Great place to work at with your laptop even during COVID-19 while social distancing. Great coffe and muffins, the staff also kind and friendly. They have pretty good WIFI and the Restrooms always clean, will definitely go back.

Came here for the WiFi and nice seating arrangement. Ordered a ice tea, they had three options: black, green or herbal. The black and green tea leafs were lower quality than I would expect for a 4+ dollar iced tea, but it still tastes fine. Would return.

Amazing coffee. The caffeine really works and seems to give you more energy then a standard Starbucks or dunkin coffee. Also the iced drinks are a bit pricey but they have a great creamy taste that you just don't get at other places. Other places iced coffee always tastes watered down and bland. Definetly worth it.

I love this spot! They have great coffee (and a really delicious matcha latte!), plus lots of seating/table space. The overall environment is very nice: warm and cozy but not overly comfy, which makes it a great spot to get some work done. The baristas are great. Tables are usually more crowded in the evening, but there's usually plenty of options in the morning/early afternoon.

Wonderful coffee and bagels. This location has a spacious open airy seating area with great outside light. Nice service. The mother and daughter business ownership, commitments to gender equity, plus the local roaster in Queens are all pretty great.

This is real coffee done right. Had the Tanzanian Peabody and bought a 1/2 pound. Great beans prepared correctly. Went back for the Hawaiian Kona and it was a winner as well. Great coffee and good bagels too. Had the sundried tomato cream cheese on an egg bagel. Very tasty! Could use some more comfortable chairs, but there were a couple to sit on that weren't too bad.

Very Comfortable place to pop in for a snack, coffee, and a break. Clean design with an industrial feel. Employees are friendly, coffee was very good and I had the chocolate chip muffin which was moist and fresh. Lots of people on laptops in here and the vibe is very chill. Felt like being in a coworking space (which is fine with me, I needed some quiet). They also have a cute outdoor place to sit as of June 2021.

Excellent bagels with cream cheese, lox, onions and capers. No lettuce and no tomato obviously. Had the B&B classic and the B&B wasabi. Both were excellent! Also had iced americano which was also excellent!

Stopped by for a honey iced latte and it was delicious! There’s plenty of seating in here too so it seems like a great place to read a book or do some work if you wanted!

They had me a the Vegan hot chocolate. Nice and clean open space. Minimalist look. Came in on a Tuesday afternoon, decent crowd, and still had enough space to hang out in some comfy recliners by a quiet wall.

The honey latte at Bean & Bean is my favorite! I also like the butter scone (from Balthazar).The place is bright and spacious yet cozy.

Just had one of the best latte’s of my life! The white mocha flavor was divine (and not too sweet). The barista was really nice too. She made sure my drink was right even though it was busy. Can’t wait to come back here!

Been here a million and twelve times. No real complaints. Some employees are nicer than others, sometimes the egg sandwich hits and sometimes it doesn't, the upholstered chairs have tears in them, but they have plenty of outlets, good coffee, big tables, and lots of space. Can't ask for more.

There really is something about their coffee, I only drink black coffee and it was the best tasting coffee I really have ever had! I was so busy when I stopped in for my first time I didn't realize that it was their own coffee blend, coffee good enough to make it your first stop in the morning even if you gotta pass some more spots! Awesome job guys!

Good coffee! It's a cosy little coffee shop, a small business, very close to Penn Station. When I just arrived in NYC and was in need of coffee, I looked for coffee shops on Google and this showed up close by. There were a couple of places with higher ratings but I chose to go here and boy, did I make the right decision! I'm usually sceptical of some small independent coffee shops that tend to just put together some coffee and milk, frothing the milk way too much such that the top of the cup is a large topping of just foam. But I'm so glad Bean & Bean wasn't one such place. It was a well made coffee! It's a good spot for a quick work session too but it can get a little stuffy if spent too much time indoors.

Anne had the Mango Refresher which was needed during the scorching weather in New York City. I opted for a small Iced Latte and a toasted Everything Bagel with cream cheese as I hadn’t had lunch. We sat at a large table with grooves. While there were some customers the cafe wasn’t crowded or noisy. However, the music was a touch too loud which made it hard for me to hear my friend. We sat there for quite a while. Service here is friendly and efficient. There is a variety of seating including comfortable armchairs which is unusual. A gender neutral restroom (washroom) is here as well.

Their bagels are super yummy and the baristas were friendly. I got the turkey sandwich…minus mayo, add cream cheese and cucumbers. DELISH! Their green iced tea was smooth and refreshing.

I went on a Saturday afternoon. They had 0 line compared to Brooklyn Bagel’s long line. Cashier was very very patient as I looked over the menu. I was indecisive and asked her rec for cream cheese; she said the avocado was one of her faves so I went with that. It was really really good!!! I love the amount of cream cheese used; it’s not a ridiculously dense layer like some New York bagel shops do, nor too thin. It was just right. Coffee was tasty too!! They had plenty of seating inside, and a restroom for customers. I’ll absolutely come back!

The best tasting decaf I’ve found in nyc! Surprisingly sweet and caramely! The people here were so nice too—props to them for running such a busy place so kindly! They also have an awesome variety of treats with many gluten free and dairy free options. I got a gf/vegan oatmeal cookie!

This is a spacious, friendly, and comfortable spot for hot and cold coffees and teas, as well as bagels, pastries, and snacks. In the late morning you can seating for a rest, a little co-working, or a breezy hang with friends and family. The iced raspberry tea is a cool refreshment. The staff are smiling, with youthful energy and sunny poise. If you look up from noshing or your phone, you’ll also realize you’re in a great spot for slow people watching. You might even spot the cutest dog come in for a cup of water, too.

I recently visited a coffee shop with a few friends and was pleasantly surprised by the experience. The service was fast and the staff was friendly and helpful. The inside was clean and wide open with plenty of seating spread out, which allowed us to easily socialize with each other. Additionally, there was plenty of space to get work done with lots of tables and open areas. The coffee was great; they had several different beans and flavors to choose from. My friends and I all found something that we liked. The pastries were also delicious. I had a muffin that was freshly baked and had a wonderful flavor. Overall, my friends and I had a great time at the coffee shop. It had a great atmosphere with lots of space to hang out and get work done. The coffee was excellent and the pastries were delicious. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great place to hang out and get some work done.

Excellent coffee; the workers are v nice, though they seem a bit "green." My croissant was quite good but could have been fresher.

Perfect workspace with free wifi, refreshing drinks, tasty grub and two clean bathrooms, although prices reflect the popularity of its Chelsea locale. Comfortable in all weather and gets great light. Be aware that sometimes one guy in the corner falls asleep and snores, though.

Solid coffee (not incredible or unique but it’s good!) and TONS of seating - which is hard to find in the city. Also lots of natural light from all sides, and not overly loud, on a weekday morning at least. Conveniently located near the ACE line and not too close to Penn Station.

The bagels are so good! Loved the strawberry cream and their bacon egg and cheese bagel too. Their matcha was okay nothing special but overall would go just for the bagels!

Great cup of coffee, wide selection of pastries, and a great place to sit down with your MacBook and work on your start-up, screenplay, or the next great American novel. However, prepare to be fighting for outlet space and to potentially confuse another person's laptop as your own.

The straight up drip coffee was mediocre, but the pour over was outstanding. It's worth the money. Also the gluten free coffee cake was extraordinary! The space itself was bright and airy, big for Manhattan and lots of seats to choose from. Good spot for a quick meeting.

Coffee was 5 stars. But, except for two real chairs, seating is largely low steel stools with no backs. Ugh. Place was filled with lap toppers digesting free wifi. I prefer my coffee places to be more comfy. But hey, it's extremely popular and people seemed happy. So for me, it would be 3 stars... But, because everyone else seemed happy. I'll give 4. Service at the register was good and fast when I was there too. Great location.

Solid espresso with great crema and really nice liquor with notes of almond and chocolate. Very well made gingerbread latte that actually had gingery notes without being too sweet. Nice minimalist decor brings it all together.

Got the honey latte with oatmilk which was excellent. Also got a multi-grain bagel with the tofu vegetable cream cheese. The bagel was excellent and warm. Great coffee shop to work at. The wifi is fast and was reliable while I was working. There are a lot of spots to sit and I love that they have some taller tables so you can alternate between sitting or standing. The bathroom was a little rough though and could use an upgrade or a better cleaning schedule.

They’re so nice here and the space is pretty good for doing work on their wifi. But the matcha is not good!

Went in here cause I needed to use the restroom. Once I got in a I was pleasantly surprised. The place is huge, with so many options to sit. The coffee and food options are pricey, but most coffee shops are pricey nowadays. They don’t however have many vegan or gluten free options. But have a lot other healthy options.

I like this place for getting coffee and tea drinks and doing some work first an hour or chatting with friends. My primary issue with it is they dont have food items that are listed on their menu and the homeless are aggressive and angry and stink out the place. Bean and bean just not as sanitary as i’d like it to be.

Decent coffee but a little on the expensive side. There is never anywhere to sit here... It isn't because the place is crazy busy... I've never had to wait on line here... And there is a lot of sitting space... it is because of the usual ignorant type that come in and buy a small coffee and sit on their laptops for the next two hours without a drink whilst those who just came in and bought something and want to sit for ten mins on a hot day can't! I wish places like this and Starbucks etc would have some kind of time limit before people are asked to either buy another drink or leave so other customers are able to sit.

The bagel is good but there's literally no cream cheese on it

Advertised as closing at 5pm on Google and on the door, however they actually start closing at 4pm. I arrived at 4pm thinking I would be able to enjoy a coffee and work for an hour. But I was rushed out around 4:20 when they said was actual closing time for them. The coffee was fine. The scone was dry and tasteless. Would have bought a bagel sandwich but again they told me at 4pm that their kitchen was no longer available. None of this would have been an issue had the correct closing time been advertised or if the person who told me the kitchen was closed had also told me the place was closing in 15 minutes.

This used to be my favorite coffee shop. I live in NJ and would travel to have a coffee here. But now something must have changed, the service is bad (I miss the old baristas!!) today they don’t have any toasts. If you’re out of avocado I can understand, but you’re just out of all toasts? The cashier seems to have no clue what’s on their menu.

Today I ordered an iced americano that ended up being $7.50 before tip - in addition to the exorbitant prices, the barista charged me almost a dollar for me to put my own milk in at the counter (which I was told by another [maskless] barista should be free, though no offer was made to rectify the charge). I was in a rush so I couldn't handle it at the store, but I would strongly advise you to be cautious at this establishment - this has happened to me several times. There is a habit of overcharging and though the coffee is great, I will absolutely be sticking to shops that don't try to rip off customers. It's bad business and it has become clear to me that it is a purposeful action by the staff. Check out other spots in Chelsea before you get swindled here.

Large space for a Manhattan based cafe. Solid selection of pastries/breakfast items. Though the Espresso drinks have a burnt flavor. It’s an easy fix as it’s not the beans, but the heat and time settings when executing an espresso shot. Staff members appear unhappy

The beverages (coffee and tea) I normally purchase are fine but it's the upkeep - or lack of it - of the premises that takes this place way down. When Bean & Bean first opened around 2017/2018, it was a clean, inviting, unique coffee oasis in NYC with a well thought out open design and a cool vibe. So much so that it was always a challenge to find a seat. When a person walked in, there was the aroma of roasted coffee beans, and sacks of coffee beans on display and stored behind the counter. Now the place looks neglected, shabby and simply run down. Windows haven't been cleaned as evidenced by fingerprints. Tape holds up plastic signs on various walls, there's a visually unattractive and out-of-place display case holding food items, a cooler that previously held creamer and milk for customers to use is boarded up. Metal running boards at base of windows are dirty. The wooden communal tables could use a good sanding and even some type of coating that would preserve them better and allow for cleaning. And the bathroom - especially the walls - need a good scrubbing and sanitizing. In a nutshell, the place looks unkempt!! I'm guessing new ownership and management has taken over as there's a marked difference in the overall presentation and upkeep.

Service was fine, atmosphere was fine, but I was stunned to see that the plain croisant, lightly buttered, and slightly burnt, I bought was over $6!! It tastes like a standard croisant, and regardless of the ingredients, that just isn't worth it in this economy. I didn't get anything else. I have never felt so ripped off.

I really liked this place when I first moved to the neighborhood, it as his big windows and lots of room, great for coworking. However, I was stunned when I bought an iced oat chai latte for $8.50 to go and managed to finish it before I even walked home to my apartment, five minutes away. This is probably just a New York thing with prices at this point, but look at the sheer amount of ice in my drink. It was 70% ice for such a high price.

*warning* If the recipient of your order is a white girl with a blonde hair, make sure to check the receipt. She purposely adds food that you didn't order and push you to pay before you notice the price is ridiculous. then, she'll ignore when you ask them to refund. And you'll never get an apology for their mistake, but rather you'll have to be self-conscious!

First time trying this place since I did not have time to make a cup of coffee at home. Service while not bad was very mechanical, I then seasoned my plain coffee with almond milk (the brand I actually use) and a sweetener. Now I can tell you I have drunk some of the worst coffee in existence, I was in the Navy for a decade. But this cup was gross, it made it 2 blocks with me walking to work, then I tossed it. It wasn't a sour taste, nor was it burnt, just a dull boring taste. I might try one more time in the coming days to see if they can redeem but if not the one star stands. You cannot be slinging coffee in NYC and have it taste worse than the coffee on a Navy ship that has been sitting for 6 hours and one step away from being gelatinous, square your coffee away.

This used to be a good place to grab a morning cup, sit, read but now it just attracts an element I don't care for. One guy took up a tremendous amount of desk space with a full sized monitor, looked like a 26" model, along with other computer peripherals. Really? Why drag that around? Work at home! Another time a woman parked her large store shopping cart of worldly possessions and decided this was her hangout, made no purchase. Yea, I understand the world has changed but other coffee establishments seem able to deal with this. This place just ignores a responsibility to its customers comfort and safety. Also, their app seems to be down a lot, so bring plastic or cash. If I ever need a cup, it will only be a grab and go, but I frequent other neighboorhood options. Disappointing.

One of worst cappuccinos ever - milk burnt, not frothed properly, finished ugly

They sold me a stale vegan 3 berry muffin for almost $5. The coffee was okay but nothing special. Its a nice place to sit down and maybe work on your laptop but probably avoid the food. They charge for everything extra.

Walked in 25 minutes before closing and they had already shut down their espresso machines. I get it you want to get out quickly… but that’s crazy. Leave one in service. You lost a sale and made a bad impression.

today at 2:30 PM Sunday. Stopped by looking for a matcha latte. I’m new to the neighborhood and thought I’d give it a shot. Bad idea. The girl at the counter, short hair, was glued to her phone the whole time. I couldn’t understand her because she was talking way too fast, and when I asked her to repeat, she got super rude and just said it louder. Tried asking again, and she got even more annoyed. I told her there was no need to yell and left. I had already paid, so I called to cancel my order, and guess what? Same attitude—she just said “it’s canceled” and hung up on me. Honestly, terrible first impression. Definitely not coming back.

This place is great and the vibe is nice but the guy they had ringing in the front and then made my drink was so rude! Didn’t greet me or even acknowledge me when I ordered my (Cappuccino) latte. Didn’t ask me what’s my preference or how do I want it done, he looked pissed to be there and then even when he was making my drink he didn’t know what he was doing and my drink tasted bland. He didn’t make an effort to at least make look aesthetic pleasing and presentable. I even asked him a question and he just looked annoyed with life. Listen, the coffee prices are close to Starbucks but I like coming here because it’s close to my school and I love supporting small businesses BUT guys like him shouldn’t be working front cashier or dealing with customers!!!!! It’s bad for business and kills ppl energies who actually look forward to a good cup of joe and don’t need bad attitude from an employee… P.S: please train the guy!!! He shouldn’t be working in the front if he’s not properly trained! Again, bad for business. Smh I was disappointed. I ended up throwing the ice coffee away in the train station, tasted like nothing.

I unfortunately did not enjoy my coffee it was bitter. For its price, it would have been nice if it was prepared for you, it is self service, you have to add your milk and sugar... It is definitely an acquired taste, I ended up tossing after like the 3rd sip, I just couldn't finish it.

Service here is really awful. Guy who was taking our order has hoodie on his had, just nods to you to start talking, wouldn’t even say a word, you don’t know if he heard your order or not. On our question do they have certain pastry, said ‘NO’ without any further conversation. I understand how tough this job can be, I’m a barista myself but I never experienced this kind a bad attitude.

this worker scammed me with the bagel sandwich. I specifically asked for smoked salmon bagel sandwich, and yet the sandwich didn’t have salmon and i still got charged extra. No one will pay for a bagel with cream cheese for $15.

My latte cost 12$!!!!! And it's not even good. I can get the same drink at Think Coffee for less than 7$. Won't be coming back here again.

I highly encourage every customer who pays with their credit card to check their credit cards statement. I’ve been to this cafe multiple times since last fall, sometime alone sometime with friends. I always paid with my credit card and added a tip. But when I received my credit card statements, I realized that they added extra tip on top of what I paid every single time. They rely on customers not noticing $ amount difference between what they actually paid at the time of checkout and what actually is charged to their credit cards. There are a couple other Google reviews by customers who noticed the same issue. Some reviews were written one year or so back. So I assume this cafe is running this scam for quite sometime. Shameful and dishonest business practice! This cafe seems to be owned by a mother/daughter duo and I would have loved to continue supporting their business. But I will not be back - there are many other good, honest businesses/cafes around the same neighborhood.

Reduced my rating from 4 stars to 1 star (and to be fair I'm leaving my original review below). Be careful when buying your coffee at this business, they've been helping themselves to their own $1 tip at the point of sale and doing so for a long time. At the date and time of this review, a small cup of coffee is (and had been for as long as I can remember) $3.25, but for a long while, my small coffee has been priced a dollar higher (without me leaving a tip). This has to be illegal and if it isn't, it's very unfortunate that this coffee shop will have this on their reputation. Is this tactic being asked from management? Or, was this an isolated practice by a couple of the barristers there? We don't know (several of us in my office noticed this practice and began keeping an eye open for this practice). What is certain, is that we work one block from this coffee shop, we visit almost every morning, but this morning may be my last. ~~~~~ Very good coffee at a relatively good price. Coffee is also sound by the pound and is ground in-house. The atmosphere is great and the interior is ideal for looking out into the Chelsea sights. There is plenty of seating but, you'll be fortunate to find a place to sit. Plenty of work space with a good amount of outlets if that's what you look for while sipping your coffee. Excellent location, worth a visit if you're into sitting down and relaxing or working with coffee.
