Opinions de Tam Sang New York
The best food and best service we had in New York. Perfect if you need Gluten Free. So yummy such beautiful service
Great little Thai place with amazing food although a bit on the pricy side. Lots of interesting choices - experiment!
My favorite is the Peanut Curry with Beef. The food is very good and tasty. The young lady who takes the orders is very friendly and the service is great.
I'm very picky on my pad Thai, and this is by far the best I've had in NYC. Ordered delivery and was really into the texture, taste and ingredients.
First time having Tai food. I had no idea what I wanted but the lady was very nice/helpful and basically choosing what I wanted and it turned out to be delicious. Highly recommend!
Every time I’m in Murray Hill I get Pad Thai here. The Lemon grass soup is fantastic too.
Super quick, fresh, hot, and good portion sizes! Loved the fresh spring rolls and pad see ew.
Great! Not a lot of indoor seating, but still awesome food!
The cashier was great and deserves a raise! The food was also great! 9/10. Great place for lunch.
Chicken Pad Thai…amazingly delicious. Will make this a regular stop on NYC visits. Food was ready in minutes too.
One of the best thai food I've had in Manhattan. Friendly and fast service!
Awesome Thai food, Drunk man spicy noodles were delicious.
Good food, the dishes are flavorful. The menu has an array of Thai dishes.
Excellent food and cozy hole in wall thai place. Friendly staff. Would highly recommend.
Small gem in midtown Manhattan. Food is delicious and service is great!! Highly recommended.
Very cute, pad Thai was delicious. Food was quick!
Tasty authentic Thai Pad Seeiew at a nice convenient location. Will definitely return.
Great spot for authentic Thai Local ingredients Organic and gluten free option Let’s get spicy...
We ate there and the food is very authentic and delicious.
Even when they are very busy, they still get your order pretty quick! Busy means they are doing it right!
The most authentic Thai food I've had in Manhattan since Pam's Real Thai closed in 2020 due to covid. Everything is authentic and flavorable. Don't be afraid to order it spicy!
Great Thai food, and it is also gluten-free. Not much room to sit down, so I would classify this as a more of a grab and go, but they did have seating indoors and outdoors
The best drunken noodles. Homemade wide rice noodles and really fresh, bright ingredients.
Extremely delicious pad thai, great taste and really saucy which I love. The staff was extremely kind, very quick service and a clean restaurant.
A bit overpriced with small portions, but the mango sticky rice was amazing!
best chicken satay i’ve had in the city. My bf and i got the chicken satay and a curry to split and that was plenty of food for the both of us.
Sampled the rice bowl with Peking Duck. The duck was succulent and complimented the other mixtures in the meal. I am looking forward to my next visit to try other dishes.
While visiting New York, we chose Tam Sang from the many Thai restaurants near our hotel, and we're so very glad we did! Because of celiac, we eat a lot of Thai food, and especially a lot of Pad Thai. The food was excellent, and the Pad Thai was the best I've had anywhere. It was a great balance of just a little bit sweet (not sickly sweet like many restaurants), salty, sour, and spicy. And Sandra was very helpful in letting us know which dishes could be made gluten free. We wish we hadn't only discovered this gem on our last night there. Do note though, that while most of the items listed on the menu have a (GF) designation next to them, apparently only a few dishes can be made gluten free. Not sure why their menu makes it appear that more are.
Phenomenal. It's so rare to find a place with any discernable spice. This place is probably a genuine thai medium, which is absolutely perfect. Thank you, Tam Sang for not watering it down. Please don't change as this will become my go to Thai place in Manhattan.
Good Thai food. A small corner shop with a friendly staff. I tried their Green Curry and the Southern minced chicken. Love it! The Green curry makes me feel like I am back home in Thailand and the Southern style Chicken is definitely given you the authentic Thai food feeling. The southern dish is spicy even for me, a Thai person. So make sure to tell them how spicy you want it to be. Also, lovely painting at the wall from a famous Thai’s artist @gongkan !!! I surprised to find it here!! Amazing! Overall, love the place and definitely will come back again for more. 😍
Most delicious meal. Cooked fresh and hot. This is what fast food is like.
Their vegetable fried rice and chicken pad thai are so flavorful and not greasy at all. It's pricey, yes, most dishes range from 15 to 18 and the service is pleasant It's probably one of the best Thai food places outside of Thailand!
Such an amazing Thai food I’ve ever had and I will suggest getting the Thai iced tea to those who love bubble tea! The people here who work here are so nice! Hope to come here again❤️. Would give more then 5 stars if possible
Randomly stopped here while I was in town for work to grab dinner. My order came out quickly and was still hot by the time I walked to my hotel. I got the spring rolls and pad Thai. Try the spring rolls! They were a bit unexpected for something pretty basic. Super crispy and they were seasoned with pepper. Would definitely stop by again!
We loved this restaurant. The staff was very friendly, the dishes were fragrant and the prices were reasonable. Don't hesitate to try it!!
We ordered pickup here and loved everything. Nice woman working there and really happy everything tasted healthy. I wanted something tasty but not dripping with oil and this was flavorful but from fresh product and spices not from oil. Thanks!
Great Thai food spot! Be mindful of the spice level because when they say spicy they mean spicy! We love that they use organic ingredients. The food is not overly oily and has great flavor!
Chanced upon this place in the streets of NYC. Extra compliments for being sensitive to the requirements of a vegetarian. The host particularly told me to avoid a dish that looked vegetarian but contained non vegetarian broth. I had the Pad Thai with vegetables and tofu with peanuts. Absolutely delicious. It'll be great if they can chance the plastic cutlery to a more environment friendly alternative.
We took one chef special meal and one chicken pad see ew. It was very tasty, served very quickly. There is one big 4 people table inside, one 2 people table and a few solo bar chairs. The waitress is very kind. There is no toilet, but there is a bar next which allows you to use their restroom.
Couldn't fault it, good food, good location and GF!
Delicious lunch special chicken bowl :). Fresh veggies, tasty meat well balanced with white rice. Definitely will come back to try more of their food. Very nice customer service :)
I order duck noodle soup for my lunch. Mushroom dumplings are so good. Good place near Grand central
I love this cost little spot that has become my go to place. I ate the wild caught shrimps with Thai fried rice today and it was delicious
A lunchtime gem in midtown. Their rice bowls are great for lunch to go- great portion and tasty food. Much better offering than other lunch specials but same price (12-15 dollars). It includes salad, spring roll, and egg which rounds it all out beautifully. New staple for me.
I had the chicken stay rice express meal at Tam Sang today. I have been eyeing this spot for a while and only regret not trying this out earlier. The food was mouth watering. The service was beyond amazing. Kudos to the whole team. Definitely coming back for more and bringing all my friends here.
Shoutout to whoever posted that bowl for a lunch special. I got it and I ate every last crumb. Delicious and great value for money. Highly recommend. I got the BBQ chicken and asked for less spice. It was perfect.
The best thai food you will ever find in the city! Always fresh, always delicious & always light. Feels clean & healthy. For deliveries I just want you to not always include utensils & or plates. You should ask customers if they want them. And perhaps consider switching to paper containers. We must stop using plastic.
If you're looking for delicious, spicy, savory, or sweet (or all three!) meals then look no further! This place is phenomenal. The store is clean and well lit. The menu is easy to read and follow. The workers are very friendly and organized. Let's discuss this food though; because MAN is it good! Presentation: 4/5 | This is minute (my-noot) simply because we are here to eat not judge art. Even then, the food is colorful which adds to it's enjoyment. Plating I haven't been able to experience because I normally take my food to eat at my desk 1 block over on 40th. Taste: 5/5 | Phenomenal. I have tasted 3 different plates multiple times and not once have I been failed/disappointed. Price: 3/5 | $$ Most entrees and plates are in the range of 10 to 20 bucks. Today I decided to pick up a "Fire Grilled BBQ Chicken Roti" but was promptly told that Roti bread was sold out. What a shame! It's affordable and delicious! I decided to mix it up and go with "Fire Grilled BBQ Chicken over Rice". As I waited for my food the bustle of nearby patrons filled the small store with a lively anticipation. You could clearly see everyone's face full of delight as they waited on their dish to be handed over to them. Being that this was my 6th time at this restaurant, I completely understood the agonizing wait for the wonderful food about to be consumed. The combination of sweet, savory and spicy play so well together that after the first bite you're eager to jump right back in for your next. The chicken isn't dry and has a great consistency/bite; the rice is fluffy and soft (rewarding) to chew; the salad was crunchy and fresh. Note! If you have a sensitivity to capsaicin, be aware that the spicy food here does not have grades. You may be able to ask for a reduced amount of spicy ingredients but I encourage you to brave the dishes as they're cooked to be (if you're not allergic of course.) Contrary to older reviews, every time I've had food here, I've always received fresh food that's great tasting. Chefs are human and have good and bad days as well. But every time I've bought food here, I get closer to falling in love and becoming obsessed with the cuisine. Thank you for taking the time to read this, now get your order in! Each bite is to die for! -Rafael
Finding Northern Thai food outside of the region is tricky. And finding a recognisable/edible bowl of Khao Soi, pretty impossible. This tiny neighborhood eatery has many delicious dishes, from various wrapped and fried yummies to my lifetime obsession (and culinary crack) khao soi. In brief this place has all you want in a local comfort food stop. Nice people, clean and bright interior, and good food. Homemade Thai tea! They've mellowed the flavors for non-spicy palates, just ask for more chili.
Best green curry I’ve ever had! It was creamy and smooth, and the squid was perfectly soft. The Thai iced tea was delicious as well.

"Finally found a place that does authentic Thai comfort food right! Tam Sang exceeded my expectations. I ordered the Basil Crispy Pork (Pad Krapow) and the wok hei (breath of the wok) was incredible. You can really taste the freshness of the ingredients. A must-visit if you’re looking for a real taste of Thailand."
Delicious meal of tai fried rice with shrimp! Everything was very fresh and the staff was very helpful and kind!
Best Thai iced coffee in NYC. Their pad Thai and drunken noodles are excellent. I frequent here for dinner to go.
Really nice cashew chicken and large portions. It is a takeaway (pickup) but there are seats to eat in which we did.
The service was amazing here! Ordered the Drunk Man spicy noodles & they were way too spicy, but they took it back and gave me the Pad Se Ew instead. I would highly recommend asking to make the dishes less spicy based on your preference. The noodles for flavorful, but a little too chewy. The green curry was also very spicy. Most of the options can be made vegetarian. if your dining in the temperature is a little hot but bearable. very cute, cozy vibes.
Good, but a bit inconsistent. I've had some wonderful pad thai here, but i've also had a few stops where the noodles are all sticking together with barely enough sauce. Most of the time it's delicious — the flavors and variety are all there — but i've been disappointed a few times as well.
Cute place on Lexington. Very close to Grand central. It’s tiny and all the food are serve in plastic containers which makes taking leftover very easy. Serving sizes are a great portion. Chicken pad thai was yummy. General Tsp chicken was good too.
Decent Thai food but it's not to die for. The portion are small. Good for convenience and if you are craving it. Always get it to go as there is no atmosphere inside.

Pad see ew was decent, but they gave me the wrong protein (tofu instead of grass-fed steak). This doesn't really make me want to try them again.
Just ordered through Seamless and the pad Thai doesn't have much flavor.
This place is average at best. Food tasted like it was cooked in a week old oil and was very bland. The inside could really use some remodeling as it has a zero appeal.
Food is good but this place is not for dining in. They only offer plastic bowls, and the soup and noodles were almost impossible to eat without spilling everywhere.
I ordered from this restaurant twice on Ubereats and BOTH times they messed up my order. I ordered 2 entrees, 1 basil fried rice and 1 spicy basil sauce, and both times they gave me 2 orders of basil fried rice. Like How?!?! How do you make the same mistake twice?! The rice was good, so 2 stars...
They clearly don't care about the customer. Woman didn't look up from phone to take our order, then only took my friend's order without acknowledging me. Food was bland at best... seating is random and uncomfortable. Not hospitable at all.
The person who took the order was nice and the place looked clean. But the pad thai i ordered to go had WAY too much soup to be called pad thai and the noodles were all cut up. It kinda looked like they were cooked last night, kept in fridge, and heated up in a microwave. Won't try to order pad thai from here again
No “wok” heat on the drunken noodles. Soup was bland but spicy.
I felt like there are other better Thai resto options around. The salmon teriyaki is indeed good but its cold when they served it to me. The thai milk tea tastes nothing like thai tea and its completely watered down. I also ordered pad see ew and it lacked seasoning - its the worst ive ever tasted (im sorry) . Also all food costs me around 45$ if im recall its too pricey!
Stopped by b/c 1, 2 Thai was closed for the new year holiday and this was close (geographically, but sadly, not experientially). I really hate to give unflattering reviews, esp b/c the lady at the counter was so friendly. The meal started out promisingly with a papaya salad. That was actually great. Then the main dishes arrived and both failed to impress. One was the satay plate; however, the meat was deep fried instead of broiled resulting in it being dry and difficult to chew. The other main was “bbq chicken” but we decided not to eat it b/c I questioned the freshness of the meat. It gave off a strange after taste - like,,, meat that’s been boiled too long or cooked several times? The hard boiled eggs also smelled suspicious. IDK, we didn’t want to risk getting ill so we threw it away. Worst of all, there were bits of stale/several-day old rice that were as hard as rocks. Someone could break their teeth is they bit down hard enough… We didn’t bring any of these issues to the staffs’ attention… not worth it. I’d go back for the papaya salad but I doubt I’d be adventurous enough to try anything else.

A bit of a let down of a restaurant. Went here with a friend for a meal out of Grand Central Terminal. The place is quaint and well decorated which was nice. Service for the order was solid, but the menu was a bit confusingly laid out to figure out what came with each order. Appetizers were ridiculously expensive and nearly the price of a meal. This would be fine if the portions but they were actually quite small, with the meals costing nearly $20 a piece for a below-average sized meal. While the main courses were solid, they were not large or flavorful enough to justify their size. This did not extend to their appetizers, where the duck dumplings were made with middling meat. Service by this point was also subpar, where another appetizer took nearly 20 minutes past the meal to arrive. For value, for taste, and for service, I hope to not eat here again.

Disappointing. Food lacked flavor and spice. I’ve eaten here twice: first time was underwhelming, most recent pad Thai experience was the worst Thai dish I’ve ever eaten.
Just had the worst experience, could even call it discrimination, I was having a nice lunch with a friend talking in Spanish, when the cashier yells at us doing a hand gesture to not talk, she told us we had no manners and no respect for her and other costumers, I was only having lunch with a friend.
The cashier was extremely rude, telling us over the counter to stop talking and that we had no manners, I was having a conversation in Spanish with my coworker, Ive been here many times and I’m very surprised by her rude actions and specially her having the courage to yell at us “we have no manners, I’m here and so are more clients” in front of other people, I was just trying to enjoy lunch with a conversation.
I placed a large order, so instead of making it, they made the food for the people behind me & then made my "large" order. That is not the way to run a kitchen. In the time u made those customers' food, u could have been making mine. Plus, I paid more money & was made to wait longer. They charge more than sit-down entree price, for take-outs. Not worth the price.
I’d visited on 15-Apr-2023, Overall so so bad. Taste and portion are worst as I ever had in all Thailand restaurants! Prices also high and don’t waste your money at that place!
I would give this restaurant a 0 star. The lady who took the order was very rude and rip- off! She didn’t even give me my changes because she told me she don’t have it. Also the customer service was poor. Though seats were available, she kept saying that this place it for to go. I do not recommend this place.
Ordered mushroom dumplings and they gave me microwaved soggy & stuck balls of dough. You would tell these were microwaved because I actually heard it, but the dough was translucid, and I couldn't separate them. Only ate half and threw the rest. Won't be recommending this place.
My reservation for meal was made for 12:00 PM, came in a bit later to make sure it was ready without waiting. It took 20 minutes to get my order. Meal Pal concept is you scan you get your food to avoid wait time. Also the customer service was poor when I asked twice where my order was. I do not recommend this place. Not to mention the wrap I received was very small.
Taste is so terrible if compared with other Thailand restaurants. Prices are higher and portion couldn’t have enough for single ppl. Wanna rate 0 star!!! Stay away from this terrify place!
This used to be my go-to lunch spot. The food was tasty, service was quick, and portions were generous. Unfortunately, they’ve recently raised their prices while significantly cutting portion sizes. To make matters worse, the food just doesn’t taste as good as it used to. Overall, I’m disappointed with the changes.
At first the food was excellent. But as I keep going it was getting to be less portions and more add stuff. And the taste was getting bad. Not sure if its the same owners but the food has gone down in a very short time.
Ordered lunch here today and confirmed multiple times that the meal was vegan. When I got home it had mayonnaise included on top of the meal. I called to confirm it wasn’t vegan and the lady on the phone (same person who told me it was vegan) did not care whatsoever and blew me off, no apology or offer to make it right. Total waste of money and time to get the meal. Have some consideration for customers. Do not recommend.
Don’t come here if you’re vegan or have any sort of dietary restriction. We were told the meal was vegan multiple times and came home to find it was not. When we called to confirm it was not vegan as promised she basically hung up the phone. Also I asked if they had any vegan Thai iced tea ( just asking if they had non dairy milk) and the same lady literally laughed out loud and said no which was very rude considering most businesses have non dairy options in 2024. Just generally terrible to customers. Sorry that we tried to give you business, we won’t make that mistake again. Edit: forgot to add the meal we ordered was fully labelled as vegan but it is not, it contains mayonnaise. That is straight up just unethical to advertise this way.
Unfortunately the two of us had bad experience. Food had barely any flavor, everything is super tame. The Tom Yum soup was to spicy while flavor was mild, the shrimps in the phrik Thai, were bland, barely any spice or sauce. The price was not cheap either while serving for dine in, in plastic take out containers. I think they cut corners because food was ready in 5 min, not possible to cook it from scratch. Definitely not authentic well prepared Thai and not worth the price, but if you never had good authentic Thai food you might actually like this. Customer service should also be improved I complained about the quality of the food but the lady working there didn’t offer to rectify the situation in anyway other than add more paper to the dish.
I've been buying takeout here since the restaurant opened. Not sure if they have a new owner now, but I've noticed things have changed recently. For example, their meat dishes now come with sliced meat. I preferred "the old way" when the meat was cubed and had a crispy outer. It was original, and why I frequented this place over other Thai restaurants in the area. My most recent visit is what put me in an awkward position of writing a bad review. I ordered pork with Asian broccoli, but got beef instead (No big deal). With that said, the two younger women who were working charged me $25.04. Two weeks prior, I order the same item that they gave me (beef with Asian broccoli) and was charged $20 plus change (different employee) which is a major price inconsistency in my opinion. Also, the portion size was very small compared to the dish I had two weeks prior and the Asian broccoli didn't seem as fresh. Was there a 25 percent increase in their prices in two weeks? I don't think so. I think the two employees didn't know what to charge me since the item is not on the menu. I was hesitant at first and thought of walking out of there. However, I was hungry and wasn't in the mood to argue over 5 dollars; it's not the money, it's the principle of the matter. I tried to explain the pricing issue with the two employees but it was obvious that they didn't care. Not sure if I will be going back. Sorry, but that's how I feel.
I was pretty impressed with this Thai spot until towards the end of my experience there. I had intentions of tipping cash so I skipped the tip tab while checking out. the Lady holding the POS machine, backtracked to the tip page & rudely stated that I must tip, while Hovering her hand over the skip button, blocking me from selecting that option.I respect food services and workers in the industry. But this is never Ok.
Mushroom dumplings were the worst dumplings I’ve ever eaten. Tasteless and rubbery. Not only does it cost me $10 for 4 bad dumplings, It made me feel sick when I finished 2. I also ordered the summer rolls. Two for $9 which had 2 half prawns and iceberg lettuce and watered down peanut butter. I paid $22 in all for one of the worst light dinners around. The cafe smelt stale and my friend who had a sensitive sense of smell walked in and told me she smells rats. I would never come back again.
Tofu pad Thai was very saucy with strange flavor. No peanuts. Tofu was spongy. Not like any pad Thai I’ve had before, in a bad way. I’ve never had pad Thai with celery, mushrooms and green beans. Very disappointing.

They use door dash whose carriers cannot read numbers. I am still waiting for my order; the person left it somewhere. The restaurant denies all responsibility and refuses to return my payment. Find a Thai restaurant that delivers to the proper address.
