Opinions de Bryant Park Café New York
Very sad to hear they may close!! Went last night and had a great time, chatting with thr amazing bartender, and meeting some kind strangers. I looked around at the bar and noticed how diverse and happy everyone seems to be. This is NY. I hope it stays open
The service is excellent 👌. I was alone and everyone that served me on Saturday September 6th was so personable. The food was very good, I was there last year with my husband and we both enjoyed our meal. Thank you.
August in NYC and we wanted to dine al fresco for lunch... the Bryant Park Cafe is an excellent choice! Good, fast service, a full-service bar, and very good food choices whether tourists or, like us, locals. Their specialty cocktails are well thought out for the season. We had the Summer Nights (vodka with passionfruit) and Takes Dos To Tango, (tequila with mango). The battered shrimp tacos were topped with guacamole, spicy salsa, lime creme fraiche and chopped salad. Three of them served on soft corn tortillas and they were outstanding. The Mediterranean Chicken entree was grilled chicken with orzo, artichokes, tomatoes, olives, capers, onions and feta cheese drizzled with olive oil - a super healthy, light entree perfect for a warm August afternoon. For dessert, we tried the recommended carrot cake, which was moist, nutty and delicious. I recommend BP Cafe for anyone in Midtown who wants a good, tasty meal in a beautiful outdoor setting.
We were fortunate to be able to eat outside overlooking the park. The food arrived quickly, and the ambiance was great. I'm giving the service a 4 out of 5 star. Servers kept wanting to take our food away while we were still eating. It happened 3 times. We were chatting, and there weren't any lines waiting for tables. While we couldn't understand this, I figured I would mention it here. When we were done, they cleared the dishes, and we asked for the check. It took over 10 minutes to het that. I'm glad we made it to our function on time. I would back again or the restaurant next store, I beliethey own the Market Grille. Thank you.
I must say the staff here are exceptional, from the moment you’re greeted from the host to the server who takes care of you bravo to the whole staff! The food here is good pretty standard not gonna win any awards but the area is a bit Of a dead Zone so what can ya do.! My server was great, the kitchen messed up my shrimp tacos (was requested to be grilled but came out fried) all good I ate them anyways. But she (my server) felt a bit bad even though wasn’t her fault and gave me a complimentary glass of wine. Will return when I’m in the hood!
We were at the Maker's Market and decided to eat lunch at the Cafe. We were seated immediately. Staff was very friendly. Service by Tiffany was awesome. She was attentive and came around to check often. Water was filled as needed. I shared a Jerusalem platter and quesadilla with my cousin. The hummus and pita were delicious and filling. The quesadilla was filled with cheese and great also. We did not leave hungry. And, the prices were not unreasonable, especially for the location. While the proximity to the traffic of 40th st made for a loud distraction, that is the "charm" of the city. We would 100% visit again.
Lovely venue with great outdoors dining (covered and uncovered). Great menu selection, however the lunch menus felt more like a dinner menu but the food was delicious. Tad pricey for lunch, so be ready for that. On a nice day, it's a great place to go and enjoy the weather and have a nice meal. Was impressed how fast the food was served.
A great afternoon spot to enjoy good food and great company. We ordered a few items off their dessert menu and were happy with the variety of sweet treats. A light, tropical carrot cake was the tables favorite. The sorbets had big refreshing flavors. The chocolate cake was dense and could have use more of the mousse. It was wonderful to people watch and enjoy the sun and shade.
Bryant Park was a nice surprise. The landscaping was beautiful and the vibe was relaxed. The food at the Cafe was pretty good!
Food is delicious. Not anything crazy and a little over priced but it is cause of the location. Drink was delicious. My server was amazing and gave me great recommendations, was quick but not annoying. It was the perfect spot to have my lunch break and watch the Broadway in Bryant Park. Nice outdoor spot to lunch if you are ok with spending 30-60 on lunch. The sandwich was delicious and very filling And drink was perfect on the hot day that it was.
After touring the New York Public Library (a must-see!!!), my guest & I grabbed lunch at Bryant Park Café. Outside seating was shaded with great views of the park & passers-by. Our server was courteous, efficient & attentive. I really enjoyed the BBQ Pork Slider with fries. While lunch prices were high (even for New York), I figure you're paying for the view & ambiance. And as a tourist, you're going to splurge anyway. So yes, I'd eat here again.
Im going to start highlighting the positive: the food was absolutely delicious, the atmosphere was enjoyable and the music was perfect. Now, when we arrived the restaurant had other three tables which were pretty much served, after been on the table, it took the waiter 10 mins to take our order. Then, after we were done with the appetizer, it took them another 10 mins to remove the dirty dishes and bring the entree (we were still the last people who entered the restaurant at that moment)… Then at the end, the waiter brought us the check with a circle highlighting the tip suggestions, which I consider to be unnecessary and at the same time kind of rude… The meal was delicious again, but it wasn’t such an amazing experience due to this mistakes…
The setting is beautiful thanks to the park, but unfortunately, the food, wine, and service didn’t meet expectations. Although there were plenty of outdoor tables, we were asked what we planned to eat before being seated, as only full menu diners are allowed outside. Once seated, we felt pressured by how often the server encourage us to order more. As soon as they brought the check, it was clear we couldn’t stay any longer. Overall, it was an uncomfortable experience despite the lovely location.
We ordered 2 drinks here - I then realised after walking off, that I was given the wrong drink so when I went to change it, the lady opened my drink and poured it back into the machine!!! I was shocked, never have I ever seen that done before let alone infront of me… luckily I hadn’t drunk any which she didn’t know or good job I didn’t put anything in my drink ! Terrible.
I’m writing this review with deep disappointment and frustration after my recent experience at this Cafe near Bryant Park, a place I used to love and visit almost every weekend , often with my family. Unfortunately, what happened on Tuesday, May 27th around 3:10 PM has completely changed the way I see this place. I simply asked if I could have a small cup of tap water. Instead of a kind response, three men behind the bar — who appeared to be waitresses — stared at me, and one of them abruptly shouted “Please.” in a loud, condescending tone, as if scolding me. I was taken aback and needed a moment to process what he meant. While I stood there confused, all three continued staring at me in silence, clearly expecting me to say “please” like a command. When I finally realized what they were implying and said “please,” they smirked and gave me the water while giggling amongst themselves, as if they were trying to make me seem like i was begging for A CUP OF TAP WATER. It was so humiliating, disrespectful, and made me feel deeply uncomfortable — as if I was being mocked for not speaking “correctly” or politely enough in their eyes. It was form of racial discrimination, and it left me shocked and hurt. I CANT BELIEVE THIS HAPPENED IN THE MIDDLE OF NEW YORK CITY, ESPECIALLY IN 2025. I have supported this cafe as a loyal customer for years, but this kind of behavior is completely unacceptable — especially from a place that prides itself on HOSPITALITY. No guest should be made to feel embarrassed or belittled, especially over something as simple as asking for a cup of tap water. I hope management takes this incident seriously and provides proper hospitality training for the staff members working at the bar on May 27th, 3:10. Until then, I will not be returning, and I strongly urge others to reconsider supporting a place that treats people this way. And as a person who works in hospitality business, this form of behavior cannot happen unless you really LOOK DOWN a customer.
