Opinions de Casa Mono New York
Casa Mono is an absolute gem! The food is exceptionally creamy and rich, offering some great Spanish tapas. The service was top-notch—attentive, friendly, and professional. We devoured the scallops, the incredibly tender goat confit, the flavorful skirt steak, and the perfect starters of burrata and patatas (all fantastic). Every dish was a winner. If you like rich, flavor-packed food, put this tapas spot at the top of your list!
Fantastic tapas restaurant right in the city. It's easy to see why this place has received and retained its Michelin Star. Menu was creative with tons of options and lots of intrigue. Service was excellent, very friendly and engaging and helped make suggestions when we just couldn't decide between a few options. The in-house sommelier was awesome, incredibly knowledgeable and on-point with his recommendations. Atmosphere inside the restaurant was a great vibe as well and overall, everything is very reasonably priced. A must-go in NYC.
Was there for a quick bite and drink. Place is cool, nice vibe with low lightning, the food is good but nothing out of this world. Service on the other hand was outstanding, they are well trained and have full knowledge of what they have to offer. Shoutout to our waiter Carlos he was super chill, fast and attentive the whole time. We Even thought he was our main server, turned out he was the runner! He gave us great recommendations from the city without even asking.
This review is lonngggg overdue. We were staying in the city and searched for Spanish restaurants to have dinner and found Casa Mono. I was really blown away by the service (very fast and very efficient workers). The Sommelier was simply awesome and a master at his craft. The wines that he selected paired very nicely with my meal. Every single item that we had were done to perfection; no wonder why they have so many Michelin stars ⭐️. They deserve it all. We never had to call for our plates to be removed and didn’t have to wait long to be served. I will most definitely be coming here again.
This was a special experience! I did not know until mid meal that this was a Michelin Star restaurant, but it did not surprise me as the quality of the food was next level. The flavor combinations were incredible and made you take a moment to appreciate the diversity of them, usually with my eyes closed, moaning. I had to ask questions when I just could not figure out what a certain flavor was, and it just questioned my whole palatte in general. Made me rethink what I want to do at home with my cooking. Overall, fantastic and highly recommended!
Tapas, but not what you would typically expect! Every dish took me by surprise and I tried several things I'd never had before. I can find no complaints about the food, the service, or the atmosphere. All of the servers were very friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was very relaxed. They have a sommelier on staff who will gladly help you find the perfect wine to suit your palate! (Just ask about the price per glass first if you're concerned lol) Would definitely go back to try other dishes based on my experience with the first!
Excellent food, well-deserving of those Michelin stars! Just high quality Spanish tapas with good ingredients in a pretty laid back environment. The lamb belly and mushrooms were especially delightful. The only issue was that the place gets PACKED and LOUD between the pounding music and the throngs of people packed into a small space. The servers do their best but it clearly seems hard to keep up.
We absolutely loved every dish (too numerous to list so I assume everything is at the same high level). The service was friendly and was at the perfect level of attentiveness. The ambiance is casual and relaxed. We ate outside on a cool night and were quite comfortable. The wines were well served by the very knowledgeable sommelier. I can’t recommend Casa Mono enough and look forward to returning in the nearest future.
🔥 Absolutely delicious! 🔥 This place is a must-visit if you love tapas! 😍 ✨ Favorites: ✅ Pan con Tomate – Simple but packed with flavor! So addictive. ✅ Garlic Clams – Perfectly cooked with a rich, garlicky sauce. I wanted to dip everything in it! ✅ Avocado & Goat Cheese – Creamy, tangy, and just the right amount of indulgence. I could eat this every day! 🍮 Dessert Magic: I tried Crème Brûlée and Fried Bay Leaves, and WOW! Never had anything like the bay leaves before—so crispy and full of flavor. I already went back for a second visit, and guess what? Still AMAZING! 🤩 If you’re in Manhattan and craving tapas, do yourself a favor and check this place out! 🔥🔥🔥
20 years of great service and food. I'm really happy that I was able to enjoy this anniversary tasting menu . The food and wine pairing were exceptional. There were a lot of great chefs in the building for this very special event . This place is more than a restaurant it is an institution where up and coming Chefs get their inspiration from. Over the top experience.
Food was absolutely delicious with beautiful presentation. We sat at the chef table/bar and watched all the different dishes come out and got to interact with with the chefs asking questions about the food. It was my birthday so we didn't mind to splurge but still found the prices to be reasonable considering the amount of food and wine we ordered: 4 glasses of wine, 6 tapas, 2 desserts for under $300 including tip. I even took home leftovers. We ordered the olives, artichokes, Burrata, oxtail, honey pork, patatas bravas, fresh sorbet, and custard. I will be back to try more!
One Michelin star tapas restaurant with plenty of outdoor dining - grab a reservation if you can! All of the tapas I’ve tried so far were perfectly cooked and beautifully plated. Casa Mono also has an extensive drink & wine menu that pairs perfectly with their tapas! It does get a bit cold depending on where you are seated for outdoor dining so come prepared! Check out my food page @chiuventure for a closer look and more details of my dining experience here as well as other establishments in NYC and around the world!
Michelin star dining at its best! This place came highly recommended and I can totally see why. All of the flavors were vibrant and exciting. Many of the items we ordered were part of the original menu from 20 years ago. You must have the bone marrow... You can thank me later!
Excellent food. Every single tapas is unique and full of flavor. Ingredients are very fresh. This place is at a totally different level compared to Boqueria. Reservation required. Recommend razor clam, scallop, uni and egg, and goat belly. They are all full of surprises. Service is friendly too.
Casa Mono absolutely blew me away. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, intimate, and authentically Spanish — the kind of place where you can tell every detail is done with care. The food was exceptional across the board — creative yet deeply comforting. Every dish had layers of flavor that showed true craftsmanship. The small plates were perfectly portioned for sharing, and each one was better than the last. The wine list was top-notch, with the staff offering thoughtful pairings that matched the food perfectly. Service was excellent — attentive without being overbearing, friendly, and genuinely passionate about the food and wine. You could tell they love what they do. It’s the kind of restaurant that reminds you why dining out in New York is special. Cozy, lively, delicious — Casa Mono is a true gem. Highly recommend it for anyone who loves bold flavors and great energy.
We had an incredible time at casa monos! I love their wine collection! Their tapas are great as well! The atmosphere was a little loud and the place we were seated was cramped. Other than that we enjoyed our night and the service was excellent! Our server damian was warm and friendly. 💯 we will definitely come again to try other tapas and we recommend!
We had a wonderful dinner here! Every dish we ordered was delicious. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was really nice. Can’t wait to be back and try other items on the menu. Chef Michelle is absolutely fantastic!
Wow. What an incredible experience. This was our first Michelin starred restaurant we've ever been to, and it exceeded our expectations. Vibe: The restaurant is small, loud, and crowded. However, don't let that deter you from going. It's all part of the experience, it really feels like you're at a cozy tapas bar in Spain. The tables are tightly squeezed next to each other, so I would recommend getting a seat at the bar or (preferably) the chefs counter. Service: The service was great, a little slow at times, but they seemed a little short staffed and it was a very busy night so we weren't upset about it. The waiter was knowledgeable and gave great recommendations, and the sommelier helped us choose what drinks we should get. Food: The food was incredible, truly one of the best meals I've ever had. We got the Ensalada Mono, the Scallops, the lamb belly, the pork meatballs, and the seasonal dessert (some sort of fruit crisp). It was all fantastic. Highlights were definitely the Lamb Belly and the Scallops. The salad was also very good and a really large portion. The meatballs, while still excellent, were probably the least exciting dish of the night. The dessert was also fabulous, and they even brought us a special scoop of house made cream fraiche ice cream on the house. Drink: They have a dedicated Spritz menu, which we ordered two spritzes each from. They were all really good and refreshing, perfect for a hot summer night in NYC. Price: The price was actually very reasonable given the quality of the food. The total bill for 4 dishes, 4 cocktails, and 1 dessert was $220 including tax & a 20% tip. Some of our other, far lesser tasting meals in NYC were more expensive than that, so we were really pleased with the price. Final Notes: If you're in Manhattan and looking to try a Michelin starred restaurant without breaking the bank, give Casa Mono a try, you won't be disappointed. If you like fine dining but places like Per Se and 11 Madison Park intimidate you, Casa Mono will be a breath of fresh air.
My daughter has been waiting to dine at Casa Mono for a while, and I finally saved it for a special moment with me. We didn’t have a reservation, but the hostess was gracious enough to tell us to come back around 5 pm and try to sit at the bar. We took the chance, and it worked out—such a great start! As soon as we sat down, I was immediately taken by the Michelin stars and the creative, intricate menu. With a huge wine selection, we tried two excellent wines: the Ganeta 2024 and Cisteller Verbana. A special moment was when our waiter poured the wine from a small carafe, holding it about three feet above the glass, never missing a drop. He explained it was to capture the effervescence of the wine—how wonderful! For food, we went with the Pan con Tomate, Arroz Negro, and Fluke Crudo. The flavors were absolutely magnificent, with the fluke crudo especially standing out—there was a beautiful hint of citrus that really brought everything to life.
Great food, and even better service. A Michelin-star restaurant at a lower price than most others. Really delicious across the board, but we especially liked the pork meatballs with sepia, the oxtail dish, and the Mono salad with manchego. Service was fantastic, and our server helped us choose dishes that rounded out our menu and an excellent wine that fit our budget. It's a small space, so reserve ahead. We ate inside, but the "covered outdoor seating" looked and felt very comfortable as we walked through, even on a January night.
Casa Mono is arguably the finest tapas restaurant in the U.S. I say this with confidence because I’ve traveled across the country and sampled tapas from coast to coast—nothing compares to Casa Mono. The Razor Clams alone brought me to the verge of tears—perfectly cooked, delicately seasoned, and bursting with fresh, ocean flavor. That’s exactly how seafood should taste. If you’re even remotely into Spanish cuisine, do not miss this place. Seriously.
Quaint spot, I sat at the bar so I can see the dishes being prepared.. Leila was a sweet waitress. The goat avocado dish was prepared in under 8mins and was delectable. A bottle of still water was $10 but all worth the tasty experience. The best olives and chewy bread was a good little tease before the main course
My experience at Casa Mono was nothing short of extraordinary! I arrived without any prior knowledge of the restaurant, which made my lunch an unexpected surprise. Every dish was an incredible mastery of flavor and balance, making it impossible to pick a stand out dish. The ambiance was cozy and charming, with a beautifully intimate interior and the added touch of an open kitchen. Christian, my server, was a true gem—knowledgeable, attentive, and offering excellent recommendations that made the meal that much better. I can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough, thanks Casa Mono!
Bone marrow is fire must try— fatty bone marrow paired with the bread is heaven in earth. Mono salad was surprisingly very good; the seasoning and nuts made it unique and added to the texture of the salad. The cheese added milkiness to balance out the grassy taste of the vegetable. The uni snd egg was a simple dish but very fresh and comforting. Nothing missed really it’s just the fact that they made me wait outside in 33 degree weather because the other members of the party weren't there yet. There wasn't much of a waiting space and the whole restaurant is a bit squishy. Go for the food, not the vibes.
Food was really good, especially sweetbread and beef steak. Despite some sand in the seafood, it was perfectly cooked. When we ordered dessert, a waiter brought a check so we paid a bill before finishing our dinner. I didn’t like that. Also, I didn’t like a paper on the floor in bathroom. I gave 5 stars just because I was generous that day.
Overall great experience, I grew up in Spain and I've been looking for good Spanish restaurants in the city because there aren't many good ones in my opinion. The arroz negro and the goat was very good. Service was great and prices weren't crazy like other Michelin star restaurants. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
We had an 8:45 reservation for Casa Mono, and knowing it's popular, we expected a bit of a wait. The hostess was polite and directed us to wait outside, right in front of the bar next door (which seems to be part of the same group). However, things got a little awkward when a server came to clear a table my friend was standing near. While we understood he needed to clean, his tone felt genuinely annoyed and frustrated. Then, when we asked if we could sit there afterward, he practically shouted, "No, there's a group of customers inside who wants this table, but if you get a bottle of wine, we'll seat you here." That felt not only calculated but honestly quite aggressive to all of us. Even though my friends who've been before raved about the food, this initial interaction wasn't a great start. Thankfully, we were finally seated after a bit of a wait. We got our menus and ordered. The sommelier, whose name I couldn't catch over the loud music, completely turned things around with a fantastic, fruity wine suggestion. His hospitality was a breath of fresh air, and the wine itself was delicious! I'm actually a little sad I didn't catch the name of it. Then came the food – and wow. That first bite of the razor clam was just heavenly. And the open sandwich with tomato and garlic underneath? Also absolutely heavenly. Not to mention the burrata with grapefruit and oil? Ooooof. And that fish with coconut sauce? Ooooof. It instantly made sense why this place has a Michelin star. Seriously, those dishes were that good. Everything else that followed was also exceptional; I have absolutely no complaints about the food itself. The vibe is very New York – tight quarters, servers occasionally bumping into you (par for the course), and loud music that can make conversation a little challenging at times. But honestly, that seems to be part of its charm – bustling, busy, and that quintessential tight NYC energy. It would be a great spot for a date where you really want to feel that New York buzz. The bathroom was also surprisingly clean, which is always a plus. This meal was a treat, so I'm not sure of the exact cost, but based on a quick look at the menu, it definitely doesn't seem like the most budget-friendly option. However, it's definitely a place I'd consider returning to for a special treat or occasion.
Now this is a true Michelin Star Restaurant! First of all, the service was great. The waiters and hosts were very kind the minute we stepped into the door. They refilled our drinks for us and even gave us new dish ware and utensils for each round of tapas. Next, the variety of tapas are absolutely delicious. We ordered the skirt steak with romesco, patatas bravas, bacalao croquetas, pulpo a la plancha, and crispy pig ears. My favorite was the skirt steak. It was cooked to perfection and topped with the best garnishes. For dessert, we ordered the catalan pudding, which was also good. Overall, the food here was LIFE CHANGING. My only complaint is that the inside area was very hot even with the fan spinning over head.
Nestled near Union Square, this Michelin-starred gem brings a refreshing blend of elegance and ease, offering a relaxed ambiance that’s perfect for a working lunch or an unwinding evening. The tapas selection here is outstanding. The crispy pig ears with apple are a standout – light, perfectly crunchy, and balanced with a hint of sweetness. The braised oxtail is richly tender, layered with deep, satisfying flavors that speak to careful, thoughtful preparation. The foie gras, a highlight, delivers a luxuriously creamy texture and expertly seasoned depth, making each bite memorable. A highly recommended destination in downtown Manhattan for those seeking refined flavors in a casual setting.
What a great dinner and location. The restaurant was very well designed, smaller not too many people. We sat outside and got to enjoy the neighborhood as we dined. We had a great wine recommendation and picked food options from the menu. All were fantastic! The staff were very attentive and kind. Our table was a little wobbly and before we even noticed they had a wedge under it to level it out 🤌🏼🙏 highly recommend
Casa Mono was an amazing experience. Have been to many tapas restaurants in NYC and Chicago and this one definitely takes the cake. High quality food, delicious flavors, and decent portion sizes (especially for tapas). Obviously on the pricier side, but for the quality of food and service, it is most definitely worth it. The staff were extremely kind, giving amazing recommendations and being very aware to our party’s needs. They even sent us a dish from the kitchen! And the menu had great variety too, with decent pescatarian options. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for an elevated tapas experience in NYC or to any foodie! (Also highly recommend the jamon, the pan con tomate, and the setas!)
I went here on a date night with my girlfriend after watching a show and I was really pleased with the service and food. The place isn't too big but they did have outdoor seating which we sat at. They also have a outdoor area that's enclosed. The food was delicious, we tried several things as it was tapas style. Portions were tapas amount so we ordered like 7 dishes to share and wasn't full but not hungry at the end of that. We did make the mistake of saying what initial dishes we wanted which they all came out pretty fast so I would recommend ordering as finish a couple of dishes. Service was good as well, our waiter was attentive and helpful. It's a little on the pricey side but you pay for what you get.
Great service. Great food. A little tight seating inside. Very cozy to the next table or the staff walking by. Enjoyed everything we had. My favorites were the fluke crudo, razor clams(just a bit of sand) and the scallops(cooked to perfection!). Didn’t have room for dessert. We had 11 items plus the free bread. They recommend for a party of 3 to order 6-9 dishes.
Casa mono is an awesome. The food is really great. I had a salad and my coworker had the truffles and asparagus. When you’re in the mood for anything from Spain, this is the place to go to. The people there are awesome each of them very kind and nice. The atmosphere is wonderful and the food is just really good. So I’ll give more of a review later, but what more can I say
Everything was great! Unfortunately the wine select was not what Inwas looking for. I was looking for something very smooth and chocolate notes. I did drink what was brough. My guest could not drink the wine it was to tannin. They prefer vodka, however, this place does not have a full bar.
Tapas with unique twist on some traditional small plates. Enjoyed the oxtail, octopus, patata bravas, skirt steak, bacalao croquetes. Appreciated the wine recommendation. Service was great, very intimate space, reservations are required but we were able to get a table during the week. Recommend if you enjoy tapas.
It is on my list for a while and I finally get a chance to visit it! I would recommend lamb, stake and razor clam! Those all taste very good, stake is my favorite, well balanced with onion and pepper flavor. The lamb is my friend’s fav. Personally I was disappointed with scallops. $40 is the most expensive one among all our dishes but scallops are really small 🙁 The service is really good. Our waiter patiently introduced us different kind of wines (I don’t know much about it). Overall I would visit again in the future if I swing by.
After years of walking past Casa Mono in Gramercy, I finally went in. An absolutely glorious dinner was had, and I cannot wait to go back! The menu makes you over order, the vermuts are on point, and the food … I can’t use enough adjectives to convey how good it was! Almost every dish brought out was a straight up banger! My friend and I had our head in our hands after every first bite. DO NOT MISS: Ceviche with coconut leche de Tigre Confit goat Crema Catalina I finally understand why this place has been the standard bearer for Spanish food in NYC for all these years.
I finally got to try Casa Mono in East Village, and I totally get why it’s so popular. It’s a super charming, dainty little Spanish spot with a cozy vibe that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled into a hidden gem in Barcelona. The space is definitely tight—tables are packed pretty close together—but honestly, it adds to the lively, bustling energy of the place. Just don’t expect tons of elbow room! The service was warm and attentive. Our server was really kind and made great recommendations without being pushy. One thing to note: this is more of a tapas-style restaurant, so portions are on the smaller side and the prices are definitely on the higher end—but the quality and flavors make it worth the splurge, in my opinion. As for the food, everything we tried was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. The clams were a standout—fresh, briny, and cooked to perfection. I also loved the pork meatballs, which were juicy and packed with savory depth. You’re greeted with a little dish of olives and bread when you sit down, and even that simple starter was delicious—such a nice welcome touch. We also ordered the flounder, which was good, but probably the least memorable dish we had—I’d say it’s okay to skip if you’re choosing between plates. We tried one of the daily specials as well, which was solid, though the clams and meatballs were the clear stars. Overall, I’d recommend going with a group so you can order a bunch of different dishes to share and get the most out of the experience. The whole place has such a lovely vibe—cute, intimate, and full of character. Whether you live in NYC or are just visiting, Casa Mono is definitely worth checking out for a special night out.
Awesome experience. I love small plates. Anyone complaining about prices is insane. NYC costs + Level of food and Michelin star = you get why you pay for. Stellar food, even met the executive chef who gave us a complimentary dish after chatting with him for a bit on his experiences as a chef. Think I finished the night off with a total of 12 small plates. This is a review from 2023 that I forgot to put. Great experience, great food!
Casa Mono offers delicious Spanish tapas with great service. My husband and I came here for dinner and sat on their covered heated patio section in front of the restaurant. We didn’t have a reservation, so we were glad they could accommodate us. We had the pan con tomate; the croquetas; sardinas fritas; the duck; and multiple other dishes that I don’t think are on the current menu. Everything was tasty, and their service was friendly and responsive.
Some really great quality seafood spot in Gramercy. Definitely on the pricier side, but these dishes are a great introduction for semi-exploratory eaters. Nothing crazy, but good quality ingredients with classic flavors with a modern spin. Some great dishes were the pulpo and razor clam. If you can, I recommend sitting outside on a sunny day.
This place was amazing! The food was great and the service was even better. It's not very big so I'd make reservation for sure. We booked ours over a month in advance. We will definitely be back next time we visit NY. And for a michelin star restaurant the prices are very reasonable. We ordered five items and were plenty full. It was the best shirt steak we've ever had and i think the goat might have been better.
Five stars all the way for Casa Mono. This meal was pure magic from start to finish and easily one of the most memorable standouts even among many great dining experiences. The fluke crudo was the absolute favorite, perfectly balanced and silky with that smooth coconut mouthfeel, and the leche de tigre was so good you could drink it. The burrata with tomato gazpacho was wildly delicious and far exceeded expectations, creamy and luscious with the perfect punch of acidity that made it a lick the bowl clean kind of dish. The bone marrow was decadent and rich, the kind of dish that reminds you why indulgence exists. The shishitos with lemon saffron yogurt were ridiculously good, zippy, tangy, and addictive to the point where I was so full but couldn’t stop eating them. The pan con tomate deserves its own applause, with soft bread, vibrant tomato, coarse salt, and just the right hint of garlic oil. The scallops with serrano had some nice heat and were cooked beautifully, though the garlic was a bit overpowering and the nuts threw off the balance for me. My husband loved them though. The razor clams à la plancha were fine, but definitely not a standout—pleasant, a little fishy, and easily skippable in favor of the other dishes that shine brighter. And then came dessert. The crema catalana with bay leaf beignets was what dreams are made of—divine, creative, and truly one of the best desserts I have ever had. The donuts dusted with sugar and wrapped around bay leaves were unlike anything else. I would go back just for that. The cappuccino was lovely, the wines were superb, and the overall experience felt warm and special. Get two or three dishes per person, plus dessert, and prepare to be rolled out in the happiest, most satisfied food coma imaginable. Casa Mono is an absolute gem and a place I cannot wait to return to!
Fantastic tapas all around. Each dish was tasty, well portioned to share for four people. Main complaint was table space to house all the plates. Bottles of wine recommended by the sommelier were great. We had the Ensalada mono, Sardines with Endives, Razor clams, Pulpo, Fideos, Arroz negro, Pork sobrasada, Skirt steak, Duck breast, Pork meatballs, Patatas bravas, and Artichokes. Fideos were phenomenal, favorite dish of the night. Loved the sardines and Arroz negro as well.
I recently celebrated my Baba’s birthday at Casa Mono, a Michelin starred Spanish restaurant, and it was a truly memorable experience. From the moment we arrived, every detail reflected care and sophistication. We were seated in a cozy, private nook by the wine display a perfect spot for an intimate celebration. Our server, Susan D., was exceptional, guiding us through a four-course tasting that showcased the chef’s skill. Each small plate was packed with flavor, with highlights including Bacalao Croquetas with Orange Alioli, Sardinas Fritas with Endive Ensalada, Pulpo with Fennel & Grapefruit, Skirt Steak with Romesco & Onion Mermelada, Arroz Negro with Sepia & Calabrian Chili, and Pig Ears with Pickled Serrano Peppers & White Grape Vinaigrette. The pacing was leisurely, making it one of the most enjoyable dining experiences we’ve had. For dessert, they added a celebratory candle, and we savored Crema Catalana with Buñuelos and burnt vanilla custard with deep-fried bay leaves both indulgent and perfectly executed. The service was knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly without ever feeling intrusive, and the prices felt reasonable for a Michelin star experience. Casa Mono truly delivers an elevated yet approachable dining experience, and I can’t wait to return to explore more of their menu.
Scallop,Bacalao croquetas,Pork belly with corn all the food we try it was amazing very delicious from the sauce to the actual meat everything was wonderful. Dessert was delicious we had bread pudding I will prefer no berry but this definitely add a bitter flavor that every sweet plate needs .Wine were delicious especially from the Dulce menu if you a sweet wine love. We did had a server but we didn't interact much with her instead we feel more welcoming with a belief was another server cal Ian (hopefully I spell his name right) he took ur drink order was really attentive suggest it think, his attention to details was amazing. He made out experience better. We got seat at the bar over looking the cooks since we did a walk in and I was really happy because we was available to see the Chef and cook work. Restaurant is small take that in consideration and the plates are small but pack with flavor totally happy with this dining experience. 10/10
Wow - amazing food and friendly service. All for a good price considering their Michelin star. Highlights were the fluke crudo, scallops, and sausage board.

Second visit to Casa Mono, always delicioso, pork belly, foie grass and duck breast were to repeat everyday, great wine selection, I'll repeat next time in the big apple.
Good ambience and Good service. Jamon is good quality and pulpo is amazing. Good place for having a good quality tapas In NYC.

A finely crafted menu with a delicate but filling selection of foods, Casa Mono provides a high quality and unique cultural spin on finer dining. Expect to order 3-6 items to be full, but that's up to you! The prices are moderate, each dish being $15~25, but for the experience, it is well worth it! My one complaint is that the still water was 7 dollars. Getting two of those was a complete waste. Delicious food, and welcoming staff. 4.5
Casa Mono has New York face With an open kitchen what works until 10:30pm, nice menu, good options of wine, the place is great to a happy hour The environment was full but not disorganized, the service was great, food gets on time at the time On the menu, you can see diversification and a new experience of flavors. Whatever, my recommendation would be the Pork Belly, super tasty! I tried as well the Confit Goat (the meat was really good but seems the flavor of the avocado and the pistachio disappeared on the mouth). The Mussels with Chorizo was okay 🍽️ Food: 3/5 📍Environment: 4/5 💁♂️ Service: 5/5 ✨ Experience: 4/5
Have wanted to try this place for so long. They serve little portions for sharing. We got there 15 minute before they officially opened so we sat on the benches outside until our reservation was up. They had the doors to the outside open and they sat us in a two person table. Waitress came and asked if it was our first time. Gave us menu’s and we asked for just tap water and a coke and sprite. We ordered immediately. Served us complementary bread with olive oil. Bread wasn’t warm. Too hard, didn’t like it. The first two dishes that came were the scallops and razor clams. Both delicious. The scallops were better, amazing. Next was the oxtail. They took out the meat and stuffed it in some pepper. Didn’t like it. Way too salty! Then came the mussels. Nothing special. Had much better elsewhere. The sauce isn’t all that special. There was some meat drizzled over it. Not that tasty either. Then came the duck, very tasty! Loved it, cooked perfectly and really good with the mushroom. The last dish was the bone marrow. I don’t normally like bone marrow. I don’t know how people can eat it. So oily and heavy. I scooped out half and placed it on the bread, nasty combo. Way too oily. That was as much as I could stomach. I did like the bread on its own. Will go back and try more dishes. I’m sure I’ll find some other dishes that are delicious. So far it is 50/50. With the doors open, usual NYC noise and pollution. Space felt cramped.
We had a great time here. The weather was fantastic on this day and we sat outside. The sommelier was knowledgeable and friendly with a sense of humor. I couldn't rate this more than four stars because I thought the food was good but not spectacular. The oxtail in peppers was very good. The full gras was meh. The bone marrow was pretty good. We had an appetizer we didn't like but I forgot the name. The first bottle of wine we got was pretty bad - they're not as selective with the bottles as I would hope.. The second bottle was very good. I'm a bit surprised it's Michelin rated, but maybe I'll try it again with other dishes.
We had lunch at Casa Mono and were generally impressed. Firstly, excellent service—friendly, attentive, and never pushy - expect the hostess which came across somewhat rude. The restaurant has an authentic, small family vibe that pairs perfectly with its Spanish-inspired tapas. We enjoyed a variety of dishes, including asparagus with black truffles, fideos, razor clams, and pulpo. All were delicious, but the razor clams were particularly outstanding—extremely tasty! However, felt the portions were a bit small for the price. Overall, a great dining experience that we highly recommend.
Amazing food, from the quality of the food to the presentation of each dish. Even though the portion was small for each, every bite was delightful. Our server, Antonio, was very professional & friendly. 4 of us ordered 9 tapas in total & a bottle of wine, which came out to be about 420 USD after tax + 20% tip. I would come here again if it was not for the price, but maybe this is the norm here. It felt a bit overpriced as a tourist here. Reservation is recommended, as walk-ins take over an hour to get a table.
Food is pretty good. There is a kitchen bar seating area, a drinks bar seating area, a couple of tables, and 2 outdoor seating areas. It's not a particularly large establishment and can get quite busy during meal times. The portions are quite small and somewhat pricey given the size, but that's something they advertise and I expected. Food was pretty delicious. Dessert is very very sweet, so I'd avoid unless you like super sweet stuff. The service could be a bit better. After being seated there was no one to bring us water, menu, or offer to show us where to stow our jackets for 5-10 minutes while we just sat there. Recommendation is to sit at the kitchen bar and see how they prep the food, quite interesting.
This Michelin-starred Spanish spot was our choice for a special anniversary dinner. The setting was lively and the service friendly. We ordered a selection of small plates: • Grilled Octopus – fresh and well-prepared, though not particularly memorable. • Crispy Pig Ear Salad – the surprise of the night! I’ve never had pig ear like this—crispy, savory, balanced by pickled peppers and cherry tomatoes. • Braised Goat Confit – beautifully plated and quite flavorful. • Roasted Bone Marrow with Toast – super rich and aromatic, though the toast was a bit too oily for my taste. • Seared Scallops – nicely cooked with a golden crust, but unfortunately one side was heavily salted, which threw off the balance. Overall, it’s a solid choice for a date night or special occasion. Some dishes wowed, others could use refinement.
We love Spanish food and heard about this one is good and recommended by locals. A little too high expectations maybe. The place is very casual and crowded. A lot of service people standing around making the space even more crowded. The food is good but not really to rave about. We like the fish over black rice. That is the best. The skirt beef steak is also delicious. The widely praised razor clams are little over cooked. And the pork belly is also very tough. We had better Spanish food at other places.
The foie gras and razor clams were insanely good — 100% worth the trip. The sommelier picked a wine for us that totally blew past our expectations and paired perfectly with the food. The only tiny “meh” was the staff checking in and clearing plates a little too often, which broke up our conversation a bit. But honestly, that’s just a NYC thing, not this place in particular. Overall, amazing spot — I’d come back in a heartbeat. And if you’re into cocktails, definitely book a table at Martiny’s Bar around the corner before or after. You won’t regret it.
The dishes were evenly hit and miss. We ordered the pulpo a la plancha, skirt steak, creamy eggs, razor clams, fluke crudo (twice), and arroz negro. As someone who prefers food with a bolder "kick" I regretted the skirt steak but the sauce was nonetheless a great addition of flavor to the meat. The creamy eggs I would not recommend unless you really like the dish revueltos. It was a bit boring flavor-wise--scrambled eggs, uni, and nuts with not enough lime to complement all those duller flavors. The pulpo was inedible--it was probably the least fresh tasting octopus I've ever tried. I loved the razor clams--they brought out the simple flavors of evoo, garlic, and parsley absolutely perfectly, though the clams were a bit overcooked. The arroz negro was also a great recommendation by the server. The fluke crudo I highly recommend.
Casa Mono has a well-deserved spot on the Michelin-recommended list — and it shows in much of the food. The skirt steak was outstanding, full of flavor and perfectly cooked, and the mussels were equally impressive. Most of what we ordered hit the mark, though the lamb was a letdown, feeling pretty mediocre compared to everything else on the table. What stood out, besides the dishes, is how different the dining rhythm feels compared to Spain. Over there, you can linger for hours, sipping wine, talking, and enjoying the relaxed atmosphere. At Casa Mono, once you’re finished eating, the check comes quickly, and you feel a subtle push to move along. It lacks that unhurried Spanish vibe, which is a bit of a shame given the cuisine they’re aiming to celebrate. All in all, it’s a strong restaurant with excellent highlights, but don’t expect the same leisurely, soulful pace you’d find in Spain.
Took my family here while they were visiting from out of town, all of us have been to Spain and love tapas style dinners. We started off by ordering a delightful wine depicted in the photo, I will 100% be trying to track this down for further consumption and I don’t particularly care for white wines so that’s saying a lot. After that we were completely forgotten about, which we found quite odd since it was a pretty small place and our server could be seen plain as day chatting with other staff members. After trying to get her attention and sipping the wine for about 15 minutes we got someone else’s attention and they got someone other than our server to take our order. The food was delightful, there wasn’t a single dish any of us wouldn’t have eaten as a whole meal. Every time my sister said “that was my favorite” she would have to change her mind. My mother said OMG so many times I couldn’t count. The exceptional dishes for me were the patatas bravas, fluke crudo, pork belly, oxtail, and the mussels. Not far behind was the confit goat and eggplant. The sauce for the fluke was out of this world and the chorizo broth for mussels was delightful (had to ask for a bunch more bread). I was so engulfed in the food that I forgot to take pictures of the beautiful presentation. After our final dish we asked the person clearing the plates if we could see a dessert menu and never got one, so we finished our wine and decided to just go elsewhere for dessert. Our server never returned to our table after introducing herself and taking our wine order, until we flagged her down to get the bill. Not to see if we were enjoying our meal, if we wanted to order anything else, if we wanted dessert or coffee, or even more water which we ran out of.
A cozy small restaurant with expensive tapas. The space is super tight. Three of us ordered 5 dishes and it was enough. They recommended 6-9. My favorite was Pan con Tomate. It may look like something you can make at home but for some reason, there was something special about it. I’m not impressed at all with creamy eggs with sea urchins because it just tasted like egg scramble with uni. Definitely not worth $40. Skirt steak and negro arroz were good. We were looking through the wine menu and a server or sommelier came over and offered to pick wine for us. He didn’t even ask for what kind of taste we like. I’m not sure if it was worth the price we paid per glass

Grease galore!!! It’s not believable that this place has a Michelin star. Every dish is served in a huge puddle of orange grease. Can’t even taste the main ingredient. wine service is also lacking.…
The staff are so friendly, attentive, and wonderful! Ambiance was just right. While the wine is absolutely incredible, I will say the food was extremely disappointing. Very over salted and over cooked. Honestly, would not dine here again but would love to see our waiter Juan again because he was wonderful!
Octopus and Burrata were spectacular. Bone marrow was very greasy. Pig’s ear too crispy to bite or chew, they were almost hard. I stopped taking photos… Also, we made a reservation for 5pm. After we arrived on time, the host informed us that we need to leave by 6:30 without any context????
It’s ok at best — i came expected to be blown away because of the Michelin star + best 100 nyc restaurants by NYT. The food is not bad, just mediocre. Nothing especially stood out. My favorite of all the courses is the bone marrow — you have to eat it over bread otherwise it’s very greasy. I never had it like that, so it’s new and fun. The roe gave it good flavors. Wouldn’t come again. Especially considering the price.
For a Michelin star restaurant, they didn’t deliver during our visit. The dining experience was missing. We didn’t feel this place was really about a memorable food experience. It’s just tapas with somewhat a creative approach and a relatively expensive bill. The bacalhau croquette was a bit grindy…The sausage meatballs with honey cumb were raw. The third dish to be honest i’ve even forgotten what is was: it did not stand out enough i guess. Service was mixed, depending on the person from friendly to close to arrogant. Staff was to busy to greet us while we were leaving. Not recommending this one.
This restaurant was oddly a mixed bag. The scallops and croquettes were well done. The rest were least to be desired. The razor clams had bits of sand stuck inside them, so it was crunchy to eat. The pig ears were hard to bite through. The goat were on the chewy side and not what they had advertised (soft and tender that they could be split apart by a spoon)
Seating was cramped until we asked for a new table, they had us directly beside where the waiter pulls items. The “Somali” was very rude and did not even offer us to have a sip when we were tied between two wine choices. Management responded quick on this unpleasant experience. Luckily the waitress was excellent and answered any and all questions we had with knowledge and patience. The razor clams that people rave about are only just ok, some are rubbery and sand still inside which you can see in the photo. They are something that anyone could make at home. The best dish was the Arroz Negro which was very very good. The meals started off entirely on the wrong foot unfortunately it only got a little better as the meal went on. Overall, not worth all the hype around it.
This was my husband and my 5th Michelin star experience, and the quality of the food does not come close to any of those other Michelin restaurants. Overall, the food was ok and at an affordable price-point for NYC, but it was not great… The razor clams especially were a huge disappointment. Every single one of them had a lot of grit and sand. And overall, the food was extremely salty and overpowered by garlic. In terms of ambience, it is dark and loud, which we were aware of before going in, so that was not a problem. However, the seating arrangement is extremely cramped. My husband kept his chair close to the dining table but was still bumped into every time someone walked by.
Arrived at 3p for a late lunch on a Friday and the dining experience was subpar. The restaurant was half full so not too busy. Food was great but the razor clams were filled with sand unfortunately. Order the bacalao croquetas! It was reminiscent of ones I’ve had in Spain - fluffy white fish lightly fried with a perfect amount of citrus zest. Also ordered the steak and onions but no mention of nuts in the romesco sauce and had to ask about the type of nuts used in the sauce after eating a few bites. The server initially misinformed us that it contained hazelnuts and then stated it was an almond based sauce after we stated we were allergic. Our water was refilled once after we had finished our meal and wrapping up to depart. Good food, but could vastly improve with service.
This is just my opinion. Overall, everything was good, but in trying to modernize traditional cuisine, some dishes no longer taste like the original recipes; for example, the black rice (arroz negro). The way the fideos are presented is also quite inconvenient, as you end up dropping a lot of the food when serving. The seafood was probably the highlight: both the sardines and the fluke on top of the black rice were excellent. I also went there specifically for the bone marrow, but unfortunately they didn’t have it available.
Cute and intimate. Haven’t been in a few years so decided to give it a go again. A really nice wine selection for any Spanish wine lover. The staff is top notch attending to every need a clearing at just the right moments. The biggest disappointment is the food. It’s just a little too far all around, a little too twisted. I mean even the patatas bravas- long fingerlings in a homogenized sauce? Give me the cubed potatoes and both sauces drizzled over! You need the damn white sauce! I will say that the fluke crudo was absolutely delicious. That needs to stay as is. Everything else was just a little too weird and different.
I pass by this place all the time and notice their bright yellow sign but who knew it was Michelin starred? I didn’t have reservation but I figure still early for dinner but I still cannot get a t…
This place has a Michelin star and I have no idea why. From cold food to slow service to shockingly poor food safety practices, Casa Mono was a disappointment. We came here for a birthday celebration with a group and it really ruined the evening. The prices were astronomical and the portions were tiny. Even worse, the flavors just weren’t there. I struggled to see why, in its current state, it ever had a star. The best I can say is that the razor clams were pretty good.
It’s a shame when aggressive service ruins what would otherwise be a wonderful experience. To say we felt “rushed” would be an understatement. We barely took a sip of our wine before being asked if we’d like to order more. They tried to clear our plates with nearly half of the food remaining on it. We could barely have a fluid conversation without a staff member interrupting us to “keep things moving” the entire time. The food was great and the atmosphere brings me back to Madrid. Despite working in the area, I won’t go back. Don’t treat your patrons as if they are simply fast turnover transactions.
Nice vibes in one of my favorite neighborhoods. But the food was disappointing. The mono salad was good but after that it went downhill. The dish we were the most excited about, ended up being the most disappointing. The creaming eggs sea urchin was awful. Cold watery and scrambled eggs and a few pieces of uni on top. The rest of the dishes unremarkable.
Being a Michelin Star 1, we had a certain expectation going in. However it was quite disappointing on multiple fronts. To begin with the service was unfriendly and unaccommodating to relatively party of 6 adults and 6 kids. When confided they admitted that their kitchen cannot handle large parties, they took a while to take our orders, bring water and bread and then the actual order. Most of the dishes were average tasting, one dish that stood out for me was lamb-belly. All dishes were beautifully presented though. I would not recommend spending your time and money here.
I came here to celebrate my birthday with high expectations, but unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to them. We ordered plenty of dishes, so we got a good sense of the menu. Starting with the $52 Jamón Ibérico -- while I understand it's a premium item, the portion was small and overly fatty, definitely not worth it even if it's flown in directly from Spain! The duck egg and truffle potatoes were better. As a big fan of truffles, I enjoyed the flavor, but the potatoes were far too oily. Next, we tried the fried pig ears, served with fresh peaches and tomatoes. Don't skip this one! It was refreshing, crispy, and unique. We also had the Fideos, which is a fried pasta dish with clams and a dollop of aioli. It was unusual but worth a try if you're looking for something different. The bone marrow was decent, though the addition of cream and fish roe made it overly salty. The pork belly, while crispy, was too dry, and the chimichurri was almost non-existent. However, the star of the meal was the braised oxtail stuffed in piquillo peppers. It was incredibly tender, juicy, and hands down the highlight of the night. On the drinks front, they don't offer cocktails--only wine, which was fine but limiting. For dessert, we had the sorbet (coconut, raspberry, and mango), which was refreshing, and the Crema Catalana, which was nice but felt a little too similar to crème brûlée. To end the night, we were promptly given the check, and the hostess asked us to leave because of another reservation, even though there were plenty of empty tables around. We spent over $500 for two people, and while parts of the experience were enjoyable, the overall value didn't match the price tag. Many of the menu items listed online were not available on the regular menu.
Three star for food. Food is good, but definitely not Michelin level. One star off because of terrible attitude at the check in Food: Foie Gras itself was seared right and tasted fair. However the sauce was overly greasy and sweet, same for the bread underneath foie gras was handled too excessively. Foie gras is a fatty ingredient and adding heavy and greasy sauce makes the dish imbalance and hard to finish. Bone marrow: again, the addition of mayonnaise and fish roe only makes the whole dish extra greasy and hard to finish. The bread that comes with this is very good - fluffy and toasted. The bread that’s on the host was cold and hard, and between the four of us, only one small dish of olive oil. Lamb is handled with excessive spice and slight sourness. Weird combination and hard to finish. Maybe we ordered the wrong items and not what the restaurant is famous for. But not someplace I will recommend friends. Service is also not to standard. Experience was ruined right beginning when front door check in staff was rude, won’t let us sit to wait for our friends but also tell us that we only have one hour to eat because our friends are late. If we are getting the table with a fix amount of time anyway per the restaurant rule, I think we can sit down first and begin by ordering some drinks while waiting.
This was my first Michelin star restaurant and honestly, not impressed. The place was small and the tables are tightly nudged next to each other. Very claustrophobic inducing. Though we booked weeks in advance for an outdoor seating (only had that option available at the time), we were sat at the bar as they didn't have outdoor seating that day. They text to confirm reservations a few days before, the bar seatings could have been communicated. Here are comments on each of the dishes based on having them each for the first time: Pan Con Tomate: $12 Pros: toasty garlic flavor on the nicely toasted crunchy baguette. Cons: chopped tomatoes have no taste to them, what happened to the seasoning? Creamy Eggs +Sea Urchin, Ancient Anchovy Oil, and Walnuts): $30 Pros: sea urchin was the only saving grace here, earthy, gave the dish flavor Cons: creamy eggs? It was ok, not so creamy, I've made better creamy scrambled eggs at home, again, what happened to the seasoning? Walnuts added very little to the dish, taste wise. Iberico lamb Chops, Saffron Couscous and Mint Salsa: $40 Pros: Saffron Couscous was good, lamp chops good flavor Cons: what mint salsa? Could barely taste it on the dish. Little meat on each lamp chop, one bite that was it. There 3 little lollipop lamb chops. Duck Breast, Maitake Mushroom and Miel de Jerez: $40 Pro: this was the best dish of the evening, great duck breast, juicy & flavorful, amazing mushroomy, truffly mash. No cons here, worthed it! Pork Belly, Fabada Asturiana and Pickled Mushrooms: $25 Pros: the sauce and beans had a lot of flavor, very good. Cons: overly fried pork belly, so hard to chew I felt like my teeth was going to break biting it, almost inedible. Confit Goat, Avocado Queso, Scallion Ash, and Sicilian Pistachios: $28 Pros: I don't remember any. Cons: very little seasoning, goat tasted mushy, weird consistency (and I've had plenty of goat before), avocado queso no seasoning, weird & bland tasting dish. Service was mostly good (changing plates, sommelier was very friendly), except when I asked for more bread and olives, one of the waitress had a nonchalant reaction, no smile, no answer, stared at me for a few seconds as if I'm not suppose to ask for more (??) though she still brought us more olives but it just made me feel like her reaction could have been positive instead of making me feel uncomfortable asking for basic service. The lighting was quite poor, could barely see the food on my plate, maybe coz we seated at the bar?
Has anyone noticed that all the 1-star reviews come from their poor services? The manager literally made us wait outside for 15 minutes when there were available tables the whole time. I was shocke…
This was my first Michelin star restaurant experience and… wow it disappointed us. Service was abysmal. They basically ignored us most of the time. I had to ask multiple times to refill my water before they finally got around to it. We asked the waiter for recommendations since it’s a tapas place where you have to order multiple plates, but he spoke super fast and felt like he was in a hurry to move on. Food was ok. But there are so many better tasting restaurants at much better prices in NYC that I can’t understand how this place has a Michelin star.
While I was chewing a piece of my food I realized I was biting onto something hard. When I pulled it out of my mouth it turned out to be a staple. I told the management of this and all they did was comp the dish that had the piece of metal in it. The customer service from this was just abysmal. I've had McDonald's and olive gardens treat me better when something was wrong. But from a Michelin star restaurant I expected much more but to my chagrin they didn't care at all. They food was fantastic I do want to say. But do not go expecting anything else. For the money go elsewhere where you'll feel appreciated.
We made a reservation at 1. The third person in our party was running late because the train was delayed. They wouldn’t let us two sit even tho our table is right there. The other group of 6 elderly ppl were also waiting on the last person to show up. They wouldn’t let them sit either. And another group of 4 was in the same situation. So the 10 of us were just blocking the entrance and in the way of the servers and other customers. The host was saying “oh if you don’t wanna wait at the entrance you can go outside” MAAM ITS 20 DEGREES OUTSIDE ARE YOU TRYNA FREEZE US ALL!!! One of the elderly ladies from the big table puts her bag down at their table and the host was like “oh you can’t sit until your whole party is here”. With that attitude (not even directed towards us) we no longer wanted to dine here anymore. We talked to someone else and asked if we would be charge a fee if we leave right now because we can’t stand the service and the host’s attitude here. She told us we would be charged at $150 fee if we leave. But they agree to let us sit down at our table finally. And the reason she said why we couldn’t sit until the full party arrives is because it will delayed the parties after us?? But like don’t we have have a set dining time because we know the next reservation was at 3?? What’s the difference if we sit now vs 10 min later if our total dining time limit is the same. I’m not commenting on the food here. Just the service alone is mind blowing especially for a Michelin star restaurant. No other restaurants I’ve been to would treat their customers this way.
