Opinions de Da Marino New York
Service was amazing. The food was exquisitely made. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable on each menu item. We had one of the best New Years Eve dinners ever! The manager was extremely polite and even gave our son her new years hat. We live in Florida and this was our first time at your restaurant; however; when ever we return to New York we will always include your restaurant in our list of favorite places to visit and dine. Thank you for going way beyond to make our dining experience an enjoyable and memorable one.
This is one of my family's favorite places to dine when we are in NYC. They are friendly and the food is fantastic. They have a wonderful ambience that is perfect for a romantic date night or a memorable family evening. I recommend you make reservations. They serve classic Italian dishes. The food is amazing!
I used to like “Italian” food. At least I thought I did. Big family night? Go to the Olive Garden. Sigh. (Living in Southern California will do that). Then I spent two years of my Navy career working in Naples, Italy. Now when my family says they want Italian food, and my Daughter says “let’s go to Olive Garden,” I just shake my head. We have actually found a few very good Italian restaurants in the Southern California area, but none are as good as Rome or Florence, or Da Marino. We recently helped our son move to NYC, and while there, was referred to Da Marino by a friend who had been there several times. Now, when my wife says she wants Italian food, I almost start looking at tickets to JFK. It’s THAT good. I have had the best food Italy has to offer, from Florence to Rome to Naples to the Amalfi Coast. Our visit to Da Marino put us in the heart of Italy (the country with the best food on the planet), and they met the standard. Conveniently located a block from Times Square and in the heart of the Theatre District, perfect for a pre-Broadway meal. The owner Craig is also a retired Navy veteran, so we had some commonality there. Frequent guests to the restaurant are a veritable who’s who of NYC and Hollywood, with Martin Scorcese and Robert De Niro (among others) known to dine there, and countless other signed photographs from notable patrons adorn in the walls. If Scorcese and De Niro find Da Marino to be up to the standard for Italian food, I’d say that’s a ringing endorsement. Upon entering, we were taken with the old-world look and feel of the decor, and greeted by Tom, the most gregarious and likable Maitre D’ in the Big Apple. The hospitality of the entire staff is exceptional. There is a full cocktail bar (at which was produced an impeccable martini), there’s a robust wine list (house Chianti was exceptional) and the appetizers were magnificent (Caprese and Calamari). Dinner was beyond compare, we ordered Pappardele Bolognese, Linguini with Clams and Linguini di Mare, which were all amazing. Linguini with clams was the best I have ever had, and I am very particular about that dish. Live piano music made for a perfect ambiance, and our sever Josh was wonderful. Dessert was cannoli and tiramisu; I had basically given up on tiramisu outside of Italy, but have now found the one place in the US I can really enjoy it. Light, delicious, …perfect. Tom said the cheesecake is always extremely popular, but we had no room … so we will be back for that. I rarely if ever write restaurant reviews of this length and detail, but Da Marino was well worth the effort. It was the finest Italian restaurant experience I have enjoyed outside of Italy. Can’t recommend this wonderful restaurant strongly enough.
I stumbled into this quaint Italian restaurant with my company to find a large man playing piano table side. The food was delicious, we went with a chicken carbonara which we shared was delicious and the portion size was perfect. The waiters were attentive and friendly and I recall the service being excellent.
We felt like we found a gem hidden right in the middle of everything in NYC! When we arrived we were instantly greeted by a friendly employee and seated right away. Throughout the entire experience our service was especially personable, friendly, and helpful. They had excellent food recommendations to offer. We settled on the chicken with white wine sauce. I can't remember the name of anything we ordered, but it was great! It came with scalloped potatoes or a pasta as a side. We also ordered meatballs. They had a fantastic meat sauce on them. Our third item was the pasta with vodka sauce. This surprised me as one of my favorite items! We also enjoyed the bread that came before the meal. It was served with a small side of lentil soup & olive oil/balsamic. While we were waiting we enjoyed the chocolate martini. There were four diners and we were satisfied with 3 meals shared because the portions were very generous. We were full, until they mentioned dessert. Then our mouths watered All over again! We ended up with a sample platter of desserts. It was perfect for us to be able to taste it all! The favorites from the desserts were the cannoli and the cheesecake. Although it felt like we found a hidden gem, it is actually an incredibly popular restaurant. The walls are covered with well known famous patrons! That was a fun addition to the environment. We enjoyed looking through the celebrities that had also enjoyed the food! Thanks for having us! We will be back next time we visit NYC!
My Wife and I ate here about 2 hours after our Broadway show on a Saturday. The food was excellent, we had the specials, lamb chops and my wife had a cocoa infused pasta dish. The owner/manager was really nice, friendly, and funny. Highly recommend this restaurant. The atmosphere inside is a little tight but I thought it was cozy.
Loved this place and returned 2nd time. As good as the 1st time. Nice atmosphere, live piano, good pasta and fantastic tiramisu! All staff is great and friendly!
The whole entire experience was exquisite. By far one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been too, both in atmosphere and with cuisine. Perfect place to dine after seeing a Wednesday matinee. Continuing the musical experience with Danny. Not to mention, the phenomenal murals painted on every wall as if your in the Calabrian region of Italy. Let’s talk about how lovely the staff was, especially the Maitre De, Tom. They even let me sing 2 songs. As well as the food, just divine, everything was cooked to perfection! It’s a must, I give it 5 stars!
Dining at Da Marino Restaurant was an unforgettable experience. From the moment you step inside, you’re transported to the heart of Italy. The food was absolutely excellent, with every dish bursting with authentic flavors and prepared to perfection. Adding to the charm was the live music, which created a lively and intimate atmosphere. The service was top-notch—attentive, friendly, and made us feel like family. It’s a perfect spot for anyone looking to enjoy a genuine Italian dining experience. I 100% recommend Da Marino to anyone visiting New York. You won’t be disappointed!
Such a great late night dinner for my wife and I. The host and the entire staff were great. I especially enjoyed seeing the host sing to the tables. The food was Excellent, best meal we had during our NYC stop. We ate Italian every night lol. The piano player was friendly as well. A+
da marino is a hidden gem on 49th with live music, great ambience and service (especially allicia) that was super fast. food portions were a great value for your money. i got the calamari (not pictured), carbonara, and tiramisu, and i have nothing bad to say about any of it. calamari was crispy, carbonara was creamy, tiramisu was delicious 😋 overall, amazing establishment and i’ll be back soon!
A hidden gem in the middle of everything! If you want authentic Italian and a fun meal surrounding your day of the theater, this is perfect! We had the Chocolate Pasta with Vodka Sauce & Shrimp and Pollo Franchiase and they were both vibrant with flavor and huge portions! We went early, right after a matinee at 5pm, but by the time we finished the place was packed! While a tight squeeze, it never felt too loud.
Amazing cute little place in the middle of theater District with live piano music!!! Terrific! And call them directly if you need a reservation don’t rely on OpenTable
I LOVE IT HERE ! Such an amazing experience with culture and love ! Cheers literally when you come in such a beautiful bar. I love the piano and the music . It was cinco de mayo and we still came to have a drink. They did a two for one on a Sunday! ❤️❤️❤️ absolutely amazing. The bread is so so good and warm. I never felt so loved before please visit !
Very lively Italian place. Food is americanized, pasta is a but overcooked, but it is nice atmosphere and especially loved live piano music. Highly recommend beef carpaccio. It was very nice. Lobster ravioli was nice too. Carbonara was just OK. Tiramisu was moist and was gone in two seconds. Def good 😂
This fine restaurant is a MUST for those who love Italian cuisine. Plus the entire staff is very friendly and the service is wonderful. Aside from that, the food is delicious. 2 of us had the Lobster Ravioli, 1 had Rigatoni with meatballs and Chicken Parmigiana. Very good. Our appetizer was fresh mozzarella which I highly encourage you to order. DELICIOUS They also made my Aunt, who was celebrating her 80th birthday feel very special as the host had the pianist play while he had the Restaurant singing Happy Birthday! Thank you, Da Marino for a wonderful end to our perfect day. 😊
The staff was incredibly kind and the service was top tier. Will definitely be coming back here considering the food was amazing. The atmosphere being beautiful was the cherry on top.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting your establishment and would like to commend you on the lovely atmosphere. The presence of live music creates a wonderfully relaxed environment, making it an ideal spot to either unwind at the end of the day or to kickstart an enjoyable evening. Additionally, a few of your staff members were particularly friendly and contributed to the pleasant experience. Overall, a charming place to spend some quality time. I look forward to visiting again.
If you are looking for a good Italian place, this is the one!! My friends and I ended up going here on a bit of a whim and we were very pleased with every aspect of our dining experience. Service was absolutely excellent and everyone was very friendly. Despite us going at peak rush time, our food was out quickly and the quality was amazing. I ordered the carbonara and it was some of the best I've had. The tomato bruschetta and tiramisu are also musts. Cannot recommend this place enough!
If you’re a fan of traditional Italian food, look no further. Da Marino is THE spot for your Italian fix. The food is made fresh daily and the flavors are exquisite. Our table had the pleasure of eating several delectable dishes throughout the night — we ended up spending the entire time passing our plates around the table and sharing everything. The calamari was delicious and the the pasta dishes were mouth-watering. And don’t get me started on the complementary freshly-made bread and lentils — an amazing duo! And the drinks were delightful - a perfect pair to each plate. We finished with the most yummy desserts - I’m not even sure how we made room for it all. In addition to the excellent food and drinks, the staff was super friendly and made us feel at home. Special shoutout to Tom, the manager, who took care of everything and anticipated every need before we even knew we had them. The servers, bartenders, and live pianist were also super lively and friendly. Will be coming there again and again and again! *Bonus points: There is an amazing pianted mural of the Les Miserables logo. And great location: right in the heart of Times Square. And the owners of the restaurant are super warm and welcoming.
Great piano bar that is centrally located. The manager was friendly and attentive. I was passing by and the music stopped me in my tracks. I stepped in and was pleasantly surprised. I sat at the bar to have a drink and enjoy the scene. The piano player even made his way to the bar to say hello to me. Definitely, plan on stopping by again and having dinner all while enjoying the atmosphere.
The food was delicious, the service was like nothing I have ever seen before, the live piano had great songs, and the ambience was perfect, would come again!
Absolutely the best Italian restaurant in the city! Tom is the GM and he’s a great guy….make sure all customers are taken care of. Brittany (from my home state of Louisiana) was our waitress and does a fabulous job of explaining the menu and suggesting dishes and is personable and fun. The food…..WOW! A must to visit…make reservations and be patient when you get there. It’s worth it! Thanks Tom for setting us up at the Kings table. You rock!!
Excellent customer service. Our attendant, John, was very friendly, helpful, and charismatic. The food was good, with excellent portion sizes.
Honestly I don’t know what to say this place is absolutely amazing from the time me and my wife sat down to the time we left our experience here was everything we hoped for I would gladly recommend this authentic Italian food to anyone who loves quality
Excellent service! Small and quaint restaurant with an authentic Italian vibe. A piano nestled next to the bar was beautifully attended throughout the evening and the pianist not only sang, he maintained dialog with the guests and took requests. I highly recommend the dish the cocoa fettuccini.
My husband flew me to New York City as the first stop of our honeymoon, as a surprise. I had been to Da Marino's before and had wanted to eat dinner there after finding out where we were going. We didn't have reservations but the manager was very kind and found a way to seat us. The food was amazing and the piano bar, lights, and overall mood of the restaurant was perfect for the first night of our honeymoon together. I would highly recommend this spot!
If you're looking for a sign to try something new, this is it. Last night, I ended up at Da Marino NYC on a recommendation for "Chocolate Fettuccine." I know, I was skeptical too! But the dough is savory and the sauce is heavenly. Special shoutout to our waitress, Veronica, who treated us like family. From the lentils (best I’ve ever had) to the Tiramisu that won over a coffee-hater like me, every bite was 5 stars. If you’re in the Theater District, don't walk—run here.
Amazing restaurant !! Food and drinks are delicious, wonderful ambience. Perfect for date night, family gatherings , girls night out ! The owners are amazing & make you feel like family. All wait staff were consistently checking in to make sure we were satisfied and taken care of. Cannot recommend this place enough!
Absolutely incredible Italian spot in NYC. The pasta was fresh and flavorful, the cocktails were on point, and the service was warm and attentive. Cozy, lively vibe without being too loud. One of those places you immediately want to come back to. 10/10 🇮🇹🍝
Every single time I come here I am reminded why I love it so much. The food is spectacular, the staff is extremely attentive and the atmosphere is perfect. It gives that classic east coast Italian but with a funky twist. Will be back again!
We went to Da Marino for a birthday meal, and both the staff and food were absolutely incredible! It was such a special experience — we sat right near the beautiful piano and were able to enjoy the music without it being too loud for conversation. At the end of the meal, the staff all sang "Happy Birthday" and brought out cheesecake, making what was already a magnificent evening one to remember forever.
I celebrated my birthday there and it was a wonderful experience. The food was delicious, the staff were incredibly kind, and they made my night so much fun and truly special. I can’t wait to come back! Thank you so much for such a special evening.
My wife and I come to NYC every few years and we always make a point of visiting this gem of a restaurant. It is perfect for a late dinner after a show, or, really, anytime. I was in the mood for fish tonight and was about to order the Red Snapper. Our excellent waiter suggested the Branzino as a possible alternative, so I ordered that instead. It was outstanding! There is always an excellent live piano player/vocalist and, tonight (like always), the volume was perfect—loud enough to be easily heard, but not so loud that conversation is at all difficult. I plan to always get a meal at Da Marino every time I come to NYC!
This place is wonderful! My wife, two children and I were there a year a half ago, so this review is a long time coming. Everything about this place from the food, fun atmosphere, and very friendly service is excellent. There is even someone who sings and plays the piano. The manager, Tom, was such a friendly and welcoming person as well as the rest of the staff. The location is perfect, especially if you happen to be seeing a Broadway show. It's on the same block as the Book of Mormon. If you are in New York, this place is an absolute must! In fact, my wife and I will be there in two weeks, and this is at the top of our list of the places to go! To the staff and management of Da Marino, thank you so much for such a fantastic dining experience, and we can't wait to see you all in two weeks!
We hoped for a comfortable and reasonably well priced dinner following a Broadway show. We were pleasantly surprised at the fresh, delicious Italian food and had an amazing evening here. If Tom (manager), John (waiter), Dennis (piano/singing), and Josh (bartender) are all there, you are in for a truly amazing night in NYC. We can't wait to come back!
This is what you think, when you think of old New York. A celebration of New York history combined with great Italian food. The whole family was vacationing in Manhattan and we were blessed to find Da Marino. Great classic pastas, and in my case, the best Salmon I’ve ever enjoyed. This will definitely be on our list every time we happen to be in New York.
We visited Da Marino during the 2021 holiday season and it was fantastic from start to finish. We had a recommendation from a friend and ended up booking a reservation the same night. We were politely greeted by Tom, the manager, and he checked our vaccine cards and showed us to our table quickly even with our late reservations. John, our waiter, and the other waitstaff were also extremely friendly, quick to respond, and knowledgeable about the menu. My fiancée and I ended up ordering some wine and Bruschetta al Pomodoro (Tomato Bruschetta) to start. They provided complimentary bread which was still warm and was fantastic with the provided side dish. My fiancée ended up ordering the carbonara which she thought was delicious and had plenty of pancetta, was creamy, but not too heavy at all. I had the Lobster ravioli with shrimp which was also very good. For dessert, we had the homemade Tiramisu and it was so good we ended up finishing it all. The ambiance was amazing, a live pianist arrived at 6PM and was playing Christmas music. Even Tom got on the microphone and received applause for his amazing performance of “My Way” by Frank Sinatra. We can’t wait to be back again in April!
I’m reviewing this cozy restaurant because even during New Year’s Eve when all the hotels and restaurants were either closed or asking for tickets and packages, this place saved our night with good food, great drinks (hats off to the bartender), and cozy environment with live piano music. Definitely recommend, although you might wait a bit to get tables. Food is also served at the bar too.
Great restaurant for Italian food in Times Square area, excellent service and food! We had dinner reservations for Friday evening with family and food was excellent, we ordered chicken Marsala, penne vodka, rigatoni bolognese, all was excellent, large portions of good food, also live entertainment was great! Thank you very much!
We visited Da Marino NYC this evening before a Broadway show and had an amazing experience! We sat at the bar for appetizers and drinks and loved everything! Our bartender was extremely nice and friendly. The piano player, Dennis, completely added to our experience! We enjoyed listening to him sing and play piano. A true NYC gem! Highly recommend Da Marino NYC!
Valentine’s Day lunch here was perfection! They had special Valentine’s Day cocktails and I ordered the Love Potion (Prosecco with strawberry purée) — it was delicious and lived up to the name. Warm fresh bread with lentil spread came to the table and it was flavorful! We shared a Caprese salad and Pasta Fagioli, both super fresh and comforting. For mains, the Ossobuco (veal shank over saffron risotto) was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the Rigatoni Buttera (rigatoni pasta with sausage in spicy tomato sauce) was the perfect amount of spice and pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. Tiramisu was so good and the perfect way to end such a delicious lunch we forgot to take a photo. Old-school Italian vibes, attentive service, and very romantic — plus it was featured in Season 2, Episode 8 of Sex and the City. Would absolutely come back!!
The only place I’ll ever eat in Times Square/Theater District! Craig and Kay to incredible care of me and my girls for our friends birthday. Every bite was better than the next. Highly recommend the chicken franchese and the calamari. The staff was extra accommodating that they made sure our food came out on time for us to make our show early! We loved Da Mario’s so much we came back for dessert where you can sing karaoke with a live pianist! Truly an incredibly experience to end our wonderful girls night out.
Came to Da Marino on Valentine’s Day, and it was truly a delightful experience. We had a bit of trouble booking online, but the manager was incredibly accommodating over the phone and found us a spot. We even arrived a bit early, and there was a table ready for us right away. The ambiance was absolutely beautiful thoughtfully designed and cozy. The service was impeccable; our waiter was attentive and friendly, always making sure we had everything we needed, from water refills to checking on our meals. It made the evening feel extra special. And the food, absolutely delicious! We especially loved the chicken parm, the penne alla vodka, and the carbonara. The vibe was warm and welcoming, and we felt well taken care of from start to finish. We’re definitely looking forward to coming back and trying some salads next time, too. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I can’t recommend Da Marino highly enough!
The food is always decent here with big portions. There was a fun pianist performing this time we were here. The atmosphere is very “basement old Italian past its prime” but so long as you know that going in, there should be no surprises. The waitstaff are friendly but there were a few communication issues this time. No big deal but did make it a little frustrating sometimes to try and explain things. Very attentive though!
This place was unbelievable!!!! Walked in at 11pm after a show, greeted at the door, the service was unbelievable! The food delicious. Piano player Bill was fantastic. The atmosphere was perfect. Came across it on accident and myself and my daughter will make it a regular trip every time we are in the city! I was only able to get one of the servers names, Suman. But they were all terrific and attentive!
Had a great experience here. The staff and owner were incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating such a fun atmosphere. The food was outstanding, hands down some of the best penne vodka and chicken francese I’ve ever had. Everything was cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and tasted homemade. You can tell they really care about their food and their customers. Highly recommend and will definitely be back!
We were a group of six out for a girls’ night after seeing a Broadway show, and this restaurant turned out to be the perfect ending to our evening! Every dish — from the Filet Mignon and Sea Bass to the Chocolate Fettuccine, Ravioli, Salad, and Caprese — was absolutely delicious. We finished with the cheesecake and tiramisu, which were both divine. What truly made the night unforgettable was our waiter, GoGo. He was attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable, offering great recommendations and making sure we had everything we needed. The combination of amazing food, a warm vibe, and top-notch service exceeded all our expectations. We can’t wait to come back!
Alyssa was an amazing bartender at Da Marino! From the moment I sat down, she was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. She made excellent drink recommendations, kept everything moving smoothly despite how busy it was, and had such a great, friendly energy that really elevated the whole experience. You can tell she truly cares about her guests. If you’re at Da Marino, definitely sit at the bar and ask for Alyssa — she made our night in NYC even better.
Da Marino NYC is such a charming spot! The atmosphere is warm, quaint, and unique for the area. The staff was very friendly, and the service overall was great. The food was delicious, definitely on the pricier side, but the quality made it worth it. We really enjoyed our visit and would consider coming back again.
Good was great, lasagna was a large serving, we had ravioli as well and gnocchi with chicken. We sat at the bar due to not making a reservation, however it was a pleasant experience. If you don’t want to experience the sounds and smells of the outside, don’t sit at the bar. Our service was good, the bartender was as attentive although he was busy. I would come back next time I visit the city and the piano player was lovely as well.
Went to Da Marino on 8/8/25 for dinner with my daughter and aunt. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. The servers came over with sparkling water, my daughter dropped her knife on the floor and the server immediately came over to tell her he would pick it up and provided a new one for her. We were served warm bread with this delicious lentil dip for the bread. My waitress was friendly and funny, plus the recommendations she made from the menu were great. My table ordered a salad with the BEST house dressing I have ever had!!! I ordered a steak that was so juicy, flavorful, and cooked to my level of perfection. Everything we ordered was so delish!! The servings were great portion size, and the food came out quickly. The restaurant was clean, so were the bathrooms :-). The ambiance made me feel like I was transported to Italy, the hand painted art all over the restaurant made me feel like I was in a museum. The musician playing the piano provided to the overall light, fun, very New York experience. Overall this was a 10/10 and I can't wait to go back here!
The place worth visiting again for all the reasons, specially the texture of the food as we ordered Mushroom Pasta, Gnocchi and Lasagna! The place had strong Italian vibes, super amazing hospitality by John! Music was so nice and apt so that people can talk for hours followed by freshly brewed coffee having a thick aroma! The rain, this place, food and coffee were so complimenting each other 🙂
Small tucked away right opposite the Ambassador Theatre, but once you open the doors the very special atmosphere strikes you. Beautifully decorated and greeted by a live artiste on the piano that was special. The food was plentiful and excellent. The only negative I would say is that the prices in the menu are NOT the prices they charge! About $3 per person extra? Not sure about NY but that is definitely illegal in the UK!
This restaurant had a good menu and was selected because the location was minutes away from the show that we were seeing. Made a reservation for 6:00pm, arrived at 5:55pm, but was not seated until after 6:30pm. The place is intimate (small), with little to no room for waiting. The host had a lot of energy and seemed to love his job. The waiters seemed overwhelmed (perhaps they were either understaffed, had the pressure of getting people served quickly so that they could get to the theatre or both). As soon as we were seated, I asked if we would have enough time to eat and get to the theatre on time. He asked what time we wanted to leave by, I told him 7:30pm, and he said "ok." We immediately ordered, and I was about to cancel our order when the food hadn't come out at 7:10pm. But somehow, he was able to get us out by 7:30pm. Complimentary bread was brought to the table. I had capellini (angel hair) all' ortolana and added capers. It was a nice dish. Someone else in my party had the lamb chops and enjoyed them. If you are planning to see a show (especially on the weekend), don't roll the dice, make a reservation around 5:00pm or 5:30pm. I will consider dining at Da Marino again when I won't have any time restraints.
Enjoyable night at Da Marino - the staff and entertainment were a highlight. The food was pretty good, though not exactly as described - "all of the pasta dishes are homemade" certainly did not apply to what I ordered, but portions were large and sufficiently tasty. Fun live music right off the beaten path in Times Square.
Awesome food and the piano bar is perfect! I had their specials and they were incredible. Only drawback (reason for 4 stars instead of 5) is because the prices for the specials were not listed on the menu. Not that it would have changed my opinion, but I didn't realize one of the appetizers was $26 until after I got the bill! Still, this is an incredible restaurant and I highly recommend it.
If you're looking for delicious old school Italian, this is the place. The decor is classic, if a bit dated. The service was ok. We were waited on and food arrived quickly. Follow up was slow. We enjoyed the gentlemen playing piano. Overall a positive experience.
Pretty good Italian food. Hard to find good food in New York so this was a pleasant place to eat. Their chicken with capers dish was filling and good. It comes with a marinara rigatoni which was also good. Their blue margarita was also flavorful. My girlfriend got the shrimp ravioli and said it was really good. They serve French bread with lentils as well as balsamic vinegar and oil. All were good flavor. Great service and great atmosphere just off of Times Square.
Late reservation (10:45) after theatre for four - very accommodating even tho we were late. Piano player, very sociable crowd. Food was very good, broad selection; mussels and clams fresh and pasta delicious. Somewhat limited wine list for an Italian restaurant. Seevice attentive but not overbearing. Literally in the heart of the theatre district, so great location for before or after performances.
Such a cute and charming spot. We passed it on our way to our hotel and made a reservation immediately. I had the vodka pasta and a glass of moscato, it was delicious and I almost ate the whole bowl of pasta. The atmosphere felt so New York with the lights and decor. The live music was also great- she played songs everyone knew and was very entertaining. Totally recommend trying this place while you’re in New York.
Lovely little place , only had time for a cpl of drinks. Didn’t have the opportunity to try the food. Unfortunately, the a/c wasn’t working so I couldn’t stay long because I was starting to sweat like a farm animal🐖 however the bartender was very good & I will return to give a complete review.
Da marina The place looks beautiful it’s very compact but for the most part it look amazing. There is art on the walls with a nice Mediterranean style. Interior, 4.5/5 The starter bread tastes good on the inside but very dry on the outside. However the beans they serve you taste ok. What does make the starters good is the sauce you dip the bread in. They give you oil to dip it in. Another starter is the salad with tomatoes and lettuce. It has Italian house dressing on it. Starter bread, 4.3/5 Bread dip, 4.8/5 Beans, 3.1/5 Salad, 4.3/5 For the meal I got Lamb Chops. The lamb chops came with homemade honey, rosemary spices, and homage mashed potato’s. This gave a very nice taste and is probably the best lamb I’ve ever had. Lamb chops, 5/5 My friend got The Chicken Parmesan. It came with a pasta on the side. He said it tastes delicious and was inscrutable. Chicken Parmesan, 5/5 To sum it all up this is great restaurant with a nice building and great food. The appetizers were the part that may need to be worked on but everything else is great. The overall review of this restaurant is a 4.4/5
The service is excellent and the atmosphere is relaxed. However, we were not 100% pleased with the food. It was slightly on the bland side. But don't let that stop you from visiting and dining. They have excellent selections on their menu. It simply did not match our expectations.
The best thing about this restaurant is the food. Great food. Upon entering the restaurant, it was rather cramped and tight. Once seated, we waited a good 20 minutes before anyone came to the table to take our drink order. Food took over 30 minutes to be served. The musician playing the piano and singing was memorable.
We had a 5:00 reservation and were asked to leave by 6:30 so they could seat a party of 12, despite still having full glasses from the bottle we paid for. The restaurant was hot, and there was an unpleasant smell when we first walked in. Overall, we felt rushed and unwelcome. Not the kind of treatment you’d expect from a place at this price point.
Warm, wonderful staff and stunning venue however the food wasn't up to scratch. My wife ordered a ravioli dish that was a watery, buttery "slop" without taste. My four cheese dish was better but I wouldn't give it an average 3. Maybe they're better at meat dishes and there were plenty of happy customers.
Reservation at 5:30. Wasn't seated till 6:15. Food was fine. Service left something to be desired.
We were attracted bybthe xmas decorations outside their door so we went in. It was around 4:30pm and the restaurant was almost empty. But they put us at a table next to the way towards restroom. Until we left, the restaurant was stil very empty. The xmas cocktails were nice. The thin slice tuna was the only good item. The fry Calamari was ok. The chocolate pasta tasted really ordinary, not much the price. Angle hair pasta and chicken were under cooked. It was a dispointed experience.
These reviews are entirely misleading... I'm shocked at them after our experience Saturday 12/13. Originally we picked this place because it was close to our show at broadway and the reviews we saw but what a nightmare! We had a reservation for 5:30 and their were a line of people who also had reservations who said they had been waiting for 30-45 minutes. The line of people was in a narrow pathway right behind the bar making it extremely congested. We were lucky enough to get 4 seats at the bar and they finally called for us around 6:30. The bartender, bless his heart, had a good attitude despite the chaos and was doing his best to accomadate us AND the entire restaurant. A SINGLE bartender. The food was terrible. We all had one bite of our dish as we were already annoyed and extremely frustrated. I would not recommend or return.
Horrible experience Waited 30 minutes after reservation.. food was not good at all, portions were TINY Super super tight was getting shoved while waiting to be seated for 30 minutes… I just wouldn’t recommend. So disappointing especially for the money we paid… unbelievable
We felt like we were being punked. We went admittedly late on a Friday night and the piano player was playing 90’s grunge at the top of his lungs. With karaoke levels of quality. He finished his playing for the night with a rendition of “A Day in the Life” by The Beatles - extended, discordant transitions and everything. The volume made conversations impossible. The food was totally mediocre and overpriced. A very strange experience. Worth visiting for the absurd women’s bathroom alone.
Perhaps the worst service I’ve ever experienced in a restaurant. Despite having a reservation, we were told we’d need to wait for a table. There is no reasonable place to wait - just jostling customers and waitstaff in the middle of the crowded restaurant. We were seated 40 minutes later. During the next hour, I had to get out of my chair to request service, and ask for a time estimate, as we had theater tickets. After an hour and 40 minutes, when we’d still not received our meals, we left without eating. To make matters worse, this ball of dust and hair was hanging from the ceiling over my daughter’s head the whole time. Extremely disappointing experience.
You take eight steps down to get into the below street level restaurant. My waiter was named, as shown on the receipt, Suman D., who looked like he was having a bad day. The music was so loud, he got annoyed when I could hardly hear his answer to a question I asked related to one of the restaurant's murals. I ordered the Pasta e Fagioli (a pasta and bean soup). Their version did not come close to matching the best that I have had elsewhere. Their version was like a minestrone soup, with more beans and pasta than a minestrone soup has. The broth is supposed to have a bean flavor to it, which it did not. It was listed as being $11.75. When I got the bill, the charge was $14.75. I pointed that out to him, he returned with a corrected check without an apology or explanation. On a different day, I had their sea trout topped with a lemon sauce. The trout seemed like it had the right texture, but the fish itself had no taste, the lemon sauce tasted like lemon.
We walked out. We live around the corner. Every time we go problems but we are local as and want to support it. But NEVER again. Reservation for Christmas Eve. The manager in the black coat was so rude we walked out before being sat. I won’t even get into how the food is bland and drinks suck but we want to support this place cause it’s small and cute but we will never return. Stay away and go to restaurant row.
So rude to have me as a big party of 6 when we were a table of 3, so they can include the tip! As a latino living in the NYC in the past 10 years, i always tip 20% and im familiar with the tip culture. First time I have a situation like this and rude to include the tip when I was planning to tip. This is illegal and RUDE. Don't go to this place.
