Opinions de Da Capo Aperitivo e Caffe New York
Went here last December (2024) It's a small cozy cafe ,and I absolutely loved it. Bonus points for the croissant duct taped to the wall 😆.( Not sure if it's still there)
I’ve been going to Da Capo for years now and have never EVER been let down by the quality of food and service. The paninis are to die for, the coffee is rich and made with love, and the service is top tier. I highly recommend for your next lunch spot dive!
A must try when visiting New York! The space itself is very cozy , staff is extremely helpful + kind and not to mention the tasty coffee! I will be returning when I next visit NYC !
I had the good fortune to walk into Da Capo on Madison Avenue near Mount Sinai where I had a delicious lunch and a great latte. I actually met the entire family of owners who are understandably very proud of their cafe, since it’s really a fabulous cafe.Alex and Aris who are brothers do a wonderful job managing their restaurant. They also have another location across from the Javits Center. In addition to having wonderful coffee and teas as well as sandwiches and desserts, they occasionally have musicians perform in their dining room!
Da Capo is a wonderful place conveniently located close to Central Park, making it an ideal spot for a relaxing break after a stroll in the park. The coffee is delicious, with special kudos to their expertly prepared espresso, which offers a rich and authentic Italian flavor. The atmosphere is great—cozy, inviting, and reminiscent of a traditional European café. I highly recommend it for anyone seeking quality coffee in a pleasant setting and plan to return soon.
My friends and I visited Da Capo randomly this week and we had an amazing time here with the staff! We stopped by randomly from Central Park on our way back and the staff Nika & Arona were so sweet and welcoming. Coming from Europe it was really nice to find a place that feels authentic and traditional the same way it is back home. The cortado & macchiato were perfect and we also enjoyed an unsweetened matcha latte. Heavy rain outside and the ambiance felt really cozy and homey inside with the rain sounds from the glass roof in the back. Super nice and would definitely recommend if you’re in New York and looking for an authentic European vibe & coffee shop experience!
Friendly Fast Service in a very clean relaxed space. Cappuccino was perfect, flavorful and hot. The matcha isn’t sweet unless you want it that way!
At a first glance, this place makes you feel like you should walk in and order an espresso. Super authentic Italian coffee, with a tasty and not too sweet Da Capo latte (chocolate and hints of hazelnut) I would recommend. There are also very good pastries and a cute little table setup on the street to enjoy on warmer days.
My favorite coffee shop, so much so I’ve never left a review in the 4 years I’ve been coming to Da Capo because I’m biased. A truly fantastic third space if you live in the area… so many conversations here, deep wisdom from the baristas and regular patrons. I learned to love espresso here, drinking it standing at the counter like they do in Europe, as coffee is meant to be enjoyed: with others. Where neighbors become friends, truly. Please experience this special place
Absolutely love this place! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with the warm, comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee and a genuinely welcoming vibe. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and always remembers my order — a small touch that goes a long way. The coffee itself is top-notch: rich, smooth, and clearly made with care. I also appreciate the cozy atmosphere — perfect for working, reading, or catching up with friends. Their food is delicious too (highly recommend the avocado toast!). Easily one of the best coffee spots in town.
I’ve been a long time patron of Da Capo. When you are there you are treated as family. It’s a beautiful space with amble seating in the back. The espresso coffee is top notch. I’ve tried many boutique coffee shops around the city. The beans here are my favorite. It is mellow blend that hits the spot. (Dairy & dairy alternatives are available) The food options are superb. There are quick bites like croissants, small cookies, desserts, and paninis. There are also plates options like salads and pastas (GF options but establishments serves gluten). I love this place!
Da Capo is my favorite cafes in New York City. I’ve been going here for years. The staff are so welcoming and the owners are very attentive to the customer. They really care about creating a nice and comfortable space. They recently added WiFi so I’ve been getting work done here in the mornings, and their coffee always helps me start my day. The paninis are really good, especially the new turkey one. I’ve made this place one of my favorite spots and even had a few birthdays here over the years, it’s just that special. Love the business and I wish more places were like it!
I've popped into this cafe before for coffee and pastries and always have a positive experience. Yesterday I had lunch here and was very happy I did so. The pesto fusilli was great, the service is quick, and it doesn't get overly crowded like other cafes I've been to, it's a very nice space.
Stumbled across this little coffee shop and i was attracted by the cute store front. I ordered a macchiato and apricot croissant and both were sensational. The baristas were kind, efficient and accommodating but what i loved the most was the cafe’s ambience. If you are looking for a cozy neighborhood coffee shop, serving quality coffee, this is the place to be. 10/10 would recommend to a friend and best believe I will be returning for that croissant.
1/5/26 - went into Da Capo for coffee and ordered the pastry, photo below. Well, the pastry was so hard if it fell on the floor, it would not break. Wait staff, two women advised oh they are fresh, and it's like biscotti. Excuses. Former owner, was a cool guy, knew the business. Now it's amateur time. ------- I am a regular customer at Da Capo, Madison Avenue. The food and all coffees are great. The last two weeks, the regular barista is no longer there. I inquired and all they said, "he's not here anymore". The new staff, all the same. The other guy was 100% better, he was more into this type of business, and made a better cup of coffee. The customers who stay at the bar area, he conversed and I could tell they were there to watch soccer, relax and have coffee. He had a better personality and for me, I came back often. The chef is a friendly guy.
A hidden gem this place truly is! I have passed so many times without realizing it until a friend of mine invited me out. The lighting, ambiance, and decor has a modern rustic feel, which I can appreciate. The bartender/waiter, Brian (I believe), is extremely kind and friendly. His service is awesome! I ordered the 4 cheese pizza and it tasted great and kept me satisfied. My only complaint is that the dough was overcooked and extremely crunchy. Also the dough to cheese ratio was disproportioned. Other than that it was fresh and made to order. I also had their carrot cake which was really good. Overall a great experience, awesome staff, and reasonable prices. Would definitely come here more often.
