The buttermilk fried chicken sandwich, The Roadhouse, was much better than the ones I make at home and I consider myself a damn good home cook...paired with the Voodoo Juice I was certain I was under a food spell. This is my new go to bar for Friday happy hour and dinner. The waitress was a sweetheart as well.

Nice dive bar and good place for lunch. It has a nice seating area outside and surprisingly large indoor area with a full bar and relatively cheap beer. The food was good. The service was not bad.

The best time ever! The service was bomb! The atmosphere was cool! The drink specials are AWESOME!

I ordered the classic burger with fries along with the duke famous margarita and it was amazing. The bartender was awesome and super friendly.

You aren't going here for a healthy meal. Whatever you get will be deep fried, piled high, and delicious. That being said, there are 3 salads on the menu. I highly recommend this place to watch the game and have a beer with friends.

The nut-free kitchen here is a big deal to us as 2 of our kids have a nut allergy. So it was great to be able to order anything from the menu. Food was reasonably priced, service was good. I'd definitely eat here again.

Duke’s is a really fun upbeat restaurant. They have great burgers and wings. They have generous portions so if you’re hungry it’s the place to be. They have a great selection of beers on tap. The staff is really friendly and the prices are reasonable. I highly recommend visiting Duke’s for a great afternoon or evening.

It was my first time here, is a wonderful place. The happy hour is out of this world. The customer services was great. What I loved the most was the drinks. The workers were friendly amd help figure out what drinks to get. I’m looking forward to coming here again, it was an amazing experiences.

The bar wasn't too packed. I was able to find two seats in no time. We got there for happy hour and really enjoyed ourselves. The drinks and jello shots were really good. I ordered honey BBQ wings but got hot wings instead, which didn't bother me to much because the food was still really good. They have board games and cards game to keep you occupied while hanging out.

Nice place to hang out. Half price appetizer during happy hour. The staff are friendly but there is a small wait for your food because the place is popular, so it's a bit crowded. They have outside seating as well so thats nice too. You can order oversized drinks for those that are in the mood and they come in huge containers to share or drink on your own. I definitely want to go there again.

Good for watching a sports game or playing games with a group of people. Lots of tv, corn hole, and other group games. It’s probably packed in summer with the outside space. They have decent Happy Hour and deals. The lover boy was gross - I don’t recommend. I like white claws and truly, but this is a no go.

Hadn't realised that this was a Southern Style restaurant when we went here, but the menu soon clued me into that! As I had a hankering for some deep fried, artery clogging food I ordered the Miss Dixie's Buttermilk Fried Chicken, which came with 2 sides. That's a lot of food, which was even more than normal as the waitress kindly gave us an extra piece of fried chicken. The coating wasn't as crunchy as I like, but on the plus side it did come with some mighty fine gravy - yum! One annoyance was the paper that they lined the tray with became soggy as the meal progressed and had to be careful not to eat it when I accidentally cut some of it. Not quite sure why they bothered having the paper lining the tray. We were sat outside, the inside looked a little dark, so can't really say what it would be like to dine inside. The wait staff were all very sweet. This is more of a 3.5* than a full 4*, but I'll probably go back to try out some of their other items, when I feel the need for some comfort food.

The food her is very good and filling. One of my favorite places for brunch and there endless boozy for the hour and a half while your dining..Be prepared to either do some walking or talking a nap. Love them chicken and waffles done the right way.

The Carolina BBQ pulled pork sandwich always brings me back as do the sweet potato fries. I've had pulled pork at most BBQ restaurants, including Brother Jimmy's and Dinosaur BBQ, but nothing has compared yet. For starters or a meal addition, I'd also try the mac and cheese, which definitely lists on my Top 5. Daily drink specials are also a great perk. Surprisingly, brunch is delicious, such as the porker skillet.

Kansas City Ribs are GREAT. Easily split between two people or one very hungry person. Onion rings were good, chilli was good... staff was friendly and no complaints about service. Lots of TVs for anyone who has ADD and needs them all.

Mixed reviews. Thursday night football! TVs everywhere. Great comfy seats at the bar. And... Bartender on social media instead of tending? Made an Order.... 15 mins later she asks if we were going to order food (our order was not put in) Maybe it's a millenial thing. Either way - I say when working in a restaurant, all phones stay in your locker (or whatever) unless on break.

My first time here was great! I had the fish tacos! So good! Funky atmosphere, definitely NOT Applebees! Service & staff were great! Thank you & I'll be back!! Leslie

Friendly, relaxed bar. Decent seating. Could do with more variety on the bar taps. The speciality drinks they make are good. Firefly, and the Texas Tea especially. Good appetizer deals.

I love going to Duke's for brunch! They nicely accommodated 20+ people that I had when the reservation was only for 15. The liquid brunch option is a great deal and their breakfast skillets are absolutely delicious!

They had some tasty flavor bbq hot type style wings. I enjoyed the flat screen set up with all the sports. Drinks was tasty good happy hour with different flavors. Waiters was working with great attitudes. Good spot overall.

Duke's has really good food and in large sizes. The drinks here are really good as well, with half-off daily specials. The waiters were super friendly but I know that when it gets busy, you might be waiting just a tad bit. The half chicken bbq is great, the chicken and waffles are great, as well as their desserts so I think think you'll be disappointed with anything else on the menu.

I came here for a burger and a beer with my girlfriend after taking the typical Rockefeller tree picture. We wanted to get away from the crowds and took the walk down. I was happy we ventured in, the food was great and our server was kind and attentive. It was a little on the loud side when we got there (Saturday ~9:30PM) but really quieted down by the time we left about an hour later. The fried pickle chips were amazing and so was the black and bleu burger, which had a good kick to it. I'd def come back again.

I came here for their happy hour - half off drinks and appetizers 4pm-7pm everyday. It's a good deal since usually the drinks are $10 and the appetizers are about $13-$15. The portions are large so it's understandable. We ordered margaritas, regular sliders, BBQ pork fries, and nachos. The food was decent for a sports bar and the drinks were strong enough. I would return for happy hour.

Went to Duke's on a Saturday afternoon for brunch. No major sports events so it wasn't too crowded. Fun atmosphere with great music, you can even get a spin on the shot wheel if you leave a review. We had Grace as our server today and she was great and kept up with our unlimited drinking pace. Food was great. I would definitely come back.

This used to be my my favorite place to come to happy hour when I first turned 21. Great comfort food with a variety of signature cocktails. Service is always horrible every time I go back. Cocktails are decent. The atmosphere is very laid back, usually a bustling crowd.

Lapin and I came here for dinner one Wednesday night. We made reservations, but found the place pretty empty, but filling up as the night progressed. Our waitress, Olivia C was very friendly and checked up on us for drink orders, but once the plates hit the table, that was it. I was nursing an empty water glass for almost most of the night and had to ask several times for utensils, plates, and napkins. On the side note, the bathrooms are not very clean here and there is only one bathroom for each gender. (Also, no matter how much people is in the restaurant expect a wait to order, receive your food, and to get the bill) We ordered a few drinks: Voodoo Juice, Hurricane, Trashcan, Duke-a-rita. Each of the drinks came in a mason jar adorned with Mardi Gras style beads topped with a piece of candy. The drinks were tasty, but some were not strong and tasted a bit watery. We ordered the Quesadilla ($5.49) to share, and while it was tasty, we found the portions on a bit on the small side. I ordered the Buttermilk Chicken with french fries ($18.99). I found the breading to be delicious, but I found it disheartening that the chicken was plated with half of the breading coming off/missing. I also didn't like that the chicken was a bit stiff and hard to chew. The fries were delicious, but the cornbread was a bit dry. I ordered a side of mash potatoes ($5.99) which had a nice tangy taste to it. Lapin ordered the Ribs Dinner ($22.99) with a side of french fries. They enjoyed their food and basically licked the plate clean. They also ordered a side of sweet potato fries ($5.99) which was a bit dry and felt like they should have offered a dipping sauce to accompany it. A decent dinner, but nothing noteworthy. Duke's does offer many specials throughout the week, which might make it worth another visit. (ie half price apps, ribs day, happy hour specials, etc.)

Not a bad spot for a happy hour beer. They have a huge outdoor deck so it's a great spot when the weather is nice. The food is decent too. They have lots of TVs too so it's a good spot to watch a game.

A
Anastasia Shorr

Good for sports and relatively spacious compared to other bars in the neighborhood. You can also reserve seating if you come with a big group of friends. They have jars of punch and buckets of beer for those interested in drinking and lots of bar food with bottles of hot sauce at every table for those coming with munchies. Outdoor seating is good when it gets warm. Definitely a sportsbar vibe, so bring a murray hill party hat!

P

The food goes along with the atmosphere. A hillbilly place in the great New York City. The food is extremely edible and heavan because of the great many of TVs for sports. I feel the waitresses forget to come back_and check on the table

Food is good... Recommend the wings, however, don't come in right before the kitchen closes.... Wait staff will close your bill and then just leave you to fend for yourself. It's kind of sad that they don't have dedicated wait staff to ensure a pleasant dining experience for patrons that order and pay good money for food. Just because the kitchen closes doesn't mean that people are done with their dining experience. ...food service 101.

Great Bar for after work M-Thur. The food is typical bar food and they have usually a large and fun crowd during the work week. Definitely try their burgers! Super close to other bars too so perfect to go bar hopping after work! The cons are that when its packed its super packed and can take some time to get a hold of the bartender. Also I once found a staple in one of the jello shots. They apologized and gave me another one but still kind of disturbing.

Reliable late night food with better happy hour deals than most midtown places. Fairly large sidewalk patio. Even though it kinda feels like an Applebee's or Friday's, it is better. You'll go here just because you don't want to think about being trendy and don't really care about what you eat or drink, but that you just want something.

Awful. Brought me a drink in a dirty glass. Didn’t realize it until I picked it up and felt the dried sauce all over the glass. Ordered the BBQ sandwich with fries. Spit the sandwich back into my napkin. The 2 stars is because the fries were decent. Our waitress didn’t even question us barely touching our food. We left approximately 4 minutes after our plates were put in front of us.

Met up with some friends who were already sitting at a table. Ordered a beer and chicken tenders. The beer came. The chicken tenders didn't. Followed up with another waitress who said they were coming right out. They never came. And I got to watch the waitresses eat their food while I watched in envious hunger. Really wish I had those tenders. Probably not going back. Happy Oktoberfest.

Very disappointing experience since I have good memories about this place a few years back. The place was pretty slow since it’s a long holiday weekend in the city. We went in at 7 40 pm and did not get the food till 9 20 pm. We had to remind the staff that we did not get the food. The food items didn’t match what we ordered. We had to just pay and pack it to go. It was just sad that our experience was so different from few years back. We won’t be returning again.

We have an outing to a basketball game at Madison Square Garden every year and always go to Duke's afterward. Before yesterday, it was always great, food, service and ambience wise. Unfortunately, this may be the last time for awhile. Food was fine but service was awful. We waited 45 minutes for our appetizers with no explanation and when they arrived, we had no plates to eat with. Water and sodas ordered did not come either until then. No apology or explanation was given. We were given an incorrect check, then 10 minutes later, as we were divvying it up, given a new one with the gratuity added. I know this is probably customary with a large party; we were 9, but because of the bad service, it left a bad taste. Since we had eaten there many times before and never had a problem, it was very disappointing.

So disappointing! Walked in and there was no A/C on a 90 degree day but okay. We were seated but no one took our drink order for 15 minutes and they never even got us a cup of water. The waitress said she would be with us shortly and left us there for another 10 minutes. The hostess took our drink order, which arrived when our waitress finally did. And we were served warm beer. When I told the bartender she threw her hands up and gave me an attitude "I just poured it!"..."what do you want another drink?"... the customer service was terrible! And there were barely any people in the place, so there was literally no reason for they delay. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because I've been eating and the different Dukes locations for years and I love their food.

When we went we were excited to find a local spot with good food. However, we will have to go elsewhere for this experience. The food was so bland that I would actually hesitate to even call it bland and opt for "tasteless." Literally everything we got had zero flavor or taste. The fried pickle appetizer was just terrible. All you could taste was the gross batter they used. The burger (with egg, bacon and cheese) could not be saved with salt and also was tasteless. The brisket platter was the same. The mashed potatoes and fries (I shouldn't be surprised about this at this point...) added no value to the meal. It takes a lot of work to make the entire meal completely flavorless, but Duke's hit the nail on the head with this one. In a city where there is SO much good food, this is a definite miss. Also, there were some sketchy things with this place. First, the 16 ounce drinks were NOT 16 ounces. 16 oz is TWO cups of liquid. The drink came in a TINY mason jar. Don't be fooled by this false advertising. Secondly, the burger was supposed to come with fries and coleslaw. There was no coleslaw in site. The service was awful. We were left with no drinks for most of the meal and we waited a half hour before we could get someone to get our check for us. Let me also note that there were only about three other tables and plenty of waitstaff. While this food won't make you sick (hence the 2 stars), I would rather eat a raw potato as it would definitely have more flavor and be MUCH cheaper than this overpriced meal.

Peter C

A chill place to relax but terrible wait staff, spoke to 2 separate people to seat us. They each said it would take just a few seconds and yet we waited 15 minutes for them to seat us though there were empty tables. Once seated it took another 10-15 minutes each time we wanted to order either food or more drinks throughout the night.

D
Drew Morgan

Menu looked good online, but only a fraction of the choice at the actual restaurant. Bad food not worth the price, and worse service. The waitress also failed to mention soft drink refills aren't free. Poor choice of cut for the ribs.

R

Until they dramatically changed the menu last week to save costs, Duke’s was one of our neighborhood favorites. They removed our three favorites: beef brisket (a tender melt in the mouth delight), barbecued chicken, and a combo platter (choice of any two specialties). What barbecue-style restaurant doesn’t offer barbecued chicken?? This is what happens when a owner lets the bean counters run and ruin a restaurant. If any restaurant just offered the items that sell, most restaurants would offer three rather than ten or more main dishes. The owner made his choice, now we’ve made ours with our feet. Duke’s you’re history.

S

Ordered appetizers and a meal. Waited, got them together, asked them to hold off on the entree and had them brought nack less than 5 minutes later. The service was not ideal, the food was flavorless, the wait time atrocious. Never going back there.

C
Christian Jefferies

Well, to start off, I'd give 0 stars if it was possible and for one reason: the service here is SHOCKINGLY bad. The girl at the front of the restaurant was disrespectful, and the waitress was slow and didn't seem to care one bit (was not crowded either). for some reason the food also took forever to arrive and was mediocre at best. I have never been treated so poorly at a food establishment. Will never return.

S
Satchel Schultz

The food was pretty good but the waiters took their sweet time bringing us our drinks especially during happy hour. Not the first place I would go for a couple of drinks after work that’s for sure.

E
Ed Diaz

nachos were gross didnt even finish them. And they're dirty, I told the waitress that i had seen a rat running around table to table and she blames the fact that its summer and they might run in every now an then since the doors are always open. but the place looks gross regardless the lights make it look cool n all but nah, the ceiling looks like floor tiles take a look for yourselves

Me and my partner got food poisoning from your restaurant last night. We ordered bbq wings, mozzarella sticks and chilli. Food tasted ok for a pub, but we both have been having terrible stomach pains and food ‘coming out’ over last 20 hours. Would never ever ever go back again

M

First time here was a great experience, was looking forward to coming back since we recently moved to the neighborhood. Second time here and really disappointed. Sat at the bar for happy hour and the bartender didn’t make eye contact once. Would have loved to order an app for happy hour after sitting there for 30 minutes but the only time she came over was 1. To give us the self serve beer card 2. To bring us the check after we literally flagged her down. Instead we went across the street for an app and another beer & had a great experience. If you were a single guy at the bar? great service. But a couple, she couldn’t be bothered to even look at you let alone take your order (after we asked for a menu btw) If I came back I would rather sit at a table then experience this sort of service at the bar again.

Last nite my friends and I went to Dukes and were disappointed. I have been going to Dukes for the past ten years and recently it has gone down hill. The place is falling apart, not properly kept and dirty. We were seated at a booth and the seat cushion fell off revealing old food and dirt. The chairs and outside tables are tattered and worn. Most disappointing is the menu changed for the worse. No more chicken fried chicken with gravy and mashed potatoes! The burger and sandwich assortment grew and added fried chicken. The prices went out and the restroom was dirty and not serviced providing paper towels. It’s quite obvious the owner does not want to be bothered and wants out of the lease. I also made a call to nyc health department informing them on the dirty and unhealthy environment. Don’t go !

This is the first time I am ever writing a complaint about my customer service experience at any restaurant and that explains the extent to which I was disappointed with the absolutely terrible experience I received at the restaurant today. Before sitting down we were told we would have to pay in cash because the machine was broken and we were all fine with that. I was with a group of people and everything was fine we ordered and were looking forward to our meal. I was personally satisfied with the food that our ordered but 2 of my friends in my group had to have their burgers made again because they were actually burnt. That was not a problem and we were happy that you guys were willing to fix the issue. The problem came up when were getting ready to pay. The waitress came up to us and told us (with no apology I may add) that the machine was broken and they would not be able to give us a physical check. She told us that with gratuity already in the bill it would be $180. We all got our money together to pay and realized that the price seemed a little off. We asked again if there was any way to get a physical receipt and she said we would have to wait 10-15 minutes. We said okay, we will wait. She came back 2 minutes later and said that the cost with tax was $145 and there was a 20% gratuity fee already put in. We said we will still wait for the check to be done and even asked them to write it out on a piece of paper and she said it will take another 15-20 minutes. We decided to wait for that time. After waiting a bit longer, the waitress came back and tried to reiterate what she already told us about the price without offering us a check. I asked to speak to the manager and she came over. Without saying anything, the first thing out of the managers mouth was "What's the problem?" Her attitude and annoyance was extremely evident and I was shocked at the irritation in not only her voice but that of the waitress as well. I explained the situation and all she did was make excuses for the machine not working and the gratuity being mandatory. I told her that we would be willing to pay the gratuity but it is not adding up. After back and forth discussion that seemed to be going no where it, the manager actually RAISED HER VOICE at me? THE CUSTOMER. I work in food service and I was extremely shocked at the rudeness of the service and the clear irritation of the employees. At this point, I stated that we all agree that our service is not worth a 20% gratuity because of the burnt food, bad service, rude attitude of the employees, machine not working, and just all the general failures of the experience. Another point that was brought up was the policy that a 20% gratuity is mandatory with over 8 people. If my sources are correct, gratuity everywhere in the state of New York is voluntary under state law. I have never been so disappointed and angered by a customer service experience. I hope that my complaint can aid you in improving your customer service and general service at the Duke's restaurant.

M
Milagros Garcia

Since the menu changed food is not that great. The tenders are the only good thing they have. I use to order the Miss Dixie's Buttermilk Boneless Fried Chicken that was amazing. I got all my coworkers hooked on it. Last time we went the chicken was soggy after being freshly fried not sure how you can get that wrong. Another time I order Chicken and Waffles and it came with a side of corn on the cobb. When I turned the cobb around to butter it let me tell you it was blacker than black. I'm really not one to complain about food but if the cook cared they wouldn't serve you unacceptable food. As far as the service, it has always been horrible. The waitresses don't smile and they ignore you right after walking you to your seats. You have to wave them down to order and then after you order prepare to wait another 30mins for drinks and food to come out. Then you need to wave them down again to pay and get out of there. The staff they have working here could careless about there job.
