Opinions de Chez Nick New York
Beautiful local restaurant! Their brunch is delicious we definitely coming for dinner. The stuff is friendly makes you feel like home.
We went there for a Sunday brunch. We got a nice table at the end of the place. It took quite a while for them to come collect the order and even much longer to serve the food (or drinks). However the food tasted very good and provided a nice addition to the usual egg Benedict or burger type of brunch. They served one of the best chilaquiles I've ever had. Will definitelt go again.
I just had an excellent experience at Chez Nicks. We were a big group of people and we did enjoy a very diverse and well presented menu. We share some plates with a great presence of vegetables with great flavors and we did enjoy several main courses that were superb: based on the comments from different people, pork, branding and chicken were just excellent choices. Definitely a gem in NYC!!
Great experience good food.Service was a little slow, but we didn't mind. We got lucky and were seated right away. Try to make a reservation if you can because I think it gets pretty crowded and they were turning people away at times.
Omg such a great addition to the neighborhood! Their burger was phenomenal and also large but not big enough that you feel absolutely disgusting after it. So good! A surprise double patty situation. Left room for dessert which we were so happy to have the warm brownie with ice cream AND the warm chocolate chip cookies(with sea salt on top) with a glass of milk. The staff was so nice and knowledge providing great recs. Will definitely be back - great for a friends catch up, a date, family dinner! Good for it all.
What a gem! Last year, I received a gift certificate to Chez Nick, but never got around to using it. I am sorry I waited. The food is GREAT! The staff is FRIENDLY!!! The atmosphere is really nice CHILL!!! I had steak on top of a corn and pepper mixture. The sauce was a wonder! For dessert, I had olive oil cake with a fruit concoction! The waiter suggested I get the chocolate chip cookie the next time. "It comes with a glass of milk for dipping!" How cute is that. Everything was so good that I didn't want to brush my teeth when I got home!!!! I had such a nice all-around experience at Chez Nick, and am already planning my next visit!
Chez Nick has never disappointed. 3/3 times we've had wonderful food and experiences here. They have seasonal menus which is always nice. "Like a much, much more affordable version of Blue Hill Farm" - my wife.
We visited Chez Nick while on vacation, as it was within walking distance of our Upper East Side hotel, and what a gem it was! The atmosphere was cozy and relaxed with what appeared to be many regular locals. The staff was kind, the cocktails were delicious, and the food was a delight. I had the burger, which was probably the best I've ever had (the homemade pickles and special sauce put it over the top)!
Chez Nick is run by chefs, and it shows. Dishes are wonderful -- seasoned and cooked perfectly. The menu has several choices every night, but selection is moderately sized, probably to simplify preparation of delicious food. Apparently basic options like pasta and burgers turn out awesome. Prices are not cheap, but reasonable. Service is fast and efficient, by waiters who care. Wines are good and fairly priced. A good whiskey selection is available if you don't live in the neighborhood, Chez Nick seems out of the way. It is worth it.
Great place for dinner and drinks as well as brunch. Terrific bartender and the staff is so nice. The burger is one of the best around. Definitely check this place out if you're in the neighborhood. Great little outdoor seating area too.
Best dinner we’ve had in New York this far! Everything was SO flavorful, the service was absolutely excellent, and the cocktails were divine. Everything we could have asked for and more. I truly believe you can’t go wrong here! We had the tuna tartar, crab cakes, pork steak, big burger, Mrs red. And can’t beet it. Absolutely so fulfilling and satisfying. Second time in my life writing a review lol. Thank you all!
Phenomenal food, quality, and service. My husband and I had a spectacular dinner and fully enjoyed our meal and wine. Mushroom pot pie was divine (thanksgiving special).
A hidden gem on the UES. Food was fantastic. Truly blown away and VERY well priced. Got the gazpacho ham and pea soup, chicken and brussels sprouts. Everything was a hit
The food and service were incredible! Thank you so much to Erin! She is great and made the experience wonderful!
This has been my favorite restaurant in the city since it opened. The meal is always incredible, and the staff is always friendly. The menu rotates, but I've never been disappointed. The real stars are when they have the honey nut squash with burratta and the chocolate mousse, which is to die for. I'm also a huge fan of the pomegranate brussel sprouts. Everything from steak to homemade pasta has blown me away. The brunch is solid, but the dinners are the real stars. There aren't a lot of frills, but the food speaks for itself.
Food and service were exceptional. Avocado toast , little gem Cesar , and smash burger were all big hits . The staff is friendly and this place speaks to the culture of neighborhood restaurants. Can’t wait to go back and try the dinner menu . Thanks to Kaila for stopping by our table and chatting it up . Very professional with a cool vibe .
Small corner restaurant. They really understand what a true brunch should be. They seem to take a lot of pride in preparing your food and it really is delicious. You're going to want to make a reservation though. Really becoming one of my favorites. It is kinda small to accommodate children though. But worth getting a babysitter :)
Had to finally write a review because this place deserves all the love! There’s something so special about this place. It’s one of those neighborhood spots you never get tired of—the service is always top-tier (Laura is so sweet and attentive!), the food is incredible, and the menu switches up just enough to keep things fresh. I’ve been here for date nights, girls’ nights, and even brought my family when they visited—it’s always a great experience and accommodating for really any occasion. Highly recommend!!
Great food, lovely atmosphere and very attentive staff! Brussel sprouts are delicious!
Chez Nick is one of the Upper East Side's best kept secrets. Tucked away on a quiet corner of York Ave, this is one of my go-to spots when I want a great meal. The staff are friendly and attentive, they really make you feel welcome. The food is casual yet elevated, you can tell they put a lot of thought and care into their menu. My favorites are definitely the burger and the steak frites, but you can't go wrong with any option!
This is a great spot for brunch. Really bright and great vibes. I also love a menu with a few solid staples done well. We randomly decided to sit at the bar to eat and our bartender David was the absolute best. He was so attentive and fun with great banter, and clearly beloved by the regulars there, too.
Wow! This place is amazing - wish we would have found it sooner! My husband and I read about this restaurant and decided to go here for brunch. Everything that we ordered was THE BEST THING we have ever tasted! We decided to go back for dinner tonight - not as strong as brunch but still very good. Think they were a bit short staffed. The ricotta is a 10/10!
Chez Nick is a neighborhood gem and I am so happy to live so close to such a great restaurant. They are constantly keeping their menu fresh with new, seasonal items and the staff is always so charming and welcoming. The steak, burger, and soups are some of my favorites. I can't wait for my next visit!
Came here for lunch the other day with some friends. From the service to the food, everything was awesome! Shared the carrots and brussel sprouts and finished with the branzino - all were super fresh and full of flavor. Apps and large plates were so delicious we just had to get all three desserts, which were equally amazing. So looking forward to having dinner here soon!
The most darling cafe in the UES! Made brunch reservations for Sunday morning. Price was great, service even better! The restaurant is a cute little bistro across from a park. I would certainly come back again.
Wow, what a great dining experience! The staff were lovely, the food was fresh and loaded with flavor and the space itself was super bright, clean and comfortable. I went there with some friends for lunch and ordered the cavatelli, ricotta toast and all of the desserts for the table. Looking forward to going back very soon!
Stopped in to Chez Nick's for dinner after a long day and was very pleasantly surprised by a wonderful meal. I started with a very refreshing cocktail (pictured), called "The Show Goes On." Started off with an Elote appetizer which was three mini pieces of corn-on-the-cob (pictured), which was quite tasty. My entree was Lobster Mafaldine Scampi. I truly have never had anything quite like this dish before. There was an ample portion of lobster in this dish with the mafalde and a generous portion of heat (spice) throughout, which was both unexpected and appreciated! Loved this dish. Finished with the Chocolate Chip Cookies dessert, two amazing chocolate cookies served with a small glass of cold milk, a perfect finish to a great meal. Would highly recommend!
Chez Nick is a lovely French restaurant where you can also get great hamburgers , falafel and delicious Branzino as well as the kinds of comfort foods that will satisfy every palate. We chose Chez Nick for our first indoor dining meal since the pandemic began! We loved how the tables were spaced with potted plants on the tables on each side of our seats. Of course the waiters were all masked snd we felt wonderfully safe and enjoyed a fabulous dinner. We started with an order of Parmesan Fries and crispy Brussel Sprouts. And then we had two orders of their pan roasted Branzino, Pappardelle pasta served with baby lamb and herbed falafel. We were too full to have dessert but the waiter described their house special that sounded so good I want to return just to check out their dessert menu!
Amazing experience and food. Our server was Erin and she went above and beyond for us. 100% recommend if you’re in the area
The kitchen team knows exactly what they're doing. The dishes taste better with quality ingredients. The restaurant environment feels right. Staff delivered exactly what was promised. There's no hesitation about my next visit.
I came here with coworkers and could not have been more pleased with dinner. I got the half Amish chicken, which was incredible. The chicken was tender with a crisp skin. And the veggies all had tons of flavor. The restaurant was nicely decorated but still comfortable to show up to in everyday clothes.
Went here for a date, lovely people and excellent service. Laura makes the best cocktails and sings along to the music that’s playing in the background sometimes. Make sure to sit at the bar to get the best experience.
We were pleasantly surprised at how much we loved Chez Nick. It had the perfect combination of a family friendly, relaxed atmosphere and delicious food. Good vegetarian and vegan options, plus mocktails! And the food was fantastic. My husband said it was the best Brussels sprouts he’s ever had. Both our entrees had tons of flavor and lots of variety in texture, which is rare for a vegan bowl and a pasta dish. This is such a small criticism, but my mocktail had slightly too much of a lingering balsamic taste. Otherwise we were super happy and will definitely be coming back.
After seeing this place change names a couple times I decided to pop in and see what all the hype was about. I was not disappointed. We started with the ricotta and chicken liver mousse which were both very tasty. For the main course we ordered the crab salad special, one hamburger and one cheeseburger. All the main courses were extremely delicious and well above average.
Stopped by on a Sunday night and was seated right away. Started with a cocktail that had Tito’s vodka and basil (They called it a Motito) that was out of this world!! You wouldn’t think it would be tasty, but it was absolutely delicious. We got the crab cake appetizer and the everything salmon tartare. Both of them were mind blowingly good, especially the crab cake! So crispy on the outside and perfectly moist on the inside. The salmon tartare came on these thin-sliced fried potatoes that were great as well. Boyfriend got the burger and he loved it so much I got a bit jealous. He also got the parm fries instead of regular fries and they were great! A bit under seasoned, but the amazing burger made up for it. I got the spaghetti and meatballs and OH MY GOD. The sauce has a perfect kick, the meatballs had fancy aged meat and it fell apart and melted in my mouth, and pasta was perfectly al dente. I can’t wait to come back here!
My wife and I have been coming here for the past year, but this most recent dinner surpassed all expectations. The quality has skyrocketed. Our meal commenced with the carrots al pastor, a meaty yet meatless root vegetable twist on the classic Mexican pork dish. For the mains my wife had the smash burger, a classic, executed perfectly. I took a vegan journey down memory lane with the hummus and falafel. I have a Mediterranean / middle eastern background, and this was hands down the best falafel I’ve ever tasted in my life. The perfectly seasoned soft hummus and accompanying crunchy vegetables were all executed to perfection. Finally we ended the night with a deliciously deconstructed childhood classic, the chocolate mousse with graham cracker crumble and the perfect pillow of a caramelized marshmallow. I was pleasantly surprised to find the classic Latin coffee cocktail, Carajillo on the menu. A delicious mix of iced espresso and liquor 43 is the perfect capstone to any meal. Not to mention, the ambiance is perfect as ever, the presentation better than ever (I was so excited to eat everything I only just remembered to snap a shot of dessert before diving in), and the service is exceptional (thank you to our awesome hostess Laura and waitress Carly). Run don’t walk to try this hidden neighborhood gem.
I was recently in Chez Nick for a wine dinner and was completly blown away with the food and the wines. Is amazing to have this offer in the UES. Cocktails are amazing and the staff makes you feel at home.
Ambiance (5/5): There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The inside was a little dark, spaced out, and low volume. There is also high bar top seating. Dog friendly (both indoors and out!) Service (5/5): We were serviced quickly and often. All our orders were prepared as instructed. We shared an entrée and our server asked to have the burger cut in half for us! Brussel Sprouts (5/5): Lovely crisp to a sweet bite of vinaigrette. The pomegranate seeds gave the dish a nice color! Crab Rangoon Dumplings (4/5): The dumplings were on the small side but stuffed with crab meat. The sweet sauce complimented the rich cream cheese taste. My only qualm was that it wasn’t as good without the sauce. Roasted Eggplant (5/5): I was a fan of the brown butter sauce. The especially liked the small spice kick of the red peppers and bites of mint! Smash Burger (5/5): Huge fan of their burger!! I loved the flavor of their caramelized onions. I need to know what their special sauce is! Their bun was soft and held the burger well. The fries were cooked well-done upon request and were a lovely crunch. Absolutely loved my dining experience and would come back again for their other dishes
Erin did not come to play when she served up today. Food was absolutely amazing and she wet above and beyond to make sure I was celebrated on my birthday. Would def recommend for a fantastic meal
Chez Nick is a fantastic spot with incredible food and top-notch service. A special shoutout to the manager, Laura, whose warmth and attention make every visit feel truly special. Highly recommend!
Came on a Saturday at noon for brunch. Everything was delicious. You must get a pancake to split for the table! Very cute spot. Service was a touch slow, and our check wasn’t totally accurate. Still wouldn’t hesitate to come back.
I was at here during the snow storm and the place was amazing! The people so attentive since you step on the door. Our server Martin was very knowledgeable and took care of us throughout the night. Will definitely visit this UES hidden gem.
Chez Nick is my favorite restaurant in Upper East Side. Each item on the menue is delicious. Desserts and cocktails are masterpieces. Staff is welcoming and friendly. Special thanks to Janet for making us feel at home 🫶
Chez Nick is a total neighborhood gem! We had an incredible meal starting with the crispy crab fritters, followed by a juicy, perfectly executed burger and a pasta dish that was so fresh and yummy. The cocktails are top-notch too—the Sage and Sound is a must-try if you want a bourbon drink that’s surprisingly refreshing. A huge shoutout to our server, Erin, who was attentive, friendly, and quick. Fantastic food and even better service—we’ll definitely be back!
Had a great group dinner at Chez Nick. Our server Erin was amazing - she guided us through the menu and gave great recommendations, and was very funny and personable! The food was great and the nightly specials added depth to the existing offerings. Shoutout to the cookies and milk dessert - don’t skip it! Cocktails were also great. 10/10
We’ve been going to Chez Nick since 2021, and it’s consistently excellent. The whole chicken meal is one of our favorites, the Brussels sprouts are always a standout, and our daughter has always loved the kids’ meal options. The wait staff is very friendly and welcoming, and it truly feels like a neighborhood spot you can count on. Highly recommend.
delicious food, cute location, great staff! the burger is delicious (i love caramelized onions on a burger) and my husband said the buffalo chicken sandwich was a solid 8.5/10! staff was very accommodating of our stroller and we love the outdoor dining option. great experience - would recommend and will come back!
I’ve walked by this place on many occasions wanting to give it a try. And I finally stopped in and had a fantastic dinner seated at the bar. Wonderful friendly staff. Great vibe. Nice to see space between tables in the dining area. And their food, cocktails and dessert were fabulous. Went for their popular smash burger with fries which were perfect. You do need to eat the burger with caution as it is quite juicy…but so worth the effort. And their peach cobbler was heavenly. I’ll be back.
Chez Nick is a gem! Vibe of local neighborhood haunt with top quality food and inventive dishes.Everything from wine to the sticky toffee pudding was superb. Try the smash burger & fries, steak frites, salmon and lentils, mushroom cavatelli, roasted carrots, crispy Brussels. There isn’t a dish I wouldn’t recommend! Looking forward to our next visit.
Where to begin? I am so lucky to live around the corner from this restaurant. Chez Nick is an absolute neighborhood gem, the place you just want to pop into every night for the best drink, best bites, and best atmosphere. The staff is unmatched- friendliest, knowledgeable, attentive. I have tried almost the entire menu and can say without a doubt I am always torn what to get, one dish is better than the next. I love the rotating seasonal and special holidays prix fixe menus. Though a great place to come with a group and sit in the dining room, you MUST visit the bar! She is the most attentive, creative and fun bartender and you are guaranteed an amazing experience as her guest. Whether you are a regular or a first timer you are treated like family at Chez Nick and will never be disappointed by the excellent food, cocktails, and service they have to offer.
I’ve been to over 100 restaurants in NYC and this is clearly one of the best! Everything on the seasonal menu is amazing. Each dish (and cocktails) has these few elements and ingredients that just take it a step further, surprising you and making it even more delicious. At the same time, they keep a relaxed neighbourhood vibe making it perfect for a dinner with friends or family. Also, ask for their specials as they never disappoint, be it a Pizza Margherita inspired cocktail or garlicky Parker House rolls. Overall, Chez Nick is a must visit when in town!
This was our second the time. We were here for brunch with couple of friends on a Sunday. The place was not very busy around 11:30, by 12:30 it got so busy, the restaurant still felt very spacious. Food was delicious and service was fast. The chilaquiles was very tasty, their Bloody Mary is also pretty good
The food in general is decent at chez Nick but I had the special - duck confit over pasta and it was very good, the duck was perfect If they had the Buffalo chicken sandwich outside of brunch it would be the best thing on the dinner menu
I love chez nick! Best falafel around. So fresh. I love coming here. Incredible staff. But I have to say I had the lobster roll starter the other day & it was not good. It was covered in mayonnaise & barely any lobster meat.
The pastas are great and their Amish chicken gets rave reviews by everyone that tries it. The Brussels sprouts are a go to. Their cocktails are quality as well. Sometimes we've had drinks take a little long to come out, but not a particularly notable complaint.
All in all a nice place. We’ve been there on a Tuesday night. Food: Skirt steak was tasty and cooked the way I ordered it. Sides were okay. Overall, the portion (especially the sides) felt rather small for what I paid. Service: Friendly and quick. Provided helpful recommendations. Atmosphere: Cozy neighborhood place/bistro atmosphere, with just the right amount of space between the tables. Unfortunately, the music was too loud.
I am not a regular at Chez Nick, but I did find a very comforting meal there on a rainy February night. This restaurant is worthy of its good reviews. Really attentive waiters and staff, excellent menu with fresh food, a warm environment. It is a pricey upper east side locale with all that comes with that location. Not a diverse crowd but as Jackie from “Risky Business” would say “its what you want, its what every white boy off the lake wants.”
I want to love this place as there aren't many like it - especially around Yorkville, however it's just not up to the Standard of places like Gray Hawk Grill and even Bondurants. The kids Mac and Cheese is really good - let me start there, but the burger (and the duck I had last time) aren't up to scratch. If someone asks you how you want your burger cooked then just does it well done anyway that is the worst for me. Why bother asking??? Drinks are also very stingy and more suited for my kids than a thirsty Brit. Still the place is worth a visit
This is a hidden gem on the Upper East Side. The quality of food, drinks and service here can rival most hot spots downtown - yet a rare example of a place that would be worth a visitor's time to come check out the neighborhood! Pictured here is a cavatelli pasta dish with a duck ragout. Only reason for a star deduction is my need to come back to try other dishes- and maybe for the sort-of distracting music selection that didn't quite fit this spot. But I'll be back, and if MJ is also playing next time, I might even break out the Beat It video dance moves. 🤷♂️
Overall a nice experience. The four of us sat in the outdoor dining area, and had a wonderful meal. The service was great. They didn't rush us and was very courteous and professional. The food was pretty good, too. I did wish my lamb ragu pappardelle had more lamb. It was also weird that the velvet tiramisu was really not a tiramisu but more like a velvet sponge cake with a gooey chocolate center topped with whipped cream and cinnamon. But overall, a pretty good meal. Worth a visit.
This is a revered neighborhood spot. Great for low stakes dates or dinner with parents. Friday night 7/8pm it was packed, not a table to be had! We ordered from the restaurant week menu, portions were plentiful and the food was good! There was a slight smell of Clorox/disinfectant which affected the food experience, but overall still very enjoyable.
A solid neighborhood staple with a cozy vibe. The food was just okay overall. Our server got our order wrong, but we had waited so long for the pasta that we ended up just going with what they brought—and thankfully, it was fine, but they didn’t offer to correct their mistake in any way. The focaccia with whipped ricotta was delicious, and the salmon tartare was also a highlight. While the experience wasn’t perfect, there were definitely some tasty moments.
Ordered spaghetti and meatballs. The sauce was a bit spicy but that's good but the meatballs were undercooked in the center. sent them back, by the time the replacement balls came out, I was finished with the pasta. Prosecco served in a tiny doll house wine glass Overall, not worth returning to.
The food was creative and well presented, but was so ridiculously salty it was inedible to me. I tried both the chilaquiles and the hummus avocado salad thing. Orange juice was delicious though!
Don’t believe their story of “Michelin” service that is on their “about” page. Brunch, party of 6. We were 11 am start time so restaurant was half empty. Menu looked good and a very friendly person took our order. We ordered a $44 bottle of champagne and he recommended another, never mentioned the price. I asked, it was $99. Crabcake appetizer (2) came out fast. Very dark but good. Plates were never cleared and mains came out with nowhere to put them. Only 5 of 6 orders came out. Two minutes later the last entree was served. ??? Half empty restaurant?? My egg was overcooked and the home fries were soft and mushy. They were small potatoes quartered, not really home fries. Parmesan fries were good and burgers were average. Food good but not great. Homemade sausage was the best item. Chocolate chip cookies for dessert were warm but could have come from Costco. And after brunch we sat for a long time with dirty plates. Mandatory 20% grat for parties of 6. Not worth the trip to York and 91.
I’ve been a loyal customer at Chez Nick since it opened during the pandemic, but last night was a real letdown. The main AC was broken and no one told us. The portable units near our table weren’t working well, and no one checked on them — even though the restaurant was nearly empty and it kept getting hotter. I was sweating through dinner. When I told the hostess, she said, “I’m not in charge of the air conditioning.” Not rude, but definitely not the answer I expected. A simple, “I’m sorry you’re uncomfortable — let me see what I can do,” would’ve gone a long way. Instead, she stood behind the bar talking with the manager for several minutes while I waited, until I finally walked over myself. The manager, Kayla — who told me she’s the general manager — apologized but never offered anything to make up for it. A small gesture, like sending over dessert (which I don’t even eat), would’ve shown they cared. When I suggested $10 off the bill, she said it was too late because the check was already printed. The food was fine, but not worth the discomfort or lack of real hospitality. Also: they’ve had a “B” health grade for over a year. Disappointing from a place I used to love.
I never leave negative reviews for places I visit. This place needs one, a sincere one, truly. The brunch menu is very limited, which is fine. I have no problem with that. But when we asked for espresso or cappuccino, the waitress was very frank and replied that “I don’t know why we don’t have the machine (we only serve drip coffee) and you are not the only customer asking about this, everyday. A surprise to me as well.” Let me start with the milk (creamer) was old that gave me diarrhea right away after having it with the coffee, a quick sign of food poisoning. I smelled the milk and it has gone bad. Very unclean restrooms. And few kids had made them wet while seeing them changing swimming suits in there. My family had ordered burger, medium well and I did ask for medium. When they brought the burgers, they didn’t know which one is which and couldn’t put the right one in front of the right person. A few minutes after, the bartender put cocktails on our table, which we had to return them, they weren’t for us, and they were for other table. Then it came to water, good luck having cold water there. Do we go back there? Definitely not. Recommend to anyone local near the place? No. Does this place get busy? Prolly yes. They might have their own local clients. I hope the owner and manager do a shake up , otherwise, with this steering wheel and direction we sensed, not sure about their quality and success. I wish them best of luck!
My wife and I went here after reading these rave reviews from people on a Sunday night in early March. The dinner started off good with sautéed artichokes. I commented to the waiter that it was really good and he said everything is good as long as it’s a deep fried I took it as a joke which it was meant to be however it was prescient of the meal to come. One of the specialties on the menu that night was eggplant Parmesan. I cannot begin to tell you what a disappointment this was. It looked like something from a frozen TV dinner that was deep fried. I had to cut into it like a chisel with a steak knife. There was no recognizable eggplant within it, and the taste was really bad. My wife got salmon which was farm raised, but said it wasn’t very good. I tasted it myself, and it had kind of a fishy taste. The place wasn’t busy at all on a Sunday night and I don’t wonder why. I don’t know where these great reviews are coming from.
Horrible service!! We had a reservation for 3 people and showed up restaurant was half empty. They crammed us into a small table by the front door on top of a family with a stroller basically seated at our table. Asked to move to one of the open ones and they refused to give us a four top. No one was seated there so it made no sense. Food didn’t look very good either. A waste of our time.
Excellent food, but mediocre service. I just dined at this restaurant. I have been before for brunch, and the food's great. However, tonight the service was poor. They charge $14 for “5 oz” of wine that looked more like 3 oz to me. The waiter spoke so inaudible that it was so difficult to understand. She was pushy for us to order appetizers, which we rejected three times, but we asked for bread instead. At first, she brought one plate with four pieces of bread when we were six at the table. We then asked her for another plate. They charged us for every plate of bread. When we asked for the check, they automatically charged us a 20% tip with a list of suggestions to increase the tip amount. 20% should not be the standard for a party of six people, especially when the service is so bad. I won’t be going back.
I revisited chez Nick after having a fantastic restaurant week dinner last summer but tonight’s experience was a significant downgrade - first , it took an hour to get to the main course (and 30 minutes to get an appetizers) and no one notified us about the delay. We just sat there and patiently waited until an hour passed and I finally inquired. Main course was a disappointment as well - my friend ordered “prawns” but on the plate were six dollar-coin sized shrimps that barely filled her stomach. The ribs were okay. Except for the appetizers, everything tasted like frozen cafeteria food (ribs and cakes). The vanilla cake tasted like something you could get from Walmart. They told us they had back-ups in the kitchen when we finally asked them what was going on. So so disappointed. Small food portion and not tasteful food AND huge delay (we stayed for almost two hours, not voluntarily but waiting for food, watching all the other customers around us - who had arrived after us - getting theirs)
I stopped to have lunch at Chez Nick yesterday at 1:30 yesterday. I was the only one inside a few tables outside occupied. 2 staff members inside who took ten minutes to acknowledge me while they were working at the bar. I was finally seated and given a menu. After that no one came to get my order. 20 minutes I left. I would definitely say they os poor customer service. Definitely not returning!!
