Opinions de The Craftsman New York
Been going to this bar for a few years. Recently moved and it’s worth going back for. The best bartenders. Carlos and Nick are awesome and so creative. Carlos creates such delicious and well balanced cocktails that make his expertise and passion for the craft clear. They also have a good matcha.
Carlos is a mastermind when it comes To his cocktails! He greets you with a smile and then makes you the best drinks you can think of. He’s my favorite bartender and one who is as good with people as he is with drinks!
This is in my area. I walk past all the time and dicided one day to try it..Great food. Good vibes. Service can be more faster and friendlier
The bartenders here are world class. Ask nick to make u a tailor's daughte for the most refreshing and well balanced and refreshing cocktail I've had this year. if you catch the kitchen open, you won't regret it. The posts was great. Went another time and head the popcorn that was also great.
Great spot with great vibes. The cocktails were amazing and the servers were extremely nice and personable. Definitely will continue to comeback with family and friends!
I love this place! It’s my must stop every time I’m uptown. The drinks are so delicious and the hospitality is top.
Came in for drinks & apps! Everything was great, especially the drinks & the staff was wonderful! Will definitely be coming back
I stumbled upon the Craftsman at a time when I was very new to New York and hadn’t really gone to many places. And since that time, very few places equate to the quality you find in the cocktails there. From the mastermind himself who develops all of the special drinks to all of the fellow bartenders who make their mark with whichever experience you desire within a cup, I implore you to enjoy an evening with friends or a night on your own at The Craftsman. That’s where I’ll be.
Came here on early afternoon and let me tell you - loved every second of it! The food was yummy and the drinks to go - ha fabulous!!! My family and I all had the Acai Bowls. So delicious would order that again and again! And I had the avocado toast also so good! Would I come again absolutely and do I secretly not want to tell anyone I know and gate keep it I do but that’s not fair!
My favorite bar in the neighborhood!!! Their drinks are always made with fresh ingredients and the price is very good too. Love the staff, always very nice and fast making drinks. Three night a week they have live music, so you can just choose the kind of vibe you’re looking for (my favorite is the Brazilian Night on Tuesday). Also a great place to work/study during the day, lots of natural light, Wi-Fi, and some delicious food!
I frequent the Craftsman, an extremely wonderful and trendy cocktail bar, Irish pub, juice bar, and cafe that’s all one in the same at least 2-3 times a week on average. At 3pm on weekdays, it’s an excellent remote work location or a place just to relax in the afternoon with a cocktail, scotch, bourbon or beer. Between 3-5pm on M-F the Craftsman is quite peaceful, so you can hear yourself think. Then around 5:30pm the place becomes more lively. I’m never disappointed when I go. Everything is Awesome here! The staff is always very welcoming, courteous, and attentive. Their cocktails are top shelf and creative, their juice bar is innovative, and their coffee is bold and delicious. The Craftsman also has a decent wine and craft beer selection. They rotate their craft beer cans fairly often, their tap beer list is decent, and they have a delicious North Fork red wine on tap. Further, the place has a very good happy hour and their food is always wholesome, fresh, and satisfying. And they have a cool ambiance, especially at night when the candles come out and the lights go down. Lastly, they have jazz on Sunday nights, so the Craftsman makes for a great date night spot. What more can you ask for?
Excellent neighbour space and bar!! You can come sit here in the afternoon and work here with a coffee or go have a nice drink in the Evening. Both the coffee and alcohol is pretty nice and the staff too. They have happy hours too from 3-7pm. Quite busy on weekends but a good place to chill with friends. It's near Columbia University so at day time one can expect a lot of students working here. Do visit if you are in this part of town
It's the best neighborhood spot in Harlem!!! Forget about anything you know. The staff is simply composed by the most wonderful people in New York. Expect to know them by name and make a lot of friends. The crowd is the best: Columbia students and staff, artists, musicians, Broadway crowd, bartenders... You name it! With the new hours, I switched from team craft bar by night to team craft cafe by day. They have what I consider the best açai ball in Manhattan, so filling, soo so healthy, with their playlists and atmosphere it's the best place to get a day started, stay surrounded and get work done!
Trendy but unpretentious bar. Menu has something for everyone, including vegans. Crowd is diverse and friendly. A neighborhood bar with extra.
If you've ever seriously questioned how gentrified the island of Manhattan is, the fact that an edgy hipster cocktail bar like this is located above 125th Street should answer that for you. What a delight. My chum and I came in here to cleanse our palates after a pretty rough margarita experience a few doors down on the same block. We walked 20 feet, I saw this place, said, "I wish we'd gone in here instead," and my chum said, "We can." I realized she was right, and that was that. This is definitely my vibe. Sign me up for exposed brick, obligatory monochrome pictures and lots of wood. I just wish we'd had an appetite to sample more of the menu. We came in here right before a mini rainstorm around 2ish this past Saturday afternoon. Now that I'm thinking about it, literally every place we stopped in at on our trek up Broadway was empty, regardless of the time of day. Was everyone out of town? No idea. Anyway. I don't recall any other customers inside while we were there. Despite an atrocious Old Fashioned the prior weekend that made me dramatically declare I was done with bourbon, all of the hipster leather wore me down and I went with the Craftsman Campfire, conveniently served in a campfire mug. My chum side-eyed it a bit, concerned it was going to be served hot, but it was thankfully a cold beverage that provided a refreshing boost on a muggy summer day. My initial reaction was a little negative - the first few sips tasted like bland iced tea, and I'm not sure why. Maybe it wasn't blended entirely? I didn't really taste the referenced fall flavors (cinnamon, apple, etc.), but once I dropped the lemon garnish in and mixed it around, everything was solid. The service and price point were fine - we actually experienced the opposite of sticker shock when we discovered the cocktails here were around $15 (par for the course, even this far north in Manhattan) versus the $20 next door at the mediocre Mexican place. THIS is the establishment that probably could get away with charging more for the artisanal cocktail goodness. I thought it took a LITTLE long to get the drinks, given that no one else was on the premises, but we weren't in a rush. It also wasn't the kind of situation where we needed waitstaff to check in on us on a regular basis - very DIY here. I don't know how long it's going to take me to convince someone to hike up Manhattan again, but we're absolutely putting The Craftsman on the itinerary.
First time ordering delivery from The Craftsman, and overall it was a good experience despite everything arriving quite cold. I had the Caesar salad, which was fairly standard, the chicken was cold but still enjoyable overall. The Açaí bowl clearly had been refrigerated for a while (the almond butter was very firm, almost rock-hard) and the strawberries were a bit bland and tasted slightly off. That said, the granola was delicious and really carried the bowl, which ended up tasting quite good overall. Nothing outstanding, but definitely not bad. For a reasonably priced healthy option I’d order again.
The food is just awful. Cafeteria level. Not as described, unevenly cooked and cold in spots, and took 25 minutes to come out. The house pasta was macaroni with a hint of tomato and a ton of cheese. Inedible. The jazz band was nice, but I can't return due to the offense on my taste buds. The staff was nice, so they get an extra star for that.
This place has a serious identity crisis. From the street, The Craftsman advertises its juices and smoothie bowls—but then you walk in and have to order at a bar with a big selection of liquors/alcohol. The interior is rustic in decor with a mix of booths and high tops with Caribbean music playing in the back ground (none of which goes together). Tried ordering a panini as this is the majority of what The Craftsman serves (that and smoothie bowls) but they were out of all paninis except for one. Settled for cauliflower tacos and my partner ordered a wrap and matcha tea “latte”. Latte in quotes because it was basically powder with hot milk for $5 (see pic). Only person I saw working was the lady behind the bar and her service was substandard at best. Would’ve given this place one star but the food wasn’t actually that bad and so I’m giving it two stars. I should also note that not a single person was eating. Everyone was either reading a book or on their laptop. One laptop guy was even enjoying a Starbucks beverage. That should tell you something.
I ordered a BLT last night and the bacon was actually raw, which led me to be sick all night. It was my first time trying this place and it definitely will be my last.
Sunday is sad in comparison to Friday night. Bad bar service, they closed the bar while we were still drinking, never called for the 'last call' and closed our tab on our corporate card without acknowledging receipt. Furthermore, they were in a hurry to close at 2:29 am when the website states there open to 4am. The female bartender with red curly hair never remembers people's names on tabs. Totally gross. She is more interested in partying with customers than serving us - taking pictures, long jokes and all the time 4 customers waited more than 10 minutes for beers. Two or three bartenders behind a bar of 15 or 17 people. The service ought to be better than this. Hopefully, the owner can reach out to us regarding dissatisfied encounter because this venue has major potential with the right employee training. Not to mention, no female should be sprawled out in the back booth for 90 mins passed out _ *Initial review from a Friday now. The Craftsman is an eclectic pub. As soon as you step inside, you are immediately swallowed in a dimly lit place heavily dotted with incandescent bulbs. On the whole, mixologists are well informed with a trailer of intercollegiate frequenters. Their Old Fashioned will literally stun you as you fall in love with the built-in lighting behind the bar. This is near Columbia University and juxtaposed with a subway viaduct. It literally yells Sex in the City but in Harlem.
