We had dinner last night at Sazón y Fuego and it was a great experience! My wife and a couple of best friends ordered different dishes to share, we started with some drinks and some signature dishes such as “Ropa Vieja”, “Pork and Yuca”, and a “whole chicken Peruvian style”. Congrats to Randy and Gina for such nice place in Newburgh, it is a must place to go! Make a reservation and travel to LatinAmerica with Sazón y Fuego. Next time I will order a Brazilian steak “Picanha” and a cachaça cocktail to travel to South America. All personnel were kind and professional and at the end we met the chef before leaving the place! Love it!

Flavor and service were in a battle for my attention. Looking forward to going back. If I had to choose between the Al Pastor cocktail and the pork shoulder plate, I would keep trying both to try to decide. 🤩

Our server Abel was phenomenal! He was very sweet and attentive. The food is unique and amazing. This is a great addition to the Evansville food scene. I couldn’t recommend it enough. Get the beef empanadas as an appetizer!!!

Sazón y Fuego -- quite possibly a dining experience worth a Michelin star, right here in small-town Newburgh, Indiana. Some restaurants serve great food. Others serve an experience to be remembered for a lifetime. Sazón y Fuego does both—and does it beautifully, with love and intention. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance sets the tone. This isn’t just a dining room; it’s a thoughtfully curated artistic space, surrounded by handcrafted works from a local artist. The lighting, energy, and atmosphere feel intentionally designed—controlled in the best possible way—creating a warm, immersive environment that instantly elevates the entire experience. Manager/Host Spotlight – Evan Evan, the manager, was an absolutely phenomenal host. His personal culinary journey is as impressive as his hospitality—starting at the Culinary Institute of America, then sharpening his craft in standout restaurants across California and Colorado. He’s worked every position from front-of-house hospitality to Chef, and it shows. He’s brought that depth of experience, passion, and charm right back to the heart of Newburgh. His knowledge of the restaurant and their other concepts was fascinating, and everything he shared came from a place of genuine pride and love for what they’ve built. Service; Our server matched that energy perfectly—patient, knowledgeable, attentive, and wonderfully easygoing. It was the kind of seamless, thoughtful service you expect from true fine dining without any stiffness. Truly exemplary. Food – Three Incredible Courses We started with the Ceviche Peruano, and it immediately set the bar high. Deconstructed and vibrant, it featured white fish, bright citrus, toasted pine nuts, thinly sliced onion and what appeared to be hominy or pasole. The textures were exciting, the flavors refreshing, and the presentation both unique and elegant. The deconstructed nature allowed us to construct "the perfect bite" that suited all of our preferences, and was fun. Next came the chicharrones with guacamole and chirmol—salty, crispy, and impossibly satisfying. Dipping those crackling bites into the savory guacamole and tangy chirmol was pure indulgence. Then the arepas, made from house-made masa. The chicken and avocado were delicate and flavorful, but the real showstopper was the hibiscus and cheese arepa. We were convinced we were eating tender, savory shredded beef—only to discover it was hibiscus flower. As devoted meat-eaters, we were genuinely and delightfully fooled. Entrees: For mains, we enjoyed the fish tacos, ropa vieja, and Pasta El Pesto. Each dish was beautifully plated and bursting with fresh flavor. It was a refreshing and welcome change from the heavy, fried, or frozen fare so common elsewhere. This was real, intentional cooking. Desserts: Dessert was nothing short of magical. A dairy-free mango coconut gelato, silky smooth with bright tropical flavor, finished with a bourbon caramel drizzle and macaron crumbles—complex, light, and decadent all at once. And then the key lime ice cream, topped with fresh meringue and set in a pool of warm, rich, and decadent chocolate ganache. A bold, unforgettable finale. The entire evening was beautiful, delicious, and deeply memorable—from the art on the walls to the last spoonful of dessert. Sazón y Fuego isn’t just one of the best restaurants in Newburgh—it may very well be one of the best in the entire Evansville area. We absolutely can’t wait to return. Pro tip: If you enjoy a good drink. I highly recommend the Coconut Slush or the House Daisey. And if you try Sazon y Fuego and love it -- be sure to visit their other concept -- Pangea Kitchen.

Service was very slow. I went for brunch and only one item did not have chorizo, however the French toast I ordered was fabulous. The French toast coffee was a real treat. Water glasses were kept full. Other than the slowish service and no other meat options besides sausage, I enjoyed the experience. I would go again to try lunch or dinner offerings. UPDATE 12/03/25: Last night was a culinary home run! Sazón y Fuego was amazing! We shared Chicharrones (fried pork belly), Hibiscus and cheese Arepas and Ceviche for starters. It’s hard to describe the tremendous flavors of each of them, other than to say they were all very welcomed treats for our famished group. The Hibiscus a a cheese Arepas was certainly the WOW for myself. Tender, flavorful and unexpected in a delightful way. Main courses were fish tacos, Ropa Vieja and Peruvian Fettucini in Spinach and Basil sauce adorned with grilled shrimp. All were amazingly prepared. Very inspired. The appreciation for the dishes grew with each bite!! Dessert was a merengue topped scoop of ice cream floating on chocolate ganache that is out of this world, and a mango/coconut gelato topped with a homemade caramel rum sauce. Loved the flavor combination that kept me going back for just ‘one more bite’. The service was perfect, friendly and gracious. The thoughtful acoustics made conversation effortless and private. We enjoyed learning more about the backstory of the restaurant, Evan’s culinary and hospitality experiences and the history of the decor. Our evening was a total experience of food, culture and mutual appreciation for culinary excellence. There is no question, I will be returning.

Me and my wife had the Berkshire Pork, it was delicious. For starters we had the Braised Beef Empanadas De Yuca, very good. Then for desert we had Passion Fruit Mousse, amazing! It had a piece of actual gold leaf on top. Our server, "Autumn" took very good care of us.

My wife, our daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Sazon Fuego this evening. My steak and roasted vegetables were delicious. My wife and daughter carried on about how great their empanadas tasted. My wife said her ceviche de camerones was the best she had eaten as well. Our daughter, vegetarian, was impressed by the flavors in her Quinoa Salad. We will definitely be back. Friendly, courteous and knowledgeable team members as well as inviting atmosphere. Our server could not have been any better. It will be a nice date place for us! Thanks!!!

This is a relatively new restaurant on the west side of Newburgh. Located on Ruffian Lane, it was easy to get to with GPS. Located in a modern looking building, your experience begins in the parking lot. I noticed that there was an outdoor dining area. At the door, you step onto a custom mat with the restaurant logo. We arrived right at opening time, so there was no wait. I was super impressed with the interior decor. Very tastefully designed. We were seated at a booth/table in the bar area. Today, we just ordered water, but I noticed that their drinks looked pleasing. We ordered the braised beef empanadas as an appetizer and my mother ordered the weeknight prix fixe which also came with an appetizer (cachapas). Both appetizers were delicious! The empanadas were stellar and come highly recommended! With mom’s coursed meal, she chose the LOMO NEGRO which was slow cooked beef simmered in a molasses and vegetable reduction, served with creamy mashed potatoes. The flavor was good, but the meat was tough. At the recommendation of our waitress, I ordered the ARROZ CON MARISCOS - jasmine Rice, Shrimp Stock, Calamari, and Shrimp. This did not disappoint at all and was amazing. It even reheated well the next day. Mom’s dessert that came with her meal was BIENMASABE, a moist coconut custard cake. She thought it was delicious. I was not a fan only because I don’t care for custard or coconut. Overall, we both agreed that this would be a fantastic place to come and order appetizers but felt that the price of the meals did not match the quality or quantity of what was received. I was more impressed than my mother.

Exceptional service and top-notch food! We enjoyed empanadas, Peruvian ceviche, and New York steak. Everything was perfect—probably the best food I've had in Evansville.

We tried the new Saturday brunch and it was perfection! The Cachapa was sweet and cheesy with amazing salty pork belly bites to balance it all out. The potatoes were amazing. I loved my steak and eggs. A perfect new brunch addition that I will be frequenting and recommend that you do too!

Made reservations for our anniversary. They made it special by having a card signed by their staff and surprising us with a slice of cake with a little sparkler on top. That made it really memorable. The food and the service were also amazing. Highly recommend this place - we’re already looking forward to returning soon!

We came for dinner tonight for my birthday and were absolutely BLOWN AWAY by the cocktails, the food, and the service. The atmosphere was incredible, and the food was even better. I'd come back for the rice pudding crème brûlée alone. We'll be back many times over!!

I had dinner here tonight with my family and it was amazing! I ordered the picanha, and it was one of my best steaks I’ve ever had (in my opinion). Everyone in my family all commented on how much they liked the food, and the portion sizes were very filling. I don’t remember the name of our server, but she was really sweet and checked on us often. The menu had many tasty authentic items that you can’t find anywhere else. I would totally recommend, and I’d love to come back sometime! Overall, I’d definitely rate it a 5 out of 5.

This is an authentic higher-end Latin experience so be prepared for unique flavors, textures and combinations. We had a couple appetizers, chimichurri steak and whole chicken. Everything was tasty and made with fresh ingredients, some things we liked better than others, but even the stuff we didn’t like we could tell was prepared properly, just not our flavor profile. YEMV. The bar looked well stocked but we did not partake. No kids meal but the chicken was fine for kids and the potato halves that come with it are simple too. Overall it’s a fine experience, I’d say a bit on the pricey side for portion size with the exception of the chicken which was enormous. In my pictures the steak and the chicken were the same price. I’d recommend trying the place for sure though to see if it’s your gig or not.

This establishment really went above and beyond to set itself apart from the other restaurants in the Evansville/Newburgh area. The atmosphere is upscale, the food is phenomenal (quality control here was superb, everything we had from drinks to dessert was delicious and unique), the service was inviting and kind.. what set it apart though, was the attention to detail. There are few fine dining locations in Evansville where you can come in to a sweet card set at your table celebrating the reason for your visit, whether that be an anniversary, graduation, etc. I’ve had to venture out of town for such an experience in the past. So glad to have something like this so close to home. Well worth the ticket prices - we can’t wait to come back!

Excellent Latin cuisine, ambience, craft cocktails, and service… this restaurant is like no other. We loved the ceviche appetizer and the arepas. For dinner we tried the Pasta Y Pesto and Picanha steak and both were delicious. Can’t wait to go back very soon because I have to have another rice pudding crème brûlée with their press pot coffee for dessert. Sazon Y Fuego was amazing!

Decent service. Food was good, not great or amazing. Interesting that with the order of Shrimp Ceviche you get a nice large portion of the ceviche, and then 7 or 8 tiny pieces of tostada. Not sure what you're supposed to do with the remaining ceviche, except eat it up like soup. Never experienced that in a Latin restaurant. Typically you receive a healthy portion of the vessel used to eat the ceviche. The ceviche itself was delicious, 8 tiny tostada were off-putting. The chicken and avocado arepas didn't have much flavor. Reminded me of a bland chicken salad. Not sure if they were having an "off" night, but I've definitely had better Latin food. Also, it was very cold in the restaurant, which made the overall experience not very enjoyable.

We went the 1st week that they were open for my birthday. It was my wife, daughter, son and myself. There are definitely some things to work out. We had reservations for 7 and were seated as soon as we arrived. This is not a Hacienda type place. There are no good chips and salsa or bread which would've been nice since it took an hour for us to get our food. It was incredibly loud inside. I had the worst headache when we left. The sound bounced around the walls and floor and we couldn't have conversations at our table without repeating ourselves. The food was very pricey but delicious and unique. I got the whole chicken with potatoes and aji amarillo sauce. The chicken was very good and had a curry like flavor with crispy skin and the potatoes were the highlight of the dinner. The seasoning was top notch. My wife got the pork chop. It was good but the sauce was a little over powering. My son ordered the picanha steak. It tasted like a nice steak cooked over charcoal. Now on to the unfortunate part of the evening. My daughter ordered the Pasta al Pesto. It cost $40 and was supposed to come with scallops. Hers did not have the scallops. The waitress dropped off the food and disappeared for 10 minutes. When she came back we were half done with our food and we told her that my daughter's dish didn't have the scallops. The waitress apologized because she accidently hit the wrong button when putting in the order. After that we were told 3 times that her food was on the way but it wasn't. About 20 minutes later her pasta (with scallops this time) arrived. She said it was fantastic. Sadly everyone else at the table was done eating. They did offer us some chips then but it was 8 corn tortilla chips with nothing to dip them in. My daughter's time was ruined. She is a very picky eater and was very upset so she didn't want anyone else's food and just waited silently for hers. The waitress was wonderful. She comped the pesto and also gave my daughter a free piece of chocolate mole cake. I know that they will get better but it seems like the staff should've went through more training. The server should've made sure the order was correct when it came out. The front of house manager should've offered up something to "make it right" instead of me pulling the waitress aside and asking if there is "anything they can do" because of the experience. The owner was out and about and talking to all of the tables and thanked everyone for coming. I highly recommend the food, give them time to work out the kinks and get in more training and I think they'll be 5 stars. The area really needed a place like Sazon y Fuego and I wish them morning but success.

Restaurant has a nice atmosphere and friendly service. I came because I read all the reviews about how good the food was, unfortunately I was really disappointed. I ordered the half chicken and the taste of cinnamon overpowered the dish. There were no other flavors shining through. The chicken was served with some potatoes that had a good crispy texture to them but once again they were also very bland. On the plate were two different sauces in ramekins. I thought that must be where the flavor is, sadly nope. Neither had even a slight kick of heat or flavor. Not trying to be dramatic at all just my honest opinion.

This message is for the owner of Sazon y Fuego. The reason I am taking the time to write this comment is simply because I do not understand why a restaurant with such high-priced dishes changes its food so much. And here is an example. During the first six months after you opened to the public, I went to eat there and honestly was shocked by the flavor of the Peruvian food. We tried several dishes and none of them tasted like the food you find in Peru or even in other Peruvian restaurants in the U.S. Yes, I have been to Lima, so I can compare. When I complained, the response I received was that these were recipes from the Peruvian chef 🤯. After that, I didn’t want to return. However, I was later given a gift card, so I decided to go back. I tried other dishes, including the picanha, and the plate came exactly like the picture I am sharing, along with some other dishes, and I loved it! It was a bit expensive, but going there is a choice one makes. About a year later I returned again, and to my surprise, the picanha plate looked the same but now it no longer comes with any sides — only the meat. And it’s for the same price, Why that change? Especially when I can see that many people are complaining about almost the same thing. So are these complaints important to the owner or not?
