Opinions de Kingston Hall New York
Love thé pool table and the atmosphere around it. I came on a night that they had a guest chef, I hear that it’s an every Wednesday event. And unlike my other spots, this place wasn’t busy. Thank you so much
This place is hidden as you have to walk up the stairs from 2nd ave. It used to be an old house converted into a bar. Really neat decor, like something you'd expect waiting in line at Adventureland in Disneyland and pretty big venue by EV standards. They have a good selection of beer and even offer cocktails for $12. And if you are in the mood for bar food they have empanadas, fries and battered and fried peppers.
I love kingston hall. The dark tropical interior, the weird mix of dead stuffed monkeys, sassy bartenders, stained glass windows, and the slammin jerk chicken wings. Also the happy hour is 2 for 1 on already cheap drinks, so it's easy to get drunk and stay happy.
The best vibes, and really good pool players during evening happy hour usually.
Our first time and celebrating my sister's Birthday. We all had a great time. We just l iui bed the happy hour til 8pm. You can't beat that at all. We will definitely come back Great service and people were also friendly.
Can we just talk about how gorgeous this place is? Everything from the lighting, to the little lookout in front, to the conveyer belt powered fans - just perfect. I could stare at this place for hours. But enough about the decor, the ambiance in this place is equally awesome. A laid back atmosphere and not too roudy of a crowd, plus some better than average bar food (there was a room in the back I didn’t explore - do they also serve dinner here?). For those interested, there is a pool table in the back, but don’t play on it unless you want to look like you’re in an old detective movie.
One of the best happy hours around. Daily from 4pm-8pm they have a BOGO on ALL draft beers and well drinks. Atmosphere is slightly edging towards dive bar with a pool table in the back and overall dimly lit.
Great after work place love it here
Still great after all these years. They took care of our reservation without a hitch. Unpretentious bar with Red Stripe, and delicious coconut / pineapple drink concoctions.
Kingston replaced an old Thai restaurant but stays behind is its old townhouse decor with giant wall-in glass liquor shelf and entertainment room area with pool table and dark light. Kingston feels like a speakeasy with creative cocktails and a great list of beer. Their appetizers are even more interesting. We tried the Jamaican Fries, which has a nice seasoning to it. Also, we got the small meat pie, which goes very well with beer. There is no crazy door policy nor pretentious dressed up dolls. What you would find is friends hanging at tables in dim light while sipping cocktails.
A cool place to go! Specially in the winter time, so cozy and they have a FIREPLACE!!!! Also a beautiful pool Table. Bartenders are super nice too.
Yeah, this spot has an old-time peeling decor that exudes warmth and comfort. It's a respite from the hordes of college kids downstairs. Pool tables is a draw, bartenders are friendly, and the music is worth listening to. Go check it out, even if for no other reason than to see the place.
Always a chill vibe here. Solid happy hour, buy one get one on many good drinks including Prosecco on tap 🥂
The happy hour special is awesome. The free pool table is perfect wish the lights above it were higher cause i hit my head on it one time.
Good atmosphere, friendly staff, music loud but you can still hear yourself talk. Cosy ambiance. Nice pineapple and coconut cocktails.
One of the absolute favourites in the city! Love the atmosphere here and the cocktails are amazing! The Baked Apple Old Fashioned is my favourite but would also recommend absolutely any other drink off their menu! Haven’t tried their food yet but that’s on my list!
Had such a special birthday here! When another bar canceled on us last-minute, Kingston Hall was extraordinarily accommodating and went above and beyond to set aside space for us and hunt down candles and a lighter for a birthday cake, without us even requesting it. The signature drinks, served in hollowed-out coconuts and pineapples, were huge hits: delicious, strong, and reasonably priced. The next day, we realized we accidentally double-tipped because we glanced over the receipt while paying and didn't see that gratuity is already included for a large party. Kingston Hall reconciled it immediately, without hesitation or protest. Cannot recommend this place enough for the quality of the drinks, food, and service.
Great staple in the East village. Love this place. Cozy, grungy, dark and inviting atmosphere. Not sure how they accomplished that but they did. All of the bartenders are wonderful. We accidentally hit the table and one of our full drinks in a pineapple fell over. He graciously replaced it for us. All of the drinks here are great. But especially get the extra fun ones sold in a coconut or pineapple.
I celebrated my birthday here last week. I had about 20 guests in the private back room, which you can reserve (without a deposit) for two hours. The service was excellent, even during Happy Hour which was pretty crowded (thanks Conor). All of the guests were able to start their own tabs which was extremely convenient, and drinks were delivered promptly after being ordered. After our two hours was up we had to vacate the room since there was another reservation (which I was told about earlier) and so we just moved into the adjacent rooms with banquet seating and pool table. Everything went super smooth and they were totally accommodating. Would def recommend for big groups.
Awesome! We had a small wedding in NYC and needed a cool spot to relax after the reception for some late night drinks and snacks. This place was amazing at letting me book a room for 25 people with no deposit and letting me preorder some late night pub food platters for my guests. The mini grilled cheese were especially amazing😀
All awesome, all the time. They even got tiki bar drinks in coconuts 🥥 and 🍍 pineapples, amongst other fruits. Really cool fireplace they even light in the wintertime and even a free pool table that you guys better not hog when I'm there! Outdoor patio as well! One of the best bars in all of NYC! Fyi, I want free drinks for this honest review when I'm there as commission, only because I meant it🤘🏻🤣 -Ruslan Poptsov #top10%ofreviewersongoogle
Awesome spot. Frequent here often. Great pool table, great drinks, unbeatable happy hour, always meet very cool people. Bartenders and bouncers always friendly and a good time. Shoutout to Christen, he's the man
If you want a dark place with great lighting and a pool table and a Great happy hour check this place on they do buy one the other one free on well drinks and beers The service over here is so friendly you won't regret it
One of the best happy hour deals in the area. The atmosphere is very cozy (on a weekday night) and they have some pretty good food options. Although I try to find places that have unique rotating beers, they stick with some of the more popular drafts along with a few unique options.
Coconut drink is pretty good. Bartenders are fast and efficient. Try this place if you're open to exploration and check out the upstairs part. Overall, it's a nice spot with solid music - louder on Sat but much quieter on Tues (maybe a weekend / weekday thing). Would stop by again.
I always like coming here. I usually get the coconut drink but tonight I tried the pineapple one. I don't remember the exact name but they are both bomb. It's also really fun, grungy decor. The music and the employees have the same vibe and everything about this place meshes. As an added bonus, you can play pool here. Enjoy!
My new favorite fireplace/super cool bar. The waitress was super nice and helpful to our big group and she remembered all the amazing drinks that we asked for! the music id great and the vibe plus decorations made it a great bar.
Dope spot. Went on a whim with a friend I ran into in the East Village and turned out to be a good time. He was celebrating his fire ds bday and they reserved the billiards section. The food was great too! Would definitely recommend if you're going to have a a large group outing.
Bob was a very attentive bartender. Drinks were great food was great. Overall fun atmosphere. Will definitely come back
This is my favorite bar in New York City because of the pool table and the down to earth bartenders. I've gone here to drink with friends and I've been here on dates. This environment works well with any setting and the drinks are unique. They serve drinks in coconuts and they serve red stripe. It's difficult to get this combination all in one bar.
Up the stairs and then you're there! Cannot say enough nice things about this place- great drinks, amazing space, fun location, solid staff. Spent a good part of the afternoon hanging around and enjoying the outstanding music selection. Not sure how packed it gets at night, but I bet it's still a great time. Run, don't walk!
Their happy hour is good, but my favorite things about Kingston Hall are 1. The food and 2. Their specialty drinks. Their jerk wings and Jamaican beef patties are amazing and they have a drink that is served in an actual pineapple and another in an actual coconut. They. Are. Amazing. You need to experience them!!
Upon arriving at the door of Kingston Hall, I thought we were going into a high school gym. Once we stepped into the restaurant/bar, it felt as though we had left Manhattan and embarked upon a trip to the Caribbean. The inside of Kingston Hall looks like a hotel in Kingston, Jamaica. There are trees and fans. The staff is extremely accommodating. There is a small menu. We ordered the jerk fries, which were very crispy with a hint of jerk seasoning, not spicy. The poppers were extremely spicy. Sausage and cheese wrapped in bacon. Very tasty. We had to order the Jamaican beef patties. They were mini patties with a tangy sauce. Not spicy at all. The spicy food went well with our beers, Red Stripe (Jamaican beer) and Purple Haze. We sat in the comfortable chairs talking for hours. It was a very pleasant evening. The prices are moderate. Fun place.
One of my fancy favorite bars of NYC. Lively ambience, candle light, solid coconut cocktails. The evening I was there was very pleasant. It was my best friends birthday. Exactly as I wanted it was. I love the vibe there- it’s unique and romantic. Crowd well dressed, staff is polite, original drinks- masterfully crafted by the mixologists behind the counter. Highly recommended.
Loved the different rooms they had in the back and the general vibe of the bar, and the drinks served in coconuts and pineapples were so cute and strong! I lost my glasses at the bar and the manager David was SO helpful getting them back to me. Will definitely be coming back and bringing more of my friends here :)
Had my birthday party here and it was amazing! Everyone working was super friendly, the food was delicious, and the drinks were really yummy. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a fun spot to celebrate or just hang out at!
The entrance looks like you're heading into an apartment building that accidentally left the door propped open, then a quick left and you walk into this cathedral like space! High ceilings, stained glass windows, wooden pews, whoops, I mean benches and tables adorn the area. The bar is stocked with solid drafts, and there is an extensive collection of all kinds of liquor. The best thing tho? A gorgeous red felt pool table in the back! This place is great!
This was a great place to host a large (80 people) happy hour! They do separate tabs at the bar and the space is big enough to accommodate a large crowd. Jay, the bartender, was helpful and fast. You have to email them to reserve the space. The only con is that it’s dark lit except for the back room. Will host more events here!
Nice place with good happy hour deals for drinks. If you email them they can reserve a private space for large parties (David was really helpful when coordinating). The food and drinks were ok and the service was great. Even if you always have to go and order at the bar (which can get busy) bartenders Connor and Jasmina were incredibly nice and kind considering how busy they were. Would definitely recommend!
Kingston Hall is the best! I just had my 25th birthday here -- I reached out to the email to ask if I could make a reservation for 25-30 people and they were super accommodating. The room reservation is free - and guests can buy drinks on their own tab. The drink prices were also very reasonable. I ended up having more guests RSVP and they moved me to a bigger area for 40. I was able to bring a cake and banner for decoration too. The room we were in was the "Salon" in the back, and the bartenders and staff were so friendly upon arrival. I ordered two platters as well and the food was delicious, the drinks were so good - GET THE DRUNKEN COCONUT! Highly recommend having any events here, the ambiance and environment is the best and I will definitely be back even if not to celebrate a birthday. Thank you David, you and your team are the best!
Very fun bar hidden at the top of stairs. I'd recommend for a large group of people, because they have a good amount of space and a pool table. They accept reservations for large parties, but you got to email. Check out their pineapple or coconut cocktails.
I hosted my birthday party here and couldn’t have asked for a better venue! The team was incredibly responsive and attentive, making the whole experience stress-free. Highly recommend this place for any event
My favorite place to play pool and drink in the city. The happy hour is unbeatable, the table is free and kept consistently in great condition, and the bartenders are all fantastic. You can rent the table area or a section in the back for private parties, the beer selection is varied enough to account for most people’s tastes, and their signature drunken coconut cocktail is delicious and iconic. And after you’ve had a few, the kitchen pumps out great food to keep you going. Truly a great place with so many fond memories tied to it.
I hosted a party in the pool table area + back room. The staff were phenomenal, the food was excellent, and ambiance was on point. I highly recommend this place for your next event or a fun night out.
Good drinks and good vibes. If you want to play pool for fun, don’t bother, there’s a pro who runs the table all night, hard to have casual fun. But otherwise great spot.
📍 Kingston Hall is a bustling and inviting bar at 149 2nd Avenue. This East Village spot features a lengthy bar and a glowing fireplace. It's a cherished destination for guests seeking to enjoy a broad range of beverages in a vibrant and lively atmosphere. Street parking is limited. ★★★★★
What a pleasant find. I will definitely be back. Bob and Jay were welcoming making my time there relaxed. Bob made my drink on point. The kitchen was closed so I didn't try the food, next time.
I can’t really speak to food because I don’t know if they had it or not. We were in it for the atmosphere and the drunken coconut. We also got the espresso martini which is good if you need a quick pick me up. Highly recommend this spot. They also have two monkeys doing it. Great spot before or after veselka.
Great happy hour option for both drinks and food. You get a buy one get one coin you can use during happy hour. The jerk wings and sliders were delicious. So much so we forgot to take pics 😅. Was not busy on the onset of happy hour but it did begin to fill up on the tail end.. this was a Thursday night. Highly recommend this spot over the other popular ones on the same block.
One of the best bars, went alone to grab some jamaican jerk wings and try the iconic cocktails. Food was amazing and so were my cocktails. Would definitely recommend Pineapple Express and Drunken Coconut. Shoutout to Jasmina the lovely bartender who was very attentive and took care of me that night. Gets super crowded after 8PM.
Came here on a whim before a theatre show. Kingston hall is a Caribbean/Jamaican themed bar with pool tables. The cocktail and food menu matches the theme - so get ready for some major island vibes. We ordered the signature drunken coconut, Pineapple Express, and barely illegal - delicious. Drinks are boozy so sip carefully.
Cozy bar with fun cocktail options including the drunken coconut rum based one I had which is their most popular. They’re open pretty late which makes them a great option, and while they ran out of the coconut shells to serve drinks in, the cocktail itself tasted perfect. There’s a pool table in the back which everyone enjoyed and overall ambiance inside is nice.
What a cool bar! Great vibe. The decor and the drink specials don't necessarily match but it adds to the eclectic nature of this cool bar: Victorian era ambiance served with tropical drinks. Pool table featured inside. Variety of seating options for small and large groups alike. Ordered the pineapple express which was tasty! Will definitely be back here with friends!
Great great place. Great specials. 2x1 happy hour. The room is amazing. I realize a lot of the bad reviews are for the bar downstairs 13th step. This place is great. You feel like in Jamaica like 100 years ago some type of James Bond theme. Very interesting. $6 2x1 you pay $3 bucks p beer that’s great for premium beer. Food is delicious and affordable. Cocktails around $13 and food around $12 per dish.
Crowded, but if your looking for energy and a vibe while you eat - it's ideal. Accommodates large groups as best they can. Appreciated the alcoholic ginger beer. Also stereotypical "island vibe tiki style" but hints of authenticity.
Great spot with a neat private room our group had booked. Overall the place gets a little crazy crowded, but the bartenders are helpful, and the prices reasonable. Beer selection is sub-par.
I am a native New Yorker and will keep to the directness of how we are known to be :) Food: Excellent. Caribbean inspired: Kingston, Jamaica. Must have the meat patties & the jalapeno poppers wrapped in bacon!!! Space: Caribbean inspired with Palm trees and all! Very sexy interior: a dimly lit, bi-level lounge complete with a pool table. Scene: Very sexy. Not the usual scene for the East Village, it’s more like Midtown. Suits and business casual types with a mix of locals and frat boy types. Pick-up scene. Great afterwork crowd! Crowd: 20s-30s. Service: Slow for unknown reasons. It's not that packed.
One of the bars that's in my regular rotation. First time I came here was when I was 21. I thought it was chill, but it didn't grow on me until three years later. KH is a great bar, the atmosphere is soothing, the wood decor is beautiful (beware of splinters) and the BOGO is certainly worth it. It's an amazing 10/10, M-Thurs. The Friday crowd is intense and meh. The clientel tends to lean older because 13th step is right below and weeds out the younger crowd. There's a upper level that's perfect in the summer. It gets stifling hot, but when there's a nice breeze you can sit there look down at the crowd and pretend things are going better than they actually are.
This bar is on the second floor, above The 13th Step. It has a pool table, a standing area that overlooks the street and some pretty good artisanal drinks. The bartenders are chill and the spot is cozy. Often, it's my first stop when I am bar hopping in the East Village.
If you are looking for a bar to feel like you are at a frat party, this is your place! Its usually very packed and loud. Beer pong tables in different areas. The back bar is your best bet for easily getting a drink.
This place seemed so hidden to me at first because its upstairs and the sign on the awning is just a picture with the initals. Inside the bar is very chill. There's a pool table in the back and a few booths if you just want to chill with your group. The atmoshpere and food is west indian inspired. So expect some very tasty jerk fries and beef patties to go along with your Red Stripe. Since I came to this place the first time and ate the food, I have been very excited to return again.
Pretty massive, nicely done space for an East Village bar. The back room is cozy for groups and the staff is great. Just try to avoid coming here on weekends, it's definitely amateur hour.
Saw this place online and thought it would be cool to pop in for a few drinks after my friend's birthday dinner. Not much reminds me of Jamaica unless you go to Annie Palmer Rose Hall Great House. The bartenders was super cool... I asked for extra cherries for the birthday girl and he obliged. When we were leaving he gave her a shot for her birthday. The drinks we had were great, since you could definitely taste the alcohol. Definitely want to return in the future since it's a nice chilled spot to get a drink or two.
I had planned on coming here and tried to reserve the pool table for a couple of hours ahead of time. That didn’t work out, which is totally okay. I came at 3:00pm and the list for the pool table was rather empty. I like the happy hour deals, it makes drinking there a little more boy math affordable (You drink more than you would there because it cost less than it normally would there even though it might be cheaper elsewhere). I really love how consistently well kept their pool table is. They have amazing drink options for cocktails, beers on tap and others. As well as good food, which is not served on Sundays jsyk. I’ve made that mistake twice now. On a Sunday they do say that you can bring outside food in if you’re hungry & that’s a plus.
I lead a new community group and we hosted our first official event at Kingston Hall. We reserved the back room and it was perfect for what we were looking for. The space was free to reserve, the happy hour deal is ideal (specialty drinks are delicious, but not included), and we were able to purchase some platters to feed the group. Staff was very friendly and accomodating while making reservations, a day we popped by to check out the space, and the day of the event. We were allowed to put up decorations, arrange the chairs and tables to fit our needs, and bring our own speakers and mics. It is also an ideal location being close to Union Square, so it was a good commute for most. Only inconvenience was that the kitchen staff needed to walk through the room, as the kitchen entrance is there, but we made it work. Highly recommend for a group event, or just to take advantage of the happy hour.
Cool bar with strong drinks and a fun energy. Seating can be pretty limited (there were 3 sections of the bar reserved for private parties which added to the scarcity), and anywhere you stand will be in a walking path. Really cute tropical drinks in pineapples and coconuts which is fun.
It has a pool table. I went for happy hour buy one get one until 8pm. I tried their "Jerk wings," and it was tasty but not jerk.
Went here for a friend's birthday. The drinks were tasty (one drink comes in a pineapple and another in a coconut) and average prices for NYC. But both bartenders were ruuuuude as hell. Maybe it was a busy night but the first bartender constantly rolled her eyes while I ordered the first round of drinks...Why? I have no clue! Her demeanor and attitude completely changed toward other customers so I thought that wasn't cool. Later, when I ordered a drink for my friend and looked back at him to ask if he wanted anything else, the second bartender angrily shouted WHO'S PAYING ME?! I'm short and Asian so maybe it's because I look young for my age or maybe they were having a rough day, but it definitely rubbed me the wrong way and I don't think I'd come back
Good enough, but way too crowded and dark. People are packed in like sardines which makes getting to the bar and ordering a drink a real challenge. Also the music is so obnoxiously loud you have to spend the whole night shouting to have a conversation. Won't be going back.
Unique drinks to order, but a bit pricey. Over crowded on weekends. a Vegan's nightmare for a menu as everything is Caribbean themed with Jerked this and beef patty that. Recommend paying cash over credit. College kids come in from time to time as over flow from the 13th Step bar downstairs from here.
They sell a drink in a coconut. Buy the drink in the coconut. Everything else is secondary. That said, this place was pretty packed on a Friday night. Beer selection isn't vast, but it's good. They carried Kona Longboard, so that's a plus. (I think it's really difficult for anyone to not like that beer.) I didn't get a chance to sample much food, but really, after a coconut or two, it didn't really matter.
Service was great! we had a room in the back for my friends birthday, the drinks are decently priced and definitely get the job done! Although it was busy the service providers were patient and kind! I wish the music was a bit more cultural as it is called Kingson Hall… otherwise the drinks distracted me .. i did hear other non poc compliment the music, so i guess it was good for that crowd, as a Caribbean person I wished it was a bit more true to the name.
I came here after hearing about their specialty cocktails. I was hoping happy hour (1/2 off drinks daily until 8pm) included the specialty cocktails but it only includes beer and well drinks. The place has an interesting ambiance by having old school island decor. We ordered the drunken coconuts and they were really strong. It was tasty but a bit too strong for me. I do appreciate that the drink was in a coconut and the pineapple/cherry garnish. It's a pretty pricey drink ($14) so I wish it was part of the happy hour special.
For a while I have been wanting to come here for the drunken coocnut. The drunken coconut was delicious and smooth. However, I felt the bartender was unfriendly and unwelcoming. Since customer service is part of the experience, I felt I didnt enjoy myself as I hoped too. The bar is more geared towards an older crowd, but I appreciated the caribbean twist to it and I liked how the bar was setup.
My favorite bar in New York when there isn’t a private party happening. However, when there is, they often close down the pool table for those people, no one else is allowed to go in that room. And the past 5 times I’ve come here, there’s been a private party every single time. So despite being a great bar, I can’t rate it 5 stars due to how frequently it’s ruined by these private parties.
The bartending staff here were great (Jasmine and Connor in particular), so this review is mostly a reflection of their management and events. After months of communication and planning, my event was messed up by David and whoever else leads management of this place. Communication is really poor and I'm not sure how they managed to confuse their bookings when I personally stopped by in-person TWICE in the weeks leading up to confirm. Swing by for a decent drink, but find another place if you've got a group or event.
The photos look nice but when we went here it looks like a large dive bar. Not tropical in any way but the drinks which some people had the one in a Coconut. The crowd was mostly post-college caucasian and music the same. My partner summed it up: "the decor and music could be a bit more Kingston-y". It was crowded so we didn't stay to try drinks or food.
The bartender did not honor the happy hour price deal even when directly asked if it was bogo hours and what type of drinks were bogo. We ordered highball cocktails, nothing fancy, two ingredients. It was watered down as well. Only good part was that the food is actually good and there is a pool table!
Bartender lost my credit card. I ordered my drinks and said to close the tab immediately, and when I told them I didn’t receive my card back after waiting a bit, they tried to blame it on me. No check book or receipt to sign, yet I still got charged (pretty sure they gave it to someone else). They asked for my name at least 4 times and later they rudely insisted I look around saying “you must’ve dropped it.” Like no- I never got anything handed back to me. Needless to say, all the bartenders looked drunk.
Super rude bartenders. They didn’t honor the happy hour deal and gave us some really bad gin and tonics.
Very disappointed!! I made a reservation two months ago to make sure everyone had a great experience. But getting there from the beginning was the complete opposite! My reservation was scheduled for 10pm and when we arrived there were still people at the place of the previous reservation. We talked to the people who work there, but they didn't help us at all. As it was a surprise birthday, guests started to arrive and we had to ask people to leave. The second and worst thing for me was where they put us. Literally a balcony, for 30 people!!!!!! We literally couldn't move! The reason I made the reservation two months ago was precisely to be able to enjoy the place with space and have fun. It was a super small place, you couldn't hear the music, everyone was hot, it was terrible! That was really disappointing.
The worst Manager I have ever talked to .The worst customer service ever. NO hospitality what so ever. I was going there pretty often with my friends , yesterday when I was drinking a beer and waiting for my friends to play pool with , one of the lady near the pool table told me its a private event and kindly asked me to leave which is completely acceptable behavior however when I asked the bartender he said I can play pool even though there is a private event , which I noticed it in past too but I was never asked to leave. After feeling humiliated I went back to pool table I told the event host ( the same lady) this is very unfair to ask someone to leave when all the guests are allowed to play on the table. Then a rude waitress asked me to get out of the bar , she told me that the bartender was not aware about it. Finally the "MANAGER " appeared and instead of apologizing for her staff's mistake, she told me its an event and I should not go there. She had a nerve to tell me " you are not a good customer" in my face when I was already mad and told me that I am causing problems and I should pay for the drink which I had hardly drunk. There was no sign saying its a private event / do not enter. She was more like I am right you are wrong , pay for the drink and get out. She had no sense of hospitality what so ever , one can clearly tell she lacks the experience to deal with such situations. She had no control over the bar what so ever , her staff doesn't no whats going on because she sucks at her job. There bartenders are always awesome though , I am not blaming the bartenders at all ,they are always polite.
Went there last night and got 4 Long Island ice tea for me and my boyfriend and although I never said open a tab I did last night and woke up to two different charges on my card one 38 and the other 57 dollars and all I had was 4 Long Island that didn’t get me or my boyfriend drunk. So do y’all selves a favor and don’t go here. If you open a tab they will steal from you. This never happened to me before so very disappointing and no one can tell me thst 4 ice teas cost 80 plus
Booked a bday party here - they triple booked me and acted like it wasn’t their problem that I had 45 people coming.
I am normally someone who does not write Google reviews, but my experience here was so horrendous that I feel extremely compelled to leave a review. This bar is simply awful, and you should not waste your time coming here. I booked an event here (3 months in advance) for a party expecting 40 people in their private space. This past Saturday night, they not only double-booked, but TRIPLE-BOOKED themselves (Google Calendar is free?). I wouldn't have left this review if the staff and management at Kingston handled the situation properly, but instead, they handled it extremely unprofessionally and poorly. They only honored one party in the private space (no clue how they decided they got the space, and there were probably at most 10 people in this party), and the multiple other parties who were screwed over for the night were packed so tightly at the bar that it was basically a fire hazard. Their bouncer played dumb, and their manager "was not in tonight." It was basically handled as a "too bad, sucks to suck" situation. Additionally, whoever plans their events does not answer emails because they are cowards. Conclusion: do not come here; go to the 100 other better bars in NYC that actually care about their patrons that make simple accommodations when they screw up. Mistakes happen; it is just all about how you rectify the situation. It isn't brain surgery to problem-solve when you screw up, but clearly this place lacks the skills and training to do so.
I wish I could give this place zero stars. DO NOT COME TO THIS BAR. I was hosting an event for 30 people which I booked over a month ago, confirmed with the venue the morning of, and they did not honor it. The venue double booked their private space so I was given a circle table that was crammed in the back. There was no reason given as to why one party got priority over the other. Later in the night, I found out that the private room was TRIPLE BOOKED for another party of 50 people. Not only is this a fire hazard because you have 80 people who expected to come for a reservation, its completely unprofessional and incompetent of the venue. I have been to plenty of bars in the city that are more than capable of looking at a calendar and knowing what they have booked for the night. I also sent an email about my experience and they did not answer. Beyond unprofessional and I would never recommend this bar to anyone I know, whether hosting an event or just going out in general.
I hardly ever write reviews and this is one of the first times where I actually feel compelled to write one because I feel it’s necessary. I genuinely want to give Kingston Hall five stars. My friends and I loved the vibe of this sexy, tucked-away bar. It’s very dark (keep this in mind), moody, with a beautiful interior and a great bartender. We ordered some shots and the infamous Drunken Coconut, which is served in a coconut. We thought the coconut was such a fun idea that we decided to keep it as a souvenir for laughs. Cut to us 45 minutes later that night, stopping for fro-yo in a well-lit shop. And that’s when we saw it… Remember how I mentioned how dark the bar is? Well, turns out it was so dark that we didn’t notice the MOLD SPORES covering the entire inside of the coconut (photo attached). It looked like a full-blown ecosystem was growing in there. We were completely shocked — honestly, horrified — realizing we’d just been drinking out of something that moldy. If we hadn’t kept the coconut, we would have never known. Which means plenty of other people probably don’t either. All that to say: it’s very unsafe to eat or drink from here until this is addressed. I’d love to believe this was just an unfortunate oversight (a massive one) because of how dimly lit it is, but it’s still unacceptable. I really hope Kingston Hall investigates this immediately — because no one should have to worry about getting sick from a cocktail.
