Great Service, fresh delicious food. I got the sashimi lunch, and the King dragon roll.

Not a sushi connoisseur, but the BENTO BOXs are great. All of what I have ordered has been excellent. NO REGRETS

I have ordered from Isohama multiple times and it is always excellent. Can’t recommend enough, my favorite is the Twin Roll. The service is great and the food arrives in amazing form for a delivery. I need to go try it on site next time!

Ordered for delivery and after an hour, called the store and they learned it was delivered to the wrong place. They promptly remade my order and it was delivered in under 20 minutes with a free order of edamame. Delicious and great service thank you Isohama!

I had a wonderful experience at Isohama! The sushi was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented. The variety of nigiri and rolls in my order was perfect — everything tasted amazing, especially the salmon and tuna. The portions were generous, and the wasabi and ginger were fresh and flavorful. Service was friendly and quick too. I’ll definitely be coming back again. Highly recommend!

I recently dined at Isohama, and it was an experience worth sharing. The sushi itself was outstanding—fresh, beautifully presented, and thoughtfully prepared. Each roll highlighted the quality of the ingredients, with the fish practically melting in your mouth. The chef’s creativity shined through in signature rolls, which offered unique flavor combinations without overwhelming the natural taste of the fish. Service was another highlight light. Overall, it’s kind of place you’ll want to return to again and again, highly recommended.

I’ve been coming to Isohama for years, and it truly feels like one of those rare neighborhood gems you want to keep secret but can’t help recommending. Tucked away in a lovely part of the Upper East Side, it’s warm, welcoming, and refreshingly consistent. The sushi and sashimi are always fresh, with generous cuts and thoughtful presentation. I especially love their specialty rolls—the Manhattan Roll and King Dragon Roll are must-tries and their tempura is light and crisp without being greasy. On chilly days, a steaming bowl of their udon is pure comfort.

Very solid sushi at a very reasonable price. Good takeout option for nigiri

We ordered the volcano roll and the (NY roll not on the menu you have to ask) rolls were really delicious fresh fish. To drink i had the lychee martini house vodka wasn't the greatest but then asked for kettle one and it hit the spot. Ended with mochi icecream not bad first trying trying but not the last.hope this helps

Great spot for sushi. Indoor and outdoor dining options. The Kano salad was very good. Beef negamaki is a must try! Service was excellent and it was very well priced. Everything we ordered was delicious. Great place!

Good quality food at a nice neighbourhood joint. Came on a quiet Sunday about an hour before closing and there was one other table the whole time we were there. Service wasn't great perhaps after a long day but the food was good. Duck salad has heavier flavour from the duck and hoisin sauce paired with crisp leaves, chirashi fish was fresh though the rice was a bit hard and the udon noodle soup was warm and flavourful. Kitchen closed before we could try a dessert!

The sushi and rolls at this restaurant were fresh and delicious, but unfortunately, the service left much to be desired. The waiter didn’t know the difference between cold and hot sake, and when I asked for a recommendation for a plate with a variety of sushi and rolls, he simply suggested the first thing on the menu—all of which were fresh, but only fish-based. I was hoping for a mix of fresh sushi, rolls, and something warm, as he put it, "I don’t have to know everything." He said it about sake. While the food was good and the prices are reasonable, I’d rather go to another spot just three blocks away where the service is impeccable and the staff is knowledgeable. It's twice as expensive, but I’m someone who values quality.

I have been to this place so many times before. I always ordered udon with tempura. Today, I decided to try something different today so I ordered fried boneless chicken, Manhattan roll, and a shrimp tempura entree with miso soup. The soup was standard, and with some tofu cubes and seaweed in it. The Manhattan roll was very good. The tuna in it was very fresh. Fried boneless chicken was a little disappointing, it was too thin and the batter was falling apart. However, it was juicy so that was a close shave. The vegetables in the tempura set were delicious, but the shrimps were kind of boring. All the vegetables were all very tasty, there were zucchini, squash, beans, broccoli, eggplant, and sweet potatoes. Overall, I would say it’s a nice average restaurant in the neighborhood.

We went there just as it opened for the afternoon on a Saturday, so I don't know what it's like when it's full. But that has nothing to do with the food! I haven't had real Japanese food in a while. I don't eat sushi. I got and really liked the Beef Negimaki. I got a salad that was an option with it too. I finished that. The portion of the Negimaki was big enough that i took some home and had it for lunch the next day. I definitely want to go back to this restaurant!

I was searching for somewhere nearby to get dinner before class and I stumbled across this restaurant. At first, I was reluctant to go in, but I’m glad that I did. Their menu is large and amazing as it's full of a variety of things to choose from. I have never seen a menu this plentiful before. So I loved that aspect. The interior decor was okay, nothing too fancy but serene with very clean bathrooms. So that's a plus. The price of the food is very reasonable compared to other places in the area that I have visited before, also, considering it's on 3rd Avenue in the upper east side and the amount of food they give too it's just great. I'm giving it 4/5 stars because of the lack of flavor. I can't wait to go back again to try other things in their lunch special. The waitress was very kind, attentive and helpful. My total for this was 21$ & I was delighted. Don't get me wrong, the food still tasted good, not the most delicious I have had. Great restaurant and service— I highly recommend going there!

Good local sushi spot. I ordered the California rolls and avocado rolls and enjoyed it. Staff was friendly and very attentive. They also have a great happy hour from 5-7 pm. Will go back.

This sushi is decent but nothing remarkable, and the soup is just okay. The salad wasn’t great. They offer good prices for lunch deals and can satisfy a sushi craving, but the quality and flavor aren’t the best. You get what you pay for. The service is friendly, and they also serve hot tea with the meal. They have vegan options.

Had sushi lunch special... sushi was decent but nigiri pieces were on the small side. Came with small salad. $17 incl tax/tip.

Been coming here for years and prior to the latest ownership change, been pretty good and consistent. Lately, don’t know what is going with them. Bought a salmon bento and discovered upon biting into it, that it was a piece of charcoal. Burnt to hell. The fish was slathered in sauce so it wasn’t immediately apparent. It was unbelievable that they would let something that overcooked be sent out. Let the restaurant know as a heads up so they are more careful in the future. Didn’t want replacement or a credit but the manager acted like I was trying to scam a meal. The experience and the food left a proverbial and literal bad taste in my mouth.

The food was decent, probably one of the better options in the neighborhood. It was quiet during lunchtime with only two tables occupied, and the service was fast. The menu is large and easy to understand. My total was $31.57, and I left $35. The waitress came back to tell me that I’m required to leave at least 15% in tips and that I still owed her $3. I paid, and it ended up being a 20.4% tip. This was the first time in the U.S. that someone demanded more tips from me, so I’m giving 3 stars.

Food is pretty good but it is too often not ready until long after it was promised. This happens even on weeknight when the restaurant is almost empty. Frustrating to have to wait for 20 minutes or longer after the time the food was supposed to be ready.

Disappointing Decline at Isohama Under New Ownership I used to eat at Isohama at least twice a week—sometimes even more—when it was under its previous ownership. The quality, consistency, and overall experience made it one of my go-to spots. Unfortunately, that all changed when the restaurant came under new management. I gave them a try shortly after the transition, and the difference was immediate and disappointing. The gyoza I ordered was of noticeably poor quality—nothing like the flavorful, well-made version they used to serve. The entire experience was subpar, and I didn’t return for about eight months. Tonight, on my way home from work, I decided to give them one last shot. It was late, I was hungry, and I figured I’d stick to simple items that are usually hard to mess up. I ordered an asparagus salad, shrimp sushi, and avocado rolls. Sadly, things have not improved. The asparagus in the salad looked unwashed and was sloppily presented. The avocado rolls had barely any rice, and the avocado itself was overly thick and a bit under-ripe. To top it off, the wasabi was grainy—something I’ve never seen before. It even broke apart strangely when mixed with soy sauce. The meal was less than mediocre, but I ate it anyway out of hunger. Big mistake. About an hour later, I had intense stomach cramps and ended up running to the bathroom multiple times. It’s truly shocking that someone could inherit such a well-oiled machine—a thriving, quality-driven business—and run it into the ground so quickly. The food quality is now drastically different in the worst way. If you're looking for good sushi, do NOT eat at Isohama. It's no longer even halfway decent. So sad to see a great spot fall apart like this..
