Opinions de Aragvi New York
We stopped in for lunch today and were genuinely impressed. Georgian cuisine does not get nearly enough attention in New York, and this place delivers comfort, balance, and depth in a way that feels both authentic and polished. We started with the pickling, which was bright, well seasoned, and beautifully balanced. A great opener that immediately sets the tone and resets your palate. The Georgian salad was a standout. Perfectly dressed, vibrant, and clearly made with very fresh produce. This was a recommendation from our waiter and I am so glad we followed it. The herbs, acidity, and restraint in seasoning made it one of those deceptively simple dishes that shows real kitchen confidence. The chicken soup deserves special mention. Deeply soothing, rich without being heavy, and finished with just a slight tang that gives it emotional comfort food energy. We originally ordered one bowl to share and after a few spoonfuls I immediately ordered my own. That should tell you everything. Khinkali, traditional meat, were exactly as they should be. Well seasoned, juicy, and not overworked. No unnecessary complexity. This is a comforting soup dumpling and they respected that. Proper technique, proper balance, very satisfying. The spicy ribs were also excellent. Tender, flavorful, and beautifully plated. Bold without being aggressive, and clearly thought through rather than just heat for heat’s sake. We were originally planning to eat at Nice Matin but pivoted after seeing the signage for this restaurant and I am genuinely glad we did. This was a memorable, deeply satisfying lunch and a place I would happily return to, both for comfort dishes and for introducing someone new to Georgian food. Highly recommended.
I had a great experience at Saperavi. The food was absolutely delicious — we loved the khinkali, Adjaruli khachapuri, kubdari rolls, and the grilled lamb chops, all full of flavor and perfectly prepared. The ambiance was warm and cozy, making the experience even better, and the service was attentive and welcoming throughout our visit. All drinks were great. I’d definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for authentic Georgian cuisine in nyc 🗽🍽️
Welcome to UWS Saperavi! We are happy you are here! We celebrated a birthday today and you made our day! Very welcoming, great food and service! We will definitely be back many times and will bring friends with us! You made us feel special! Best of luck to your business!
Amazing, hearty food with a depth of dishes you don’t normally see at Georgian restaurants. Very kind and thoughtful service. Dishes so nice we tried cooking them at home.
Delicious vegetarian salads, appetizers are quite tasty with their salsas. Georgian red wine. The atmosphere is surprisingly cozy and the service staff is attentive. Highly recommended. Taste Georgian dishes at the restaurant "Saperavi".
The khachapuri with cheese and potato is the best I’ve ever tried. Food is delicious and the service is great. The chicken stew is also amazing! Definitely would recommend
An exceptional Georgian restaurant — cozy vibe and attentive service ✨ We tried the walnut salad and mchadi corn bread) with cheese… the combo is unreal 🤍 I also had Gebzhalia shaped like a khinkali — unique and so delicious ..🥟💛 Absolutely loved the pork ribs with pickled cabbage and real Georgian adjika 🍖🔥 The “mushroom chashushuli” was such a pleasant surprise 🍄✨ Huge selection of Georgian wines — we went with Saperavi, and it was perfect 🍷 There’s also a wide selection of cocktails — perfect for pairing with the dishes 🍸🌿 And for dessert, the honey cake… it literally melted in my mouth — pure bliss 🍯🍰💛 Thank you for the warm hospitality… I’ll definitely be back ❤️🇬🇪
Visited late on a Tuesday night in late January and have no complaints. Staff was graciously welcoming and provided excellent and attentive service throughout our entire meal. Neither myself or my dining companion had ever had Georgian food, but we were SO open to try. We selected one appetizer, eggplant rolls, the beef Khinkali to share and an order of the Adjaruli. Our main server, Vanos, recommended the later two dishes and the server who placed our order praised our order of the eggplant rolls as well. The first dish to arrive was the eggplant rolls and I wish I had taken a photo, but I was too excited to dive in. (I do have screen shots of photos from their online presence that I will attach) The eggplant rolls we nestled in a creamy garlic walnut puree that was a fabulous accompaniment to the ribbon rolled eggplant and the garnished of pomegranate seeds and clovergreens(?) were as delightful to look at as they were on the pallet. Next came the Khinkali and Vanos took time to explain the best way to enjoy them.(there's a knack) Despite being a simple dish the beauty of the dough shaped treats was appreciated and inside the combination of ground meats, herbs and broth just made it more luscious to enjoy. When it was time for our third dish, Adjaruli we not only received instructions, but a little server craftsmanship show at our table. The ingredients which include a raw egg which is placed on top of the steaming duo of milk cheeses inside a crispy teardrop shaped bread pool is "cooked" when the egg is chopped and mixed into the extremely hot cheeses with a rapid cutting and mixing using forks to mix and stretch the cheese. When its time to eat you rip the bread sides, dip into the cheese and enjoy. Everything was delightful and delicious. We throughly enjoyed our meal and our first experience with Georgian food. Highly recommended this restaurant if you enjoy new foods, Georgian food and/or appreciate attentive, welcoming and knowledgeable sevice!
Saperavi is my new favorite local spot! Food is amazing and service is 10/10. Feels like home with a little flare.
Highly recommended, the best Georgian place I have ever been to. Service was 100 out it 10!!! Food was incredible! And Natural wine I had was the best wine I ever had in my life. Manager is the best! Vano
The food was absolutely delicious, and the prices were surprisingly affordable for New York. We received an excellent wine recommendation from the bartender, and the service was outstanding. Special thanks to Elis for the exceptional hospitality!
Absolutely phenomenal. Highly recommend. Service was outstanding, Zuko & Gigi made my night at the bar.
Excellent Georgian food. Better than most in Manhattan. Excellent service! Highly recommended.

This was as good an experience as one could have in a restaurant. First of all, Georgian cuisine is unique, so each dish was a special experience—although there were some similarities to both Asian and Middle Eastern flavors. Every morsel of food I put in my mouth was more delicious than the last. The service was friendly and extremely helpful, providing excellent suggestions considering the menu was unfamiliar to us. Alice and Sandro treated us like family. The portions are generous and the prices reasonable given the quality of the food and the lovely presentation. A comfortably welcoming atmosphere makes this little gem a new favorite on the Upper West Side!
Food is awesome!!! And the honey cake dessert is amazing. Highly recommend coming in for lunch or dinner.
Amazing place by all means, great traditional menu, delicious! The team is welcoming and professional. Great addition to the UPW ✨
We knew we would love our meal as soon as we entered the restaurant: the ambient aromas were fabulous and the waiters were delightful and incredibly helpful! We did indeed love our meal: The food was scrumptious, beautifully presented, and perfectly portioned. The waiters introduced us to elements of the cuisine we were unfamiliar with. We tried new things and loved the food!! We tried two delicious red wines made from saperavi grapes. Both were so good that we couldn’t choose between them and ended up with a glass of each that we split. What a delightful evening it was! We highly recommend the restaurant!
Visited Saperavi with my colleagues for the first time and had a really enjoyable experience. It’s always nice to see Georgian cuisine represented with care and warmth. The food felt authentic and comforting, the atmosphere welcoming, and the service attentive throughout. I do want to give a special mention to the espresso martinis. They were exceptionally smooth, well balanced, and honestly became one of the highlights of the visit. Cocktails sometimes feel secondary at cuisine-focused restaurants, but that wasn’t the case here. Overall, definitely a place I’d return to.
This place was so good - from the food to the wine to the service - that I went there twice despite only having two days in NYC! We especially loved the bartender, Giga. Such a professional, friendly, and talented young man! It was actually a pleasure to watch him work. We also really appreciated his suggestions, information about how best to enjoy the food we ordered, and his conversation. I walked away with a full stomach and hope for the next generation.
Fantastic value and the best Georgian in the city. I recommend going with the classics (e.g., khinkali, khachapuri, eggplant rolls). Plus, the meat platter value is extraordinary. Oh, and btw, super cool and kind service. Wish I had taken photos, I'll have to come back and add next time!
Excellent food, great service. There's something for everyone here. Fresh bread and melted cheese? Got it. Roasted mushrooms and potatoes with plum sauce? Got that too (and I'd highly recommend it). Also fun to try: tarragon soda!
We visited this restaurant for my birthday, as my family and I love Georgian food. As soon as we got there, the staff was extremely kind and helpful, always answering questions with great detail. All of the food was delicious as well, plus they gave us a free dessert for celebration! I can’t wait to come back here again!
Wonderful food, drinks and ambiance, and a super friendly staff. My girlfriend and I shared eggplant rolls, pkhlovana, and Chan Akhil and all were delicious. Definitely worth your visit…we’ll be back for sure.
Food was absolutely delicious and the portions are massive. The spinach and cheese bread was fantastic —think stuffed pizza with spinach and an obscene amount of salty stringy cheese. I don’t know what the cheese was, but it tasted like mozzarella married farmers cheese. The bread/crust was insanely good, and the crust was stuffed with MORE cheese. Like Papa John’s turned gourmet and moved to NYC. The “soup dimplings were great too. The beef one was savory and hearty, while the spinach and cheeses was too rich for me…like the spinach and cheese bread tucked into a giant dumpling that resembles a giant clove of garlic. The lamb stew with eggplant, tomatoes, zucchini, etc. was simple, light, and rustic. Everything I imagine Georgian food to be. The service was friendly, attentive, and of course knowledgeable as they help upper west siders navigate their authentic and foreign menu. And… the bar tender makes a kick ass martini.

What a lovely, warm, delicious restaurant. Everyone who worked there was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was exactly what I needed after a cold, stressful winter's day. Can't wait to come back for the lamb stew and wonderfully paired white wine. Speaking of which - my waiter brought samples of wine which he thought would go best with my meal. What a treat ❤️
Wonderful meal! I hadn’t had Georgian food up to this point but will definitely be coming back for more. The cheese boats were unbelievable I loved the kebabs. Welcome to the neighborhood! Can’t wait to come back.
From the moment you walk in, the restaurant sets a confident tone—good design, attentive staff, and an atmosphere that balances comfort with sophistication. Service is prompt without feeling rushed, and the staff shows genuine interest in sharing the Georgian cuisine. The food is the clear highlight. Each dish arrives well-presented, well balanced showing unique and unexpected flavors. The portions are generous without being excessive, balancing value and experience. Timing between courses is well managed, and attention to detail is consistent throughout the meal. Even small touches—table maintenance, drink refills, and check-ins—are handled smoothly and professionally. Highly recommended.
Staff makes a point to tell you the food is fresh, all prepared and cooked on premise, and you can taste it. We had the beef dumplings, eggplant salad, and veal stew which were all great. We spied on others eating one of the cheesy breads as well as the lamb stew which looked particularly tasty but we did not try. Ambience is great, cosy and authentic. Service was focused and attentive. A wonderful addition to the neighborhood.
Highly recommended! We had a great dinner at Saperavi. The food was delicious — we had the lamb chops, shkmeruli and the salad with eggplant, beef stew and Elarji balls. Acharuli khachapuri was out of this world, and the honey cake is a must-try. Pair it all with their Georgian wine for the perfect experience. Service was excellent.
First couple times this place was pretty good but the most recent - with no one in the restaurant, only ordered 2 items, the person didn’t say a word when handing the items over. We requested extra dressing for the salad and expected something on the side, but instead was doused in this sauce that seems off from the description - sunflower oil and vinegar? Have the pictures for comparison, unreal.
