Opinions de Dao Dim Sum New York
DAO Dim Sum & Chinese Cuisine delivers exactly what you want when you are craving authentic dim sum in New York. It checks every box. The dim sum was excellent. Fresh, well prepared, and full of flavor. Each dish came out hot and properly timed. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in consistency and quality. The wonton soup was equally strong. Clean, balanced broth with well-made wontons and great texture. Comforting without being heavy. Service was fast and courteous. The staff was attentive, efficient, and genuinely pleasant. Food arrived quickly without feeling rushed. The pricing is very reasonable, especially given the quality and portion sizes. Strong value across the board. If you are looking for reliable, well-executed dim sum in New York, DAO is a solid choice. Professional operation, good people, great food. Five stars.
This is a cute place and nice ambiance. The food is really good and so is the service. The crispy orange chicken dish was a bit hard but overall the food was really good. From the soup dumplings to the chicken lo mein.
Always amazing got the beef chow fun snd chicken curry. Everything was good. We come at least once a month because we live in brooklyn. But every time we come its always good.
We stopped by here and LOVED our experience. We had the chef platter, pork steamed buns, egg steamed buns, rose tea, and lychee sake (amazing). I tried to include a photo, but we already ate all the food. Staff was friendly, helpful, and the atmosphere was beautiful. Reasonable prices and we’d recommend!
We ordered the General Tso’s chicken, vegetable lo mein, vegetable spring rolls, and the trio vegetable dim sum, which included bamboo shoots, truffle mushroom, and mixed vegetable dumplings. We also had jasmine tea. The food and service were excellent, and the space is cozy and welcoming. The vegetable spring rolls were extra crispy—so, so, so good. The lo mein truly stood out. I often compare lo mein to the one I grew up eating in Nairobi, and this is the first time I’ve had it that instantly took me back home, enjoying it at my favorite spot there. Joe was our server and provided wonderful service. Overall, a really special dining experience.
Very good dim sum, attentive service and nice ambiance. I got the sampler platter, which was a fun way to try so many different options, and even though the platter is on the expensive side, it was pretty filling. The waiters were very attentive. The seating area looked very nice, especially the booths.
We spent our Christmas dinner here. We ordered way too much food and that’s the way to do it. We tried just about everything on the menu and couldn’t be happier with our selections! With warm sake, the ambience is charming, quiet and relaxed. The food is outstanding. The service was perfect. A wonderful place for a holiday or a special occasion.
Great place in midtown! I wanted to go to Chinatown but my GF and me were by Penn Station. Chive & shrimp dumplings were great. We ordered seafood lo mein, egg fried rice and Chinese greens Yu Chan and it came in very generous portions. It was a lil more expensive then Chinatown restaurants admittedly but it is in midtown and did taste fresher / better. Service was excellent too!
Food is really good! I had the stir fry chicken with onions and scallions!! It came with rice and it was super yummy. My friend got the Kung Pao Chicken with Cashews and I personally preferred my dish more but they were both super good. The flavor of the chicken is nice and the portions are large which make the prices reasonable. The interior is honestly beautiful. Im an artist so I appreciate the wood paneling, lighting, and decoration. Super comfy place to escape the streets of NYC at and stay warm with a good meal!
Wonderful, authentic spot conveniently located in midtown. It was a lovely and quiet space for a business lunch. The food was hot and fresh. The prices were reasonable. The service was timely and professional. My favorite was the black truffle mushroom dumplings. I hope to come back again!
We love coming back here, from the very first bite, everything we ordered was delicious. The shrimp and pork shumai were perfectly juicy and flavorful, and the shrimp crispy tofu had the best light crunch with amazing seasoning. The xiao long bao and hargow were both excellent, fresh, delicate, and full of flavor. But the true standout of the night was the beef chow fun—hands down the best dish on the table. Smoky, tender, and packed with flavor. Every bite was so, so good. We’ll definitely be back again!
The first time I visited this restaurant I stumbled on it after a doctor’s appointment near by. Today, I came with my little sister after an appointment again, and I thought let’s leave a review. Great portions and the food is well cooked and well balanced. The space is cozy and homely perfect parallel from the cold weather outside right now. The staff is very friendly and polite. Definitely worth visiting, and I’ll be back once again l. Next time I’ll visit not because of an appointment. I mainly took videos so this picture is from us eating everything and taking the rest to go.
We arrived without any reservations and were promptly seated, as we were the only customers at the time. We ordered the Scallion Pancakes, Pork & Shrimp Shu Mai, Pork Soup Dumplings, and Pork Gyoza, accompanied by Thai Tea and Mango Juice. The dim sum arrived, and each dish was incredibly delicious and satisfying. The Mango Juice was refreshing and flavorful.
This is a fantastic spot for Chinese cuisine in Midtown! The tea pods are such a cute touch, and the gyozas are absolutely amazing. The sesame chicken, in particular, is cooked perfectly—crispy, flavorful, and well-prepared. The staff is warm and welcoming, and the décor is both elegant and inviting. A great place for delicious food and a lovely dining experience.
We LOVED our experience here- we were seated immediately, the staff was friendly and attentive, and the FOOD was so incredibly flavorful and perfect- we destroyed it. The crowd is interesting (very loud caucasian conversations).. but come with friends/family and support this amazing spot:)

Great fast service! Loved the fresh dim sum and will definitely come back! The scallion pancakes were our favorite.

We were looking for a nice dim sum restaurant and stumbled upon Dao DimSum. We ordered a lot of different dim sum options, both shrimp, crab, veggie, and some pork buns. Everything was incredible!!…

Great food, good portion, a lot of variety and decent pricing. Everything was great in general. My favorites were the dumplings! Other dishes were okay but too much portion for me. Wish the staffs were a lil more attentive. Unless you have food coming your way, flagging someone down was a bit difficult.
recently visited Dao Dim Sum and had a fantastic experience! The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, setting the perfect tone for a great meal. The shrimp dumplings were absolutely delicious, with the perfect balance of flavor and texture. They offer an impressive selection of both steamed and fried dumplings, catering to all tastes. I also loved the fried rice — it was flavorful and had just the right amount of seasoning. The fish fillet was another highlight, cooked to perfection and incredibly tasty. Overall, Dao Dim Sum has a fantastic range of dishes, and I can’t wait to return for more!
The dumplings are an absolute stable and very delicious, the food overall was great but the pork dumplings didn’t really come as expected and portions are a bit smaller for appetizers. The ambience is beautiful and the service is quite adequate. Overall amazing place for tourists as well.
I went here yesterday for dinner. Ordered eggplants, pan fried shrimp dimsum, crabmeat-shrimp spinach steamed dimsum, stir fried pork ribs with fried garlic and mapo tofu with fish. Eggplant and fried shrimp dimsum was wonderful. I love them. Mapo tofu with fish is good too. I like it Then, stir fried pork ribs just okay. Lil bit bland, I had better one in Queens. The crabmeat-shrimp steam dimsum. The shrimp so smelly and feels not fresh. I guess they dont clean them well. Lil bit disappointed. So. I think overall this place is lil bit overrated. I gave four rate in total because their serve was nice and friendly. I think this place got good review because they offering free complimentary if leave a review.
Honestly, very solid! Was concerned when seeing that there is free dessert for writing reviews, but after trying the: Scallion pancakes, soup dumplings, Peking duck and general tso’s chicken, I can say I would come back. Positives points: Peking duck was reasonably priced and high quality. Loved the bao buns it was served with. The scallion pancakes themselves were great. The soup dumplings were as good as the best ones I’ve had anywhere else! Couple points of improvement: the soy sauce / scallion pancake sauce was way too salty. The chicken also had some pieces that were extremely tough.
Good Chinese restaurant option outside of Chinatown with dim sum and soupy dumpling options. Clean, nice looking. Service was good and friendly. Fried rice was very fresh and light. Flavor of everything else was good, but I felt like I had had better versions over the years. Nothing was amazing, including the xiao long bao. Pan fried gyoza-like dumplings were just ok. The dim sum sampler is a pretty looking intro, but I would recommend ordering dishes you know you want. Half of them I wouldn't have ordered normally. The baked duck dumpling was probably the best, followed by the shumai.
Really good. Not that expensive very nice and clean with good service been there like 4 times and every time the food has been good.

I am Chinese. Born and raised in NYC, love trying new Asian places so I decided to try this place out. I love supporting the community. But the experience disappointed me. Price: ~$9 per dish What we had: 1) Shrimp Dumpling (Har Gow) 8/10 2) Crispy Shrimp Balls 8/10 3) Pan Fried Shrimp & Chive Dumplings 6/10 (The oil surrounding the dumplings was too thick and very greasy.) (flavor good.) 4) Bamboo Shoot w. Vegetable Dumplings 5/10 (Not bad not good) 5) Black Truffle w. Mushroom Dumpling 3/10 (Good presentation, but the flavor was unusual with the truffle overpowering everything and the filling was quite greasy.) 6) Scallop & Shrimp w. Pea Sprout Dumplings 8/10 7) Pork & Crab Meat Soup Dumplings 4/10 ($12) (Do not get. Very thick wrapping unlike a soup dumpling and filling was subpar.) First walk into the store: a little musky and a weird scent. Needs some fresh air in there. Overall 6/10 To be fair we only had dim sum. But it is supposedly the highlight of their restaurant. I think the restaurant needs to change something in order to sustain. Service was good however. TLDR: fresh air and food improvement.
Plus -- People are nice and the decor beats some spots in Chinatown. Convenient if you are in the neighborhood. Minus -- Missing traditional style Hong Kong Cantonese dim sum way of cooking and optio…

The food was not good at all! The soup dumplings had no soup in them very dry and not hot
