Opinions de Zucker's Bagels & Smoked Fish New York
Okay, I have been ordering from Zucker's for about 3 years. I live in NW Montana. To say the bagels are incredible simply does not describe how 'incredible' they are. There are countless bagels which from my experience are nothing more than rolls of circled dough. The Z-Bagel is what a real NY bagel should be and more. I had not tried the salmon spread until this order. And... The same could be said for this spread, outstanding. Next order I will go for the lox. Thank you folks. I am a 73 year old mostly retired doc and "Z-Bagels Rock!" Thanks folks!
I loved Zuckers! The staff were so friendly and very quick. I got the Flatiron and it was so so delicious. They stuff it full so it is well worth what you pay. I love smoked salmon bagels and this one did not disappoint with its avocado and green onion cream cheese stuffed between a perfect everything bagel.
Tried Zuckers for the first time and it’s easy to understand why people love it! Warm and friendly quick service. Piping hot bagels. I got my usual, an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese. The bagel’s taste and texture were perfect. I would definitely go back! Tried my friend’s bagel with their new chipotle cream cheese and really enjoyed that as well. It’s definitely spicy but delicious! Close to area attractions and hotels, for an easy morning bite. Would stop again!
My husband looked up local bagel places. We chose to come here and we are so glad we did! The bagels and coffee were so goood! I regret not getting a breakfast sandwich too! The potatoes latkes were good as well! Great location too, by Grand Central terminal and the Chrysler building!
A place so good we stopped twice. I got the classic breakfast sammie, both with and without the potato latke (I liked it both ways!) on an everything bagel. Delish! My partner tried the Flatiron the first day and the Leo the second. He preferred the Flatiron because of the way the salmon was presented (raw vs smoked). I'll be stopping again!
Best smoked salmon bagel I've tried! My wife was not too eager to try given that we have amazing bagels in Montreal, but she would be willing to drive 6 hours right now if I told her we were going for a one of these bagels.
What's there to say other than Zucker's serves the BEST GD Bagels I have ever had. I cannot imagine there could be any better. The service is fast (even with a line) and the reward for the wait is MORE than justifiable. EVERYTHING we had at Zucker's was fresh and beyond expectations. YES, 5 out 5, YES INDEED!
We had the truffle egg sandwich and the fall special with peanut butter, banana, Nutella and pumpkin cream cheese. We really liked both sandwiches. There was enough seating inside so we didn't have to get it to go. The coffee selection was very basic so I got coffee elsewhere but would return for bagels if we were nearby.
Went on Friday morning around 8am and there were no lines. When I went up to order, I requested the smoked trout and the counter guy recommended The Alton. Which has Smoked Trout, Plain Cream Cheese, Avocado, Horseradish and Tobiko on a bialy. It wound up being delicious! I would highly recommend this. My second order was for a pastrami smoked salmon on garlic bread w scallion cream cheese which was ok. They have so many varieties and I look forward to coming back to try more.
Zucker's is a supreme bagel shop, especially for breakfast and considered as one of the top bagel shops, especially the traditional New York style. They serve extremely valid tasting bagel sandwiches. It was so delicious that I came TWICE in a WEEK. All the bagels (despite having the everything and onion) they got go well with any sandwich and ingredient they put from the cream cheeses, spreads and all. The bagel sandwiches are so loaded that you get what you pay for them. Each bagel ordered is sure to fuel you up. Enjoyed the bagel sandwich on each time I visited. Service was fast and efficient, as workers worked fast to get orders out in a timely manner. Zucker's cares about the quality of the food, time of when your order gets to the customer and interactions between the staff and customer.
Great experience here. I arrived around 7:45 AM on a Tuesday morning and the place was empty. I ended up getting the "Traditional" on an everything bagel. (Lox, cream cheese, onions and capers) It was about $14 after tax but that is the norm for midtown. All of the staff there; three counter people and a manager (seemed like a manager) were very nice and patient. The bagel was great. Everything tasted fresh. I woul love to return again when I am in the area. No indoor seating during COVID. Also, the floor was marked for social distancing.
Medium sized bagel specialty shop with an extensive menu. I must've spent five minutes just trying to decide what to order. Later I learned that their online menu has pictures, which would have helped a lot. There was a ten minute queue to order but we were able to find seats quickly. The place was full of people tucking into their bagels or deep in conversation so it was a bit hard to hear when my name was called to pick up the food. The bagels, of course, were delicious. I had plain cream cheese on pumpernickel. My companion felt that the toppings on the everything bagel overwhelmed the spread. Recommended for any bagel fan near Grand Central Station which was just around the corner.
Loved the Truffled Egg, includes 2 eggs with truffle oil cream cheese and sautéed mushrooms. Slightly messy as with all good bagels and totally worth it. Place your order on the left along the drinks/refrigerator and then wait for your order on the larger right side. Decent number of tables but it’s very busy during weekend breakfast hours… you will have to out-hustle some of the tourists.
I knew nothing about this place! I actually came on a whim after having my car break down on the highway, get turned away from work, because I was so late, and left hungry in New York City. To my surprise, this place was quite affordable for lunch, and had very quality and delicious options. I ordered the whitefish bagel(picture included below). I don’t believe my meal exceeded US$10. The staff was quite polite, despite the clothing time approaching, and I was able to sit down and finish my bagel before leaving the premises. I look forward to visiting this location once again. Great job! One of the best I’ve had In NYC
I love Zuckers because it has so many bagel toppings options and most importantly really good gluten free bagels! I got the bacon (substituted turkey bacon) egg and cheese on a gluten free everything bagel and it was delicious. The staff work quickly, are very friendly, and want to make sure every order is correct. The tofu cream cheese is also really well done, and you can have it on a vegan bagel. This Zucker's location has a lot more seating than some of the others, but you're also a 5 minute walk from Bryant Park if you want to take your bagel there to eat.
I was visiting New York and was craving a bagel and from the reviews decided to check out Zucker’s Bagels & Smoked fish out. The location and restaurant were very clean and seemed to be organized chaos is a good way. When I arrived the line was out the door with a mix of locals and tourists. The staff were efficient and fast at getting the orders out. I ordered the traditional bagel with cream cheese, smoked salmon, onions, and capers. Let’s just say it did not disappoint it was delicious with generous portion size. I would definitely recommend and will revisit on my next trip.
First timer here. My husband just finished one half of the Zucker’s traditional in less than a minute. I still can’t believe it. We’ve tried a fair share of bagels in midtown, Manhattan, and this one is on top of our list. We will have to try one with cream cheese to see if that’s also good.
We went there one morning on a whim, and found ourselves back there for breakfast twice more until we left NYC. Probably one of the best bagel places we’ve eaten at, and the ambiance was great. Really good music playing, even when they had a church service playing on Sunday morning (which seemed odd?). The lox was great, and we especially loved the dirty chai lattes! Iced was best.
A perfect stop before a day of exploring. We tried the BEC bagel and a pumpernickel with tomato/garlic spread which were both delicious. My friend got the truffle egg bagel which was unique and yummy as well. The coffee and lattes were on point. Service is at the counter but pretty quick and easy. A cute vibe with window seats to just hangout with a coffee/snack during the rain and people watch!
Staff was patient and friendly!! It was busy and we found out why… SO GOOD! I had bagel lox and my sister had honey jalapeño on a toasted bagel! Coffee was good too!!
Got my order in a snowstorm !! 🌨️❄️🌨️Good food and thanks for staying open and doing deliveries in a storm! Great to have gluten free bagel options!!! Will be back!
The bagel with lox was excellent! I would definitely recommend! I have to admit, I had no idea what I was ordering, but I manned up and told the server I was a tourist and he told me exactly what to get. I really appreciate that, the bagel was exactly what I was looking for!
Forgot to bring lunch to the office today so what’s a girl to do? Check out the local eateries of which there are so many competing interests for your green backs 💰 I’ve had their bagels for breakfast but never lunch. Well they didn’t disappoint. First time trying Zucker’s tuna melt on a freshly made garlic bagel, topped off with Swiss cheese and I added a slice of beefsteak tomato. They put the “D” in Deelish on this one! Hand rolled, premium bagels, always fresh, always satisfying. The wait is never too long and the service is with a smile. They’ve made some renovations post COVID and have a wheelchair accessible entrance and dining now which is just awesome! Just shy of $13 bucks was over my lunch budget for some tuna but hey… a Girl’s gotta treat herself every now and then without feeling guilty about it. Like I could have bought 4 cans of tuna on sale for $13 bucks kinda guilt! How blessed are we? Cheers to the good life 🥂
They have delicious bagels! I ordered everything bagel toasted with lox spread and garlic bagel toasted with cream cheese. It was all good and coffee was good too. They also have other sandwich options too. There are plenty of nice seats so it’s a nice spot for breakfast and brunch! 🍽️
My niece chose Zucker’s Bagels and Smoked Fish for breakfast this morning during our trip. It’s a spacious bagel bakery and coffee shop that keeps a brisk but calm pace. Plenty of offerings for bagels, schmear and sandwiches …and we agreed that so far this was our favorite bagel. You know how you bite into some bagels and you really have to pull to take the bite? You won’t have to do that with a Zucker’s bagel. My niece had her favorite, an Everything with Scallion Cream Cheese, and I had a breakfast bagel with egg, bacon and cheddar. Delish!Add onto this, the coffees were both substantial in flavo, so breakfast was a WINNER! 🙌🏻 We also enjoyed the space, full of evenly spaced and different sized tables. You could hear people conversing but you weren’t overtaken by conversation. The employees were professional but not overly friendly, due in part by the pace at which they were delivering a great meal. As we left I noticed there is a step going down from the platform seating area - if you visit here with someone visually or mobility impaired, make sure you help them down that step! It’s not marked. Definitely a great breakfast and coffee, see you on our next trip, Zucker’s!
One of the best bagel sandwiches we’ve had! This is a great place for breakfast and lunch. We went there just before lunch time. Ordering was tricky at first, but once you figure it out, it is fine. We ordered the traditional (smoked salmon) and the alton brown (smoked trout), and the food came out pretty quickly. Both the smoked salmon and smoked trout tasted really good. The bagels were one of the best we had. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food we got. Highly recommend if you are around the area.

We loved their bagels! It is a good way to start the day, and they open pretty early. We had the one with smoked salmon. Staff were friendly.

Amazing bagels and cream cheese. You can’t go wrong with Zucker’s. Quick and efficient service. Coffee also very good (better than Starbucks imo).
Excellent bagel shop and my wife really loved the smoked fish. Hands down, you should go here if you're looking for a great bagel. Even though the line was long, it moved quickly. The service was …
Bagels are good, light on the cream cheese. Plain bagel of this size and amount of cream cheese for $4.50 is steep, but expected for this area of the city and the huge space this place takes up $3.25 for a small coffee is outrageously expensive however. They recently remodeled and expanded here. They reversed the ordering process that every other normal nyc bagel place abides by. You usually order first then pay, so your order is immediately started THEN you pay. With this new remodel you now pay first & order. It now takes longer to get a bagel in your hands if there is a line at the register to pay/order. It’s obvious this place is now catering to tourists looking for “the best bagel in nyc” which Zucker’s absolutely doesn’t have.
It's honestly not as good as I thought it would be. I was going on a hike with some friends early Saturday morning and needed a quick and filling bite beforehand. I got a salmon lox and egg everything bagel, but it was weirdly not that tasty and had barely any cream cheese. $15 for a bagel sandwich too! Even in this economy, it's a little overpriced. Granted it's right outside Grand Central, but still. It's fine if you're in a pinch, at least they got everything out fairly quickly.
I got the traditional sandwich and it was amazing! The smoked salmon was one of the best I've ever had and the sandwich was stacked with it. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because it took them 30+ minutes to complete our order. Other people in my party ordered egg sandwiches and I guess it took them 30+ minutes cook up the eggs? Otherwise, highly recommend!
An overwhelming choice of bagels to choose from, customer service not very friendly though. The staff repeatedly bark at you to order, even if there is no one else in the queue. Every customer seemed a little put out by this. I asked for a recommendation on a bagel and was told dismissively that I had to choose my own. Not sure they understood what a 'recommendation' was. :-) Then my server wandered off somewhere irritated. Anyway, when I did get served, the bagel was fantastic and huge, enough for two meals. Although $17 for a breakfast bagel is a little bit pricey. Place is clean and nicely decorated, conveniently situated too.
Liked the food quite a bit, but the gluten free everything bagel was small and under seasoned. The texture of the GF bagel was actually really nice. Although it was a bit small, I did really enjoy the experience. I have attached pictures of my normal traditional, as well as my wife's gluten free traditional for comparison.
Smoked fish on a bagel? I would’ve never thought of that but man this is good. I got The Alton Brown, and it was not dry as I thought it was would be. The roe was uneven in placement, but everything else is evenly structured. instagram: xcyanneats When ordering it was confusing because the lady didn’t confirm my order, or she may have but didn’t go in detail of my order because I wanted the “meal” but she assumed that I just want the bagel so I didn’t get all requested which is fine. The bagel was enough for me anyways, I did add a side of mac and it was delicious Atmosphere was nice and calm. They are doing construction outside at this time so be ware if youre trying to find it as the door is small and if you need a spot to relax. This would be the place after the fix up
Old school bagel spot. Not a ton of seating. Couple choice spots near window for some people watching. Place was packed. My everything bagel was large, fresh and pricey but quite tasty. Coffee was more than decent. Scored one of those choice window seats and ended up having a great conversation with one of the employees from Trinidad. I'd goback. Highly recommend.
Great customer service. Food was good. Had order a large vanilla soy latte. They left the vanilla out, of course didn't realize until I arrived home. Was so surprised when coffee had no flavor. But sandwich was very good.
its an ok place to visit if you want to eat a breakfast bagel and go to work, not the best but ok....the prices were ok and the place has many tables to sit and eat.

We went to Zucker on two occasions, in different manhattan locations during our New York trip. Wonderful bagels and coffee. Good atmosphere and great on the ball staff. Not cheap.
Great spot for a bagel. Swamped with tourists on the weekend. Order ahead or plan to wait. The staff is friendly and the set up is efficient.

It was okay! I'm filled up but it definitely is not the most marvelous food I have ever eaten in my life. I liked it and might try a different filling next time. I'm not from New York and have eaten much more delicious bread in Israel and Italy. So I am not sure how high the standard must be here as I have eaten delicious food everywhere, however it is a cute bagel place and I did Like it. My New York city bagel 😊
I will say the food here was really really delicious. Bagels amazing! But the service. Whew. They will call you to the counter when ready to take your order but you really can’t see anything so it’s difficult to tell. Cappuccino came cold. I mean really cold. The place was packed we waited maybe 20 minutes in line. Got our food right away but there was easily 10 or 15 people waiting on mobile orders before we even arrived that we’re still waiting. Many complaining they had been waiting 30 or 40 minutes and it seemed they don’t get them ready until you inquire. Nobody seemed to know what sugar was. I asked for sugar in my coffee but none was put in then had to request it but the girl behind the counter couldn’t seem to understand what I was asking for. Sugar, white sugar, cane sugar for my coffee? No, not Splenda. What kind? Sugar, regular sugar. ??! Then she had to go in the back for it I don’t understand.
Kind overrated. I got an everything bagel, could only taste the burnt seeds of the top and thank god I added extra turkey bacon or would’ve been just the burnt seeds flavoring my whole breakfast. I also got a plain one for my wife but not even the extra bacon and cheese could make it tasteful. I didn’t think to check while still in the store because it’s not a machine whom makes them so maybe they should’ve a bit of common sense on not serving this to a client!? ps. I didn’t not request for extra crispness, overdue or anything like that. Kind disappointed.
The bagels were good and what you expected of a NYC bagel. I'm giving 4 stars for the Bagel and service but 3 stars for cleanliness. It wasn't clean, lots of crumbs all over the place. The table was sticky. Overall, will probably just stop by for a take out next time.
Ordered a lox bagel with cream cheese and the lox itself was extremely salty. I was really craving lox, so I ordered another bagel with cream cheese with the lox mixed in which was better.
VAX card required before seating, or else you must take the food outside. I ordered a custom-made The Zucker’s Traditional bagel signature sandwich, made with Eastern Nova instead of Nova Scotia because the former is less salty, tomatoes, red onions, capers and just a tablespoon of cream cheese. Zucker’s does not sell mini bagels. So I ate only 1/4 of the bagel because I am on a low-carb diet. The bagel itself was a tad sweet in comparison to bagels that I order on Long Island. The salmon was fresh and low sodium—just the way that I like it. The condiments were good. The tables were dirty. See my photos. It took about 25 minutes for somebody to come and clean it up. Because of that, I am giving Zucker’s three stars.
Not a bad lox bagel, but not amazing either. I would rate this very mediocre, but convenient and usually has plenty of seating off to the side. Standard everything bagel with sub-standard cream cheese, salmon and capers. Purple onions were not included on my order, which was also disappointing.
I'll say this to start - if you're looking for a place to get a bagel and sit-down to plan your day, take a meeting, or just not have to eat while walking - Zucker's has a larger-than-normal seating area for NYC inside. It's clean, decent for people watching, and you can sort of hit reset while refuelling. Great bagel selection, and the schmear is tasty and consistent (I highly recommend the jalapeño honey cream cheese on a toasted everything bagel). I've heard people complain about the price of the 'schmear on the side', but if you're wanting to apply it yourself - the price isn't ridiculous as you're getting a great portion. Nothing too negative to say, but it does feel more corporate than Mom and Pop - but I have to give credit for the size of the dining-in area.
OK. Old person here. Manhattan resident in the '70's through '90's. Not that long ago. I found my recent experience just meh. Two bagels with salmon and a coffee were $40. OK, with a schmear would'a been $6 or so. Portion barely acceptable, overall quality OK, value fakakta. Young ones, this is the world YOU live in now. Don't like it? Stop spending.
I got the classic with scallion schmear and bacon on a sesame bagel. I’ll say everything inside the bagel is great! The eggs are thin and not overcooked, the bacon is thick and crispy and the schmear is perfect! But I came for the bagel and it was disappointing. It doesn’t taste fresh and doesn’t have that nice chewiness like a New York bagel should. I can get a better bagel from CTown or Key Foods (local grocery store).
I got a cinnamon raisin bagel with maple walnut cream cheese and it was decent. Their iced coffee with a splash of milk is not recommended. I could barely taste the coffee. I tried their egg and cheese on a sesame bagel. Both the egg and bagel seemed lacking in salt but it was ok. They have a breakfast combo that comes with coffee that seems like a good deal.
Used Uber Eats: $25 for a pastrami on rye and an egg salad sandwich on a Bialy. So, pricing is reasonable. The food was mediocre, but it was delivered quickly.
It was pretty average. Bagel was good. The service was good. It would be fine to get breakfast there every morning,

I'm really disappointed. I'm not sure if it was the staff in the back or what, but this place was a big letdown. A couple of people told me this place was amazing and it wasn't. The bagels were average, maybe even below average for NYC. The sandwiches were missing flavor. And the customer service is not there. One of the sandwiches I ordered was made wrong. I brought it back and politely explained the situation, and I got the meanest look. They made it on the wrong bagel, and when I got it back 10 minutes later, it was the old sandwiche on a new bagel. It was cold and and all messed up. Didn't bother eating it it seemed like they messed with it. Total waste of 70$
Zuckers bagels was just ok. $3.50 for cream cheese and $21 for salmon and white fish wasn't worth having a manager who likes to pick fights with his customers for no reason. Save yourself the troub…
Extremely disappointing service (forgot about order and other things), mediocre bagel at best—obviously had been sitting for a while and burnt. I said yes to toasted, but not black on the bottom with the taste of ashes. Not sure what's going on with the toppings on top of the bagel. Arrived when there was no line, put in my order, and walked to the side to wait. It should’ve been a warning sign that the cashier didn’t understand what I was trying to order, and it took multiple repeats plus a point at the menu to get them to put in the order. After this, I watched as multiple people who ordered after me, take out or dine in, got their orders. I watched the person passing out orders close out a bunch of them on the touchscreen, including some people who had ordered after me, and I realized they just forgot to give me my order. The store wasn’t even busy at this point, so it was super surprising. It had been almost twenty minutes at this point, so I went to ask the cashier again. The cashier and the lady managing orders had a look at the screen and clearly did not find my order, so the cashier went to the back of the kitchen. After a while he came forward with a box and put it on the table. He opened it, looked at it, showed the manager lady, and they had a whispered discussion about it, a sure sign something was wrong, and then she wrapped it up tight and gave it to me, as if I shouldn’t open it until I got home. Shouldn’t have expected anything better—I might be wrong, but aren’t the fillings supposed to be in the bagel? How am I supposed to eat this? The bagel was also burnt, and the eggs had obviously been sitting for a while.
I ordered 4 bagels, all toasted. The first one came out burnt, not what I wanted but I didn’t complain. The other 3 (with cream cheese) came 10–15 minutes later and were completely untoasted—not even slightly warm. When I went to the counter to mention it, they told me, “we toasted, you should have said ‘extra toasted.’” Terrible attitude and dismissive service. Won’t come back.
Ordered an everything bagel untoasted with cream cheese, and hard boiled eggs. Bagel was tiny, they toasted it anyway, cream cheese just melted and fell out, and all I could taste was the burnt garlic from the everything seasoning. Hard boiled egg was overcooked, yolk was green. Was told this place had the best bagels, seems over hyped and overpriced.
I'm a longtime Zucker's customer who will never again visit the restaurant. I ordered a egg sandwich for pickup a few weeks ago and it was uneatable. The avocado was completely black and it had a terrible odor. I spoke to the manager and he assured me that I would be refunded for the sandwich that I had to throw away but I never was.
This place constantly forgets items you order and gets your order wrong. They charge 3.50 for avocado and didn’t even give me avocado. When I told the manager he wasn’t apologetic and put 3 tiny slices of avocado on the sandwich. They really need to reevaluate this locations staff they aren’t representing Zuckers well at all
