I had an amazing conversation with one the owners about how chipotle is not authentic Mexican food ‼️ ‼️GO HERE INSTEAD OF CHIPOLTE‼️ ‼️

My husband and I grab Puebla almost every Saturday morning, and are sad when we don’t. Our go-tos are the chilaquiles with scrambled eggs, tacos de raja con papa, picadillo burrito with spinach, and breakfast tacos. Recommend calling your order in ahead of time since it’s made to order (typically takes 15-20 minutes). We love this family-run stall in Essex Market ❤️
My favorite Mexican restaurant in the city. Was heartbroken when they had to leave their 1st Avenue location but thrilled to see they're still operating. Their burritos are on point and their daily specials (especially the beef stew) are always worth checking out. Mexican comfort food at its finest.
This place has really good tamales. I love their black bean burrito. It's also a vegan tamal but it tastes just like a real tamal. It's a small family owned buisness and they are so nice. I always buy about 10 tamales because they run out pretty fast. I also had the chile relleno and it was good too. I haven't had the chance to try the tacos yet. So far I liked what I tried.
First time ordering and everything is perfect. The burritos and the torta are perfect in portion size, and the mexican nachos are also amazing (wish the nachos were freshly made tho). Will order again!
Great chicken and steak tacos! I just ate there today with my mom, and it was the best Mexican food I've had in a long time. I'm going back there again later this week.

This place serves up delicious mexican comfort food. It has a small stand in Essex Street Market, but within there they do big things. Try the veggie tomale or the rajas-jalapeno quesadilla.

I got the peccadillo enchiladas on recommendation, and even went for the full experience of the hot sauce (I can’t say I wasn’t warned). Tasted good but have to be honest that my stomach was NOT thanking me for this meal in the hours that followed.
As I waited for my bag to be repaired a D'Alex tailors I went to Essex Market for some lunch. I chose Puebla Mexican food and got exactly what I wanted, black bean burrito with cheese and guacamole. My only critique is I would have like the guacamole to more texture, it seemed more like avocado puree; that said know that I will return because I basically got what my taste buds were desiring.

I was sure hoping this place was going to be at least above average, because the Mexican food in New York City is so hit and miss and for me this Asada taco was a miss, an airball from the free throw line. I would give it less than three stars but the ambiance the people were very friendly, and maybe I caught them on a bad day but this steak was dryer then a cracker with little to no flavor. The sauce is the only reason I was able to eat half of one taco the rest I'm sorry went into the trash. I was very skeptical when I saw them heating up my steak in a frying pan which told me that this was prepared well in advance.

steak tacos were super dry, hard to swallow. $11 for two small tacos is also outrageous. corn tortillas were good though, but other than that very mid and wouldn’t go again.
The tacos didn’t taste authentic, food was very bland. Even though it’s seems to be made fresh it tasted like an uncultured person attempted to make the cuisine it felt very Americanized. The chicken seemed to be boiled with minimal seasoning. With iceberg lettuce and a few tomato’s and cheese. I wouldn’t return again honestly it was just enough not to starve.
Literally just ate at this place 20 minutes ago. It was so bad I had to get on here. The burrito was decent, but very badly wrapped. Everything fell out of the bottom. I mean really, you go to a Mexican place and at least expect the burrito to be wrapped so you can eat it properly without a fork and knife. The worst part was my girlfriend's quesadilla. It wasn't cut at all. It was hardly cooked. The cheese wasn't even melted. The chicken was bland and dry. It was topped with ice burg lettuce and a tomato? I have no idea what that was about. It was quite literally the worst quesadilla I've ever tasted. How do you mess up something as simple as a quesadilla? Really? I'll never be going back. I'm surprised this place has such good reviews.

How can a place like this survive? Bad food bad service. I’ve never had a worse burrito in my life.
Ordered a Mexican salad with chicken and avocado as an add on, which is on their MENU! The worst mistake ever!!! I received a small very basic romaine, 6 pieces of small chop tomato, 4 pieces of green pepper and my add ons. Chicken was shredded and very very bland! (Looked like my dogs chicken) No flavor at all, i regret not taking a picture bc it was my first time ever buying something like this. Never ever buying anything from here! And they need to take that salad off their menu!
Honestly, this Mexican restaurant doesn’t do the cuisine justice. The tacos were among the saddest I’ve ever encountered, with boiled chicken that just didn’t taste right. The quesadillas were overly greasy, leaving much to be desired. To top it off, the lemonade was the worst I’ve ever tasted—far from refreshing. While the staff were friendly, the kitchen could really benefit from a chef who knows how to cook Mexican food with care and authenticity.
Hi, I hope the restaurant reads this review because….you need some help. First couple times I got a burrito it was great, now…skimpy portions, weak flavors. Rice beans and meat tasted not fresh at all…watching them microwave my children’s portion of steak was disheartening. Beyond all of this. There were five employees standing around, moving at a glacial pace for seemingly no reason. I wanted to jump the counter and make my own and my fellow customers orders.
The worst Mexican food to exist! I knew from when she gave me my order and the orders were missing things I should’ve returned the food. Simply by the looks it was disgusting. There is no flavor, the chicken is just boiled, not even the guacamole had anything in it. The nachos didn’t have the cheese melted, just Tostitos chips with boiled chicken, sour cream and Costco guacamole. Honestly Costco guacamole is actually more flavorful! What a waste of money and time! They had us wait for 15 mins just to give us premade food ? The rice is already cooked, beans and chicken so what took so long? This is an order of chicken nachos and a chicken burrito bowl. Run away, please.
Skimpy, bland tacos. The Cuban sandwich i asked for tasted more like a halal sandwich from a food cart. Asked for hot sauce and of course i didn't get any. Pretty mediocre. Dont waste your time or money. Taco bell beats this place!!!
I ordered nachos with chicken, a chicken taco, and a chicken quesadia. I called them complaining about the food regarding the chicken and the large bone (over an inch long), and all the cartilage left on the chicken, and all the dark meat. They said sorry it's only a little bone, the food was so bad I told them that I was only calling to explain that you do not serve people food like that and I will never eat there again. All they said was sorry bone not big. Worst food ever, when you taste the chicken in chicken.

This place borders between one and two stars, and since I'm not feeling particularly generous, I'll say one. For shame! Two things stood out. First of all, how is it possible to have a torta turn out to be both bland and spicy at the same time. Kind of remarkable, but in the bad way. The carne enchilada was super-spiced (and I like my spicy) but the rest of the torta was mushy and awful. The bread was stale, the beans were hard, the veggies soggy. Yuck. Then came the paying part. On the sign, it said tortas, six dollars. So I got out my wallet and gave the woman a five and a one. She then tells me that it's six-fifty. I say, but the sign says six. And she says tax. Really? That's price-gouging. Bait and switch. Just super lame, and enough to sour my taste on Puebla until they repent.
