Opinions de The Gyro Project New York
The food is absolutely incredible! I got the chicken bowl, which was generously portioned and had lots of flavor. I added crispy falafels, which were perfectly seasoned and had a crunch (a plus bc falafels can be a hit or miss). As a side, I went with the fries, which were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and are seasoned with oregano. I asked for harissa and tzatziki as my dipping sauces, and they complemented the meal so well! I don't know what's in the harissa but it is truly the best I ever had! Don’t forget the Greek frozen yogurt, it’s so yummy and refreshing. Aside from the delicious food, what stood out during my visit was the warm atmosphere and the friendly staff. Everyone was incredibly welcoming, including the owner, who took the time to greet us and share about his culinary upbringing and the cultural significance of the dishes on the menu. A smile and great interaction goes a long way!! I really like it here.
Love this place. I live nearby and sometimes I stop by just for the froyo — Greek frozen yogurt with olive oil and salt. Unreal. The food is delicious and affordable. Bowls you can make as healthy as you want. Super authentic Greek flavor. The gyros? So good. You can even go light and do it as a salad. All the dips — tzatziki, baba ganoush, everything — taste like Greece. Simple. Fresh. Consistently great.
I really enjoyed my meal here! Fairly affordable, a bowl is about $14ish and you can add on more for extra $. The chicken was well cooked and I loved that they were large chunks. Their baked goods looked amazing and they also have frozen Greek yogurt which looks like it would be great on a hot day! I will definitely be back.
Great food, amazing staff. Everyone was super friendly, my chicken gyro bowl was delicious. The menu is super customizable which I love. The frozen yogurt is AMAZING, best froyo I've ever had. Definitely will be back, highly recommend!!!!
I had an incredible time. I highly recommend the chicken Gereaux with Taki sauce. Wonderful staff and welcoming atmosphere. I could go into a food coma after eating at this delicious place great music playing and vibes were all around tubular.
My gyro was delicious and the portions were great. But the customer service was even better, David was amazing and very helpful. Also found out how fresh their ingredients are no seed oils is definitely a plus. A must try
WOW !!!! what an incredible experience! This place is absolutely outstanding in every possible way. The food is beyond amazing, full of flavor, fresh, and perfectly prepared. Every bite was excellent. The service is truly top-notch. The entire staff is friendly, welcoming, and professional, but Jaime deserves special recognition. He is exceptional , incredibly attentive, warm, and genuinely passionate about what he does. Jaime makes you feel valued from the moment you arrive, and his service alone is a reason to come back. What really sets this place apart is the feeling it gives you. It has a true home-like warmth that is rare to find. Thanks to Jaime and the whole team, this place doesn’t just serve great food , it creates unforgettable experiences. I can’t recommend this place enough. A must visit!
This place was SO yum and in such a great location! They are open late and still have everything up to the last minute because I came running in 10 min before close and they were so nice to me. Huge portions, everything was so fresh and flavorful. The staff were really kind and fun to be around while they made my food. Their tzatziki was the best I have ever had, so creamy and fresh. Everything I had was delicious. The rice and pesto potatoes together were heaven with the chicken. I can’t wait to go back and get more mouthwatering spring rolls and definitely try their dolmas because they were so delicious. They packaged my food Togo very nicely and the place was spotless. I appreciate you so much, Gyro Project! Keep up the great work! An Upper West Side gem, super safe location right by Central Park.
Hidden gem that joined the UWS neighborhood this year. Food is incredible and service is always on point! Affordable for great ingredients. I’ve been returning twice a month for a healthy and hearty meal after work - usually grabbing a falafel bowl and a frozen greek yogurt with cherries! YUM! If you come between 5-7 on a weekday, it’s going to be a popular time, but they will get you in and out quickly or you can sit and eat. Big shout out to David and Enrique on the line - who always serve with a smile and keep things moving along even while training new staff! I’ve never had bad service here but these two are familiar faces and always overly pleasant, so I had to ask their names! Small note: I wish the falafel didn’t get a little smaller in size but it definitely won’t stop me from frequenting. I also think name tags would be a great addition for returning customers because everyone’s always working hard and deserves recognition when they go above and beyond like I always feel from David and Enrique. I’d shout out more staff members but I’ve been too “New York” to ask their names. Awesome staff overall because they run a tight ship!
wow everything was sooooo good. the schnitzel was cooked fresh straight when you order, the gyro chicken was so juicy and tender and his whole platter was massive, and the froyo was so creamy and just the perfect consistency. look at that structure i mean…. The only thing that could have been better was the falafel being crunchier but overall 10/10!!!
The Dancing Queen Greek yogurt sundae at The Gyro Project might honestly be my favorite dessert in all of NYC 😍🍯 The balance of the tart yogurt, sweet figs, honey, and crunchy nuts is perfect. I haven’t found another spot in the city that does Greek yogurt this well, it’s truly one of a kind. The staff was also super warm and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. Can’t recommend this place enough! 🇬🇷✨
I’ve been to Gyro Project a few times now, and every visit has been excellent. The food is always fresh, tasty, and affordable. I ordered the Falafel Pita and Chicken this time — both were 10/10. Flavorful, perfectly cooked, and really satisfying. I’d even say this location tastes better than the NJ one (though both are great). The menu feels a little different in a good way, which makes it a fun choice every time. On top of that, the service here really stands out. The supervisor/manager was welcoming and attentive, and the whole team made the experience even better. Overall, Gyro Project is a consistent favorite — cheap, delicious, and always a great choice.
Pice of Greece in NYC. it’s not your typical meal, its Greek food, it’s very high quality ingredients and rich with flavors . Loved the concept and the menu. You can do a bowl or Pita. Everything is fresh is cooked right in front of u. Flavors are amazing 🤩.. we got’em fries 😆🍟as well. Portions are big I couldn’t finish up. Absolutely loved the theme of the restaurant and evil eye 🧿💙 themed coffee cups. Very unique very fun I definitely recommend
The Gyro Project knows how to make a first impression, and for me, it was all about the dip sampler. Generous, flavorful, and varied—though I found myself rationing the pita like it was a prized commodity. A bit more bread would’ve turned a great spread into a perfect one. The spicy feta stood out as the undisputed champion: creamy, bold, and with just enough kick to make you pause mid-conversation. To wash it down, I tried the Greek mountain tea with lemon and honey. Served cold brew, it was exactly the kind of refreshing drink you want when catching up with friends—bright, fragrant, and satisfyingly strong in flavor without being overwhelming. The space itself is inviting, with plenty of seating that never feels cramped. For our group of four, it struck just the right note: comfortable enough to settle in, polished enough to feel like more than just a quick stop. Thoughtful food, a pleasant atmosphere, and flavors that linger—definitely worth a revisit (next time, I’ll just ask for extra pita upfront).
If I were them, I’d spin their ice cream/frozen yogurt out into its own, cute shop. This would do great in the east village lol. The frozen yogurt is actually delightful. For $5.95, it’s huge and comes with a good glug of olive oil. It’s perfect for people who want a slightly nutritious dessert. It left me feeling light and good, despite being big and tasting indulgent. Literally my dream dessert. Great gluten free dessert. They have a clean washroom too!! Ugh, lovely. They also have lattes and hummus and bowls and wraps and everything too. The vibes inside kind of give “chain” energy.
Don’t call it fast food—Gyro Project is something way beyond that. The food is unbelievable—gyros that are bursting with flavor and very, very authentic Greek taste. They are so busy! And still on top Every bite feels like it was made with care and tradition. But what truly makes this place stand out is the people. Stavros Manager, then Chris is incredible. He treats everyone like family—always moving around, helping the team, and making sure every customer feels at home. And let’s not forget the staff behind the counter. The guys who serves the food behind the window is super friendly and polite, always serving with a smile. The girl Stephanie who works in the mornings is just as kind—warm, welcoming, and respectful attention
The Gyro Project surpassed all my expectations for a fast casual joint! I came on a busy Thursday evening, and every table was packed. The line moves quickly and offerings are constantly being rotated by staff. My friends and I opted for the bowls and we loved every bite! The assembly line is similar to other fast casual joints like Sweetgreen or Cava, but the flavors are incredible. I got the salmon and was impressed by how tender and well-seasoned it was. The falafel was also a highlight and I was really glad to see vegetarian options. The bowl base comes with rice or purple cabbage slaw and lettuce. Then you go on to pick a protein, two sauces and two side dishes. The spicy feta and babaghanoush were perfect and I loved the cucumber tomato salad and stewed gigante broad beans! The meal was great but the unique highlights were the deconstructed baklava served with frozen Greek yogurt. I would come back for that alone! It was out of this world! Also loved the bougatsa custard dessert with cinnamon and phyllo. This place is a gem in NYC and will definitely be a popular lunch and dinner spot. The staff was warm and friendly despite the many people pouring in the whole night and the ambiance was really nice too. I wish these were all over the city—Upper West Side is truly blessed to have this as an option.
Overall the food is good and the ingredients taste fresh, but they seem to nickle and dime on everything and it’s a bit on the pricey side, although I’ll admit the combinations you can make here are absolutely fire. I’ll def go back especially when I want something fast and healthy but also delicious and fresh. Definitely worth the try.
Delicious pita! The lamb and chicken giro are delicious. The froyo is amazing! We ordered the baklava one and it’s so good!! They add philo bits, honey, walnuts and it’s so crunchy and amazing. Perfect for a hot day. The people that are on the line taking the order are really nice and friendly. They have a few seats and the place is very nice. Would totally come back for another meal. Thanks for everything
I just came from Greece and was missing some of the food. While walking around I saw this place and finally stopped by last night. The staff were all welcoming. The food reminded me of some the places they had in Greece. While I only went for sweets, I will come back and try the food on the menu. It’s a small cafe and I’m glad there’s another option in this area for healthier food.
I was excited to try The Gyro Project, but the experience fell short. The food didn’t taste fresh and seemed prepared in advance rather than made to order. The overall meal felt overly commercialized, lacking the warmth and authenticity you’d expect from Greek eateries The biggest disappointment was the Greek lemon potatoes, they arrived cold, had little to no lemon flavor, and were bland in taste. It was a side dish I was looking forward to, but it missed the mark. Unfortunately, the meal didn’t meet expectations and the hype.
I've eaten at the Hudson yards in Fort Lee location many times. Today I ordered delivery and it came from the UWS location. Ordered a chicken souvlaki bowl and pita gyro. What I got was not chicken souvlaki. It tasted like Halal food from the cart on the corner. I know what chicken souvlaki tastes like as I am Greek. It was drowning in curry. Since when does chicken souvlaki get seasoned with curry? How does this happen? What is going on?
Tonight was my first and last time there. Who the hell puts fries inside a gyro. Not only that. They had the balls to actually say hand cut fries on the menu when any person with taste buds know they were frozen soggy fries. It’s simply done to look like the gyro is stuffed with meat. Deceiving!! The lamb beef combo tasted like cardboard and the edges of the meat were hard and didn’t taste fresh. Ordered a few extra tzatziki sauces and never got them but they sure didn’t forget to charge me $1 for each one on my bill. We ordered $120 worth of fake gyros. Do yourself a favor and don’t go here. It’s cheesy Greek chipotle style ordering. It’s overpriced and the food is bland. Any diner will give you a real gyro with fries and a Greek salad for $8 dollars more than this trash. Gyro king on 39th st is 100 times better if you don’t mind goin down there. Souvlaki on 56th and 7th isn’t great but much better than this fake gyro spot. Garbage!!!
