I had only passed by before, but finally stopped in for dinner on a weekday afternoon. It was impressive to see the handmade pasta being prepared right in front of us. With both table and bar seating, it also feels like a good place to come alone. I ordered the Puttanesca and a glass of white wine, the portion was generous enough that I couldn’t finish and had to take the rest to go. The noodles were a bit thicker than I usually prefer, but overall I really enjoyed the meal.

Wonderful food after hitting the NYC with 2 kids we needed a great homemade meal. The service was friendly and the kids loved the swing benches :) We were cold and starving , fresh homemade pasta hit the spot. Lovely atmosphere, sweet staff with a great sense of humor:)

Went in expecting a good meal, but boy were we blown away! Each pasta was flavorful & bold. The Cacio a Pepe was one of the bests I’ve had. The service— incredible! Marco is an absolute gem! If the food had been mids we would come back for him alone. TY NY 💘💘

I just had a fantastic dining experience with my husband and our adult daughter at Maestro! Alessandro and his team are terrific - they all made us feel so welcome. The food is delicious - we could see our pastas cut just before serving (which is special and unique) and exactly as we requested. The portions are generous and the wines were great. The atmosphere is great - beautifully decorated with an energetic feel yet still easy to talk and hear just our table. We loved Maestro so much that we are now planning some private parties there. Maestro Pasta is a true gem!

We were in New York for two days and decided to visit this restaurant. Everything was very delicious. The atmosphere was very pleasant, and the service was excellent. Even though we were a large group, everything was well organized and attentive. The owner personally took great care of us, which made the whole experience feel warm and welcoming, like home. We really enjoyed our visit and would definitely come back.

My son and I walked into Maestro Pasta for a quick bite with no expectations and we were very pleasantly surprised when we were promptly seated at the bar and taken care of in a warm friendly atmosphere like we eat there every night. The surprise of this restaurant is that it is in a very touristy neighborhood, yet it has the feeling like a restaurant you could eat at regularly and always be satisfied/delighted with your food. We had such a nice experience. The menu was full of pleasant surprises and yummy choices. The service was friendly, available, pleasant, and proud of the beautiful food that they were making and serving. I look forward to going back and taking my GF, starting with the artichoke appetizer as a nice prelude to the homemade pasta.

Now, know New York is Noisy, and around new years it is mega crowded in the area, but that comes with living here! Only consider this apt if you nice, I only want nice neighbors! Cheers

He had to determine what was wrong with my microwave (it was complicated but he let me know what the issue was), replaced my microwave with a temporary one and came back today with a new one. I will start with the price, no other rental building in the area, is charging as low prices as Avalon midtown. Not the Marc, Ritz, or Tower 67, not to mention that the size is much bigger in Avalon than any equivalent apartment in other rental high class buildings. I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly and attentive attitude that I received from any staff members of the building. Even when I just came to view some apartments in the building. Especially the doormen, and the leasing office. Deandra, Eric, Rodney, Billy and the rest. Great guys. Any maintenance issue that needed to fix, were fixed on the same day of my written requests, with great and friendly staff. Yes, it is noisy for apartments facing the Avenue, but this is midtown, with all the great advantages. However once windows are shut, it is completely quit. People who are extra sensitive to sound, should look for units higher and away from noisy Avenues. I highly recommend living in Avalon Midwest. superior to many other rental buildings.

I took a chance and went to the SC this evening (7/29/2025) to see if anyone on the Avalon maintenance staff was available. The tires on my recovery knee-scooter were flat, and I was lucky enough to run into Tenzin right off the elevator. Without any warning I was coming, he agreed to inflate the tires on the spot. He stopped whatever he was doing, took my scooter to the back with my adapter, and returned my scooter in minutes with fully inflated tires! Sow is amazing. Our bathroom mirrors fell and shattered. As soon as I submitted the ticket, he fixed both the broken mirror and the towel rack. He even fixed the two light bulbs and cleaned the entire mirror. I can’t thank him enough.

We visited New York in March 2025 and stayed at Avalon West. We liked the apartment very much due to its location in the downtown of Manhattan. All the needed facilities are right at the corner - Times Square, subway station, restaurants and cafes, easy to reach. Central Park is nearby and within walking distance in north direction from the Avalon West. The room was medium-sized with one queen size bed and a wardrobe. There is a kitchen where one can cook. The fridge was full of snacks and drinks. Nice small bathroom. The room itself was always clean, due to the hostess did regular cleaning while we were out. I'd strongly recommend this location in the centre of NY.

Daniel was consistently reliable and responsive, always calling and instantly replying via email. He never wasted any time and was always available whenever we needed assistance. His friendly and professional demeanor made the entire process stress-free and efficient. Thanks to Daniel and the entire team at Avalon at Midtown West, my move-in experience was outstanding. I highly recommend this community to anyone looking for a hassle-free leasing experience.

This building and its staff is my favorite building in Manhattan. I lived here for a very long time (back when it changed from “The Gershwin” to “Archstone” and then to “The Avalon”). I moved out when my mom passed away as life threw some difficult changes my way. The building has always been like family to me, especially Rudy the legendary doorman/concierge, Michael the concierge, Andrew, and Billy at the front desk. I lived through several different building managers and absolutely loved working with Ayanna, who was always so kind and understanding—as was the entire staff. I moved away for a few years and then missed it so badly, I moved back! I was so happy to see that Rudy, Mike, Andrew, Billy, Ayanna (manager), Danielle (leasing), Elizabeth (management office) were still there. Chrishaun is a new leasing agent who I absolutely adore! Wonderfully kind and helpful! The pictures attached are of the views from my living room. It’s a stunning building with very high-end renovations in some apartments. The “classic” apartments have new floors but the original Resnick & Sons Gershwin/Archstone appliances (white appliances and countertops). Renovation package #2 has new bathrooms, new floors, new appliances and LED lighting. The bedrooms have new blackout blinds (huge improvement from old blinds as you get a TON of light on high floors). The Premiere renovation package is gorgeous. The only singular negative issue that I saw before my last move out and during my new time here is the occasional inconsistency of the 5 high-speed elevators. I hope that AvalonBay will take seriously the real concerns that residents continue to have. When all 5 are working, it’s laser fast to get from a 40th floor apartment to the lobby. When things go bad with the elevators, there are lines to the front door and general misery. This isn’t an Avalon-only problem. Lots of big buildings in NYC have elevator issues. I would suggest that management have a proactive email system to alert all residents of elevator issues so that they can plan accordingly. Other than that, I would give the complex 100 stars. In these odd times of Covid-19, it’s nice to feel like one is around “family,” even as we keep our distance. I love that the building is 100% non smoking. I love that the floors are extra strong modern reinforced concrete (no hearing stomping neighbors for me in any of the apartments I lived), and for the vast majority of the many years I’ve been there, the residents seem friendly and kind. The price differential for a high floor larger apartment, IMO, is very worth it. I was on a very high floor corner apartment for many years. Pin drop quiet. Then I was on the other end of the same floor in a corner apartment. Same level of quiet. Finally, a shoutout to the new maintenance staff. Jason (great name!) the maintenance manager is so fast, he responded within 30 minutes to some minor issues I had on move-in. Super friendly and very effective. Overall, I love the building and staff so much, I’d work for them if I wasn’t already working crazy hours!

Fried Artichoke hearts was a great starter and the garlic aioli was great. Tiramisu was surprisingly dry but not the worst, not enough coffee flavor. Tartufo with fettuccine was the best pasta dish, Anolini Pasticciati filling was flavorless but the sauce was good. Tartufo focaccia was super filling and tasted great but it was really heavy, I didn’t expect so much cheese and sauce. Atmosphere was amazing, food was good, service was all right.

Maestro Pasta is such a cute place. Very small with moderately limited seating, but I was able to walk right in and get a table for 2 at 7pm on a Saturday with no wait. It was so neat to see the pasta being made right in front of you, and the atmosphere is so great. The service was amazing, VERY quick to deliver the meal and drinks, and very friendly. I got an espresso martini which was very delicious (just note, it is more on the expensive side, almost the same price as my meal) but it was amazing. Unfortunately, I felt like my food (Bolognese with fettuccine noodles) was lacking. The portion size was great, definitely MORE than enough food for me (enough for 2 meals), but the taste was not was I was expecting. It was quite bland and underwhelming compared to the environment. Overall, this was a good place to visit and I had a good experience, I just wish my food was a bit more flavorful.

We were hungry and thirsty while walking down this street, and decided to eat here. Definitely worth it. They hand made their pasta in front of our eyes, and the sauces were creamy, flavorful, and great portions as well. The place is small, but looked like you stepped into a little bit of Italy. Waiters were incredibly friendly and nice, and served with efficiency. Would come here again, definitely worth it.

Honest review of our year here: 1. On the very FIRST day of move-in, we found a dead cockroach in the kitchen, droppings in the cupboard and dishwasher, and a live one in the bathroom. In the first three weeks, we had pest control over three times due to weekly roach appearances. When we asked the first time, they said they were treating 4 other homes in the building that same day, so it appears roach infestation is rather common in the building. Indeed, we saw another cockroach crawl up our bathroom sink later in the lease. 2. Miscellaneous break-downs in the first month of moving in included: kitchen sink handle not working (water wouldn’t come out), a/c in the living room leaking water, a/c in the bedroom not emitting cold air (there was a part that had to be updated), bathroom lights not turning on, certain communal washing/drying machines ruining our fabric or not working even after payment. All this happened just in the first month of moving in so we were unfortunately kept busy with fixing everything on top of settling down. 3. In the middle of the lease, the toilet overflowed, flooding our rooms and ruining furniture. Also, the kitchen sink water turned brown time to time. Thankfully maintenance is quick to address any issues, but by this point we’d become too weary of having to continuously raise issues that we just tried to live with whatever happened if we could. 4. On the bright side, the concierge team is very friendly :) Overall, we moved into a house that needed a lot of fixing rather a cozy home, that led to some monetary losses of ruined items. This was unexpected coming from another Avalon building that had been really great, which was why we chose this place. We have now moved away in hopes to find a cleaner, sturdier apartment and are very happy that we can finally use the dishwasher and laundry in peace. (We never used the dishwasher after finding the droppings on day 1.) Additionally, after the lease we were charged $150 supposedly for a broken item. There was no broken item when we left (we took a video to be sure) so we contacted the leasing office inquiring what was broken. We didn’t receive a reply for over a month until finally they said it was for cleaning purposes instead, although we spent three days scrubbing the apartment clean (the last photo is an example of “unclean” areas they charged us for). Not sure why they would charge us for that but think it was okay that we moved into cockroach droppings in the cupboards and dishwasher. But I’m happy to have moved out now.

The washing machines have noticeably gotten worse, the gym AC has been out for weeks, multiple elevators are constantly down, and the men's sauna has been out of service for months (sauna was a priority in our decision to live at Avalon). We really enjoy the doormen as they all provide great service and keep the building safe. They are the primary reason for not providing a lower score. *** Original Review - We’ve been living here for a couple months and I just wanted to say the maintenance staff and doormen are so accommodating, polite, and trustworthy. I recently had a maintenance request for my dishwasher and it was completed immediately by Paul Martinez. While I was at work, he called me to make sure he was allowed in the apt, wore shoe covers, and handled my issue. By the time I came home the dishwasher was fixed. Paul went out of his way to make sure the dishwasher part that was broken was replaced asap. I really appreciate the staff here at Avalon.

I’ll start with the positive, the old concierge stuff is amazing as well as the regular post lady! I’m super happy with their service! And I give them a money gift every Christmas to thank them. But there are negative things about the building, I have been living in this building for 4 years+ and there is never been a single day when 5 elevators worked. The management makes excuses every year but nothing is changed. Therefore around 6-7pm there is a huge line of residents trying to get home, see the picture. But the biggest issue is that the current tenants that pay on time are being charged for the new year lease more than the new tenants! Though if you are cute blonde and young you can negotiate the better rent with the manager which is totally a discrimination! Residents are forced to pay for an expensive internet service which doesn’t work perfectly all the time, where there are cheaper options out there Residents are forced to pay for the common area compare that other buildings like The Marc it’s optional. Even if you pay monthly fee for the residents area you will be still charged extra if you do a residents only event, $150 per hour. 3 hours minimum. In the same time non residents don’t pay anything to do for example wine tasting! The old management was much more residents friendly than the current one! Also weird things found on the terrace that myself and my friends residents didn’t feel safe when we were enjoying the terrace, see attachment

Disappointed with the Service Quality I recently visited Avalon Midtown West to gather details for interior design after signing my lease for an apartment I had viewed just five days earlier. Unfortunately, the service from the staff fell far below expectations for a building in this price range. Starting at the front desk, there was no greeting or sense of welcome. The staff spoke in a way that felt reluctant and unhelpful. I was directed to the Leasing Office, where I was unexpectedly told I could not view the apartment because it was “occupied,” even though I had just toured the exact unit days before. Despite explaining the situation, they didn’t believe me until a manager intervened, apologized for the confusion, and finally escorted me upstairs. What surprised me further was that at no point did anyone offer to show me the building’s amenities, explain the house rules, or provide a proper orientation—something I would expect from a property marketed and priced as a luxury apartment. I have lived in other luxury buildings with similar rent, and the difference in service and amenities is striking. In my previous building, staff treated residents with respect, provided attentive service, and even offered in-unit package delivery. The apartment itself included larger appliances like a full-size refrigerator and in-unit washer and dryer—all at a comparable rent. At Avalon Midtown West, not only are the amenities fewer, but the staff’s lack of professionalism and willingness to assist makes the experience even more disappointing. Considering there is also a $100 monthly amenity fee, the current level of service is well below standard. I strongly urge the management team to improve the professionalism and customer service of the staff. For a building that positions itself as a luxury residence, the quality of service should reflect the price and reputation.
