Opinions de Luthun New York
Luthun was one of the more enjoyable dining experiences of our trip. The atmosphere felt lively and welcoming, which was a refreshing contrast to some of the more serious tasting-menu restaurants in the city. The service team struck a great balance—attentive but relaxed—and made the evening feel comfortable rather than overly formal. What stood out most was the chef’s creativity. The menu felt thoughtful and imaginative, with dishes that pushed interesting flavor combinations while still being enjoyable to eat. You can feel the personality in the cooking, which made the experience engaging from start to finish. Overall, it’s a place that feels both refined and approachable at the same time. If you’re looking for a tasting menu that is inventive without feeling stiff or overly traditional, Luthun delivers. I would absolutely return.
A truly exceptional experience. The diversity of cuisine is what sets this restaurant apart from other fine dining. Instead of creating French inspired dishes like most fine dining establishments, this restaurant finds perfection in distinct genres of food. The taco, tortellini, and pani puri were stand out dishes that would make me come here again. The beverage package elevates the experience with a wide variety of drinks (not just wine) carefully curated to complement the food. Would recommend this place to any foodie or fan of fine dining.
Outstanding food and service! Every tasting dish is absolutely delicious—you’re truly in for a treat. It’s the perfect spot for an intimate dinner on a special occasion.
Luthun is hands down one of the best dining experiences in NYC right now. The execution is flawless, and you can truly taste the chef’s vision in every bite - a journey around the world beautifully intertwined with flavors from his homeland. The staff is exceptionally attentive, ensuring every moment is special, and watching the kitchen team work with precision is a spectacle in itself. Each dish left a lasting impression, making the entire experience unforgettable. If you’re looking for a culinary adventure, Luthun is not to be missed.
Dinner at Luthun was a real treat. It feels like a cozy small restaurant where everyone is friendly, but the food is out of this world. From the first bite each mouthful packs a punch with innovative flavors and spices and dry ice. We sat at the counter with 8 others and each course was served for the group altogether. The wines paired nicely and it was a real enjoyable experience. Afterwards, Chef Nahid spoke with us a bit before we left.
The staff was very professional and accommodating. They were wonderful. You can tell they take pride in their craft. The first two dishes were sublime. The fushka and shiitake cappuccino. I hope they don’t change those. The rest of the dishes were delicious and the composition of the ingredients were creative! IMHO the basic flavoring got slightly redundant throughout the course with use of citrus or acid. Still good. The portion size is small so you won’t walk away from the ten course tasting menu full. I would 100% opt for milk bread supplement.
Hands down one of the best restaurant experiences I've ever been to. I worked in the UK as a chef for 8 years and last night was just incredible. From the setting, the food, the wine, the service, genuinely everything was class. How they don't have a star, let alone be on the guide is beyond me. Couldn't recommend it enough. Will be my first stop whenever I'm back in the city. All the team should be so proud. Great stuff!
One of my favorite restaurants in the city! I’m celebrating my birthday every year with the most AMAZING talented staff - run by chef Nahid and the amazing similar- Jahdea🩷 This evening and as usual, I celebrated my birthday and had the most amazing wine pairing- top notch!!! This is a MUST try restaurant and hopefully they will get their first Michelen star soon 🙏🏻
Went here for my birthday and experienced one of the best meals i have had in recent years. The dishes are well balanced and flavorful and the progression/pacing is well thought out. I also really enjoyed the wine pairing and got to try out some spirits I normally wouldn’t have (shout out to Jahdea the somm!)
Hands down one of the best meals I’ve ever had. We got a last minute reservation and were able to join at the counter. It truly provided a Birds Eye view to the creativity and passion of each individual behind and in front of the counter. The chef was kind and personable. Also, special mention to the Sommelier, Jahdea. As a non drinker, it can sometimes be boring when your entire group is drinking. He made the experience just as immersive / enjoyable with the non alcoholic selection. I learned a ton and can’t wait to come back!
Ambiance (5/5): The intimate chef’s bar table seating overlooks into the kitchen with 9 spots at the counter. There were a few floor tables unoccupied and some occupied. However, it is a must to eat at the counter to watch the chefs prepare right in front of you with meticulous fervor at the direction of the head chef. Service (5/5): I did no know that they start preparing when the whole reservation hour parties arrive!! I was 20 minutes late and as soon as I arrived, the chefs started whipping away. I felt terrible for delaying their service interrupting the guests’ time. They were very courteous nonetheless and treated all guests with personal care and attention throughout. Food (6/5): I haven’t had a meal this spectacular in a while both in taste and presentation. There are so many flavors, textures, and ingredients that melt into one dish. Chef Nahid Ahmed has done a superior job in curating an all around perfect meal. Some of the dishes have cuisine themes (Thai, Japanese, Portuguese). I can’t even give one critique is how great I thought it was. We added a supplemental $7 milk bread (1 piece to be shared with 2 people) to the last two courses. I think just the 1 piece would have sufficed because 1) we were stuffed and 2) there was not that much sauce that needed to be soaked in the bread. However, the bread is pretty darn good. My friend seemed to really enjoy her wine pairing! I’ve already shared the restaurant with accolades to friends/family and plan on coming back for a birthday to try another seasonal menu. Summer Menu 2025 Fushka | Japanese Grain | Sudashi Aguachile Thai Tartlet | Crispy Eggplant | Chayote | Papaya Fisherman Ragout | Octopus | Guan Curry Cod Cheeks | Potatoes | Apple Kosho | Morel Dashi* Fish & Chips | Brown Butter Béarnaise| Escovitch Monkfish | Popcorn Laksa | Foie Gras Emulsion French Onion | Kansas City Beef | Crispy Maitake | Black Truffle Demi Glace Chai | Passion Fruit | Mascapone & Vermouth
We had the most incredible meal of our lives at Luthun ! It really is a MUST, can't wait to go back. The food is practically indescribable, it's so unique and delicious. Every dish is artfully different, with new textures, flavors, preparations, and combinations. Every sauce/flavoring is so fresh, delicately layered, and thoughtfully composed. Even the temperature of each dish is specifically designed for maximum enjoyment. It is truly an explosion of taste sensations. But nothing is pretentious or formal, it’s just excellent offerings for everyone. And there was a lot of food. “Small Plates”?! Some were quite large. Chef Nahid is a generous genius, and his meals are quite the bargain, considering the quality and quantity. It's a little hard to see from the outside, but the dining room is very comfortable. I recommend sitting at the Chef’s Counter to see the magic. It’s such a laid-back environment to enjoy the best food--and drinks!-- ever. Don't miss the wine pairings!! They are very special, things you'd never know about. Well-worth more than the cost. It’s a special place, run by very special people. Treat yourself.
One of my favorite meals of the year. Watching Nahid and his team assemble each dish was a spectacle akin to a ballet. The staff and service were stellar with everyone very personable and engaging. With each course a trip around the world, I don’t think I’ve seen a restaurant pay such an enthusiastic tribute to different cuisines with such creativity. Every portion from the first to the desserts was a delicious flavor bomb. I’ll be back next season!
We had an incredible tasting menu dinner with wine pairing at Luthun. The food was the best we had in NYC. Chef Nahid and the entire team, especially sommelier Jahdea, were exceptional. We celebrated a birthday, and it was a truly unforgettable experience. Highly recommended—10/10.
Luthun is the greatest dining experience I’ve ever had! The chef’s counter is a must. We felt more like we were in someone’s home instead of a restaurant. More restaurants should follow their lead. Each dish told a story of Chef Nahid Ahmed’s life and culinary journey to where he is today. The wine pairings were spot on as well. So much effort was put into enhancing the balance of every course. Everything tasted absolutely amazing, and the best part was having a front row seat to witness the magic close up. The entire staff was so warm and welcoming. It was so nice talking with everyone and learning their stories as well. I can’t put into words just what an amazing dinner we had, but I highly recommend making a reservation asap! Such a unique, intimate, informative, and creative experience. I cannot wait to go back next time I’m in the city. Thank you so much to Chef Nahid and crew! Ya’ll made our night truly amazing! WE LOVE LUTHUN!!!
Luthun was the highlight of my trip to New York! The food and service went well beyond my group's high expectations. The chef and staff put together an amazing tasting menu, and beyond their talent I was so impressed with their kindness and humanity. My friend had a minor (and unrelated!) medical episode during the night, and the staff's quick response made sure she got home safe that night. Next time I'm in the city, I will be going back!
Luthun delivers a truly remarkable dining experience that feels both intimate and innovative. Their chef's counter tasting menu is a journey of flavors and craftsmanship, where every dish is an artful creation. The food showcases bold and noticeable flavors inspired by the chef's origins, weaving stories and traditions into every bite. The dishes are carefully prepared with a level of precision and attention to detail that reflects the chef's dedication to excellence. While the food leans slightly toward the spicy side, it’s a balanced heat that enhances the flavors rather than overwhelming them—a delightful aspect I personally enjoyed. The atmosphere is incredibly warm and inviting, striking the perfect balance between sophistication and down-to-earth charm. Dining at Luthun feels less like visiting a restaurant and more like being welcomed into the chef's private residence. The cozy ambiance, coupled with the genuine hospitality of the chef and their team, creates a unique sense of connection that elevates the experience beyond the ordinary. Service at Luthun is nothing short of outstanding. The staff is impeccably attentive, friendly, and professional, ensuring that every detail is taken care of seamlessly. From the thoughtful presentation of each dish to the way the team engages with guests, you can feel their passion for creating a memorable dining experience. Luthun is a culinary gem that offers not just a meal, but an unforgettable journey. It’s an ideal destination for food enthusiasts seeking creative dishes, impeccable service, and an atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. Highly recommended for an extraordinary night out!
My husband and I have dined at least 25 times in Luthun and we always go home happy and feeling it is the best restaurant in New York. The tasting menu changes often and we don’t fail to be surprised by the incredible creativity of chef Nahid Ahmed, every dish is delicious not only creative. Dinner at Luthun is a team endeavor and what a team it is: friendly and professional. Our dinner a few days ago was no exception. It was wonderful!
As out-of-town visitors, we stumbled upon a true gem in Luthun. This restaurant exceeded all expectations with a captivating tasting menu that showcased a global fusion of flavors. Each dish was an exquisite symphony of tastes, aromas and textures, leaving us utterly enchanted. The constant flow of creative courses made for an unforgettable culinary experience. The value offered was exceptional, making it one of the most rewarding tasting menus we've encountered. The staff was incredibly attentive and knowledgeable, providing insightful explanations for each delectable creation. The chef himself went above and beyond, personally thanking us for dining at Luthun and making us feel like valued guests. His warm personality and genuine appreciation were truly heartwarming. The restaurant's dedication to detail was evident in every aspect, from the meticulous changing of silverware between courses to their accommodating approach to dietary needs (they seamlessly handled my mother's gluten-free request). Luthun is a must-visit for anyone seeking a truly exceptional dining experience. Thank you, Luthun, for the gastronomic journey that tantalized our taste buds. You made our New York trip truly special. We'll always remember these delicious memories.
Was here with a couple of coworkers (one of them really really wanted to go 😂). The whole dinner was 8-9 course, took 3 hours (a little long in opinion 😄), featured several delicious courses, a few relatively interesting ones, and also one or two mediocre ones. The only two I can recall a week later were the wagyu beef, which was the best course of the evening, and the taco, which was mediocre, primarily for being too salty. None of us had wine, but the per-person before-tip bill was still $198 per person. Keeping the creativity and the beautiful presentation in mind, I felt this was slightly but not egregiously overpriced. Nevertheless, would I again shell out $198 for the this experience? Highly doubtful
