Opinions de Tokogawa New York
We had the chirachi salad and the sushi plate. The fish was super fresh and the taste was very good. The restaurant doesn’t have a lot of tables but quickly during lunch time it was full. I recommend this place if you come to the Metropolitan Museum and want to find a quick eat.
Service was quick and attentive, food was delicious. Great atmosphere in a cozy corner sushi restaurant. I had a sushi plate and the fatty tuna, all prepared well. The matcha cake was also excellent and uniquely presented. Would go back again next time in town.
This place was sooooo good! I am a big seafood lover and this place left me full. Staff were very friendly and made us feel welcomed. They were cute and even put a candle in the desert for my birthday
Came here for a quick lunch. Service was great! The menu is small but has everything you would need for a sushi restaurant! The edamame, miso soup, and spicy tune roll were amazing! The sake was super delicious too! I would definitely recommend coming here!
It’s great for sushi lovers and vegan lovers. Very fresh and delicious. I’m not a sushi fan at all. but, I was able to eat salmon avocado sushi. Had the premium wagyu sushi as well it was yummy. The quality was that fresh that I was able to eat it.
Went to this place by chance whilst walking around , food was exquisite and can say one of the best Japanese in NY city , I’m sure I saw the presenter of bizarre food in there at the bar , but than I can be mistaken

A very delicious and cozy place — everything was wonderful. If you’re wondering whether to go or not, go. The food is excellent, and the atmosphere is truly inviting.
Great fresh sushi! Very delicious rolls. Good value as well for the amount of fish they put. We love eating at their patio. Highly recommend!
Intimate small but very delicious restaurant. Very clean. Excellent menu.
Great place with fairly priced but delicious rolls, served with friendly service. Highly recommend.
They serve the best unagi I’ve ever had!! expensive, but I would say worth it ^^ also, the waitress recommended the sweet potato cheesecake and that was mind-blowingly tasty— if you go, and you have money to spend, you should try it!

We dined at Tokugawa Sushi last night and had a pretty good experience overall. The service was good, our server did an incredible job attending to us. We started with miso soup and seaweed salad, which were enjoyable. For our entrees, we ordered yellow scallion rolls and futomaki. While we finished everything, I felt that the food was just okay and I’ve had better sushi elsewhere. The value didn’t quite match the price, which is why I’m giving it 4 stars.
Whether you're a Japanese food enthusiast or simply looking to try something new, Tokugawa nyc is sure to impress with its mouthwatering dishes and friendly service.

This place is very small and so not much atmosphere. It’s relatively pricey and I have no problem with that except that it really wasn’t worth it. There was nothing wrong with the fish. It was okay. But the hand roll paper was awful. It was so chewy and hard to actually bite. Can’t say I would go back. Many other sushi places in the city.
It wasn’t what I expected to be honest. The one thing that we were looking forward to trying (their variety of crispy rices) was crossed off the menu in sharpie. The sushi was fresh, but not enough to match their Madison Avenue pricing. It’s a very cramped corner with outdoor heating lamps inside (?why?) and a very busy takeout counter annoyingly next to your table no matter where you sit.

Strongly encourage you not to order delivery from this restaurant. There was an issue with our order delivery and there was literally no way to call them because you just get a recording that hangs up on you and doesn’t give you the option to talk to a person. Sort of surprising when it’s $200 for two people for takeout Sushi.
On a cold night with only four other patrons in the restaurant, I expected far better service. And with a Madison Avenue and 79th Street location, I expected an exciting menu for the only Japanese restaurant this far east of Third. But no such luck. The sushi was okay, the sake was okay, the prices absurd, the location rent warrants it I suppose, but the service was attrocious. Had the chef not noticed my waves the waitress would never have come back to the table as she was too busy chatting with the chef and his sous. Pouring a sake so full that it spilled on the table, slamming down the soup, the sushi, there was no grace, no attentiveness, there clearly was no requirement on the part of this restaurant to host me again. Go further east for better everything in the sushi world!
1. Not welcoming.Like others, we experienced poor customer service. They had a difficulty in accomodating our party at an empty restaurant that remained empty through our dinner. 2. Deteriorating quality. We did not like several rolls we ordered and were surprised that even new soy sauce was of lower quality. Overall, not coming back.

The female hostess is pretentious, judgmental and just rude. My partner (Black) stopped in for sushi, which he loves. We had passed the place before and he was excited to go back. He was immediately met work a weird look from this "hostess " when he entered, and she asked something along the lines of "How can I help you?" It's a restaurant, girl. How do you THINK you can help??? So she seats him, then goes around the corner where she assumes she couldn't be heard and tells someone "I don't think he's going to order anything." And I truly wish he didn't. They didn't deserve his money nor time. Not when there are better sushi restaurants in this city with less microaggressive service. So lesson learned. Places like this (and people like this) are a stain.
The pricing was HORRENDOUS and the food was so basic Portions were microscopic and expensive as well. Unless your willing to spend $60 on maybe a roll and 5 pieces of sushi, then go ahead.
