Santi was a great waiter! There were six of us and one baby. They gave us plenty of space and plenty of time to decide what we wanted to eat. Food was delicious. We had plenty of time to visit. Barbounia looks just beautiful. It was a lovely holiday get together for my friends and I. I’ll definitely be back!

Reliably good. Food and cocktails are always on point, the atmosphere is high energy. Last time there it was lunch. I had the Israeli salad with lamb kebob, and my wife has the Salmon. Both very good.

We had a wonderful time! The restaurant was very festive on this Saturday night. We tried some mezze / apetizers / mains: some veggies (broccolini, mushrooms, eggplant, hummus), the octopus and the short rib, accompanied by white wine from New Zealand. Our server Gonzalo was very friendly and gave us great recommendations.

OMG. so spontaneous. Best thing ever. First of all we walked by (I walk by here every single day for work…) and we saw JERRY GARCIA plastered on the wall in a beautiful art piece (see pic). Apparently this is new!!!! No wonder I just noticed it. AND THEN … MOMG… holy shit his service at the bar is top notch! He runs the bar v clearly. Incredible hospitality. Had us laughing, comfy, and in great spirits. Also chef Zack… so inviting. We came in here for a spontaneous night cap after dinner and now we will absolutely be back for the main course.

Had the branzino of my dreams and a phenomenal hummus. You can really taste that they make the hummus in house; it's incredibly fresh and well seasoned. Gonzalo was our waiter and did an excellent job! All our food came out quick and he was super kind! Will be coming back

Excellent food/drink, service, and atmosphere. Love the moorish inspired arches. My hotel recommended this restaurant when I was on a business trip and they were spot on. The food tastes so fresh.

We had a fantastic evening at Barbounia. The place is vibrant, full of energy, and definitely on the lively side, so expect a fun atmosphere rather than a quiet dinner. Our waiter, Timur, made the night special. He was attentive, professional, and handled all of our allergy restrictions with real care. Every dish came out perfect, and you could tell he takes pride in what he does. If you can, try to sit in his section. Food highlights: • The red snapper was cooked perfectly, juicy and flavorful. • The short rib was slow cooked and melted in the mouth, one of the best I’ve had in a while. • For dessert, the tahini ice cream halva dish stood out. It had a unique texture and layered flavors that I’d highly recommend. The only miss for us was the Greek salad, which was heavy on dill and vinegar, throwing off the balance. Everything else was superb. Service, food, and ambiance all get top marks from me. The restaurant does get busy, so reservations are a good idea. If you’re looking for a place with great Mediterranean food, excellent service, and a buzzing scene, Barbounia is a solid choice

Restaurant had a Mediterranean feel with plenty of light and a delightful breeze flowing through multiple large double doors. Food is delicious. Israeli salad was fresh and invigorating. Chicken schnitzel sandwich was large and difficult to eat but tasted great. Would highly recommend. Reasonable prices and friendly staff.

I arrived with no reservation and sat at the bar with a friend quickly. Our bartender Eugene D. Was attentive and quick with service. Food was flavorful with large portions perfect to share. Highlights are the spicy feta with bread, the grilled octopus, and the lamb terracotta are all 10/10! Los lighting and music. Perfect for dates with friends or other.

This was the best meal of our entire trip to NYC! We come to the city at least 2-3 times a year and this was our first time at Barbounia… it will not be our last! The food was delicious, the service was awesome and the atmosphere was outstanding!!! 10/10 recommend!!

We had such an incredible experience dining here! From start to finish, Gonzalo and all the service was exceptional. The staff was so warm, attentive, and unbelievably accommodating to us and our baby, which made the whole night so much easier and more enjoyable. The food itself was outstanding we were guided toward the best menu choices, and everything we ordered was spot on. The flavors, presentation, and quality were all top notch.

Had a really good brunch here the other weekend with two friends. We shared the French toast, which was absolutely out of this world. It was so good. We then ordered the pancakes, which were good, but did not compare to the French toast. The other brunch items were all really good, I would highly recommend this place for brunch. The food is good. But we are kinda disappointed at the service there. They didn’t do a good job at keeping customers’ belongings. They don’t give tags for your stuffs. We lost our umbrella there (even though it is not a fancy umbrella). We had to walk in heavy rain without umbrella, closing the night in a bad way.

Really enjoyed my visit to Barbounia! The ambiance was great, lively, but still comfortable. I got there a bit early and sat at the bar while waiting for the rest of my party. Even though I didn’t stay long, the bartender (didn’t catch his name) was super attentive and friendly, which started the night off right. We didn’t realize our reservation landed during the switch between lunch and dinner service, so we had to wait until 5 p.m. to order from the dinner menu. It would’ve been nice to know that when booking, but not a huge deal. Once seated, a waiter (who we actually never saw again) took our mezze order. We got the spicy feta, fire-roasted eggplant, pickles & olives, and taboon flatbread and WOW, every single one was amazing. Super flavorful and fresh. Couldn’t even pick a favorite! We also ordered the grilled Portuguese octopus, which was perfectly cooked, tender, soft, and easy to cut. Didn’t even need a knife. For mains, we went with the lamb kofta kebab terracotta and the slow-cooked short ribs. The kofta was okay but nothing special (maybe a bit overhyped on social media). The short ribs, though, were simply incredible rich, beefy, and tender. My only complaint is that they were a bit too salty, and the couscous on the side was pretty dry. Overall, really nice experience. The vibe was great. I’d definitely come back, maybe next time just for drinks and mezze at the bar!

Place is nicely decorated and huge. I had high hopes for the restaurant, based on all the reviews. However, we came back disappointed. First, place was very (very) loud. They were playing loud music, which made people to talk loud. 2nd place was understaffed or staff needed more training. We sat at the bar (while waiting for the table) and had to wait 10 min to order the drinks and the wanted to order appetizers, but bar tender never came. Service on the main table was very slow. Finally, food was average. Favors were on. Beef sandwich was good but Lamb gyro was not wow. Their are better place in NYC.

We recently dined at Barbunia as a party of three and had a mixed, but overall positive experience. The short ribs tagine was truly the standout of the night rich, tender, and full of flavor. The duck shawarma fell flat in seasoning although the black rice accompanying it was delicious. The steak shish kebab, unfortunately, was dry and slightly burned on the outside, and I wouldn’t recommend that dish. Service was attentive and the Thanksgiving-inspired décor created a warm, inviting atmosphere. One point to note: we ordered an Italian white wine (one of my guests is a certified wine ambassador), and the staff kept returning to pour more without asking, which resulted in the bottle warming quickly. After we mentioned this, the team adjusted and began asking before pouring, which we appreciated. Overall, Barbunia offers a beautiful setting, thoughtful plating, and a few great dishes. With some improvements on consistency and wine service, it can easily elevate the guest experience. I would especially recommend the short ribs tagine.

I visited this restaurant based on its 4.6 rating and great location near the movie theater. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was stylish and inviting. However, the food was disappointing. It looked great on the plate, but it was surprisingly tasteless. As someone who enjoys gourmet food, taste matters a lot to me and this missed the mark completely. I spent over $100 and left unsatisfied. Also, the plates and dishware felt outdated for a restaurant of this level. If you're going just for the ambiance and good service, you might enjoy it. But if delicious food is your priority, I wouldn’t recommend it. I won’t be returning.

Barbounia is definitely a lively, high-energy spot, but unfortunately the experience didn’t live up to the hype for us. We started with the mezze platter (five items) served with flatbread, which was the highlight of the meal—fresh, well-executed, and enjoyable. From there, things went downhill. The branzino was bland and lacked seasoning, especially disappointing for a dish that should shine on its own. The chicken shish kebab was made with dark meat, which was not stated on the menu; as white-meat fans, this was a letdown. While the lamb entrée was nicely presented, it was underwhelming in flavor. The drinks didn’t meet our expectations, and even dessert missed the mark—the Dubai chocolate tart paired with passion fruit tasted off and didn’t come together well. Service was another downside. Our server was blunt and unfriendly, which only added to the overall disappointment. The restaurant was extremely crowded, with tables placed uncomfortably close together, making the dining experience feel rushed and cramped rather than enjoyable. Overall, while the atmosphere is energetic and buzzy, the food, service, and comfort didn’t justify the hype. This isn’t a place we’d return to.
