Opinions de Ko Sushi New York
This is the best sushi place in NYC! The fish is always fresh and the manager is the most friendly and generous human being you can ever meet. THEIR LUCH SPECIALS ARE GENEROUSLY SERVED, FOR $13 OR LESS WITH SOUP AND SALAD…TO TOP IT OFF, THEY OFFER YOU FREE HOT TEA AND ICE CREAM. I’M SO SAD IM MOVING. FAVORITE LUNCH PLACE FOR THE LAST 8 YEARS. Instagram @food_vivant #food_vivant
The service at Ko Sushi is phenomenal! Every one there is so welcoming, accommodating, and just pleasant to be around. They are fast, friendly, and so kind. The quality of the sushi is great-everything is so fresh. The complementary ice cream at the end is the sweetest touch. So glad to have Ko Sushi in the neighborhood.
This is my go to place for sushi in the UES. I love that the restaurant is beautiful and large with plenty of space for my stroller when we come with our toddler. The staff is always super helpful and provides excellent service and the good is top notch. The sushi and sashimi is delicious and fresh and they have excellent bento boxes. My favorite is the eel teriyaki bento. Their ice-cream is also EXCELLENT. The green tea is one of the best I've ever tasted and the red bean is pretty great also. They give you a scoop with each dinner which is always appreciated but I would order a separate serving for dessert. It's just THAT good. One scoop is rarely enough lol
Ko Sushi is one of my favorite go to on UES- why?? They have a great menu and so many choices for me, the vegan! I also eat minimal salt, oil and sugar/ and I find great options that are so delicious.
My favorite local sushi spot in the UES. Plenty of gluten free options and they are really careful about cross contamination both in the restaurant and when ordering delivery/take out. Highly recommend!
It’s a good size Japanese restaurant with a great selection of different dishes. They have a sushi bar as well as tables to sit at. The staff are very kind, knowledgeable and friendly who always have a nice welcome for patrons. The beef negimaki is particularly good, as is the shrimp tempura and sashimi platter. They also have a wonderful sake selection at very reasonable prices. Try the green tea ice cream for dessert! It’s the perfect way to finish a meal.
My favorite place for a casual and cost effective lunch. Their lunch bento box is a great bang for your buck. I go every time I’m in the area during lunch time. Love the complimentary ice cream
Hear me out. Order one of the Luncheon specials, thank me later. BESIDES the Bento, the dish includes miso soup AND ice cream. For less than 15 dollars that is an amazing deal.
Came here with a friend after classes. Wasn’t busy, food was quick and delicious. The waitress was kind and attentive. We ordered the Spicy Salmon, Eel, and Dragon rolls. All tasted amazing. Definitely recommend, will be back! We also got the tempura vanilla ice cream for dessert which was also delicious.
Complimentary ice cream a lovely touch! The diners next to us were particularly entertaining.
Ivy & Jimmy made my whole experience! Very kind, attentive & funny. Everyone there is great, the food is a 10/10, & the atmosphere is so tranquil- especially with the soft jazz playing in the background. Love it, will be back very soon :)
Super affordable lunch special. Probably the most affordable lunch in the area to sit and eat. It comes with soup salad and gyoza! They also gave me and my friend complimentary ice cream. Staff was super awesome and friendly as well. Would come back for sure.
Very pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is bigger than it looks outside, seating was private and comfortable. The service was outstanding. The food was excellent. We all enjoyed our meal. Also, very surprisingly, the prices were more than reasonable. I will be back soon
Ko Sushi on 2nd Ave is a hidden gem for Japanese cuisine lovers! Having visited multiple times, I can confidently say that this restaurant consistently delivers fresh, high-quality sushi with an inventive twist. The rolls are creative and beautifully presented, offering a delightful balance of flavors and textures. Whether you're a fan of classic sushi or looking for something unique, Ko Sushi has something to impress.
Great experience! Our server and everyone there was very kind and helpful. The music is nice and calming. I came with my sister to celebrate her birthday and they put a candle in our complimentary ice cream at the end! The food was also so good and fresh
The food is extremely fresh, and I was very impressed by the quality of the ingredients. The rice, vegetables, and seaweed all tasted clean and natural. I didn’t even dip my sushi in soy sauce — I ate it directly and could clearly taste the natural sweetness of the rice. That’s how fresh everything was. I ordered two lunch Maki Roll Specials, choosing the vegetarian options. The first set came with avocado and nori, and the second set came with asparagus and spinach. The lunch specials also came with a salad and soup, which made the meal even more satisfying. They have good vegan options on the menu, but they also offer fish and meat, so both vegans and non-vegans can find something they like. I also appreciated that they accept Apple Pay — I paid using Apple Pay without any problem.
I've been ordering from Ko Sushi for eight months now and each meal is prepared thoughtfully and incredibly filling. The miso soup is heavenly and the lunch portions are done beautifully. I'm a repeat customer and usually get the unagi-don (eel over rice). Lately I've been ordering the pork katsu don and it really hits the spot. Thank you!!
Wow. I’ve been to so many sushi places in upper east side and none could compare to this place! their customer service is great and they’re very friendly. the food is very fresh and portions and prices are very reasonable . highly recommend the tempura noodle bowl. Make sure to get their fresh hot green tea and green tea ice cream for dessert. tip nicely. i would definitely come back and if you love sushi this is your place!
Man this Toro was super fresh, melts away... The rolls were fantastic! I ordeded the the mvp which the whole roll is fried very delicious, my wife ordered the yummy yummy with fresh King crab on top made a difference. App was fried scallops.. Definitely will visit again a must!
I went to this place several times! I really like it here because the food taste fresh and amazing. My favorite is the shrimp tempura, and chicken tempura. I really love the deep fried oysters it is very good and taste so different, it was my first time having it. Definitely go to this place.
Food was delicious. I had the spicy salmon roll, and my companion had the spicy spider roll. We were both very happy with our meals. The waitstaff was very kind and helpful. They were very generous with water. Prices were reasonable. They even gave us green tea ice cream for free, which tasted so refreshing.
TAKE OUT ONLY. Ordered the unagi don lunch special for $13.90 (huge saving from their dinner price of $21). It came with 3 gyozas, salad, and soup! Such a good deal!! The eel was very generous in portion, super tender, sauce was not too sweet, and the rice was cooked perfectly. Can't wait to try their sushi next time!
Amazing lunch deals! Great food, great service, great atmosphere. They gave us some ice scream on the house at the end. I’ll be back!
The sushi is always great. However, this was my first time ordering salad and the salad was not chopped up. Finally it was big chunks as if they were giving me iceberg lettuce, peeled off.

BEST VALUE lunch special. For under $13 you get a lunch set that includes your choice of bento box that comes with soup, salad, dumplings and vegetables. Complimentary ice cream too. This place has been a no frills neighborhood staple for decades. Happy hour drinks and appetizers too.
Love this place! I have been here over a 100 times... And I can testify that the food is good, consistent, and reasonably priced. On top, they are all incredibly charm and warmth when they are treating and serving you. Always a pleasure go there.
The food was amazing here. I enjoyed everything I had. I had the iron chef roll and was pretty good. What made the iron chef roll amazing was it had ample amount of sauce which means not too much or not too little and had a good proportion. The staff were super friendly and very quick for service.
I needed a minute to recover from how good that was. The restaurant staff combined warmth with helpfulness and easy conversation. You should visit for their well-seasoned food. You'll notice the thoughtful environment. This restaurant offers reliable quality.
This place has been a family staple for many years in my family, great fast service, low-key and chill, high-quality sushi without the fanfare and without any pretension. Cozy, and their green tea ice cream is the best I’ve ever had, consistently, for years.

Great place for lunch. Nice bento box lunch specials. Good price. We each had chicken Katsu box. Big portions and delicious. Comes with hot tea and ice cream. We had green tea. Back again for lunch today. Again we had chicken cutlet bento box. Comes with salad, soup, dumplings and ice cream. We had one green tea and one red bean ice cream. This is delicious and such a good deal for the lunch Bx. Went back again on Saturday for lunch. Pretty busy place as usual. Today we had one chicken cutlet bento and one sushi roll bento. Delicious and such a good deal.
The unagi don was the perfect choice for a light lunch. Good portion, cooked well, flavorful, and inexpensive. Side of edamame with just a little sea salt. I left happy and full.
Good sushi spot. Friendly and helpful staff. Tried lunch special chicken teriyaki box. I have tried few other Japanese sushi places in the neighborhood and this one has a little bit different varieties of veggies. It was good to try.
The location was great. There was no wait when we went in. The people who worked there were nice and helpful. We were happy with our food. The price was reasonable in the city.

Wednesday Afternoon at 2pm. I was seated right away. The waiter/waitress who brought me in were very friendly and efficient when taking me to my table and placing my order. I ordered: Large Combination Box Special with Chicken Teriyaki and Fried Matcha Ice cream In total without tip: 30.15. With the amount of food provided I believe this was worth it but I have some suggestions/comments for my meal. The miso soup was great. It had a good amount of miso paste added to it which I loved. I personally think the bento box was just okay. The chicken was surprisingly nice and soft but wished it had more of a crispy coating. Towards the end of the meal it started to get soggy. The rice and salad were fine but the worst for me was the shumai. The wrapper it self was way too wet and mushy for me. The nigiri sampler/cali roll was better than the bento. I wouldn't say its the freshest cut of sashimi but it was a satisfying side to the meal. I finished with the fried matcha icecream. My personal recommendation would be to put the fried icecream in a bowl. I think it would make it easier to eat versus it sliding around on the plate while eatting. Another important detail I noticed was that it came automatically with chocolate drizzle. There was not mention when I wanted this when I ordered nor did I see anywhere on the menu that it would come with chocolate on top. I would say this is the biggest alert because I have a friend who is highly allergic to chocolate and this would have been a problem if she had this dessert. Overall, I did have a good experience at Ko Sushi. The wait staff was welcoming and attentive with a relaxing environment/vibe to the restaurant.

That was the worst Japanese and sushi I have ever had (and I have had LOTS of Japanese in NYC & LI) ….. I ordered take out and not only was it a fortune but the food came soggy, smelled like it was spoiled and the chicken teriyaki did not taste like teriyaki. I was disappointed as I pass this place on my walk home every day and from the outside it looked good. California rolls at the grocery store taste much much better. Please go somewhere else and spend your money. NYC is filled with better places at half the price. I have never written a google review (bad or good) but today I felt so compelled to.
Bones in my sushi rolls, which tasted stale and had rubbery texture. First time I’ve ever voluntarily not finished my sushi while still hungry
