Opinions de Fan Szechuan New York
Let me say this and say it clear. Out of all the times I’ve been out in NYC I always expect to pay $200 or more This restaurant surprise me by far from the food to the atmosphere to the ambience and as well as the staff. I recommend this place as go to for Couples families and also celebrations you won’t be disappointed. Put this on your next outing list.
Recently opened near Essex! They have quite a big menu with tons of classics and more interesting dishes. They serve large portions family style, and since it is Szechuan cuisine, the spice level can be quite high (just caution!). Everything was well seasoned and fresh, especially when it came to the spicy cauliflower or fish fillets. Also really liked the spicy cumin lamb chops, which were crispy and flavorful but still juicy. Overall great Chinese eatery!
This hidden gem in Chinatown NYC is a must-visit! Tucked away but unforgettable, this spot serves up some of the best Chinese food around. Refreshing Moscow Mule. The cold noodles with peanut sauce are rich and refreshing, the dim sum is fresh and perfectly crafted, and the shrimp and broccoli are bursting with flavor. Don’t miss the shrimp fried rice with beef—savory, satisfying, and loaded with goodness. The unexpected noodles Bolognese was a bold twist that totally paid off. Every bite impressed. With warm service and a cozy vibe, this place is pure magic. A true hidden treasure—five stars, no question! Service was impeccable!♡♡♡♡♡
We were craving Chinese food, so we went out to enjoy it 🍜 Found the most delicious Chinese food in New York ✨ Every dish was full of flavor and perfection From the first bite to the last, pure satisfaction Rich tastes and amazing aromas A true treat for Chinese food lovers Such a memorable food experience Definitely worth coming back again 😋🥢
Family of 3, we ordered pork soup dumplings 猪肉小笼包, mala stirred fried pot 麻辣香锅 (beef, fish, broccoli & string beans at regular spicy level), beef&tripe cold appitizer 夫妻肺片,Dandan noodles 担担面。Tasty food, authentic tsechuan flavor. Spacious dining area, good atmosphere, nice waitress and waiter. Price is fair. Somewhat difficult/confusing electronic ordering tablet, no option to adjust dandan noodles spicy level. Takeout menu has tripes牛百叶 for mala option, but not available for dine in on the tablet.
Absolutely outstanding experience at FAN Szechuan in NYC! Every dish we ordered was exceptional and beautifully prepared. The soup dumplings were delicate and bursting with flavor, the orange beef was perfectly crispy with just the right balance of sweetness and spice, and the General Tso’s chicken was hands-down one of the best I’ve had—savory, bold, and incredibly satisfying. The flounder was fresh and expertly cooked, and the green scallion rice tied everything together as the perfect comforting side. The Szechuan fried eggplant and the salt and pepper shrimp were spicy and delicious. Beyond the food, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, making the entire meal feel special from start to finish. FAN Szechuan delivers both incredible flavors and a great dining experience. For years, we loved the FAN restaurant on Long Island. Now that we moved, we're thrilled to discover this wonderful location. I can’t wait to return—and highly recommend it to anyone looking for top-notch Szechuan cuisine in NYC!
A great spot for some really authentic and delicious Szechuan food. It’s rare that every dish you try at a restaurant is solid, but this was honestly our experience, and we ordered 8 things. My favorite dishes were the Chili Oil Braised Fish and the Peking Duck. The fish filets were so tender and flavorful. Don’t let the color fool you, the dish was spicy but not too numbing, so still enjoyable to eat. The Peking Duck also blew me away. It’s hard to find a solid, authentic Peking Duck in Manhattan and this was really delicious paired with the thin pancake wrappers and hoisin sauce. I also really enjoyed the dishes we got and truly think you can’t go wrong with what you order. The Garlic Eggplant- saucy and delicious. The Cumin Lamb- packed with flavor, if you don’t like cilantro maybe don’t order this, but I loved it. The Crispy Sweet and Sour Shredded Beef- I’ve never had this dish before but was pleasantly surprised. A bit like orange chicken vibes, a bit citrusy, nice and crispy. For apps, we had few small plates. The scallion pancakes were a hit, savory and crispy with a nice light and umami dipping sauce. The Dan Dan Noodles were nice and chewy, and the sauce was quite numbing! I do think the noodles and the cold jelly dish could have used a bit more depth in flavor though, but still enjoyed them as they offered contrast to the rest of our meal. The restaurant itself feels like a nice Chinese restaurant with sleek interior. Service was really quick and friendly. Highly recommend!
I stopped by for lunch right after landing from Canada, and I’m so glad I did! They had spicy fried Szechuan-style chicken on the menu—the dish I’ve been searching for everywhere in Montreal—and it was absolutely worth it. The place is clean, nicely set up, and the food was amazing. 100% recommend!
Good restaurant with good quality of food and not pricey. Service is great. My husband and I enjoy the dinner here. Happy Chinese New year! 分量好足:)
Giving 4 stars because the food was really delicious, especially the Peking duck and the eggplant in garlic. However, service was literally non-existent. You order on a tablet and the food and drinks come out in seemingly random order. A bowl of soup came at the end, and the rude server didn’t permit us to cancel it, so we took it to go. OK, it was Christmas and they were super busy, but still. They are going overboard trying to capitalize on Phil Rosenthal’s visit, with the video running nonstop and a section of the menu “What Phil Ate.” Fan, your food is amazing, but please focus on basics like providing welcoming service.
This was close to our hotel, we stumbled in on a friday night and was seated right away. Service was good, the servers were prompt and friendly. Food came out fast. There were 4 of us and shared 5 meals. The peking duck was the best - perfectly crispy, with the delicate wrapper, veggies and sauce. The eggplant was also good. The Xiao Long Bao was ok, the wrapper was really thick so you're just chewing the wrapper most of the time. The pork belly was good but the fermented veggies uderneath was not for me, and I'm someone who likes fermented things. Overall, still solid. Food comes out to $35 per person.
I swung by here for dinner with friends on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. Service here was good, but not as attentive as I would have liked (I had to ask them repeatedly for things such as water or an extra plate). We ordered their dumplings, truffle XLB, beef pancake, ho fun, and cumin lamb. I thought both dumplings were good but the skin was too thick and the truffle in the truffle XLB wasn't very fragrant. I loved the beef roll/pancake, however. I was super flavorful and both savory and sweet, with lots of meat and sauce. The ho fun was alright. Although it was full of shrimp, the noodles were very soft and fell apart easily (it felt overcooked). The cumin lamb was also way too salty for my liking and required rice to enjoy it with. Overall, I think there are better Szechuan spots but they do have some good menu items.
The restaurant is close by the hotel we staying in NY, so we had few dinners here. There are good variety of dishes. The food generally decent and delicious, great for the Chinese appetite. Restaurant setting is nice, comfortable seats, friendly servers and the dishes are up to standard to Chinese. Recommend to try out.
The eggplant, walnut shrimp, and mala dry pot w/ fish were better than expected (fish was very tender!) after seeing the demographic, but overall just okay. Didn’t like the chongqing chicken - too many bones so really hard to eat Restaurant was mostly non-Asian people and not very crowded. Walked in for dinner w/ no wait. Staff was really nice *Note: They give you free egg rolls if you give them 5 stars on Google, so the rating is inflated
