Opinions de Dublin House New York
In from Galveston, TX in 2019 and headed back this weekend. Mike took care of our party of 4 one night and 10 the next night. We arrived about Midnight and stayed until 1:30AM or so.
Great Fun Place! Try The House Chips!
Cute little place. Was very quiet when we were there. (Granted it was kind of early) Reasonably priced drinks.
Every Tuesday, Mike poured us the perfect pints. Never knew what crowd you were going to get, some awesome and unique nights here.
Quintessential neighborhood bar. Music is great and so is the conversation. Old school in the absolute best way.
Nice ordinary bar. Their Dublin ale tasted exactly like bass ale, either way very good beer.
I had a great time here after a Radio City concert. Not packed, good music, decent drinks... just what I needed.
Lovely place for drinks
Great local spot. Friendly service. Real Irish feel. A wonderful spot to have a pint.
Great beer selection, attentive bartender. Good times start on tap
This is the best place since "back in the day" always a good time. Best pint of Guiness in New York City, possibly USA
Highly recommend a great irish bar mick the owner and Tony the barman are good hosts and the guiness is just like home
Stepped in for coffee (dont try yourself). At first I felt that the bartender is a rude ### but then realized he's not. This is now on my favorites list in NY
Amazing place. Owner served us and we had a great time. Support small business in this hard time! Thanks, Michael
Great cocktail options. The bartender that served us was very wonderful and attentive.
Real, low-key Irish pub. Bartendress pour a perfect head on the Guiness.
Awesome bar on Upper Westside , NYC. Real Irish bar. Mostly Local patrons, but very friendly.
Great bar, friendly bartender, Spaten & Guinness & other good stuff on tap
Freshest and creamiest Guinness in Manhattan! I used to go here when I was young and working in NYC in the '80's. It hasn't changed a bit!! Celebrating their 100th anniversary this year! Long live The Dublin House 🎉
Went for a mid-day baby shower and was impressed by the space and service. BYO food and seating for a nice group of people to celebrate. Owners constantly checking in and bussing tables. Would definitely recommend.
Love this place. I always go here when I'm in the UWS. Good house ale, Irish bartender. Locals bar - don't go for fancy cocktails, but it's good for a draft and some conversation. Bonus: they filmed an episode of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel here!
My husband and I come here to watch matches and grab a few drinks once in a while. As long as you know what you're getting, this place is perfect. Don't be disappointed that there is no food, it's an Irish pub. Grab a pint and have fun cracking jokes with the other people at the bar.
Maybe it's partly sentiment, but I love Dublin House. When I lived in Manhattan it was the cheapest pint of Guinness in town (@ $7 in 2016 it might still be)). It's a shame that it has a sports bar's worth of TVs battling the amazing, dark welcoming atmosphere now. But I still love it. It's a traditional Irish drinker's bar, and a must go to for me on every New York trip.
Old-school bar. You’ll either love this place or hate it (I loved it). This bar opened during prohibition, but is only “officially” open since 1933 (when it became legal to drink again). The bartender told me a story of a woman who came in and asked what time the kitchen closed. The owner told her “1976.” Needless to say, they don’t serve food.
Stopped in here in and had the best poured Guinness I’ve had to this day. Great bar with history. Love the atmosphere and the patrons were so welcoming.
Same as it ever was. Upper West Side staple. I don't drink anymore but had to stop in to reminisce. Buddy of mine used to close this joint on the regular over thirty years ago. Nothing's changed much with this joint which is a GREAT thing!
It's a fairly authentic Irish pub because it's not trying to look like an authentic Irish pub. The fellow who will try to convince you that his Guinness is better than anyone else's definitely has the right accent to do the job.
Good ole Irish bar, one of the last remaining great people, good juke box, has a feel of a bar from another era, come in get nice and make new friends! A great place to have conversation, watch sports, relax and let go of your stress and worries.
Great Service Drinks are Always Cold, And the Vibe is Always On Point!!!
Nice Guinness and watched the Liverpool Aston villa game. Good background music and a cosy atmosphere
Fantastic pub to get a beer with excellent service! A real Irish man running the pub who can give some good advise on the neighborhood. Would love to come more often but we’re just here for a few days. Definitely recommend this place!
Fabulous institution. Bar tenders are the best. Common sense approach applied in all situations.
Visited for the first time since 25 years ago. Still brilliant! Barman was a pleasure and the Guinness perfect! Looking forward to my next pint there.
Husband and I walked by after stepping off the subway. So glad we came in. Awesome atmosphere. The owner is wonderful. A true gem.
Very nice owner and classic bar. Celebrating 100 years in 2021 with cold Guinness and a good crowd. Go see Mike for a pint.
It was freezing outside & windy. Saw the sign for happy hr. I recommend the apple cider & Rum on a day like this. Service was great, so were the patrons! Great place
Love the vintage, unaltered interiors of this traditional historic Irish pub. If you're in the area you must pop in for a pint of Guinness and a chat with the bartender.
Been here many times, great place! Never tried the food, but service was always outstanding
Just watched the bartender give money to a customer to play something on the jukebox
Your ideal Irish pub. Opens at 11, although you'll see Mike, the owner doing opening prep. But this is no problem whatsoever because he's the nicest Irish fellow you'll converse with! I highly recommend the Dublin House Ale. Fantastic beer! I will be visiting this establishment every future trip to New York. Very clean and friendly atmosphere. ☘️💚
We stopped in that small pub while walking in the upper west side. Very friendly, great atmosphere. We just stayed for a couple drinks but had a good time.
Lovely Irish bar it’s definitely one of my favourite. The bar tender is very friendly and the atmosphere was fabulous would highly recommend.
The neon sign drew us in - Dublin House is a great little local bar located on the Upper West Side!! The atmosphere is great (very old New York) and the location is ideal, as there is great walkability to other bars/restaurants through the UWS. I could imagine myself coming back here, the service is quick + efficient as well!
Always looking for a good, relaxing and laidback bar with mostly locals. Dublin House was a perfect place to spend a couple nights at during our summer visit. Love the UWS and loved this place too. Tony took care of us and was awesome as was the other patrons who were very welcoming to a couple of out of towners. Thanks
I visited this place for an event afterparty, so we got to hang out in the backroom. It's a fairly small place with an assortment of solid beers and cocktails. I had a few and enjoyed the party and the company. Given its proximity to the 1, it's easy to get to and has a good pub vibe while still feeling moderately upscale.
They filmed Mrs. Maisel here! The staff are friendly, and the drink are cheap/strong. The Irish potato chips are yummy, I recommend trying the roast chicken flavor.
We met there for a pre-wedding party, and it was perfect. Easy to order drinks. Room for mingling. And everyone had a great time.
The Irish Chips and Guinness Pint are great combo here, great cozy bar
We go a few times a year from Ecuador on family visits. No Guinness in Ecuador, (I know its criminal),,,, so I get my fix here at the DH. A great feeling walking in see familiar faces of the bartenders and friendly patrons. Back in the Spring
If you're looking for a late night drink then this place is the one for you. The bar staff makes you feeling like its home and like local.
My brother told me this is the best place to get Guinness. It was delicious and I met some cool people too. 4 stars bc there's always that one. Sadly do better people and this w. General statement to all. ♥️✊🏾
Greatest Neon Sign ever! Friendly, old school bartenders. Great atmosphere. Very reasonable prices. One of my favorite bars in the world. And not a thing has changed in 30+ years. If you need further evidence check it out in the coffee table book "Great Bars of New York."
Wanted to meet a mate for an early evening catchup and looked for a place on the UWS right off the 1 train. The Dublin House was perfectly located. This was my first visit to this pub and had no expectations outside of the few reviews I read on Google Maps. The Dublin House didn’t disappoint. As soon as I walked in I felt at home encountering all the anticipated sights, sounds and smells. The interior had a typical pub layout with plenty of bar space and adjacent tables. The bartender was pleasant and solicitous without being over bearing. Prices for beer and whiskey were reasonable and in line with Manhattan if not slightly cheaper. Because we met for drinks at 4pm, we shared the bar with only a handful of other patrons. However due to its location and reputation, I can imagine the place would attract larger crowds as the evening wears on. If you’re on the UWS and in need of a pint, stop in and enjoy the pub. They open earlier than many other establishments.
Stumbled on this gem by chance, was able to catch the METS wildcard game to boot! Great place! 🇮🇪 “The Dublin House opened as a speakeasy in 1921. The neon harp, a mere 89 years old, made its first appearance in 1933, at the end of Prohibition.” 👁️ ❤️ 🗽 @dublinhousebarnyc #DublinHouse #DublinHouseBar #speakeasy #historic #HistoricBar #NYC #NewYork #NY #WestSide #Manhattan #GoMETS
Lovely little Irish pub not far from central park (about a 10 minutes walk). As it's quite central I expected the prices to be quite pricey, however the drinks were reasonably priced and very tasty cocktails. The customer service was great, the bartender was quick to take our order and make our drinks for us with a smile. I had left one of my belongings behind and worried that I wouldn't get it back. When I returned back at the bar, the bartender had put my belongings at the side and told me he kept them safe. So grateful for this.
The pic is of my g&t, which was perfect and refreshing. I also recommend ‘the bees knees’ (Gin, Lemon Juice, Honey & Simple Syrup) it was delicious and was shaken up with actual quality honey. We will be back. What a great spot. Plus, one of the last remaining places in the neighborhood where you can go out for drinks and not spend a fortune!
Dublin is ok but they're culturally appropriating a city in Ireland. As a performative ally I need to act like this upsets me.
This is a neighborhood Irish bar where the bartenders are attentive, friendly, and apt to crack a joke. The crowd is super laid back and it is hardly ever packed (there is additional seating in the back room on the rare occasions it is). The lines and taps are cleaned regularly so there is no skunking like you will see at other neighborhood bars. The crowd is also considerably more mature (read older) than at most of the bars in blackout alley around the corner on Amsterdam.
Watched a World Cup game here. A bit pricey, but you are right next to Times Square. They had Strongbow cider on tap when I was there which is not easy to find. The atmosphere was great and my 2 bartenders, who were Irish, were great. I would go back here again.
Awesome 100 year old bar. Friendly staff. Had a few drinks on a Friday afternoon. Glad we did. Will stop again the next time we're in town... Cheers.
I stopped here on a bar crawl and had the pleasure of sitting in the back room which was full of small booths. No table service in the back, so be sure to grab a drink from the efficient bartender before settling in for the evening. I don't know if they take cards as the ATM was prominently displayed up front, but a Bud Light will run you $6/bottle. Bonus: Look at the wall of Zabar's; there's a Banksy there!
The most authentic "old school" Irish Bar in the city, You will feel at home as soon as you walk in. Nothing fancy, a taste of true Ireland on the upper west side.
Great interior of the bar and it was good sitting at the bar.It was empty when we went in and two more couples came in after us. I had an Irish Mule which was the best I've had in NY and husband had a lager. Lager was $8, my Irish Mule (Jameson's whisky ginger beer and lime)was $15 I think, quite expensive. Owner wasn't particularly talkative or friendly which was a shame as it is a lovely bar with good drinks. No Tato crisps in stock unfortunately.
Stopped in for a beer, after dinner at nearby Nice Matin. Good choices for Irish draft beer, not so much for craft beer. Ended up having a Guinness, served up by someone originally from Ireland. If you want to step into an earlier time, this place is a beautiful relic from New York's past.
We love a good dive bar, so when we say the Dublin House is a dive bar, we mean it as a compliment. Nice choice of ales on tap and the requisite Guinness, plus plenty of bottled options. Of course a full selection of whiskeys and other spirits. What you won't find is food - it's a bar, a dive bar.
They have a $20 card minimum but 2 drinks comes out to $17 so you need to buy 3 to make the card minimum. Besides that it's a fine Irish Pub.
Fun sports bar on the divey side. Good drink specials and a friendly crowd/bartender. $20 credit card minimum and they are very strict about it.
Local UWS fixture with a great neon sign out front, but nothing that special inside
Full of locals and old timers. Great bar for anyone to sit at the bar and either enjoy quiet time or a nice chat. GREAT music.
Normally a very nice friendly staff. Went in on a Wednesday night and the bartender was super rude and took forever to get us one round.
If you have no jacket, and it's raining out, and you are on the corner of 79th and Broadway, this is a fine establishment to wait out the storm. Booths can be enjoyed by only 2 people. If you have a 3rd person, they will stand and your face will be level with their crotch. I hope your drinking companions have nice crotches.
It's a nice place but they lack Cider for a Snake Bite and last time i was there the woman at the bar was in such a foul mood I Feared for my life.
Lots of potential for a good neighborhood drinking spot but knocked off a star for an Irish bar that did not have Guinness (for at least part of my visit) and no food (even chips).
Has some nice beers and the place is well suited to a quick pint or two. Nothing too amazing. The barman seemed a bit grumpy but that didn't bother me too much.
Not a bad place by any means, quite average. Great atmosphere, has a historic vibe about it. You can feel the energy as if New Yorkers from a bygone era used to frequent this place regularly. The Irish coffee is 10/10
went in here with my bf looking for a calm, nice place and the bartender was so rude, didn’t believe my ID was real when I just turned 26 and wasn’t friendly at all 🙄 we left after 1 drink
Cheap dive bar experience with prices I would expect of a nice restaurant’s house cocktails
Great location and space, but I thought the whole ancient Irish bartender with an attitude thing went out of style when Ryan's Hope was canceled
Walked in and the place smells like an old run down hotel. Like wet animals. Only came for the Mets Game beer deal. Ordered beer that's on the sign (Miller Lite and Mermaid) and asked to turn on the Met game bc it wasn't on any TV...ironically the Yankee game was. Bartender said game is on Apple TV so they aren't honoring specials. What!!?? That's insane. Not my problem you don't have AppleTV sign says for Mets games. Never coming back in. Too many bars around with specials. (No food offerings so no stars for that)
Daytime bartender is the least friendly person on earth. I used to come there all the time a few years ago. I walked in today, “How are you?” Silence. “I used to come here a lot, but it’s been a while.” “So?” Clearly I was unwelcome. I guess he was only friendly to me in the past because he wanted my money. I won’t be back.
$25 minimum on CC, $3 fee for ATM. Totally not worth it. Bartender on duty not just bored with job, seemingly bored with life. I've worked service industry, not giving review lightly. (Wasn't even worth taking a picture.)
Place is expensive and bartender doesn’t know how to pour a proper Guinness
Walked in and was met with the rudest bartender of all time. Young Irish woman called us ignorant for walking into the bar when all signs pointing to it being open. Honestly one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had with bar staff. Walked out immediately and will never be returning.
