Very good restaurant. Modern and good frenetic vibe. We had small plates. All very good. House bread is tip top. We sat at bar. Great for people watching
Wonderful place, I went as a single diner as I’m on a business trip, just wanted to read and eat good food and this restaurant didn’t disappoint, atmosphere was brilliant for a Thursday evening, a lot of places tend to ignor you slightly as a single diner but this place did not at all. Lovely attentive polite staff and great food with a large selection of wine and champagne to pair with even on the open wine list. Service was quick even on a busy evening of large tables and staff are friendly and warm throughout the evening even though they were very busy, they never lacked in comfort. Had a starter main and dessert, with a white, red and a champagne, tartare that’s avocado whip stole the show, chops cooked pink to perfection and lemon sorbet matched with limoncello and Prosecco, what was crisp refreshing and one of the best I’ve had. all truly wonderful. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back when I’m back in town x
Honestly, top marks all round. Great service, never had to wait long to order, staff were super friendly and engaging without being intrusive, Charlie was super helpful when it came to choosing the wine. The food was awesome, especially the oysters and charcuterie, and the general atmosphere was very chill and pleasant. Couldn't recomend highly enough. Will deffinetly be back.
Best meal out I've had in ages. Lovely atmosphere and excellent service. Had oysters then the monkfish tail special and it was ridiculously nice. Even the sides were awesome - zucchini frittes especially. Great wine selection too. Can't wait to go again! (It was a boozey meal that's why it was 100+pp but food only was around £60pp)
Fantastic Quayside bistro inspired by French and Italian culture close to the law courts. Walked in on a busy Friday night with no reservation and we were treated like old friends. Very friendly and efficient service and delicious fresh food. Excellent menu choices paired with an extensive wine menu. We mentioned we were going to a concert at the Glasshouse and staff made sure we made it on time. Really great experience and will definitely be going back again. Many thanks to the St Vincent's team for such a good meal. Would recommend. Update: A return visit and everything was excellent. Great food, atmosphere and service. Would highly recommend a visit.
We love to pop in to St.Vincent and sit by the bar drinking some good wine. The staff are always super friendly and the focaccia is to die for! Last time we had a great chat with bar staff Alfred. We told him we love making cocktails at home and he shared his basil cocktail recipe. Believe me when I tell you we rushed home to try it and it was delicious. This place is always a winner for me in terms of staff friendliness and atmosphere.
I am so impressed with this place. Their use of local fresh ingredients is commendable. You will not find a better oyster than Lindisfarne fresh, served here with a delicious shallot dressing. I had 6 but could have devoured 12+ , simply delicious. The monkfish tail main was so good, cooked to perfection. The chocolate fondant desert was perfect. Someone here knows what they are doing. The wine list was superb and very reasonably priced, as was the whole meal. The service matched the food to make this an excellent dining experience. I cannot believe how reasonable the bill was. Delightful, professional and thoroughly enjoyable.
Visited this place for the first time during Restaurant Week and we didn't know what to expect. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! I got the minestrone and the pasta with spinach and ricotta cheese. Some would say that they are both plain but they were actually so flavourful! I can't praise the soup enough, I simply loved it! The Portugese wine we tried was also exceptional and was happy with the service as well. The ambiance was lovely and fitting for a wine bar. Not sure about the normal prices but what we got was certainly worth it. Highly recommended and can't wait to visit again!
Definitely one of the best restaurants in Newcastle. The wine list if particularly good, with a range from very affordable to super high end Bordeaux and Tuscan reds. The food is excellent, with a great charcuterie. The staff are really friendly and the manager went out of his way for us. Great vibe and feels like an important addition to the Newcastle restaurant scene.
Delicious well-made food combined with a warm atmosphere and lovely staff made for a great evening. We were seated at the bar on a busy Friday night but still had a comfortable time and could order from the full menu. The menu highlights included the Parmesan soufflé and the freshly made doughnuts with crème diplomat and rhubarb (from the specials board), which were hot and fluffy and a great way to finish the meal. Highly recommend the rhubarb paloma as an excellent cocktail alongside all the food. A satisfying way to spend an evening!
Great ambience here and the food is fantastic. A choice between small and large plates or sharing options. Everything is cooked to perfection and the front of house staff are friendly and knowledgeable. It’s lively but not too loud. We love it
Fantastic experience here. I went for the set pre-theatre meal. Was delicious and excellent value for money. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a meal out in Newcastle.
St Vincent has a great buzzy atmosphere and the food was fantastic. Everything was exceptionally well cooked and the Dexter sirloin was one of the best quality steaks I have had along with crispy roast potatoes. Service is really friendly and helpful. Highly recommend visiting this restaurant.
Booked for dinner on Friday. A last minute change of plan meant we had to ask if we could bring the time forward. Matt was very helpful and had us sorted and confirmed electronically within minutes. There’s a really good feeling about this place, good atmosphere, stylish without being pretentious and considering that it is busy, very good service, particularly from Anna, with a real smile. There’s a modern style menu allowing you to go for different combinations that suit your appetite. We wanted to go for all fish so scallops, baked crab, hake and monkfish. Now here is a chef who really knows what they are doing! The flavours! Wow! Good portions too. We finished with the chocolate fondant and limoncello sorbet. The wine list is cracking, some excellent choices and prices to suit all budgets. If this place isn’t on your list, it should be!
I visited St Vincent on Friday with 8 friends. When I phoned to tell them we were going to be late they told me my booking was for the following Friday. Within 10 minutes they had moved around some bookings and made space for us despite being busy. The service was faultless. The food choice varied with great choices even for a vegetarian . The 12 hour lamb was said to be "The best lamb I have ever had" by a diner who knows his onions. The wine list was extensive and not too expensive. St Vincent is not cheap but it is value because the whole experience was exceptional
Emma was extremely helpful, particularly when it came to deciding on wine. She gave our experience a personal touch, making us feel welcome and at home amongst what could have been an intimidating wine list. She knew her stuff and went out of her way to accommodate our varied tastes. The food was delicious and we’ll definitely be back again.
Outstanding. Keeps getting better and better. Brilliant food and excellent service. Wonderful restaurant.
Top place. Staff can’t do enough for you. Wine is fantastic and much better than equally priced wines elsewhere. A must visit in Newcastle.
Food was amazing, I will definitely be back and would recommend it to anyone. I would advise booking a table rather than trying to walk-in
One of the finest restaurants in Newcastle. This comes from a fussy foodie. Cannot fault it: food served freshly made, hot and menu is interesting and varies. Extensive black board menu too. The stuff is very knowledgeable on a deeper level compare to the most restaurants in town. Chic, night life vibes buzzing with laughter and good music.
Wow! What a beauty of a bacon and egg sandwich! Simple done sublime!! Amazing place with fantastic food, service and atmosphere to match!! Keep up the good work
Relaxed dining at the bar, having fun exploring the mix of small plates and mains: just as long as I get to finish with their phenomenal Basque cheesecake. Knowledgable and friendly staff guiding you through the menu and drinks list without pulling you toward the higher end of the offer. Unless you ask them to. Love it.
Best customer service I have experienced in a restaurant. Busy St Valentine’s but young team absolutely exceptional!
St Vincent has always been consistently outstanding, and yesterday was no exception! Fantastic food, great atmosphere and wonderful staff.
The food was really unique. Had the scallops which were huge and beautifully meaty and cooked in tasty butter. The guinea fowl was quite amazing. Tasty jus and large portion of the fowl. This type of cooking is unique to this kitchen. The fondant was also superb. The service team were great and efficient. The manager was very accommodating even though on a Saturday evening packed restaurant without booking he went out of his way to accommodate. Broad char next door had my booking but refused to take me earlier even though they had empty tables. It was fortuitous we had been recommended St Vincent’s as a better place and was next door.
This restaurant was great! Visited on a Wednesday evening and it was quite busy and buzzing. Top notch service and the food was very special indeed. We only ended up in there by accident and didn't have loads to eat but it was by no means a disappointment. Every meal was well presented and generous in portion size. The wine was also very pleasant and good quality. All in all I would highly recommend.
I really enjoyed my experience at St Vincent's. I dined with a good friend and we accidentally chose our menu items from the set menu as we arrived earlier than planned. We were not rushed to order or to be served, which allowed ample time to sample the Negronis, followed by a wonderful bottle of Spanish wine recommended by Evelyn, who happily tolerated us sampling all of her Chardonnays before choosing a wine, which was not a Chardonnay. The starter ceviche was light and tasty and we both had Hake for our main. What was particularly lovely was that the kitchen was really accommodating to my gluten-free and pescatarian requirements, and they even offered a dessert that was not on the set menu as a choice for me, which I was elated about as it is my favourite - Burnt Basque Cheesecake. The service was friendly and professional but as always with dining in Newcastle, served in a Geordie manner, regardless of the origins of the member of the team, the hospitality was personable, unpretentious and fun. Will I go back? Of course, I can't wait. I loved it.
Exceptional from start to finish. The welcome, the starter, the main and the staff. this is my first experience here, but let's hope it's not the last. i have looked for a place in the region with good oysters and these were superb and local.
Came here for my partners birthday, amazing experience ! Staff were very attentive and happy to explain in great detail about the wines they serve, as I don’t usually drink wine it was lovely to gain some knowledge and try quite a few ! The food was excellent and we were stuffed by the end ! Oyster each to start, a main and a dessert ! The cocktails were also fantastic and excellently done ! I’d booked this table under the occasion of birthday and no requirements and we were brought out a little dessert with a candle in to our surprise ! It was a wonderful experience, though not one we can afford often (we went off early evening menu which is great value !) we can’t wait for our next trip back, highly recommended especially if you love cocktails, wines and unique selection of food !
One of my favourite restaurants. Went the other night and had a few side plates. The taste of everything was incredible. My daughter had the best martini ever. Run very well by the manager who clearly takes a pride in his work.
Fantastic. Such a great experience. The food is outstanding, every dish was perfect. Brilliant cocktails and wines - thanks to the bartender who talked us through options. Super helpful. Special mention about Emma the supervisor who was a gem. Will be coming back for sure.
10/10 an absolutely wonderful evening. Our waitress was wonderful and the staff extremely attentive. The food was perfection. Would definitely return
Hostess was quite abrupt/ignorant, Ginny (we think) lady with glasses (the elder of the women working) was an absolute credit to the place though, we throughly enjoyed our night and conversations with her she was super helpful and knowledgeable and just a lovely lady!
service was phenomenal considering it was valentines & they were absolutely packed! everyone was so friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable particularly when it came to the wines. we loved the oysters & salt cod crudo in particular! but were slightly underwhelmed by the scallops & lobster, which they immediately rectified when brought up.
Great atmosphere & very good service. Restaurant week menu was okay, good value but not blown away. Seabass starter was tasty, Main Chicken with lentils cooked well, dessert Tiramisu okay. Would probably return at a later date. Parking nearby at Quayside Multi storey.
Visited early on a Saturday night. The placed was packed. Buzzing with a great atmosphere. It’s French Bistro style. The food, although very pricey, was top quality. Loved the Aricini, bread and ham terrain. The scallops were a bit rich for my liking, but the Basque cheesecake was the winner. The service was outstanding. Big shout out to Jasper. He was so friendly and helpful. A credit to your restaurant. Would go back, but maybe for a special occasion as it was north of £180 for two people. But that included cocktails and wine.
The wine menu is pretty good if you are after a bottle, but a bit dull if you are after a glass or two. So, the experience is really framed by the size of your party. The food is good. The staff are nice.
Nice vibe. Quite expensive. Food wasn’t worth the price. The black pudding and egg dish was not nice and was better suited for a greasy spoon.
High end bistro with a tangible sense of fun. Atmosphere is continental, sophisticated, and sexy; although slightly undermined by having to raise your voice to be heard across the table when the restaurant is full. Also, we were a Saturday night sitting with a busy show at the adjoining theatre, so service was a little slow but staff were friendly and helpful. The food is playful and creative without being 'quirky' or out there for the sake of it. Main courses were the star of the show with steak, lamb chops, and hake all going down a storm. But they were nearly upstaged by the Basquaise cheesecake for pudding which was sensational. A really excellent 'treat' meal out on the Quayside.
Staff friendly and helpful but tables cramped and lacking privacy. Not over impressed with food which was dripping in oil.
I’ve been to St. Vincent twice now and had a very underwhelming visit both times. The space is very cramped and very dark, which might be your vibe but I like to feel comfortable and see my food. I must say the focaccia is lovely, and the desserts are fine but that’s about all I can say. On my most recent trip I got the walnut tagliatelle which was impressively bland and stodgy. Maybe it was my fault for ordering the pasta but I was left feeling like I probably could have done a better job myself at home which is not what you want to think after spending a lot of money on dinner. My partner ordered the steak which comes with a small bowl of roast potatoes…and that’s it. You’d think for £48 they would maybe chuck a few glazed carrots or some other vegetable on the side. Apparently not. The service was great, I can’t fault that (I do feel bad for the staff carrying that massive blackboard of daily specials round the cramped seating all night) but for an almost £200 bill I want to be impressed by more than the staff. I think it’s all a little style over substance, but if moody dark wine bars with oysters are your thing then hopefully you’ll love it.
Tables are on top of each other - like cattle. Extremely cramped, never seen anything like it in terms of table covers. Struggled to have a conversation without others listening/talking. Food was soaked in oil dripping down the plates. Paid £50 for a bottle of white and it tasted awful. Barely any service and when we interacted with the staff, they were clueless about the specials. Restaurant was also pitch black inside on the night we visited - designed to probably avoid you seeing the oil soaked dishes. Starters were overcooked - we sent back. Wouldn’t waste your time going.
Booked online for a table got given a seat at the bar no mention of this in booking . Eventually after we said we would leave they give us a table that we could only have for an hour. The starter was awful and the main dish was not at all filling. I can’t believe the price of our meal £205 for two people so unbelievable expensive. Not worth the money. I would never of went to that restaurant if I knew it was going to cost that much. It was a present of my sons for Xmas and only had a £75 voucher .
