifully with the meal. Highly recommended!

We tried this place for a friend’s birthday and we really liked it! Service was great. The downstairs lobby area has a chic bar which is perfect for grabbing a drink if you get there early. Then you take the elevators upstairs for dinner. I loved the wagyu katsu sando with caviar on top - must get! The brioche and mandoo were also very good. I did not try the tuna appetizer because I wasn’t eating fish at this time. We got the kimchi fried rice which is small but I’d still recommend. Loved the mushroom side and the eggplant!! I also loved the prime rib special, it’s a must. We got the smaller size of that. We also got the strip steak which maybe came out a touch more cooked than we would have liked but we still enjoyed. I liked the sauce accompaniments. The desserts were nice, not too sweet and the chocolate one had great texture. Def recommend especially you are in the area before/after watching a show!

Chef Shim delivers again! My new favorite restaurant whenever I’m in the theatre district. The food is amazing and the ambience has so much detail I could stare at the walls all day. As soon as I walked in, I was invited into the bar because it’s unbelievably mesmerizing that I just had to get a drink. The cocktails are all tasteful and well balanced. Then the hostess takes you upstairs into the main dining hall through the elevator. We started off with oysters as always and the shrimp cocktail was my favorite. We tried a bunch of different appetizers and all of them were a hit. Then came the meats! We got the tomahawk, porter house and the PRIME RIB just melts in your mouth! I only had Korean inspired dishes with steaks at my home but now I get to enjoy it right in the heart of the city.

We had the A5 wagyu katsu sando as our entree which was as good as the one we had in Oniku Karyu in Tokyo but elevated with the brininess of caviar. For our mains we had the king cut prime rib and galbi paired with sundubu jiggae and potato rosti. The prime rib and galbi were both a standout and the prime rib was comparable to 4 charles. The galbi was delicious and is a favourite of mine. While I loved the jiggae, the potato rosti was okay and not memorable. The black and white cake was a great finsiher to the meal. Overall a great meal and experience.

I like beef, but I don't naturally gravitate to thick slabs of dead cow, so take this review with a grain of salt (bae)--I don't frequent steakhouses much. That said, I do know that NYC doesn't have a single non-American-style steakhouse, so Gui's decisively Korean version of this cuisine style is a refreshing change. Let me be clear: This is a Korean steakhouse. Not Korean BBQ. Korean. Steakhouse. It serves all the big slabs of cow people know and love, but with Korean flavors and enhancements. We started with some apps to whet our apps. The A5 Wagyu Katsu Sando with caviar was delicate, rich and delicious. The Mala Gambas was literally a Szechuan mala version of the classic tapas dish, complete with Szechuan peppercorns--genius and delicious, though the accompanying sourdough toast was too stale. The Hwe Muchim was refreshing and complex, definitely many people's favorite of the bunch. And the bright, beautiful Mandoo were perfectly crispy and juicy, fancy without losing any of their Korean comfort-ness. For slabs of cow, we got the USDA Prime Rib, which was huge and perfectly seared. The accompanying horseradish sauce, which Gui makes in-house, was one of the best I've had. We also ordered Bearnaise with makgeolli, Chimichurri with wasabi, Bordelaise with black garlic, and Choron sauce with gochujang sauces. When they arrived in their cute little white gravy dishes, I led our group of friends in creating a tasting palette on our plates--which our server said no one else had ever done. While all the sauces were exceptional (and uniquely Korean) in their own way, the chimichurri with wasabi was easily my favorite. I now require all chimichurris to be made with mustard. I want my sauce to burrrrrn! We also added other mains: The Thick Cut Galbi was flavorful and moist, and the Olive Jeju Flounder was tender and moist. The Kimchi Wagyu Fried Rice was solid though unremarkable. And the Sunchoke side was perfectly cooked (and also unique), while the Roasted Brussel Sprouts should satisfy steak traditionalists. For sweet munchies, we got the perfectly flaky and creamy Paris-Jeju, a traditional brest made with jejsu sejak, kumquat and white chocolate. But my favorite was definitely the Baked Alaska, a perfect structure of egg white filled with tangy yuzu mousse, almond, citrus, and pink peppercorn. Gui's second floor, Times Sq-adjacent location might turn off some people, but I encourage you to brave the aggro Elmos and Ernies to give this place a try. If you love steak and you love Korean food, you'll wonder how you lived this long without combining them Luckily, Gui now exists.

This is truly based on only the things we ordered. Blown away by the ambiance, cocktail balance/flavors, most of the food and the service. Here is why it was "most". The mushrooms were WAY too salty and sweet and the bone in ribeye while amazing was too salty as well. That being said, everything else from the bread (best bread I've ever had at a restaurant), the prime rib and the yookhwae (raw beef tartare) were amazing. Just wish the taste of the meat itself was the star instead of the salt. Maybe lessen the salt when seasoning and give salt as a side?

My family’s first Christmas dinner together at GUI Steakhouse was simply more than amazing. Despite the restaurant being incredibly busy on a holiday night, our server Tshepo went above and beyond to take care of us with genuine warmth, patience, and attention. He made us feel truly welcomed. The manager Awa was also fantastic—thoughtful, present, and clearly invested in making sure every guest had a great experience. What made the night especially meaningful was that they helped make our son’s first Christmas dinner something we’ll never forget. That kind of care is rare and deeply appreciated. Having dined at Mari and Kochi, and knowing how popular Chef Sungchul Shim has become following the Netflix show (Culinary Class Wars Season 2) our expectations were high—but this experience still exceeded them. We were even fortunate enough to meet the chef, which made the evening even more memorable. And of course, the food was outstanding—thoughtful, beautifully executed, and absolutely delicious. An unforgettable Christmas dinner and a place we’ll always remember fondly. Highly recommend.

Gui reminds me of a typical upscale steakhouse but with a Korean twist - and it works! I really enjoyed some of their more unique options that you wouldn’t find in a typical American steakhouse like the kimchi fried rice and yookhwe. Everything else was good - nothing special but extremely fresh. Their cocktails were good but the desserts were a bit of a miss for me - nothing memorable. I’d definitely come back if I was having a large event and needed to be in the midtown area. The waiting staff was nice and the vibe inside is simple but upscale. Would recommend for a work event or large group gathering.

Good food, good atmosphere and great service. The rib eye was good but the galbi was better!! The chocolate sorbet was pretty amazing too. Good mix of steak and Korean side dishes. Highly recommended.

Say I’m bias, but they gave us a night to remember for our Anniversary Dinner. They let us keep the custom menu with the special header!!! Kudos to John for his service - will have to ask for him every-time we visit!! The starter bread was warm, fluffy, garlicy and flavorful - great start. They decanted our wine - always a plus NY strip was DELISH!!!! The galbi was also OFF THE BONE. Absolutely stunning. Marinated carrots were tangy (a touch too sweet for our liking) The mashed potato - honestly - heavenly. Ive had a ton of mash in my day … it takes the cake to date!! Dan dan noodles had wonderful flavor, but i think the specific noodle they use threw me off a bit with the texture. It had a similar vibe to a slightly thicker 쌀국수. Would i eat again? Certainly. The soodooboo - i could live without. I will say, the cha dol beef that’s in it though was DEVINE. The actual soup base didnt feel proper. Baked Alaska… i should’ve listened to our server… it wasn’t my favorite thing The black & white dessert was a perfect finisher. The caramel samjjang was such a fun surprise! We had a beautiful and delicious dinner and we can’t wait to come back!!

World class steaks made with incredible technique and skills from chef Shim who has earned a few Michelin stars. It takes three days to make the prime rib and is a bite you don’t want to miss. A must go to steakhouse!

Excellent rib-eye 16 oz, had the fried rice as well as the bi-bim bop rice. Had the shrimp for starters and the green drink aka sexy lemonade. Wonderful dinner before our broadway show!

From the moment I walked into GIU, I knew I was in for something special. The atmosphere was warm, vibrant, and welcoming a perfect blend of elegance and energy right in the heart of Times Square. The food was truly out of this world — every dish was bursting with flavor, beautifully presented, and made with clear attention to detail. You can tell the chefs here have real passion for what they do. Each bite felt like a masterpiece, and I honestly didn’t want the meal to end! The service was equally exceptional. Every staff member was genuinely kind, attentive, and went above and beyond to make sure our experience was perfect. It wasn’t just professional service — it was heartfelt hospitality. GIU is the kind of place that reminds you why dining out can be such a joy. Whether you’re visiting New York or live here, this spot is an absolute must-visit. I can’t recommend it enough — 5 stars all the way! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I went a little crazy and ordered 7 appetizers, plus an extra fish dish, and my main course steak was huge. I ordered 2 desserts but the server surprised me with one more, so I ended up with 3. I love this place and will definitely be back. 🥂✨

Dined at Gui during Restaurant Week, and it offered great value for money. The Caesar salad was a standout— creamy dressing, generous shredded cheese, and a Korean twist with dried fish bits that truly elevated the whole salad. The brioche was fluffy and amazing especially with their butter. For a steakhouse, the steak was a bit disappointing: it lacked natural beef flavor and didn’t have the richness we expected. While the sauce added a Korean punch, the meat relied almost entirely on it for flavor. The black and white chocolate cake made for a perfect finish, with a moist, flavorful sponge. Service was friendly and attentive, and the chic, high-end interior added to the overall experience. Open to dining here again but probably with other entrées on my list since the steak wasn’t the standout for me.

It's been days and I'm still thinking about the Denver steak. From the moment we walked into GUI I was impressed. Our waiter, Jose, was beyond attentive and made the most exquisite recommendations. His extensive training of the flavor profiles did not go unnoticed. We started with the Katsu, perfectly executed. Moving on we tried the Denver steak and the prime rib. We also got the kimchi fried rice. For dessert, you must try the baked Alaska! Every single dish was perfection. From the food to the service, there's absolutely nothing I would change and we had the most stunning dining experience.

First time here for a birthday dinner and it was a great time! Suitable for large groups, we ordered several appetizers and cuts of steak. I thought it was going to be like Asian BBQ, but it was very much like a classic steak house. Decor was sleek and modern and service was very attentive. Definitely a must try and great for birthdays and large groups!

We had the 3-course power lunch. The service was excellent with the minimal time between courses, the staff constantly checking on our water, drinks, clearing plates, etc. The food was also excellent with the standouts being the corn side and the dessert. We had the black and white cake and the paris jeju. We liked the vibe and music especially considering it wasn't too busy yet since we dined right at noon when they opened.

Kochi and Mari are two of my fave restaurants so I had very high expectations coming to Gui for the first time and it did not disappoint! We took the recommendations of our lovely waiter, Tshepo, and we were so glad we did! I started off with the Guava 2.0 cocktail. It was so delicious and the perfect balance of liquor and sweetness. My husband had a martini, made table side. Tshepo asked my daughter if she preferred apple or pineapple and came back with the most delicious apple mocktail— my daughter would go on to order 2 more. Tshepo recommended the Caesar salad —the lettuce was slightly charred, lots of yummy cheese- and the salmon crudo— I don’t know what sauce this was swimming in but it could’ve been my next cocktail it was so delicious. For the main course we ordered the prime rib — best ever- and the grilled ribeye- cooked perfectly. They came with a medley of sauces and accompaniments that weren’t really necessary but fun to try. We had the Brussels sprouts, corn, eggplant katsu, and wagyu fried rice. All had comforting familiar flavors with surprising Korean twists. Finally for dessert, we tried the Paris- Jeju (creamy and fruity), apple cheesecake (rich and comforting), and the prickly pear sorbet (light and refreshing.) Overall, it was a wonderful experience. This will be our go-to for pre/post theater meals. We can’t wait to go back and try new things!

The Hype is REAL! 🥩🔥 OMG where do I even start? The food is unreal and the staff is so classy! They literally treated us like royalty. The Steak Frites was the best I’ve ever had—literally melted in my mouth. That Ribeye was cooked to perfection: crispy on the outside and super juicy inside. And don't even get me started on the mashed potatoes and spinach... I’ve never had mash that creamy in my entire life! No wonder the chef has a Michelin star! We went for Restaurant Week; my husband got the lunch special and that Salmon Tartare was next level. Even the bread, the butter, and the dessert were a total 10/10. Seriously, you guys HAVE to check this place out. Worth every penny🔥 I inhaled half the food before I could even snap a pic, I literally couldn't wait! 😂

Gui Steakhouse – NYC Times Square is not your usual steakhouse. they have korean twist to some of their menu. their attention to details is top tier.
we went for a birthday celebration and our menu has “happy birthday” on it 🫶🏻 they actually paid attention to your resy request. what we tried: 🥩 caviar a5 wagyu katsu sandwich ($58)—it fits the definition of a perfect bite. the soft bread with crunchy breadcrumb, followed by melt in the mouth wagyu with pieces of caviar. 🥩 prime rib ($79)—this is the softest and wholesome bite of the night. a mist order here. i prefer dipping rather than soaking the sauce over the rib. the meat itself is really good. 🥩 wagyu kimchi fried rice ($32)—they add the smokey feeling to this one, which perfectly elevates the usual fried rice. it is a great intervention of asian taste during the meaty session. 🍹 espresso martini ($23)—my fav drink to order and it did not disappoint 🫶🏻 the vibe is more like higher end restaurant. but the server makes you feel like home. it is perfect for couples or even big groups. save this for your next special occasion or just to satisfy your meat craving ✨

Chose this place on a whim as we wanted to go to a fancy steakhouse restaurant in NYC before we left NY. This is located in Manhattan by time square. The only way or best option to get here is by train unless you have a chauffeur or get here by uber or taxi. There is no free parking and street parking would be difficult. Going in the building, there is bar area. Good for a hang out for a drink. Take the elevator for the dining area to see the reception desk. We were greeted fairly well by all the staff. The server was funny and helpful too. It was not too crowded for lunch. The restaurant was very modern and nicely decorated. We had their lunch special so it might be different from their dinner menu. Great selection of wine and spirit drinks. My hubs and I had their Pinot Noir to start as we love wine with steak. We all ended up getting their GUI Prix Fixe for all of us. My husband and daughter had their lunch special prime Rib special prix fixe while I had the Filet Mignon 8oz prix fixe. My son had their lunch special regular prix fixe. I tried my husband’s prime rib and it was cooked well. I loved my mignon medium better. It was cooked well with perfect seasoning that I didn’t need anything with it but I love a good steak with horseradish cream with all my steak. The horseradish was not spicy though. Did not like the crème corn sauce that it came with though. My son had their hanger steak frites and he was only ok with it. Our sides were pretty good. The Caesar salad was small but good. It had too much cheese though and for me to say that is horrendous! The Mari Spicy tuna was ok to me. They also give free warm bread as well before your meal. The dessert were all good. The Prix Fixe meal came with dessert. We tried all. The black and white cake was moist and perfect. The panna cotta was just right and refreshing with sweet fruits of tropical fruit. The chocolate and dragonfruit sorbet was good as well. All in all, loved our experience and food here. I would definitely recommend this place for a romantic dinner or even a group meal. They have space.

A flight up the stairs, to the left of an infinity mirror and you enter Gui. It's a surprisingly big dining space, mixing moody contemporary with a bit of Korean tradition you can see in the mother of pearl decorating the restaurant and in the dishes. Their lunch options are select, so you won't see some of their dinner mains like their kimchi fried rice with wagyu but I think the options they do offer are currated really well. We tried their steak frite, their Gui burger, and their eggplant katsu. The steak has a charcoal cook and to really enjoy the meat it's cooked red in the center. Now, this can be off-putting to some and look raw but it is properly cooked and a good cut for such a cook. The burger was very good, just good meat, good components like the bun and cheese choice to make it a very satisfying choice. The eggplant katsu is a bit salty but I thought it was also worth trying. A great fry, good eggplant taste layered up like a lasagna, and a ragout sauce with good acid and tomato flavor to it. As for the desserts we tried their black and white cake and their Paris Jeju. Moist chocolate cake, layered with a spiced chocolate ganache and a small bit of miso caramel, not too sweet and so good. Their Paris Jeju was a deal stunner though. A spin off a Paris breast with a tea cream and blackberry jam all in a cream puff ring. Delicate, light, and perfectly balanced. With great service and great food, I feel like you can't go wrong coming here at least once.

What a beautiful restaurant to celebrate an occasion! I came here for my friends birthday and we ordered quite a lot - mainly from the sides menu. We honestly filled up on the sides because they were so delicious 😋 the aesthetics and service of the restaurant was great. I definitely would come back for another celebration!

Food was absolutely amazing. Service was fantastic. And the atmosphere is great. We told the restaurant it was are anniversary and they made us a special menu that said happy anniversary either our names on the top. Drinks were perfect. Can be pricey if you decide to go all out which I highly recommend. The A5 wagyu was melt in your mouth and their filet mignon was delicious as well. I would highly recommend this place.

At Gui Steakhouse in Times Square, the familiar rituals of the New York steakhouse are subtly reimagined through a Korean lens. The result is a menu that respects tradition while gently unsettling expectations—in the best way. The meal opens with a crudo of remarkable freshness, its clean flavors sharpened by thoughtful seasoning rather than overwhelmed by it. A shared plate of kimchi fried rice with wagyu follows, rich and deeply savory, each bite balancing fermented tang with the unmistakable depth of well-marbled beef. It is indulgent without tipping into excess. The prime rib, the restaurant’s centerpiece, arrives tender and carefully cooked, accompanied by a sauce that enhances rather than masks its natural flavor. Even dessert avoids heaviness: a baked Alaska that feels unexpectedly light, its sweetness restrained and precise. Gui Steakhouse succeeds not by reinventing the steakhouse, but by refining it—introducing Korean accents that feel integrated rather than ornamental. In a neighborhood known for spectacle, it offers something rarer: a sense of intention, and a meal that lingers in memory long after the last course.

The steaks and Korean sauces are fabulous as expected. The service was very good. The manager was very attentive to my gluten free needs. There was a lot of menu I couldn't enjoy because of the prevalence of soy sauce but they were very accommodating nonetheless. Attached pic is a delicious gluten free walnut cake for dessert.

The porterhouse steak was excellent! I loved the beefy flavor. The bone-in ribeye was just okay; unfortunately, they didn't have any aged beef available during my visit, which was really disappointing since I noticed some on the displayed shelf🤨.The cooking time for the steaks was perfect, but the sauces didn't meet my expectations. We ordered the one with wasabi, but I couldn't taste the wasabi at all. I wouldn't really recommend that sauce. The service was poor. We ordered both east coast oysters and west coast oysters but the waiters just left the dish on the table without telling us which is which. We didn't order the drink yet and the waiter took away the drinking menu. ?!😞

I’m pretty sure you guys remember me. So, your service is top of the class, very nice place with very professional and friendly staff. Your team leads (the lady and the gentleman) are very good at what they do. So I’m taking the time to leave the comment: Your kitchen sucks. You need to do a full reevaluation of your kitchen staff. They served me 3 shrimps in a very poorly made gambas and one of them had gone bad — it is really not that hard to source fresh shrimps here. The galbi was way too salty, it was clearly a poorly prepped sauce. If you go downstairs and find a random Korean or Spanish bistro, they do better than you (kitchen-wise). I sincerely hope to visit again.

Came for a weekday restaurant week lunch. I had the Caesar salad and the burger, both were decent, nothing exceptional. The restaurant feels like a hotel restaurant, although I am not sure whether it is. The room is spacious and comfortable, and although there seems to be a significant number of staff, sometimes we felt poorly attended to. I don’t think we will be back.

The waiting time was so disappointed. We arrived at 5:50 PM for our reservation but were not seated until 7:20 PM, which is unacceptable. There was also no proper waiting area or seating. everyone just stand crowded together. The food itself was good but the portions were small. ribs and the A5 wagyu katsu sando were good, although the sando was quite small.

Not gonna lie, when I saw the location for this place, I felt immediate dread having to trek through tourists, giant Elmo’s and peanut stand chaos in the heart of times square . However, I would say the meal was worth the midtown madness. The ambiance inside was surprisingly sleek for the neighborhood and the martini trolley that rolls up to your table was a nice touch. Appetizers were solid - the shrimp toast with caviar was the standout but the steakhouse staples Caesar salad and bacon strips held their own too. The ceviche was bright and well dressed. Steak wise, we got the NY strip and galbi. Both were good but out of the 2, the galbi was the clear winner. Corn side was spectacular but the Kim chi Wagyu fried rice was a bit of a let down - it lacked any kind of unique flavor, was too oily and over priced. Kimchi fried rice with overcooked Wagyu should never cost more than $20. Asian parents would not approve. Desserts were okay on average. Panna cotta and the black and white mousse were the best. Overall, it was a solid meal and a good restaurant option if you happen to be in the area

and here for new york restaurant week with my family, and i would say i was a bit underwhelmed? the deal is extremely good for a steakhouse and the food was all pretty good for what we got. the wait for the food was the bad part as we waited for our food for 45 minutes for our entrees ! we were only a small family of 4 and they probably wanted to bring all of our dishes out at once which is reasonable. overall a really good experience, i only say that the experience was a bit underwhelming only bc the wait was kind of long and the flavor of the steak wasn’t exactly my taste but taste is smt that’s more subjective

GUI Steakhouse delivers a fantastic dining experience, especially if you’re here for the prime rib sandwich. The meat was perfectly tender, flavorful, and piled high, with just the right amount of au jus to keep every bite rich and juicy. The bread had a great texture—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside—and complemented the prime rib beautifully. The service was another highlight. Our server was attentive without hovering, making sure drinks stayed full and that we had everything we needed. From the warm greeting at the door to the quick check-in during the meal, it felt like they genuinely cared about our experience. If you’re in the mood for a standout prime rib sandwich and great service, GUI Steakhouse is worth the visit.

Great food and a great location, perfect spot to grab a fancy steak after catching a Broadway show. The only downside was the service on the ground floor. The man at the bar told me it wasn’t open yet even though it showed as open on the map, and when he asked me to wait for a table he seemed really impatient; he basically set me aside and forgot about me. When I checked in again, he just told me to head straight upstairs if I didn’t have a reservation, even though I saw other groups being taken up by the elevators. Once I got to the second floor, the service was much better, not amazing, but at least respectful. The food was excellent and came out surprisingly fast. Despite the rough start with service, I’d still say this is a great place for steak and worth the price.

Stopped in for some appetizers at the bar, this is separated as a waiting area, dark lighting, away from the rest of the restaurant. Bartender accidentally gave me a full dose of their tea extract in a drink instead of a simple unsweet tea... they corrected it though after checking their work! Oysters were cool and refreshing, good sauce (forgot to ask which one it was), our bar neighbors met the chef with a raucous drink in hand. The sliders were 1x per order, but were quite good. And the fries were on-point, not too thick and cooked right. Will have to eat here another time for a full dinner!

We visited GUI Steakhouse late at night with a reservation. The experience was comfortable and pleasant, but it didn’t quite deliver the vibe we were expecting from a steakhouse. The atmosphere felt a bit flat—there was a lack of music or energy to set a clear tone. It wasn’t intimate and moody, nor did it have a lively, DJ-style ambiance. Service, however, was very good. Our server was attentive, kind, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the meal. The steak itself was good and enjoyable. The sauces were fine but not particularly memorable. Everything was solid, just nothing that truly “wow’d” us. Overall, it was a nice experience and one we don’t regret having. While it doesn’t score a perfect rating due to the lack of standout moments, it’s still a comfortable, well-executed steakhouse visit—worthy of a solid four rather than a five.

Great spot in Times Square for an upscale dinner before or after a show. The steak was cooked perfectly and had excellent flavor, and the Korean-inspired sides added a unique twist you don’t usually get at a classic steakhouse. The atmosphere is modern and stylish, though it can get a bit loud during peak hours. Service was friendly overall, but timing felt slightly rushed at times. Prices are on the higher side, but expected for the location and quality. Good for: date night, special occasions, pre-theater dining. Would come back for the steak and cocktails.

Upon entering Gui, there’s a nice and elegant bar on the ground level where you can grab a quick drink. The elevator takes you to the second floor, which is where the restaurant is. Our waiter was friendly, walked us through the specials, and recommended a few entrées to share. We started with a few specialty cocktails, and each one was amazing in its own way. For appetizers, we ordered the A5 wagyu katsu sando and the yookhwe. The wagyu katsu sando literally melts in your mouth. I could eat ten of these! The seaweed chips paired perfectly with the yookhwe. For mains, we ordered the galbi, tomahawk, creamed corn, and roasted brussels sprouts. The galbi absolutely stole the show. It was thick cut, tender and flavorful. The presentation of the tomahawk was amazing, but didn't stand out, as it could've been seasoned better. Overall, we had a great experience, and I'll definitely be back to try more of their other dishes and drinks!

Our hunt for the best prime rib in NYC led us to GUI this week. We tried the kings cut prime rib, bone-in ribeye and NY strip. The ribeye was the best which may not be surprising but the cook on all 3 were on point however the seasoning was somewhat lacking. Now about the prime rib, super tender but also not as flavorful as we’d hope. Crust could’ve been saltier too. At $145 it ties 4 Charles as the most expensive prime rib we’ve tried in the city so far. Was it worth it? Not really. The top 5 right remains: Keens, Bowery Meat co, La tete d’or, the grill, 4 Charles. But with most of these costing $130-145, keens is an absolute steal at $90. Penalized GUI on service because they were “backed up” on a half empty Tuesday night. Not sure what that was about but we can see into the kitchen and it looked pretty chaotic. Full hour for our food to be served. To make up for it we got free bread (laughable that bread wasn’t included). And this basically tells you all you need to know about this restaurant. Fun fact: most expensive side was Yu Choy at $18! What is happening lol Verdict: will not return nor recommend !

I wanted to try the Gui Cut after reading about the time and effort that goes into its preparation. Unfortunately, it was not impressive, lacking flavor and resembling roasted beef. The cut was thin and the portion quite small, making it hard to justify the $89 price. I felt I would have needed two orders to be satisfied. Additionally, the stem of the wine glass was greasy, which was disappointing given the $25 price for a glass of red wine. What affected our experience most was the frequent interruption with several staff members stopping by to ask about the food. While I understand this may be common in American restaurant culture, it disrupted our conversation and overall enjoyment.

**Update 03/03/26** Great customer service. I received a call from the delightful Awa and we discussed our frustrations from that night, and she expressed how disappointment and concerned both her and the chef are. Although, they strive to deliver a great experience every time, I believe we just caught them in an off moment. I appreciate her contacting me and offering some compensation for the inconvenience and hope we can visit there again soon. Original review: The steaks were just okay and I'll admit that I've made better at home. I'm not the most skilled and am not trying to brag or criticize the chef's skills, but we paid $300 for 2.5 lbs of meat (one was aged/bone-in) and with everything else, it cost $520 including tip. We expected better at that price but the biggest issue I had was the cleanliness of the restaurant. They didn't provide lunch service due to some operational issues they experienced that morning, but that's no excuse for all of the restrooms being filthy. And I mean filthy. Even the carpeting in the elevator and around parts of the restaurant were heavily soiled. Forgive me, but I worked in the commercial cleaning industry a few years ago and did restaurant inspections. Not the best look for such a high-end establishment, regardless of the issues they were having earlier.

Saw some hype over this place online, so I wanted to try it for myself. As a Korean American and a chef in fine dining here in nyc this place was very disappointing. Dining room lay out is not bad, my server was very nice and welcoming however the overall experience seemed lacking and felt like it needed some more fine tuning. I sat in a booth seat that I think was either attached to or touching another booth behind me. Twice a waitstaff member shifted my seat incidentally while cleaning as well as the later sat party in the same seat. This was annoying while eating. The food felt under seasoned and flashy without substance. The bread was cold and butter needed salt. Mala gambas was bizarre tasting. Potato rosti was underdone in the center. The king cut prime rib was solid. The temperature and tenderness 10/10. I think the jus could have been more powerful to compliment the beef but that’s just my deep personal opinion I can see other people being extremely pleased with it. The rest of the steak choices look worth trying but I don’t feel strongly about returning here again.

We came for a bday (Sunday at 6:30pm with reservations) and they comp the bread for us. We ordered a classic Old Fashioned, NY strip, Filet mignon, Bibimbap, the Kimchi fried rice, 3 oz Wagyu and French fries. The sauce in the bibibamp was overwhelming and I couldn't finish it, it was too heavy and salty. They were actually pretty late bringing this out for us, we were basically done with most our meal and we had to ask twice if the food was coming. A lot of their cocktails were milk based and wasn't appealing for us so we ordered a classic Old fashioned. Our Wagyu had a vein in it and was one of the bad cuts of meat. I guess that's what happens when you don't order the full Striploin. The Kimchi fried rice was probably my favorite, good spice level and the Wagyu in it was a nice touch. It was a good thing the waitress asked us if we wanted it as a starter instead because the food took a long time to come out. The portions for the "Share" dishes are small. They are about half the size of a dish you would find at Ktown. They were a little slow with filling our water glasses and each time they did, they only filled it half way. It was a little annoying considering the food is very rich and hearty. My husband couldn't taste the difference with the dry aged steak, there was no "funk" in it. Our waitress was really nice but had a habit of suggesting things and then remembering that they were sold out. Just overall a little disappointed with our experience.

It was ok. I expected for the food to taste more fine dining. I love seasoning but a lot of it was high in salt. The wine selection and customer service was top notch. I enjoyed the ambiance the most. Very intimate and fancy.

We came here for restaurant week looking forward to it based on some reviews. It was suppose to be 60 per person based on website/Open table, we arrived and they kind of rugged pulled saying not offered on the day we went which was a Saturday. No where did they say this. I understand if it’s a budgeting constraint and it’s not good for business to promote it on their busiest day but a heads up would have been nice so not a great start. Anyways we order New York strip, bimbambap, and the the skirt steak. The New York strip was cooked well and well seasoned I’d recommend that, the skirt steak had a nice crust but it was really rare in the middle and undercooked despite it had good flavor. It been great if they bought all the food together because they seem to have forgotten the bimbambap order and we were halfway done with the steak they said they bring over and we checked with staff too. It was disappointing when we got it too because it was too salty and a little burnt for a bimbim bap. Overall for the steak it’s good but I wouldn’t say this is worth the trip for the service

Came here for a birthday dinner and honestly left a bit underwhelmed. The service started off pretty indifferent — maybe because it was Restaurant Week? Interestingly, our server’s attitude changed once we ordered from the regular (non-Restaurant Week) menu, which didn’t go unnoticed. We had the Hwe Muchim to start, and it really missed the mark. Instead of the bold, spicy Korean sashimi salad you’d expect, we got five thin slices of Hamachi with some fancy sauce. Nice presentation, but that’s about it. The Galbi had a solid marinade, but more than half the pieces were burnt to the point of being inedible. The bone-in ribeye was decent, but nothing I’d go out of my way to recommend. The crème corn was probably the most enjoyable part — basically a more refined, creamier version of Korean ‘corn cheese’. Tasty for sure, but at $12, it’s hard to justify. If you’re looking for an upscale take on Korean steakhouse and don’t mind paying for the experience(which was virtually none anyhow), you might like it here.

I went to GUI Steakhouse for Valentine’s Day weekend and honestly wasn’t impressed. Prices are steakhouse level but the service and execution didn’t match. They were out of several steak options, so we ended up getting the galbi. It came out literally mooing and had to be sent back. We also tried the wagyu fried rice, mala gambas, and doenjang jigae. The fried rice was very greasy and mushy, though the flavor was decent. The mala gambas were cooked well but needed salt. The best dish was actually the doenjang jigae, which says a lot for a steakhouse. Overall, probably wouldn’t return

We came here for our anniversary dinner and had a generally good time. One of the highlights of the restaurant is how spacious and comfortable the space is — it felt relaxing and not overly crowded, which we appreciated. Food-wise, it was just above average. I really enjoyed the seafood sauce — it was flavorful — but I wasn’t a fan of the steak sauce. It felt a bit too simple and underwhelming, especially considering the price point. We also ended up waiting quite a while for our food, which was a bit disappointing. One major downside was the restroom situation. The one I first went into had used toilet paper scattered on the floor and was very wet, which is not what you’d expect from a higher-end restaurant. I tried switching to another restroom, but unfortunately, it wasn’t any better. Despite a few hiccups, we still had a lovely time celebrating together. The ambiance definitely helped make the night feel special, even if the experience wasn’t perfect.

the food was good, but not as exceptional as i was hoping for. the brioche on the menu already comes for free as a bread starter. the tuna was good, like a spicy tuna mixture, but we ran out of toasted bread basically two bites into the tuna. the galbi dumplings were disappointing. they come with a gyoza crust but are just two sausage shaped dumplings. the flavor wasn’t that interesting. the prime rib was fine. just basic, something you can get at every steakhouse. it was well cooked though. the galbi was a bit overcooked the soondubu was not good. basically flavorless. the paris jeju dessert had stale bread. it didn’t taste like tangerine at all, just cream.

I recently visited GUi Steakhouse in Times Square and left feeling pretty underwhelmed. For a place in such a high-traffic, high-profile location, I expected a lot more. The food was mediocre at best—nothing terrible, but definitely not memorable or worth the price point. Flavors felt flat, and the dishes didn’t have the quality or attention to detail you’d hope for from a steakhouse. We ordered the prime rib, the prime rib shavings on a roll, and the gui burger. The prime rib itself was bland on its own, but their gravy for it made up the lack of flavor. The burger was nice, nothing special. Service was also disappointingly slow. Despite the restaurant not being exceptionally busy, it took far too long to get our meals, and even simple requests seemed to lag. The staff was polite, but the overall pace made the experience drag. The bread after ordering took over 20 minutes to arrive. The food took another 40. With so many great dining options in the area, GUi Steakhouse just doesn’t stand out. I’d recommend looking elsewhere if you’re hoping for a satisfying meal or a smooth dining experience in Times Square.

I made a reservation for 3 on OpenTable to celebrate a belated birthday for my friend and her partner. I wanted something new and under-the-radar, so after a bit of research I landed on GUI, a fairly new Korean-inspired steakhouse conveniently located right off the 49th St station. The staff reached out ahead of time to ask about allergies and even confirmed again in person when I arrived, which was a great first impression and definitely a green flag. It was a rainy Sunday, and since they open at 4 PM, I showed up a bit early (20 mins early) to grab a drink at the bar during happy hour. The bartenders were friendly and quick with a menu, and my Arnold Palmer was refreshing. I had my eye on the oysters but learned there’s a 6-piece minimum (fair enough). The space itself is beautiful and I especially loved the traditional Korean mother-of-pearl decor touches that made it feel both modern and elevated. Once my friends arrived, things got a little less smooth. Even though our reservation was for 4 PM, we weren’t seated until around 4:30 PM. The staff seemed a bit disorganized—there were a few broken plates downstairs and a lot of movement without clear communication. Once seated, we were asked about water (tap/sparkling/bottled) twice by different servers, and it became clear that there wasn’t a dedicated waiter for our table. I also had to ask three times for a Sprite or ginger ale before it finally came out- small details, but noticeable when you’re trying to enjoy a nice dinner. We ordered a good mix of dishes: crab cake, porterhouse, tomahawk, wagyu kimchi fried rice, carrots, eggplant tempura, and a side of chimichurri. The standout for me was the porterhouse which was tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The tomahawk looked impressive but didn’t quite deliver in flavor or texture compared to the porterhouse. I had also noted in the reservation that part of the steak should be cooked medium since the birthday girl is pregnant, and while I appreciated them accommodating that, it ended up way overcooked… tough and dry, unfortunately. Sides and apps were mostly wins: the crab cake, kimchi fried rice, and carrots were delicious, while I’d skip the chimichurri next time… the in-house steak sauce with salt and pepper was more than enough. For dessert, we tried the earl grey ice cream and the dragon fruit sorbet. The sorbet had an added coconut and lemongrass twist, which sounded interesting but gave off a strange aftertaste that none of us loved. The crumb and wafer at the bottom, though, were a nice touch. One small letdown: since it was a birthday dinner, I noted it on the reservation (and they even printed it on our menus), but no candle came with dessert. The waiter realized afterward and offered to bring one, but by then, we’d already finished…a small miss, but a miss nonetheless. Overall, GUI has great potential as the food was solid and the ambiance stunning, but the service still feels like it’s finding its rhythm. I’d come back for the porterhouse and fried rice alone, but I hope by then, the team’s a bit more coordinated to match the level of the food and atmosphere.

While the food was slightly better than that of an average steakhouse, the service was embarrassing and left a poor impression. Numerous waiters were running around and appeared highly disorganized. Our bottle of wine took about 20 minutes to arrive, followed by nearly another 10 minutes before our wine glasses were replaced and the bottle opened. Surrounding tables that arrived after us were promptly served multiple portions of bread. While we hadn’t specifically requested it, it should have been offered early on without us having to ask. All of our main courses were served except mine, which arrived nearly five minutes later and cold. It was awkward having to flag someone down to ask if my order had been forgotten. The steak’s flavor and sides were fine, but the overall experience fell far short of expectations—especially at $230 for a 45 day aged steak. The dining room was filled with numerous groups of vest-wearing finance bros, and judging by the atmosphere, the place will do just fine without my business.

I’ve never written a restaurant review before, but felt compelled to do so after eating here. Felt like a complete bait and switch. They did not have the aged steaks that were on the menu. All they had to offer us were “ off menu options”, which the prices were higher than what was advertised on the menu. I’ve experienced this in other countries, but never here in the United States. Definite tourist trap. I get it, there’s inflation, but $18 for 8 Brussels sprouts? I guess they had a good publicist to get them in the New York Times. Pretty poor experience for $200 plus per person meal.

I visited this place today to celebrate my birthday and was so excited to try this new Korean restaurant. The staff were very friendly, and although the food came out a bit slowly, it was still okay. We were most excited about the katsu and prime rib. We ordered the small size, and out of 9 pieces, 4 were pretty fatty. The 2 pieces near the edge tasted especially bad — one was about 95% fat, and another was basically 100% fat. I tried a little but couldn’t finish, so they took away the leftovers. After that, I started to feel sick. I had some kimchi fried rice, but soon I felt nauseous, went to the restroom, and ended up throwing up.

Two reasons why I'm providing a negative review, but we'll start with the positives. Positive: 1. Location is right in times square. 2. Our server was incredibly friendly and overall good. Negative: 1. There's nothing innovative about the food. It's simply a steakhouse with other korean dishes on the menu. Nothing unique. Our steaks were about average for a place of this caliber. You're really paying for the location....not the food. 2. We had a problem with our wine. I don't know if the lady was a sommelier or just a server (as she never introduced herself to us - the sommelier always introduces themselves at high end steakhouses), but she opened the bottle away from our table and tasted the wine two times. The bottle should always be opened at the table! If the sommelier is going to taste the wine to check, they should absolutely ask the customer as we are the ones paying for it. This is absolutely unacceptable.

Our experience wasn’t as expected. Our drinks were extremely sweet, we didn’t finish them. Our first app was wonderful but took about 45 minutes to arrive. Service was extremely slow and inattentive throughout the dinner. My fiancée ordered his filet medium and it came out medium rare, they didn’t stay to ask if temped out properly for him. My steak was coated in a sugary glaze over a bed of barley risotto which I couldn’t stomach as well. The side heirloom carrots were also coated in a sugary glaze. Everything was far too sweet and lacked any acid or heat, making it inedible. We were never asked how we liked it and then brought the check. $350 for two people with tip was exorbitantly high for the quality of meal, and lack of service. Unfortunately we wish we had left after the bad drinks to start the evening.

I really wanted to give this place a good review. I was so excited when I saw they were on the Michelin watch list and eager for my meal after I left an event. My guest arrived before me as I was running late in midtown traffic and was seated however didn’t receive the option for water until I asked when we had already ordered cocktails. They then brought out a broken glass which we decided not to point out because we were too busy enoying each other’s company after years of not catching up. As we started trying to order additional items besides drinks we were told the kitchen was closed. As we weren’t informed of this before, the server was able to make something work with the kitchen where we were at least able to enjoy the delicious flank steak with its amazing Korean seasoning. The brioche bread also was a standout. Compliments to the chef, but HORRIBLE service I hope the team improves on. With so many options in this city, consistent, attentive service is table stakes. Had it not been so late, I would have asked for a manager. Hoping someone from the team checks these reviews and takes the feedback as a gift. I sadly will not be going back…

I had high expectations for GUI Steakhouse, but the experience was deeply disappointing. It is frankly embarrassing for a restaurant with a Michelin reputation to provide this level of service—especially considering the restaurant wasn't even busy during our visit. The lack of basic attention to detail was staggering: • Repeated Food Errors: We ordered the Purple Savory Clams, but the order was forgotten entirely. When they tried to correct the mistake, they brought out Razor Clams—still the wrong dish. • Drink Failures: We ordered a Diet Coke and a Half & Half Iced Tea. They brought a regular Coke and forgot the tea. After being reminded, they brought the wrong tea again. • Poor Timing: Because of these constant lapses, both the clams and the tea didn't arrive until the very end of our dinner. It is unacceptable to have your side dishes and beverages arrive as an "afterthought" once the meal is over because the staff cannot track a simple order. In a quiet dining room, there is no excuse for such uncoordinated service. I expected a Michelin-caliber experience, but what we received was amateur at best.

We were really disappointed with our experience at GUI Steakhouse. The food was not prepared as requested, and out of the four cuts of steak we ordered—from the bone-in to the tomahawk—none of them came out correctly. The menu clearly advertised 45-day dry-aged steaks at a specific price, but our waiter informed us after ordering that they had none available. Instead, they were pushing 25–28 day dry-aged steaks at a higher price than what was listed on the menu. We were never informed of this before ordering, which felt misleading. After spending over $1,000 on dinner, we expected a far better level of quality, transparency, and service. This experience fell far short of what a steakhouse of this caliber should deliver.

Unfortunately, while I really love Chef Shim’s Kochi, I feel strongly our experience at Gui missed the mark. I would strongly inform anyone considering dining here to reconsider especially for a nice occasion. Total bill was $200+ per person, and everyone left hungry. First, the service was disappointing. The welcome was nice but the service afterwards was not good. Some examples of mishaps: -one waitress constantly strongly bumped multiple guests in order to clear the table. One guest felt he was constantly getting rude glances from her -waters were unfilled or left half filled -tea that was ordered arrived very late (20+ minutes) -multiple periods of time where wait staff was missing from our table, it seemed it was too busy. Could not order a drink for a long time. One guest decided not to order a drink because of the wait -the waiter was helpful ordering food however did not feel his recommendations were accurate. We did not order enough food for the party unfortunately and had to continue to order additional food multiple times -did not communicate the price of the steak specials we ordered which were surprising at the end -the steak/sides took very long to arrive after the appetizers -the kimchi fried rice did not arrive until well after the steak/sides and needed to remind the wait staff that it was ordered -milk/cream was not offered for coffee In terms of food, the steak and drinks were truly excellent but many other things fell flat. -the pomme purree was extremely salty and not very palatable -the Brussels sprouts were anemic and very underwhelming (see picture) -the fried rice portions were very small, the texture was soft and not very good. -overall all portions were very small, the $24 Caesar salad was particularly egregious. For $230 of appetizers and sides leaving hungry was dissatisfying Overall, the service and quality of the meal was not par to the high price paid and at times very disappointing. I generally avoid leaving public negative reviews but tried emailing feedback to the restaurant with no response.
