I just had an amazing experience at the bondi sushi restaurant! The food was great, fresh, and very tasty. We had a great service, the staff was nice, kind and professional 💕🙏 and especially the manager of the place Curt- who make sure that our experience will be unforgettable!!!! I had the pleasure of meeting him🙏💕🙏
I was planning to take my kids to Nobu on 57th… I was tired and popped in to BONDI where my snobby 8 year old had to be pleased -we love sushi and only like the best … bondi surpassed every experience from quality, service, everything we had the best time the best fish … coming here again every week until we leave … don’t doubt just go
I’m on vacation and this place came highly recommended. I was in a bit of a rush, so I ordered takeout , the service was great, super fast, and the food was fresh and delicious. Totally worth it!
FANTASTIC! Food was amazing. Lobster handroll, seared albacore sushi (ended up having THREE orders), king salmon sushi and yellowtail jalapeño sashimi. All amazing! Even better was the atmosphere - good music but not too loud and upscale crowd. Best was the service. Curtis the manager is BEYOND classy and attentive and all the servers were the same. I was super impressed! Thank you Bondi!
The service and the sushi are unmatched. I went with my mother-in-law and son (he is two) for lunch. They were extremely welcoming and accommodating. Curtis, David, and John were the absolute best! The lunch special was so delicious, best sushi I’ve had in a while. 10/10 recommend Bondi on the UES!!
Came here during happy hour which is 3-6 pm, had lobster roll, crispy rice, and a yuzu mojito which were all very good. Servers were also very friendly - will be back!
Best sushi on the East side… I highly recommend. Food, service and atmosphere is fantastic with a down to earth vibe… shoutout to Sandra who waited on us.. her amazing hospitality was spectacular
Curtis was amazing and very helpful. Definitely a master of customer service and a ray of hope for humanity.
One of my favorite sushi spots - more on the casual side and not too pricey. Went on a date there and we loved it. Service is 4/5 stars because we were outside and didn’t always have fully speedy attention. Everything we got was great - crispy rice, toro pieces and hand rolls, and bottles of rose.
Great sushi, very very fresh and the presentation was beautifully packaged!!
Ah-Mazing! My new go-to spot. What was intended to be a quick bite turned into a real moment to stop and savor the experience. Had the lunch special on a Thursday $34 (choice of app <chose miso soup>, 6 nigiri pieces <chose lean tuna, churo toro, A5 wagyu> , and 2 hand rolls <chose lobster, unagi>) The service was EXCELLENT, watching the chef cut the fish was watching an artisan. The fish was the most tender I've ever had, it simply melted in my mouth. (and i've been eating sushi for several decades) We both commented our teeth didn't have to work. Friend ordered $34 special as well: Tuna Tataki; Wagyu, Chu Toro, Ikura; Spicy Tuna, Wagyu The mochi was delicious- first time i've had mochi and liked it. Had Dragon Fruit, and Mango. The mochi outer layer was super thin, smooth, and creamy. Not at all chewy/gummy. Had we had time we totally would have returned for the Happy Hour 3-6 where everything is $5. I was stunned that we were able to walk right in, find a spot to sit and eat. Chain or not, this place is incredible. I am most definitely returning, if I was closer I'd be going every week.
This is such a joy of a place, fast, fresh, and friendly meals, w a good soundtrack. We've gone for the happy hour 4-5 times and despite not living in the neighborhood, we've been going to appointments nearby and stopping here before or after has lifted our spirits, especially the crispy rice w spicy tuna and the lobster rolls!!!
Good happy hour menu and the lady working at the bar was very sweet.
Incredibly fresh sushi and great value for the lunch menu. Wonderful staff
This is my absolute favorite sushi spot on the UES. The wagyu and lobster rolls are 💯 and the staff is so friendly I thought they were trained by Danny Meyer. Literally eat here 4–5x/week and wish I could afford to eat here every night!!
Amazing service and delicious hand rolls, sushi, sashimi, everything on the menu was outstanding!! We will definitely return when we return to NY!!
Sandra & Cynthia made my friend’s birthday soooo magical and the service was spot on! Food was fantastic. Could not be more thankful for such a great experience! Thank y’all!
The staff here is so wonderful. I’m a member of their rewards program and got $5 for my birthday. The staff is so on top of things, and wonderful about offering recommendations! I love their truffle avocado roll & the spicy crab. Also their white rice is amazing! It has a little touch of vinegar which makes it taste so yummy. Thank you to Stella who was the staff member who helped me today. She was so nice and it was such a lovely experience! The packaging is super cute too!
Sandra is the best and this is the only place in NYC I go for sushi. Have told all of my co workers to come. This is the. EST quality of sushi at the best prices. Atmosphere is amazing too
Sasha is the best bartender and greatest waitress we’ve ever had. David is also phenomenal and very fun. Atmosphere was great.
I go to the take out window quite frequently and the staff is so friendly. Sushi and bowls are so fresh and flavorful!
Bondi is the best sushi restaurant in the upper east side, let alone the whole city. From the excellent food to the amazing workers. The people who take your order, especially Sandra and David, are spectacular. The manager, Curtis always greets you with a smile and a nice conversation. WOULD RECOMEND
The spicy tuna crispy rice was delicious!! Wonderful experience overall.
From the moment we walked in, we had the most incredible experience. We had a little bit of everything and every bite was made in front of us. We can’t wait to come back to NYC and enjoy this wonderful food and hospitality. Thank you, Bondi sushi.
I’ve been all over and I have tried many sushi. Restaurants Japan included… This by far was one of the best.. Today was my first time at this location, but not the last.. amazing place..
Outstanding sushi Every.Single.Time. We ate at the bar this time which was so great…kids got to watch the chef prepare everything fresh. Mochi is a must at the end. Excellent service. Overall outstanding in every way.
I place one order there and everything was great. The food was super tasty and fresh. The girl who was in the counter helped me was really nice she helped me pick the sushi I wanted, and it was ready right on time.
Had a wonderful dining experience! Our server, Su, was incredibly welcoming and kind from the start. She made us feel right at home, was attentive throughout the meal, and had such a warm energy. The food was great, but Su’s service truly made our visit special. We'll definitely be back — thank you, Su!
I love the rolls from Bondi, I usually get the Truffle oil avocado roll with Miso soup and it is so delightful, very rich in flavor. Bondi is great, from the packaging to the food, always very detailed.
Really loved the yuzu and lobster handroll and their spicy tuna handroll was exquisteeeee. Such friendly and lovely staff, happy hour is the way to go
Sandra is absolutely the best! I meet a friend here for lunch every so often because the food is so good. Sandra makes us feel at home and we love her!
One of my top sushi spots in the city. It’s fantastic. Food is amazing and they make you feel at home!
Great happy hour from 3-6pm on weekdays ($5 handrolls!!) Also daily $34 lunch special, great prices for this neighborhood and such an upscale restaurant. Service and atmosphere was lovely too, I recommend bar seats so you can see the food being prepared!
We went for lunch. The service was very friendly. The food is very good quality. The fish is fresh and full of flavor. It feels and tastes like an authentic Japanese sushi bar. Totally recommend. Wish I'd taken pictures, but then I was too busy eating.
I came here on my lunch break and was lucky to run into Curt the manager of the store! He gave me extra quick service so Id have enough time to eat during my short break. This will definitely be my new go to lunch spot and I’ll be coming back with my friends soon!!
Sandra is the best waitress in the whole world. She’s amazing. She knows you so well and pays such good attention 10 out of 10 recommend
Perfect experience from start to finish. Hendra was an attentive and friendly waiter and the food was outstanding. Highly recommend !
I walked in and Cynthia helped me pick a roll. I paid. Then realized I wanted crispy rice. Curtis the manager over heard me and said you know what try it on me! Such nice people and the food is delicious!!! Thank you Cynthia and Curtis for being so kind!!
Bondi is consistently delicious the deals are AMAZING and if you have the pleasure of running into Kurt you will be very well taken care of. Love this place
Amazing quality sushi! And the manager is very very nice and accommodating. Highly recommend!
My wife and I have become regulars at Bondi UES. Their food is nothing short of incredible with some of the best made and freshest sushi you can get in all of Manhattan. Dine in and watch how fast it arrives. Their staff is professional and truly genuine. I wish I could give more than 5 stars.
As always, the food from Bondi was top notch. What made this dinner extra special was that I mistakenly placed an order for pick up when I needed delivery. I called Bondi and they were able to make the switch for me and had my order at my door about 15 minutes later. Fabulous service and a wonderful meal.
If only there were 6 stars! Sandra is absolutely perfect. The happy hour was great, but Sandra is the true star. Food was great too :) can’t wait to come back.
Staff gives such great customer service, I always feel welcomed coming in & the sushi is so good! Have recommended it since I found it.
Great staff and very friendly. The atmosphere is modern and cozy . The sashimi was the perfect temperature and texture. The spicy tuna crispy rice was delicious.
Kurt the manager and chef Dowa are the most amazing, polite, accommodating and absolutely giving. It is the most fresh over the top fish/ sushi I have ever tasted. I am literally here 2 times a day. It is addicting. The service, cleanliness, friendly like family tone and truly making you feel like home:) my son in law has a sushi restaurant and I still always come here:)
The service and the food was so good. They acknowledged my friends and I as soon as we got there and provided us with menus and service immediately. I had the spicy tuna and crispy rice, sashimi, and hand rolls that tasted so good. The prices are good and so is the quality of the food. I’ve already been there multiple times and would definitely go back there in the future.
My favorite Sushi spot … the service & food is top tier. The manager Curtis at UES location is engaging & always wants customers to have a great experience. My favorite server is Sandra - she is very knowledgeable re: menu & tailors to your liking
This was the best and most delicious sushi I’ve ever had. Everything was prepared fresh right in front of us, and you could really taste the quality. Absolutely amazing — wow. Highly recommended!
Food was so good! Ordered the salmon crispy rice and unagi avocado hand roll. Both were delicious! Service was great! Very friendly and nice atmosphere watching your food get made. Would definitely recommend!
Amazing place to get a light bite of sushi. The fish is always fresh and the staff is very attentive. I tend to come by myself to eat and I have a fantastic experience every time
Bondi Sushi is such a great find! The sushi rolls are super fresh and full of flavor — you can really taste the quality in every bite. They have a nice mix of classic rolls and creative ones, and everything is beautifully made without feeling overcomplicated. The place has a cool, modern vibe that’s perfect for a casual dinner or quick sushi fix. Service is fast and friendly, and the portions are just right. Definitely one of my go to spots in the city when I am in the area and just want something quick and filling.
Bondi on Third Ave is always a reliable go-to spot, especially when I need a quick pickup after work. Curtis was working the counter today, and I’ve honestly never seen someone go so above and beyond for every customer who walked through the door. His attention to detail and friendly attitude made the experience exceptional. Impeccable customer service like no other!
Hello i am writing from my girlfriends phone because i do not have a gmail. Wanted to say the sushi was absolutely phenomenal. Best ive had in NYC. The free cookie was also very thoughtful (and yummy).
Amazing service once again! Su was fantastic — not only warm and welcoming, but also super knowledgeable. She gave us a great recommendation for sake that paired perfectly with our meal. Her attention to detail and friendly vibe really elevated the whole experience. Can’t wait to come back!
I would 100% will recommend. The atmosphere was great and very accommodating. I have some allergy concerns, Cinthia was very helpful and reassuring. She expressed a lot of interest and took her time to make sure I could get the best experience since it was my first time here. I felt well taken cared of. Will be back soon.
Sandra’s the real MVP—hostess with the mostest, no question. Bondi Sushi hits every mark: chill vibes, awesome service, and sushi that’s seriously fresh. Pro tip: hit up the lunch special or slide in for happy hour. Start with the Heaven Sake Flight 3—three smooth pours that vibe perfectly with the sushi lineup. Easily some of the best fish on the Upper East.
This is hands down one of the best sushi experiences I've had in New York. The service was impeccable and the staff was knowledgeable about the menu and recommended their favorites which are now mine! Getting to watch the chef handcraft the rolls and crispy rice was epic. Not only did I enjoy the food, it was also my birthday and they made sure I felt special with a delicious desert and sake! Will definitely be coming back soon!
Very good atmosphere and the front desks were very nice. However, I ate a crab shell out of my sushi and also the sushi rice is on a more mushy side like someone else had also mentioned. It could have been made into mochi or rice cake if you play with it more.
Bondi is a neat spot. There is one big island bar with bar seating all around. They also have a takeout side where they do a bunch of business. Went with the $32 lunch special. They also have a $26 one. The salmon sashimi and crispy rice were delicious. The sushi was well made and fresh. I bet they do more takeout than dine in. A little more pricey than your typical neighborhood sushi place. Good not great.
Got some take out for a picnic in Central Park. There’s a separate take out counter where your food will be ready to go. It’s always a nice surprise when staff are kind and trying to accommodate your needs, which was the case today. The way that the food was packaged was neat and user-friendly, perfect for a picnic. And as for the food itself, everything was savory and quite good. Happy with my experience today and planning to go back for a dine in experience.
The sushi chefs seem to rotate and only once did I see one take the art seriously. Several didn't care about thickness in cut or timing. Sometimes service is attentive and sometimes focused on socializing.
Use to order pickup and delivery all the time here esp 2021,22,23 the most recent times I’ve done pickup the order has either been not prepared on time, the takeout cashier was putting their hands on their mouth and nose then handling the sushi boxes without hand wash, sushi presentation was poor and looked slipped in the box. My partner emailed them about our issues and never heard back.
The food was acceptable however the order taking and serving was very confused with the chef asking what we ordered and what piece goes to what person from our party of four. All the plates got mixed up. When I mentioned this to the manager he actually started by saying we are confused before he apologized. It’s a chain and my expectations might have been too high.
Bondi Sushi on the Upper East Side receives a two-star rating due to a disappointing overall experience. While the restaurant may have some redeeming qualities, there are notable aspects that fall short of expectations. The ambiance at Bondi Sushi may not live up to the standards expected for a sushi establishment. Whether it’s the decor, lighting, or general atmosphere, there seems to be room for improvement to create a more inviting and enjoyable dining environment. Additionally, the culinary experience, which is crucial for a sushi restaurant, leaves something to be desired. Whether it’s the freshness of the ingredients, the execution of rolls, or the overall flavor profile, there are perceived shortcomings that contribute to the two-star rating.
My server was inpatient. He also disappeared and never returned. My order was taken poorly. Also added an order to my bill that they claim they could not remove. Very disappointed. I would not recommend. Find another location before coming to this one. Good quality sushi in my opinion
The location is kind of confusing. I wish they’d have a host there to ask if you were there for takeout or if you wanted to dine in. I didn’t realize there was a dine in place until after i ordered. I would never take out from this place again. The takeout was subpar. There was absolutely no love put into this food. Completed in 5 minutes? The seaweed was so chewy. Like beyond chewy. Kind of disgusting if you ask me. The price is ridiculous, could have gotten better quality and it would have been cheaper at kazunori. To top it off, their beverages options are limited. They charged close to $5 for a can of sprite? Like what? High way robbery. You can already tell that the dine in process was probably better. Maybe would try again but it has to be dine in because take out, this place doesn’t care.
Don’t let the trendy branding fool you it is terrible sushi and horribly over priced - the fish quality was mediocre, the rice was over cooked and gummy, and the rolls weren't even fully cut through. It is honestly on par with super market sushi but costs 3 times as much. Go to literally any other sushi restaurant.
We ordered Uber from here and got food poisoning. Jokes on us eating raw food I guess. We had the lobster yuzu, crab, mushroom, and a bunch of salmon rolls Besides that, agree with comments on grocery store quality- it's the rice's mushy and sticky texture and mismatched ratio that gives it away. Not worth the price point- similar store concepts like Joji box do it better. The delivery order was timely with no delays.
This was the worst sushi I’ve ever had. The rice and seaweed was so soggy and mushy I couldn’t eat it. The crab also tasted very very weird and made me nauseous. Don’t recommend especially for $35 box
I order from them frequently, well actually every few weeks or once I’ve forgotten how bad the experience was the time before... 9 out of 10 times they adjust the delivery time - say 30-45 minutes when placing order, then will continuously delay it until it’s 2 hours or more. They don’t answer the phone at the restaurant if you call to check your order. There are lots of average sushi restaurants in NYC, Bondi is unique in they have consistently terrible service
Worst sushi experience of my life. My office order from here regularly, I never part take because I feel the fish isn't great quality. Regardless of that, time has passed and I thought to give this place another try. Today, I ordered the hotbox. In my SECOND bite I find a SHARP BONE in the yellowtail roll. This place is absolutely disgusting. Please do better.
Awful!! Unedible!! Nothing like the photos on the site!! The spicy tuna crispy rice was cold and hard, and the ginger seaweed salad never arrived. So I phoned them and was informed that they no longer make it, even though it remains listed on the menu, and I was charged for it. However, they have not yet removed the charge from my account. Not ordering from them again.
HUGE SAFETY RISK— I want to give it zero stars but it wouldn’t let me! We had a huge scare with sushi ordered from this place on Saturday. While chewing on the spicy salmon roll, I felt like there was something hard to chew on inside the roll. I was hoping it was just maybe a bone of the salmon (which shouldn’t be there in a roll) so I spit it out. I discovered two tiny pieces of shards of either very sharp plastic or glass. I notified Uber eats and bondi sushi immediately due to the SAFETY concern. I also sent the picture below (note tiny pieces of shard on the left hand side) to the manager. No one has called me back from that place. So to top the SAFETY concern, it feels there is negligence too. To be fair, this isn’t the first time I or my family have ordered from here. We’ve never had a concern before. But we will not be ordering from here ever again. PLEASE BE CAREFUL!
I went info lunch take out on 3/2 1pm Excited to see a Togo My disappointment 1. The server put my box in sideways it’s like watching your pizza box go upside down 2. Got to the office rolls were not presentable all do them not even cut all the way 3. One roll from my box was completely sour 4 when I called 5x time for solution no answer and disconnected I would love someone to actually talk to
This has by far been the worst experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Our group of 9 (split in groups of 4, 3, 2 since max amount of people for a reservation was 4) came in for their unlimited handroll promotion and the moment we came in, we already had to wait 10 mins before being seated. Ok, a slight wait was not an issue at the moment. Upon sitting down, some of us were missing plates and sauce plates. Ok, not a problem asking them to retrieve those. The REAL and CATASTROPHIC problem came when we started ordering. They took our order for the crispy rice appetizer and their premium nigiri set prior to ordering hand rolls. Some of us got theirs and others didn’t. They THEN proceed to take the orders for the hand rolls of the ones who received their appetizers and nigiri set and start to make and hand some of those orders out while the rest of us didn’t get our initial items yet. We eventually got our items 30 mins after seating. As the reservation went on, each and every one of us sporadically had to wait and get whatever they were making at the time. As time was coming to an end, the dessert was suppose to be a lava cake. However, the manager stated that they unfortunately no longer had anymore lava cake and asked us if we wanted mochi. As he unwrapped the mochi from the package in front of us, another group (predominately non-Asian), had the option to get crème brûlée. Not once was that offered to us in replacement of the lava cake. Furthermore, throughout the dinner, the staff members that took our orders continuously cheered and drank sake instead of working on fixing our orders while we had to mention to the chefs that some of the orders we placed was not what we got. Instead, whenever they noticed we were a bit upset, they would offer another shot of sake, stating it was “on them” even though it was advertised that it was unlimited in the promotion.
I had an incredibly disappointing experience at this sushi place. The service was terrible from the start — I waited way too long for a server to even acknowledge me. Meanwhile, the cook behind the bar was more interested in chatting with another cook about personal stuff, laughing, and smiling without any regard for the customers. What really shocked me was seeing the cook talking on the phone while working, which is not only unprofessional but also unhygienic. I can't help but think about the bacteria being introduced into the food! To top it off, the prices are way too high for this kind of subpar service and carelessness. I do not recommend this place at all.
