Opinions de Bustan New York
This was the second time my friend and I met at this place for dinner. You can't beat the service and the atmosphere was most welcoming. We had a three course meal and shared every dish. The Branzini main dish was delicious. The sauce invites you to spoon it. Artichokes were good and so was the Israeli salad. I would have liked the israeli salad to be more crunchy with less dressing but that's me. Their red Rhone wine was so good. And I must say the malabro dessert topped off the evening so well. Lovely people next to us and we engaged in a conversation. That's the kind of place this is.
Very good food, nice vibe, and great service. The food was very fresh, the flavors intense and complex. The portions are on the smaller side, but the final bill was okay. I would skip the sweet potatoes (batata) because it was too plain, but in the other hand the cabbage was an unexpected hit: tender, charred and delicious. The waitress was very attentive, friendly, and service was quick. Very cozy interior.
Our server—Jessica, I believe, a blonde woman—was attentive, helpful, and genuinely kind. The food arrived quickly and was absolutely delicious. We especially appreciated how the entire staff stayed attentive to our table, always checking in on drinks and refilling water without us needing to ask. When we tried to rank our favorites, we could only agree on one thing: out of eight dishes, only one ranked last—and even that was still good. Everything else was spectacular. A special note to the kitchen: the tuna tacos must be a staple. Holy crap—those were incredible. We cannot wait to come back.
Stopped in for a quick solo dinner at the bar. Ordered the pita bread which you should do: it’s amazing. Added the hummus mezzi dish and the falafel medium dish. Hummus and falafel dishes were on the small side but were totally delicious and I was not wanting more at the end.
This place is amazing!!! The service was great and food was even better. Some of the best falafel I’ve ever had. The 700° cabbage was phenomenal, and the taboon bread dipped in the spicy feta was to die for. The mini artichokes were also so good. I will definitely be back!! 10/10 (pictured is cabbage)
The entire experience here was absolutely outstanding. The staff was wonderful overall, but Gabby, our waitress, was especially attentive and amazing. The food was delicious and included a mix of complex and unique flavors. The ambiance was homey and cozy but also upscale and very much sophisticated as per its Upper West Side location. I came in with 4 friends on a Monday night and the place did not disappoint. The drinks were also well-made and just strong enough. Ultimately, we had an amazing time catching up and I highly recommend this restaurant for your next outing.
Lovely restaurant providing really flavorful Israeli and North African food. One of the few places that serves a moist falafel, the food is very attentive to bursting flavors that make you want to eat one more bite. That's a hallmark of actual, careful, well-made Mediterranean food. I came here for the Moroccan fish and was not disappointed. The fish is very moist with a sauce that is really flavorful. THe tomatoes and the tahini really worked well together to provide a creamy, sweet, acidic sauce. I also recommend heavily the labneh. Get the labneh, it is so creamy and tangy. Love love love. Goes with either bread; I think they're both fantastic. Portion-wise understand that this is Mediterranean. They are big portions. Honestly for a couple I'd split a first, a second, and a third and call it a dinner. Highly highly highly recommend, lovely place, will go back for date nights or as default answers for what to eat for dinner. Walk-ins seem to be supported really well; there were no available reservations but half the tables were available.
My mom and I came here for dinner recently and we had a marvelous time. From the moment we walked in, everything was simply calming, pleasant, and delicious. All the dishes are presented beautifully, and the favors are outstanding. The range of things to select on the menu is so much fun, and you can mix and match a variety of small, medium, and large dishes. The food is great no matter what your diet is, and they can cater almost any dish to meet your needs (vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, etc.). I can't really name my favorite dish, because everything was so good. The desserts tasted delicious as well. Danny the manager was incredibly lovely, as was our server George. This is a really great neighborhood gem, and I highly recommend that you stop in for some truly flavorful, delicious food and a lovely environment!
Amazing place to eat with a group bigger than 3 ! Shareable plates - all exceptional flavor and texture! Taboon oven finishes every dish with smoke and crispiness. Definite must tries are the Taboon bread, Za’atar pita, spicy feta, 700 degree cabbage, and Moroccan fish. But you truly cannot go wrong with anything on the menu… enjoy !!
This restaurant exceeded our expectations. The eclectic interior was charming, and the food was flavorful, beautifully presented, and served in generous portions. Though the place was crowded and loud, it created a cheerful atmosphere. Our server was attentive and provided excellent service. We'll definitely be back!
Everything about this place is just right! The decor and atmosphere, the service, and the menu, which offers a variety of things to meet a variety of needs. The only thing that took a little effort was finding items on the menu that are nondairy (it seems like lots of things have dairy in them one way or another). My companion and I really enjoyed the appetizers and entrées we ordered (mine was a fish dish made under a dome of bread) and after going to Bustan several times, I can confidently say that it is consistently excellent.
Highly recommend making a reservation! It was very busy here on a Tuesday night. Firstly, the restaurant and the atmosphere are wonderful. The portions were reasonable. Everything tasted extremely fresh and came out hot. The spicy feta with the house made taboon bread is a must. The menu has so many tasty things, I can’t wait to come back.
If you're looking for an outstanding Mediterranean dining experience in Manhattan, look no further than the best Mediterranean restaurant in the city. From the moment you walk in, the exceptional service sets the tone for an unforgettable meal. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely friendly, ensuring that every need is met promptly and graciously. As for the food, it is nothing short of phenomenal. Each dish bursts with vibrant flavors and is prepared with the utmost care and authenticity. The freshness of the ingredients and the skillful blending of spices create a symphony of tastes that is simply unparalleled. Whether you're a connoisseur of Mediterranean cuisine or new to its delights, this restaurant offers a dining experience that is both exquisite and memorable. I'm not exaggerating when I say that it was the best flavor I've ever had.
Very good Middle Eastern food! The spicy feta is. unique and very good. The Taboon breads are all made fresh and served warm. The taboon Dorade is highly recommended by my party. The dips and veggies are very tasty. The Israeli salad has terrific flavors. The staff is wonderful and very service-oriented. The back patio is a plus.
My first time trying israeli food, I would say it’s pretty similar to other mediterranean food. We ordered the spicy feta, roasted eggplant, pita bread and the lamb kebab. The pita bread was pretty unique as it was well seasoned & super flavorful. My fav menu was the lamb kebab which was very unique covered with some sort of dough on top.
Bustan is, unfortunately, overrated. We came in with high expectations, but left underwhelmed. The food was just okay, and definitely overpriced for the portions and quality. We tried the chicken schnitzel, lamb kebab, spicy feta, and Zaatar bread—none of them stood out, and the flavors felt average at best. Even the olives were basic—not the kind you’d expect from a restaurant at this price point. Service felt rushed. We were served quickly, but it came across more like they wanted us to eat fast and clear the table to make room for the next group. Not exactly the relaxed dining experience you’d hope for. And a quick note for IPA lovers: don’t bother ordering beer here. The options are extremely limited and you’ll likely be disappointed. Overall, it’s not terrible but it’s nowhere near the hype or the price tag. Plenty of better Mediterranean options out there.
Ridiculously overpriced for what you get. Hummus and pita served separately. Order of hummus is maybe three spoonfuls? Ridiculous. Schnitzel was tasty. Moroccan fish (pictured) had maybe three pieces of fish inside, with the dough around the bowl completely raw on the inside (what’s the point?) Skip here. Try Frena in HK.
The food was really delicious, but the portion size was not enough and the prices felt too high for what we received. For a medium size, bread is not included and must be ordered separately for $4 each, which we did not expect. The drink was good. However, something important I would like to mention is that some of the staff were not friendly. For example, when we said “have a good night,” they just looked at us and did not respond. Unfortunately, this was my first and last visit.
