Very nice restaurant. Cozy place, not too crowded. Friendly staff. The steaks are great and the homemade sauces are a perfect match. The dessert is also phenomenal!
Independently owned Argentine steak house. Do you ever go back to a place you have not been in years? Is it as good as you remember? Or is it a disappointment? Way back when in the time before children we often went to this Argentine steak house on 9th Avenue. 9th Avenue was still somewhat sketchy in those days. My wife saw an Argentine chef on Food Network and decided to try it out. It quickly became one of our favorites. We last visited in 2003. After that we moved cities a few times and had two children. We happened to be in New York City for my older son’s 15th birthday. He loves steak and so we decided to bring him here. It was just as good as we remembered. The steak is cooked perfectly. The Chimichuri sauce is so so tasty and they now have a spicy version. The onions are fire perfectly and the French fries extremely good. So I am glad I came back after all these years.
We were so lucky to ind this little gem when looking for a restaurant to eat at. We couldn't decide on what type of food to eat, so looking at the menu it had a little bit of everything that we could choose from. I decided to go for the steak and was not dissappointed. Also, the waitstaff completely made our evening with small talk and we even ended up sitting at the bar when we were finished for a visit with the bartender and another patron. Their dessert is also delicious, so make sure that you save room!
Cute small restaurant. Good food! We had the ribeye, Chilean sea bass, and empanadas
Excellent restaurant highlighting Argentine cuisine. Very small and cozy restaurant, only around 10 or 15 tables with a few seats at the bar. Reservations recommended! Also, be aware that each guest needs to order 2 appetizers or one entree. This is NOT a restaurant for grabbing a quick drink. They have an extensive wine list, highlighting Malbec wines. Try the Pisco Sour, and you won't be disappointed, as well as the empanadas. Meat portions are large, but not too much for one person.
Loved the ambiance and the food and drinks were delish!!! Must try! Chimmichuri sauce (green) very garlicy and has a kick!
This place was amazing. The food was delicious and the service was remarkable.
Delicious food! I strongly recommend the empanadas, provoleta and the chorizos trio. Service was great!
Had a great birthday dinner here. I had a pasta with shrimp and bacon. Yum. My husband had the rib eye special. That was spectacular. They even gave me a nice birthday dessert with a candle. The whole restaurant sang. Embarrassing but adorable.
quaint restaurant with superb service and outstanding food. 10/10
Delicious and VERY friendly staff! Thanks for a great meal!!
I read the reviews for this and hesitated to go due to some of the bad reviews. Do not listen to them...this is one of the best restaurants we've been to in NYC. The churrasco steak and ribeye were perfection!! This deserves much higher than 4.1 rating!!! Fabulous restaurant-we will be going back!
What a hidden gem! We ordered takeout on our way back home. The meat quality (16oz rib eye and 21oz short rib) were great (grass fed) and grill to perfection. Empanada (beef and chicken) was one of the best we have had in US , reminded us of our best empanada experience in Buenos Aires. Seasoned well, so juicy and crispy. Couldn't wait to try dine in.
Doesn’t get any better than this. Great Argentine food. Mollejas and blood sausage are perfect. Steaks are unbeatable at twice the price. Will not be disappointed.
Love coming here! It’s always a wonderful experience! The food is so delicious, the service is the best, highly recommend this place! Our waiter was great!
It’s evident that love and passion are the key ingredients involved. Pair it with freshness, elegance and you have an amazing taste that will leave you starring away enjoying each and every single bite.
Delicious food. We ordered the steak and frites, goat cheese, apples, and beets, and chocolate creme brûlée. The chimichurri is also fantastic. Hoping to come back soon, one of my new favorite dining spots in NY now
The food is amazing. The steak was perfectly cooked and the appetizers where excellent. This is not a cheap place but certainly worth the price.
This is a very small place bursting with class, charm and atmosphere We started off with the EMPANADAS CASERAS and POLENTA DE CAMPO. Simply amazing, add the house chimichurri spicy sauce and it's out of this world. For entrees the table had sirloin, skirt steaks and chicken ragout with a side of fires. Steaks were cooked to perfection and the pasta is ragout were better than I could have ever hoped.
Authentic Argentinian cuisine with a modest but representative wine list. The simple decor was evocative, and the service was charming.
10 out of 10 ✔️ We enjoyed the food, an authentic flavor, long time without saying that a parrillada taste like it suppose to 😀 The staff (Jose & Jonathan) were professional, friendly and definitely made a great impression, we recommend this place and we want to return!
The hanger steak here is SUPURB. You will have killer garlic breath after eating the chimichurri sauce though, fair warning. Wish they’d kept the mate latte on the menu!
Perfect bites everytime. Try the tongue soup. Fantastic wine selection. Every steak I've ever had here was perfectly cooked.
Had a lovely meal at this restaurant earlier tonight and I have to say it was a great experience. The food was excellent and the service was lovely. The flavors of the food popped but were not over done, from appetizer to dessert. And simply indicating on the reservation that this was a birthday meal for my boyfriend, they handled the end of the meal with just the right level of engagement. Thanks for a nice end to our evening! Will definitely be back.
I LOVE that they have grass fed steak, and this is the reason I chose to come here for dinner. Their steak is more reasonably priced than other steakhouses, and it's grass fed!! I had the hanger steak with a side of cauliflower, and it was tender, juicy, and flavorful. My only regret was that I wasn't hungry enough for the empanadas and something from the dessert menu! Next time I come to NY I will be eating here again with a full appetite! This was a wonderful place to have dinner before a show. They made sure to have me on my way to make it to the theater in plenty of time. The service was friendly and attentive, and my whole dinner experience couldn't have been better!
This place is elegant and smart. It's perfect for a date night. We were greeted warmly by the staff. James introduced the specials of the night. The food, from starters- chorizos and calamari are very delicious 😋. Skirt steaks are tender, tasty and juicy. Every dish was excellent! We will definitely go back.
Food was amazing was pricey for small portions but worth it most restaurants do that anyway. It was a nice dim romantic place and they have 3 sections to eat one near the end with the most tables one in the middle with less tables and one near the front on front of the bar area which is cool. The only this that frustrated me was all the different waiters coming to the table asking if I'm done if I wanted something else . I had at least 3 different waiters asking when it should just be one assigned to the table makes me feel like they want is to tip all of them and I don't like that.
I am fed up of rotten reviews. Chimichurri Grill is a fantastic Argentinian steak restaurant in NYC. The staff are attentive and nothing was too much trouble. The food was very good and reasonably priced considering the quality and portions. My wife and I booked a table (always a good idea when eating in a nicer establishment) pre-theatre and had a great time and recommend to our friends, family and other Google Searchers looking for great steak near Times Square. And please stop the bad reviews when you didn't even eat there! It's not a bar for snacks and beers! Try a nice Malbec or Shiraz with your prime meat you heathens!
This place was amazing. The manager was nice and extremely helpful. I had the ribeye, which was cooked to perfection with very tender meat. Empanadas were a great simple appetizer. Would definitely recommend and revisit.
I had my most recent birthday dinner here and everything was truly outstanding. Our server was very knowledgable and efficient. She made excellent recommendations. I had the dish with a pounded out filet mignon and chimichurri sauce. I was skeptical and afraid it might be dry, but every bite was excellent and the sauce added great flavor without being overpowering. My date had a whole roasted fish that was cooked very well. The desserts were so tempting we got two to share, the crepes with dulce de leche (amazing!) and the special sauvignon ice cream (wow!). Everything was a bit pricey but for a special night out or a date I would highly recommend.
We came here after having a terrible customer service experience minutes before. Maybe it was because of the prior experience but Chimichurri Grill was absolutely wonderful! I loved the food, loved the service! We are definitely coming back here. Make sure to make a reservation as the place has only 9 tables.
Thin slice of beef steak with chimichurri was great. Coffee as well. Service very pleasant. Nice decor. But wasn't impressed with the starter and sides - mushrooms were bland, would prefer potato wedges or anything more fancy that quite plain fries, only the more spicy chimichurri made it somewhat exciting. Clam soup was decent. Expected more from a fancy place like this.
I tried Argentina Cuisine first time. This is great!
Delicious food, I absolutely love the octopus! 5-stars food, 3-stars inconsistent service experience over 3-4 visits. 4-stars overall and you'll probably enjoy it.
I am from latin america and they have the best argentian steak so far. It's the best asado in the area. It's never packed. They place is very tiny so would be better as a small group. Great for dates as well.
I was looking for a steak place that is not too expensive and stumbled on this place, which is not exactly a steakhouse but serves lots of meat dishes. My friend and I both had Argentinian steak ($24), pounded thin and extremely tender, with Chimichurri sauce on top. It was really delicious! Wine was not bad, and the atmosphere was relaxed: rather quiet but not quiet enough to hear exactly what was said at the neighboring table. Will definitely come back for more.
This place is awesome. Best representation of Argentinian steak I've had in NYC. The beef is grass fed and the quality is so much better than the other famous parrilla's I've had both in Manhattan and Queens. Great wine selection and service for Argentinian wines too. The waitstaff is very knowledgeable and passionate about Malbec and Argentinian wine.
Good Argentinian food restaurant. It offers the classic beef cuts and good cocktail selection, limited wine list and a very poor beer selection. As most Argentinian places, its food quality, although acceptable, it is overpriced.
Tasty, but my grilled strip steak was tough. Waiter explained it was because it is from Uruguay, where the cattle have to search for food, so they build strong muscle. But the fries were good,
My partner and I, both from Argentina, went yesterday to Chimichurri because we were feeling nostalgic. I think by now we have tried all the Argentinean steakhouses in Manhattan, and I am sorry to say that this one was not the best. The meat was wonderful, don't get me wrong. We ordered two "entrañas" that were perfectly cooked. However, there were several details that made the restaurant too Mexican and not at all Argentinean. First, the meats come with smashed potatoes, something that you will never find in Argentine grills. Second, the "meat knife" they provided was by no means a meat knife, but rather a knife for semi-hard cheese. Third, when we asked for chimichurri, they brought us two spicy creamy sauces made from chili peppers, something that you will NEVER EVER EVER eat in Argentina. Argentinians do not like spicy foods, since our culinary influences are mainly from the Italian and French cuisine. So it was really funny that "Chimichurri Grill" had no idea what Chimichurri is. Plus, it is more expensive than other Argentine grills that offer the same quality of meat (and real chimichurri). If you are looking for Argentinean food made by Argentineans, try Buenos Aires (East Village) instead.
Great date place in Hells Kitchen! This place has everything from wine and steak to velvet and mood lighting. Flavors are good and the place is not too loud. They could use better plates though. The juice ran right off of our plate! It was actually a butcher block. Kinda weird.
The food was really good, as an Argentinian I can say it was up to my expectations. However, it felt as the waiters did not have tables assigned, the 3 of them kept coming all the time asking for the same questions. At some point they started taking away our plates without asking first and we even still had salad on them. They also kept bringing the drinks menu for us to order more drinks, even if we clearly said more than twice that we were not getting alcohol drinks, it felt as if they were forcing us to buy more and spend money, it never happened to me before. We were for sure not the only ones feeling uncomfortable that night.
Very disappointed as the location on the east side tasted much better than this location. The food was lacking the flavors from the east side. When I ordered the steak alicia asked me how I would like it and I said very well done she then said it will be dry I said that's fine that's how I like it then she says how about medium well if I ask for something specifically that's what I want. Check comes and I sign and accidentally take the signed receipt and she calls a few minutes later sounding rude as hell saying you took the receipt are you going to leave a tip or not. I dont think I would like to back after that.
We were around Times Square and looking for a place to have dinner with our little daughter; so my husband mentioned this place. When we got there, the place was very tiny under candle light. We saw one table available so we went in. No employee greeted us. We asked a table for three and they told us that the was no place for three people. They did not say sorry or there is a waiting time, or sorry or nothing like that. They were very rude and we felt we were not welcome. I do not recommend that place for nothing in the world.
Terrible service and experience. Ordered empanadas- total of 8 on DoorDash and only 4 came. I called and spoke with Wilbur and he was very irritated saying 1 empanada is $6.00 and that I didn't know what I was talking about. I told him that the menu selection shows 2, it's on the main menu and it allows you to select 2 kinds of empanadas. I asked, how could it be just one then? He said, "$17.00 for 2". I needed clarification and for someone to understand my situation. I wanted to speak with his manager who apparently wasn't on site. He said he would call her and call me back. Alicia Rodriguez, the owner called me back. She was so rude and dismissive. Whether she claims it's a glitch in the system or a mistake on their part, as the owner, you should handle the situation accordingly. After explaining, I had to text her images of the order as she didn't believe me. Why would anyone waste their time having to go through this for 4 more empanadas that they ordered and didn't receive? Alicia said, she DEFINITELY WOULDN'T be giving us the 4 and I had to have ordered from the lunch menu and that it's not her problem. It's DoorDash's. As an owner, I'd expect someone to take some ownership for the mistakes made here. I'm not asking for money back, just what we're missing to be sent over. First time ever getting food from here. Last time as well. For anyone who wants to order with this establishment and go through DoorDash, this is the false advertising and experience you will receive. Never gone through such an ordeal. I've included pics here so others can be advised.
Very bad place. My wife and me had a two course dinner with Argentenian wine. They serve spurious wine. We both had a terrible time after eating here. Do not eat at this place.
Miserable attempt at high end dining that falls miles short. Expected so much more. The simplest items were overcooked, steak undercooked and inattentive service.
I've never experienced anything similar in my life. The waiter came out behind us and stopped us in the street asking me for the tip! A total shame. Excellent food, very cozy atmosphere, but the waiter's attitude ruined everything. If the tip is optional and I decided not to leave it, it is my right as a customer.
Had high expectations for this place, and was let down. Some of the food was for sure great (Calamarares a la Parrilla/ Bife con Fritas) and the wine selection nothing to complain about. But ... the empanadas were served cold on the inside, I got sick from my food literally right after finishing (this never happens to me!), mom found a strange looking piece of plastic in her salad (though for all of this the waiters were very respectful and even deducted $ from our bill). However, the overall service - I would have forgiven everything else, but the service did it for me. They were great ... but like TOO much. Please get away from my table and let me have a conversation with my parents! Every five minutes you had a different waiter coming up to you asking you the same questions, as if our table wasn't assigned to just one person, and they were all just rotating and always in your space. A really good waiter, knows when they are needed and when not to overstep. And some of the guys you could just tell were unexperienced at serving, and they kept interrupting our conversation and our meal. Honestly, you might as well try it, not bad for a decent meal, if you're willing to pay that much for a "decent" meal and put up with possibly having the waiters on top of you. As for me, never going back to this place.
Horrible experience! Rude people working in this restaurant, no professionalism, courtesy or sympathy. Went there today with my wife, mother in law and auntie, but just two of us was going to eat appetizers, so we started with 2 beers and 1 juice, than we ordered. Right after that the waiter comes to say that there is a minimum of consummation. I couldn't believe my ears, and the manager was so rude and disrespectful that in the end we where expelled because there was a cost to sit on the table, in sum. Don't even know to taste pf the food, but judging by the treatment I will never want to know. Bunch of amateurs with no respect for clients. This scum just stain the reputation of the city!
