Popped in for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Food was amazing service was good. Although we were the only ones in the restaurant I am.sure it is a hit with the locals. We had a few appetisers dim sum, summer rolls, spring rolls, salt n pepper squid and pork buns. We will be back
Ordered the chicken pad thai and it was one of the best I've ever had. The portion was large and could easily be shared between two people. The staff was very attentive and food came out quick during dinner service.
An'nam Vietnamese Cuisine is a diamond in midtown Manhattan. It was my first time here. The food quality was superb and the portions were great. We had the lunch special since we were there during the lunch hour. The Chicken with Lemongrass and the Shrimp Sate Sauce were awesome, and the vegetable were stir fried perfectly---tender and crunchy. The restaurant is clean, well kept and the service is great. I recommend it to anybody who wants to have a great dining experience at a reasonable price. I plan to go there very time I am in NYC. Please visit this place so it remains in business and everyone can enjoy its excellent cuisine.
My favorite place to grab a meal before or after a Broadway show. Excellent location that's close to several theaters. The food always comes out quickly, and is delicious. Wait staff is friendly and attentive. (And I happen to love the 90s music that's always playing!) Although we've called ahead to make reservations sometimes, we often get seated right away even without them.
We had the lunch sushi special. Everything was great. Service was wonderful.
Service was wonderful. The fried rice dish was savory and delicious and the soup dumplings were the very best I've had. Fantastic prices for top notch cuisine. Also nice happy hour drink specials.
I’m sorry I didn’t take pictures but food, prices, customers service and atmosphere were Excellent!
This is a Vietnamese and Japanese fusion eatery that let's you order from both cuisines. It is located next to the Gallivant hotel that it's connected to and is in a busy area so it can get packed fast. The service is phenomenal and so are all the dishes I've tried from both the Japanese and Vietnamese menus
Such a great spot for before a show. The pho was delicious, and service was great. They got us in and out in 45 min because we were running late for our show. And where else can you get a $7 glass of wine in Manhattan?!
1. Good taste 2. Reasonable price ( starting around $12 big portions) 3. Serving liquor too 4. Nice service and atmosphere You should give it a try!!
Quick pit stop before a show next door. We only had cheesecake and Vietnamese iced coffee. The service was great! The cheesecake was good but it's for the iced coffee that I would return again and again if I was a local! So, so good! Strong yet smooth and just the right amount of sweetness. Highly recommend it!
The sushi is fantastic, very flavorful and cheap for the lunch menu. The drinks are well made. The service is fantastic. They explain the drinks and each dish on the menu to you. Super quick turnaround. Highly recommend.
Food is good, portion is generous.service is with passion and in-time. Location is close to theater.
Probably the best General Taos Chicken in the city! And I have tried a lot of places. Great quality chicken meat. Great flavor. Perfect breading. It’s unbelievable. They also have great tuna rolls as well. I love coming here when I am in midtown and free to get a meal
Was not expecting to stop here with so many dining options in NYC but ended up being one of the best meals we had all trip
We've been going to An’nam every year after watching the lights on 5th av and the tree in Rockfeller center. The food and drinks have always been excellent!!!
An’nam was wonderful accommodating our large party while celebrating a few family birthdays. The service was great, and we really appreciated being able to pre-order food, which made the evening run smoothly. The dishes were very flavorful, though some portions are on the smaller side—we ordered about 25 dishes for 16 people and didn’t leave overly full. Overall, it’s a great spot for a flavorful pre-show dinner with a group.
Outstanding Food – Slow Service but Worth It The food here was insanely good. We ordered a variety of appetizers and dim sum, and every single dish was a hit. The grilled shrimp was so perfectly seasoned and flavorful that we ended up ordering a second round. The shrimp and pork dumplings were soft, delicate, and packed with flavor. The Vietnamese fried spring rolls were incredible—I could’ve eaten a whole plate of them myself. The spicy shrimp wontons and pork dumplings were equally delicious, and the cucumber dish was fresh and perfectly balanced. Honestly, I could’ve kept eating until I burst. The only downside was the slow service. The servers were friendly but didn’t check in often, so our table got cluttered between courses. Also, the cocktails were just okay—not bad, but nothing memorable. That said, the restaurant was spotless, including the bathrooms, which were immaculate. It’s not the most visually striking place, but it’s modern, clean, and absolutely worth it for the food alone. I’d come back in a heartbeat just for another round of those shrimp and dumplings. The food was so good in fact that I wasn’t able to get any pictures of it cause we were too busy eating all of it !
Visited NYC for the day and knew we wanted sushi, but didn't want to go overboard (we're creatures of habit). If you're looking for your "usual" sushi, which we were, this is the place to go. Simple, but elegant and delicious! We started with the Dim Sum Platter - delicious. Our main was the sushi and shashimi for 2 - tasted so fresh and the presentation was beautiful! Our server, and other staff we interacted with, were so nice - they even took our pic with our food! The prices were VERY reasonable, espeically for so close to Times Square (we got 2 cocktails, 2 sodas, the app and dinner - paid around $150 plus tip) Would definitely recommend!
I’ve tried several dishes here, and everything has been excellent! The menu offers a great variety, so there’s something for everyone. During my last visit, I had the Bento box, and I highly recommend the chicken katsu—it was absolutely delicious. The staff is also super friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better.
If you're looking for Vietnamese cuisine and craving for Pho, this is the place to go. We tried this restaurant on a Saturday evening and it was a great experience. Finding a table was easy. The ambiance is cozy, and tables maintain hygiene standards. Staff here is very attentive and understands what you're looking for. We tried some starters, Pho, and some cocktails. Orders were served without much delay. Their menu is rich and ample options to make you visit again. What deserves a special mention? The attendants helped us select the perfect bowl of Pho we were looking for. What could be improved? Nothing, they are doing the right thing, and I would definitely visit again.
We got the tip to go there from the lady selling the tickets for the Stand Up Comedy (Comedy Central) on Times Square (CBS News / the Paramount building). She said that the food was so good and it looked as if angels had prepared the meals. Moreover, she said that prices were reasonable and the lunch deals were even cheaper. What can I say? EVERYTHING she said is true!!! Lunch deals start at 12,95$ and you can get them until 4 PM (we got there at 3:30 PM). We are talking FRESH VEGGIES here not frozen veggies. There is even a Happy Hour for drinks until 7 PM (e.g. a bottle of beer for 5$). But most important: THE FOOD IS JUST GREAT! We had three Lunch Deals and a Kitchen Benton Lunch. Even though we actually did not want a dessert, we still had it and - no surprise here either - it was also great. Such a place just around the corner from Times Square sounds unreal? Yes, it does! But it's real for sure. We know, now you know, too. Have a look at the photos. And don't forget to go there a.s.a.p. Might be overcrowded soon 😉
I order from here 2-3 times a week and eat in person occasionally. I’ve always found their portions and prices large and inexpensive compared to similar nearby restaurants. Their lunch specials are top-tier meals too at unbeatable prices; I recommend the Szechuan fish fillet for those who want to try authentic mouthwatering seasoning. Their Vietnamese pho (original flavor), abalone congee, and sushi (I get one of the 3-choice combos) is of really good quality. Also, they do a really good job of packaging to-go meals and making sure you have everything you need to eat (food, utensils, napkins, sauces). They finish orders quickly quickly, so if you’re nearby it’s a lot faster to just pick up your order rather than get it delivered. They serve sushi, Vietnamese food, and Chinese food. Also, the restaurant is beautifully furnished and spacious. Pictured: sushi combo, Szechuan fish fillet lunch special, duck/shiitake noodle soup, crab-pork soup dumplings (massive, already ate 2).
I read some review about cultural misappropriation at this place and I had to slap myself. This place is legit, I used to go here 1-2x a week for several years (for good reason), and even though it’s been through many changes it still delivers. The food is so damn tasty, everything is soo good, no complaints here. The service is exceptionally fast so you can sit down, get your food, your check, and be on your way if you’re in a rush, or sit n savor the delectable dishes. Some of my favorites are in the photos below, but there’s many more on the menu to try.
This is a Vietnamese & Japanese Fusion Restaurant. I usually don't eat at Vietnamese Fusion Restaurant because I always had bad experience with the foods due to authenticity and taste. However, this restaurant is the first one ever I actually enjoyed. Sushi rolls are great just like a typical Japanese restaurant. The grilled beef is very tasty! Fried calamari is crispy and goes well with the mango dipping sauce. Lemonade soda is great after the meal for digestion.
Great experience here - service was excellent and the waiters carefully handled any requests we had from our party. Food was great as well - eclectic mix of Japanese, Thai, and Vietnamese so I was able to have many different cuisines and drinks in one meal. The meat dishes were all above average, large pho portions, and good drinks. Would recommend.
Great date night spot. I'm not too big on sushi but my husband is and he brought me here for a surprise date night. He's a regular here as well because he works nearby. I was very pleased with the selection, and yes, I tried a roll. I had the Zelda while he also had the Zelda, lobster and dragon rolls. I also ordered shrimp pad Thai. Food is DELICIOUS!! The sangria however, isn't the best I had but it wasn't bad. The amount of food and drink you get will fill you up. You will be satisfied. Thanks to our server and the manager for their wonderful hospitality and for our lovely dessert.
Ate with a group of 5 on a Saturday night so was pretty crowded. I had a "cup" of the wonton soup which was more like a bowl at $9. The bowl is huge, like a large salad bowl. It was delicious as was the premium sushi roll. Everyone enjoyed their food immensely. They all had the bowl of wonton with noodle
Wish I could give a 4.5 stars! The food was amazing and came out VERY fast. It was hot, delicious and fairly priced! I requested jalapeños and they brought a small dish out filled with jalapeños, at no extra charge. It vastly improved my meal of vegetable pad Thai, as I LOVE spicy food. My only qualm is that I felt a bit rushed out, as if they were just trying to get us out of the restaurant quickly. I felt rushed, but it was very good service otherwise and very, very fair prices. One of the cheapest, yet most delicious places in NYC. Very highly recommended!
Food was fresh, we ordered a couple of appetizers, they were tasty but on the small size. The main dishes were a good portion and tasty, the Thai dishes flavours were not that authentic.
I was craving Unagi so I ordered the dragon roll. To my surprise per the host " In NYC, the dragon roll is wrapped with avocado not Unagi" so he suggested to try the Junagi, which is Unagi on top of bowl of rice with seaweed. Overall, the staff was very nice and helpful, the food was delicious! If we're in the area we would definitely return!
While the decor is nothing special, the food and service were wonderful. The sushi rolls were quite tasty (especially the Red Dragon roll). The Yang Chow fried rice was full of flavor and various proteins--one of the best versions I've had in years. Loved the eel on rice, too.
Read on for the four main points rated out of 5 Atmosphere - 4 Interior decor is modern, ambient lighting help set a relaxed mood and a banging soundtrack sets the tone for a good meal Service - 4 Staff were helpful, friendly and quick to recommend good dishes. Service was quick and done efficiently even with a reasonably busy restaurant. Food - 4 I am always sceptical of Japanese cuisine if not in Japan however the menu of Japanese and Vietnamese food proved varied and tasty. Bordering unhealthy portion sizes helped make sure you didn't leave the table hungry! Cost - 4 Not overly expensive, not dirt cheap, a happy balance for a very worth it experience. 16/20 worth a go!
Good restaurant for the price and ambience. Was definitely amazed by the décor as soon as we walked in. The staff was very attentive as well. Ordered Pho and Chicken in Lemongrass which came out nicely. The Chicken definitely could have had more flavor. Pho tasted as expected. Also ordered a White Tuna Sashimi which was perfect.
Solid food - though our spicy wontons tasted like franks red hot sauce, awkward staff, and the crowd was a mess with plates breaking and issues galore. That being said it is right off times square and it isn't horrifically overpriced. Salt and peppery squid was tasty, beef pho was great, shrimp vermicelli was also good.
When it comes to this type of food I have to admit that I was skeptical when my friend told me we were going to these place. The reason is because I never had Vietnamese food before and I had no idea what kind of cuisine is it or what type of ingredients they use to prepare their dishes. But like the food enthusiastic I am; I decided to give it a try and I was impressed. The restaurant is for everyone. you can come here with kids. The Menu is amazingly long because of the variety of dishes that they offer. something that I like about this place is that even though is Vietnamese food; they also offer other dishes that are not typical from the Vietnamese cuisine like: sushi, rice, soups, salads.
They had a really great atmosphere. Very clean restaurant with an attentive staff. I really just wasn't impressed with the Pho. The broth just lacked the flavor that makes Pho so amazing. Also it's the first time I've ever had it served with lemon, which is a far cry from the flavor of lime that every one else serves it with. The drink glasses were pretty cool though.
Service was incredibly slow. I went around 4:45pm on a Sunday afternoon, restaurant wasn't that crowded, no wait, but it took almost 20 minutes before a waiter even came to my table to take my order. I was about to walk out, that's how long it took. BUT once I ordered, food came incredibly fast and was incredibly delicious! If you aren't in a rush, I would say check this place out or sure. But if you're on a time crunch for a Broadway show, be weary.
More of a pan asian restaurant than a Vietnamese. They serve sushi rolls, sashimi, udon soup, and chinese dishes. I never like pan asian because i think they never make any dish well. I ordered beef pho and i was correct. I usually like a clear broth and this was not. The shrimp dumplings were good. The dough was a bit gooey? The lychee martini was fine.
I had the woo woo drink which was very sweet but really good, and I also had the BBQ pork buns, which could've used more BBQ pork, but the flavor was good. The monkey roll offered a combo I've never had before qith the mango, but it worked. Then I got sick. I'm not sure what it was that made me sick, but I won't be returning.
Rating 3.5 stars. Not bad for an ASIAN FUSION restaurant. There are almost NO Vietnamese dishes so calling it a Vietnamese restaurant is very misleading! I generally try to stay away from Asian fusion restaurants because they often aren't that good. This was pretty decent. The Crispy Rice Spicy Tuna appetizer took 15 minutes (they warned us when we ordered) but was worth the wait. The beef pad Thai wasn't very authentic but with plenty of big pieces of beef and veggies. Yang chow fried rice was bland and I would skip (did have lots of shrimp, roast pork, and ham though!). The Vietnamese iced coffee was weak. Clean single women/men bathrooms in the back.
Although the staff was friendly and attentive, the food could’ve been better. To be fair, I only tried an entree. That’s with a 3. The presentation is nice. The portions are shareable and the prices for the area is normal considering it is within steps from Times Square. It wasn’t too busy on a Sunday night. It’s a Vietnamese & Japanese fusion restaurant. Plenty of options for everyone. They have an extensive drink menu as well. Alcoholic drinks are less than average for the area, will have to try their specialty drink sometime. Soda refills are not free FYI.
It's conveniently located right outside the Walter Kerr theater that's why it's perfect meal after watching a show. We ordered a lot-- pad thai shrimp, spring rolls, salt and pepper calamari, pho, and choco lava cake. Portions are pretty good but taste is just okay. I would've loved try more of their japanese dishes next time. Service is also okay so overall okay too. They were also pretty attentive when we needed water refills and I appreciate that.
I like the decors and atmosphere at the restaurant. Service was decent, though the food isn’t the best and most authentic. Had some Dim Sum Appetizers and it was okay, but until my Udon Noodles came out, it was a disappointment… soup is tasteless, the noodles is overcooked, and the condiments have a weird smell and taste to it… Overall, wouldn’t come back here again. There are better places around the block…
We ordered typical Vietnamese dishes which we are fully aware of coming from Melbourne. They turned out Chinese versions oily with no flavour. We eat very little apart from the vegetables. I just hate wasting food. This was the worst meal we have had in NYC. We asked for the bill and l made it clear there would be no tip. We were offered another selection which we declined. If you are after Chinese food, this restaurant may be acceptable. I leave that decision to you.
By far worst place I've eaten with a large group in 5 visits to Manhattan. Left starving. 1 plate of rice for the table, half a pork chop each 1 spring roll and 1 tiny slice of pancake ... pre set menu with empty promises. Ignored by the manager and not even water for the table
I would give this restaurant negative if I could. I have had the worst pho ever. The broth was awful and meat was some thin slices of greasy beef. This restaurant has definitely nothing to do with Vietnamese food. My partner told me that his cashew chicken tastes Chinese food and it was bad too. Well, this restaurant is bigger and nicer than some another Asian restaurants I’ve been in New York but you go to restaurants to enjoy food don’t you?
I'm not sure if I had a meal or if it was just a big pile of salt. It doesn't matter if people are running an Asian-fusion restaurant, unless they say they are primarily a Vietnamese restaurant, and they do not serve any real Vietnamese dishes. They also claim to be Japanese and the quality of their dishes were seriously lacking. Naming a dish, "Vietnamese fried rice" or "Vietnamese Satay" does not make it Vietnamese. I reluctantly refer to the beef soup as Phở Bò, as it was likely from a prepackaged batch. They also threw around "Thai" or other countries onto the dish names. An'Nam also call themselves Japanese. I think the sushi Maki rolls were made in a press. The salmon had an oily and wet appearance, on the 2 different rolls I ordered. That's a pretty bad sign. The Toro was fine. The miso soup was really salty, as if they made it with seawater. They seem to have the idea that adding a lot of salt can mask poor quality. They did the same thing with the rock shrimp tempura. It was like that time in elementary school when I was dared to lick a rock of salt for God knows how long. I must have massively raised my blood pressure from this meal. An'Nam should call themselves "Asian-Fusion", but they certainly do not know how to cook Vietnamese and Japanese food. I'm just glad I didn't have any of their Thai dishes, out of fear of how they might screw that up too. There is the term, "cultural appropriation", which doesn't fit in this circumstance. I would call it "cultural misappropriation", because they are so bad at Asian-Fusion.
