Opinions de The Dock Newport Beach
Absolutely wonderful experience. The decor was cozy and inviting. The service was beyond wonderful and accommodating. They went above and beyond. I called to see if they had scallops that evening and they didn’t not however made me some that were going to be a special for the following day. Food was delicious. The ahi poke and charred romaine Apps were superb. You have gained long time customers. We will be back over and over again.
I had dinner last year at The Dock and thoroughly enjoyed it. My husband and I were planning on going this evening, but was surprised when I saw some of the reviews. I was actually a little hesitant. I shouldn't have been. The service was phenomenal. We did have a server, but everyone who worked at the restaurant came by and took care of us. We never had to look up to request something; yet, we never felt as if the staff was hovering over us. My husband had the braised short ribs with risotto and the dish was flavourful and the meat tender. I had the lamb with ratatouille and quinoa and the flavours worked perfectly together. I would DEFINITELY go back.
A must for a wonderful culinary experience. Staff are very professional and friendly, making you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. Pre and main courses are very well thought out, cheers to the chef and staff! The wine offerings are top notch to pair with whatever your course may be. Great atmosphere with view of water; small but very comfortable, any larger and would lose its ambiance. Enjoy!
I have now been to the Dock twice. The food and service really are top notch. The waitress is extremely helpful with the menu and incredibly responsive to our needs. The food twice now has been excellent and of the 4 of us, no one had an entree that was less than delicious. The other quality that really makes the restaurant shine is the ambiance and openness of the restaurant. It sits right on the water and you can pull up to the restaurant's docks and proceed to eat. The place can easily support Duffy boats and boats up to 26 feet. I really enjoy the food, the location and the service and will be coming more often in the future for fantastic dining.
Perfect. I thought it couldn't get better after the appetizers...but it did-each course was more scrumptiousthan the last! The food was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere was upscale but not at all pretentious. And....the staff was warm, friendly, and so welcoming. Our first time there and definitely won't be the last!
The Dock is first class service, food and ambiance. My husband and I are thrilled to have heard of this excellent little restaurant. Food is rich, delicious, perfectly prepared and presented. Put this restaurant at the top of your list for that special occasion, including a romantic dinner. Thank you Erik and your team tonight for wonderful meal!
The Dock is a great little restaurant on Newport Harbor. Although my wife and I have never been here for dinner (it looks amazing), we have been a few times for there brunch. About the location: The location of the Dock is great as it's a small restaurant in the quiet part of town. You also get water views wherever you sit which is a plus for us. The doors and windows looking out to the water are open and the breeze comes right in. About the staff: We have never had a bad experience here with the staff members. Since the restaurant is small they are always very attentive and provide fast service. About the food: The food is what we love the most here about brunch. It's a two course meal that also comes with a delicious muffin. They have plenty of options and my favorite is usually the Gravlax for course one and the Benedict's for course two. They also offer mimosas, beer, and wine which is nice. If your looking for a quiet date place to visit, the Dock is a good choice for family and friends or special occasions.
Another great experience at the Dock. Kat and I sat at the same table last Friday night were we became engaged just a few months back. Besides the wonderful food, we come back because of the extraordinary service. And great wine pours!
Great food and service! I had the organic quinoa as a starter and the short ribs as my main course, both were delicious. I enjoyed my experience at The Dock, especially the ambiance, it is very romantic and has a beautiful scenery. I would highly recommend this place.
The Dock is literally on a dock overlooking an inter-coastal yacht channel - so yes, the views are quite good. The food is prepared with great care, plated beautifully, and served by people who truly care about your experience in the restaurant. Even the background music is curated to fit the laid-back but still elegant vibe of The Dock.
Amazing view, fabulous service and exceptional food. A big thank you to Pablo Quiroz, Tiffany and Erik for a wonderful dining experience. A romantic restaurant that is classy and so professional. Like dining in a top New York or Los Angeles restaurant...but much better.
Had a wonderful dinner last Sunday. Started with the sashimi and then had the prosciutto wrapped pork and ended the night with a delicious chocolate dessert. Also a great view and service!!! I do recommend making a reservation
First time at this restaurant and I must say it was amazing. I had the best scallops ever! The roasted peach & burrata salad was absolutely delicious. For a special meal, I can highly recommend the Dock in Newport Beach.
The Dock is an intimate setting, on the water. We had a later reservation and the transition to evening was seamless with lighting and weather. The best part was that the staff recommendations were spot on from rack of lamb to wine pairings and the bread pudding dessert. Signature drinks were delicious too!
My wife and I recently dined at The Dock and had an incredible experience. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The service was top-notch. The highlight was the view, which made our evening even more special. We highly recommend The Dock for anyone seeking great food, excellent service, and a beautiful view in Newport. We will definitely be back!
With thoughtfully chosen ingredients and delicious pairings, this restaurant captures the spirit of a faraway land, offering a calm, romantic space to savor the moment.
Overall great experience. This place is unique. Right away you get that feeling being invited to someone’s home. The thought out decorations and layout of the restaurant get this done. They also have a well trained staff that make you feel welcomed. The wine list is impressive and the menu is simple but executed very well. The view of the water and the boats are just a wonderful addition to the meal. We were there to celebrate a life milestone and were gifted a wonderful dessert with some delicious sparkling wine. Highly recommend this place as a treat.
Having read a lot of the previous reviews, good and bad I can confirm they were ‘all’ accurate. When we arrived for the 2nd seating of the evening there were people a little annoyed at having to leave. This is a ‘fine dining’ restaurant and, as such, you want to savor the experience. Service from Eric was impeccable. The wine list was extremely comprehensive and many great wines reasonably priced. The best moules marinière, accompanied by crispy pomme frites, I have had outside of France (a meal unto itself). Lamb perfectly prepared and presented (not to heavy). I would highly recommend The Dock, but unless you have somewhere to be, go for the 2nd seating.
Amazing night. Fantastic food- ahi starter with eggplant was best I’ve ever had. Halibut special was phenomenal and my wife’s scallops were excellent. Service was great- very attentive and nice people!
Celebrated my birthday at the Dock. First time visiting the restaurant and the highlight of my experience was the service, food, ambiance and Erik who exceeded my expectations. The staff are amazing, the food was delicious and the view spectacular! Well done 👌
The Dock in Newport Beach is the kind of place that quietly stuns you—from the floating dock and golden-hour views to the food, drinks, and warm hospitality that makes you want to linger just a little longer. We had the dreamiest sunset dinner, and Tiffany And made the whole night even better with her kind, attentive service and incredible recommendations. She even coordinated with the chef to customize my order exactly the way I wanted it—so rare to feel that genuinely cared for. And let’s talk cocktails. Asa, the mixologist, is a total artist behind the bar. Not only did he mix me a perfect Last Word with green Chartreuse, but he used Monkey 47 gin without me even asking. That’s the level of detail and pride this team brings. Food was just as impressive. The little gem salad with jalapeño was fresh and punchy. I ordered the Ora King salmon well done (still perfectly moist), and the halibut with lemon sauce on the side was light and buttery. But the real surprise? The bread pudding. I don’t even like bread pudding… and I devoured it. Warm, golden edges, melty center, topped with ice cream—it’s a must. Between the views, the vibe, and a team that truly cares—The Dock is now one of my favorite spots in Newport. Already planning my return.
Every detail of our dinner was 10/10. The staff was extremely attentive to filling our drinks, bussing our table and just making our experience memorable. We had an amazing peach burrata and pesto salad and then scallops over risotto for the main course. Exceptional food and really enjoyed the outdoor patio on the bay. Can’t wait to go back for another date night!
The Spanish Crispy Octopus was the BEST octopus I've ever had! The sauce with the octopus was so delicious and flavorful! We stumbled upon The Dock while visiting Newport and the restaurant is such a gem. The service was amazing, everyone was so friendly & kind. Our server Frankie was great, along with the rest of the team. I will be visiting Newport again just to come back to the dock! I can not wait to try the Duck, Fish Of The Day, & Lamb! Thank You!
My wife and I have had the dock on our list of restaurants we wanted to visit for years and we finally made it in this weekend and it was better than we imagined. Venue - from the outside it’s super low key but once you’re in you see a beautiful entry into a large yet intimate sitting area with beautiful views of the bay. We sat in the left corner in a very comfortable spot and although I did want to sit closer to the water with a view within 10 min fell in love with our spot. Super cozy and private and not too chilly as the night progressed. Service - multiple staff made sure we had a great experience. Our waiter, Eric and his partner, Aldo were awesome. Both very attentive and passionate about what they did and how they wanted to help. Full of life, big smiles, and on top of it. Eric had the food memorized inside and out and described everything with such enthusiasm that we wanted to order everything. Aldo was the perfect add on to ensure our dining experience was flawless with new silverware, plates, and additional advice. Food - 10/10 so bomb. Everything we ate was incredible. We had the gem salad, Maryland crab beignet, I got the off menu halibut with risotto and my wife got the king salmon that was literally melt in your mouth fatty salmony goodness….lets just say we left very satisfied. Hats off to the chef! We washed it all down with a nice glass of Pinot and a classic dirty martini! (PS, Eric owes me a blue cheese olive 😂😉) All in all we will be back. No doubt! I loved how low key and easy it was, parking was simple and we had a great time. Fair prices compared to quality. Top notch. Thank you to all who took care of us!
The food is amazing! The first time we came here all three of us ordered Scallops with Risotto and Brussels Sprouts. The dish was delicious. Last night was our second time eating at The Dock: my friend had Scallops and loved them. My husband had steak, which was tender and perfectly seared with wonderful potatoes. I had the most delicious beet salad and halibut. As I am a very good cook, when I eat out I most often feel like I should have stayed home and cooked. Not at The Dock! They create magic in that kitchen!!!!
Great food, service and ambiance! We went yesterday for a birthday brunch and they were so nice about us running a little late. The drinks were delicious and the food was on point. Our service was awesome! I highly recommended this spot! The parking was not bad either.
Exceeded all expectations!! A wonderful view, amazing food, and great service with wonderful staff.
The dock has incredible food, service, and ambiance. Erik provided wonderful service and perfect wine pairings, and we loved every dish we tried. This was our favorite restaurant in Newport by far.
Lamb chops! The pork belly! Bread pudding dessert! Scallops were great. Hamachi sashimi was great. Halibut was decent. Pear salad was good. Loved the coziness and the open air seating.
Lovely place to eat dinner the view is nice and it's small and quaint. The service was fantastic.
One of the high end places in the area with an amazing view, awesome food and excellent service. Everything on the menu is 5 stars and the whole experience is perfect.
We actually spotted this place paddle boarding in the harbor. After giving it a try we were blown away at the feeling you get walking in. It feels very comfortable and cozy with exceptional staff. Everything we had tasted delicious and we'll be sure to go back.

From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the cozy yet elegant ambiance of the restaurant. The lighting, décor, and overall atmosphere struck the perfect balance between upscale and inviting, immediately setting the tone for what would become a truly memorable evening. As this was our first visit, we decided to try a variety of dishes to get a full sense of the menu—and we’re so glad we did. Every single item we ordered, from the soup and appetizers to the main courses, was exceptional. The flavors were incredibly well balanced—rich and layered without being overpowering—and every dish was thoughtfully seasoned. The lamb, in particular, stood out: unbelievably tender and cooked to perfection, it practically melted in our mouths. Presentation was another highlight. Each plate arrived looking like a work of art, clearly prepared with care and attention to detail. It’s rare to find a place where both the flavors and aesthetics of the food are so well aligned. What truly elevated the entire experience, though, was the service—especially from Tiffany. Her warmth, attentiveness, and genuine hospitality made us feel right at home. She anticipated our needs before we could even voice them, offered insightful recommendations, and somehow managed to be both incredibly professional and warmly personable at the same time. It’s rare to encounter such impeccable service alongside such incredible food, and Tiffany made our night unforgettable. Huge kudos to the entire team for flawlessly executing everything, from the kitchen to the front of house. And Tiffany—thank you. I meant it when I said I’ll be back to visit, even if it means going out of my way next time I’m in California. You made a lasting impression.
First time tonight after a few insider recommendations. Chris, Deborah, Tiffany and Erik are amazing not mention the rest of the staff. From the consistent refills of water to the incredible chef, to the deep heart of the ownership and family like staff, this place is not a restaurant, it's literally a home and each person is invited in here to dine in a place filled with love and sincerity. They don't seem to be as concerned with your table number as much as your satisfaction and your personal story. Very unique and very special. 0-10...Food: 11+, Wine & Cocktails: 11+, Customer Service and Attention to Detail: 11+. Cant wait to go back! Tim & Jenn
Stumbled upon this place on accident, we were not dressed for the occasion at all- I was in a tank top with all my tattoos showing and my girlfriend in a sweater and hat. Despite not having a reservation or being dressed, they still politely accommodated us and gave us excellent service. Food was delicious and the drinks perfect. Highly recommend to anyone, and huge thanks to the staff for making us feel welcome!

Incredible service and atmosphere. The whole staff and the owner stopped by to speak with our table. They were really a huge delight. The food, unfortunately, did not meet my expectations for a $50/plate meal. The carpaccio was pretty much an arugula salad with a little meat buried under. The entrees were all good portions, but none were amazing. The table ordered an assortment, and it was universal the pork chop with gnocchi was the best, but the lamb loin lacked flavor and was dry and nothing else was spectacular. I know part of the price is the location—which is great—but it’s tough when the food is more like a poor facsimile of a fancy restaurant than the real deal. The service still made it a wonderful evening, but the food will keep me from returning.
A suitable spot for both families and couples hanging out! Lovely views of the boats and they have their own personal dock from the restaurant. We ordered: 1. Complementary bread and beef with cucumber from the restaurant. Great! 2. Little Gem Salad - $16.00. Candied Bacon, Roasted Pumpkin Seeds, Pomegranate, Petite Greens, Parmesan Dressing. 3. Maple Leaf Farms Duck Breast - $48.00, Polenta Cake, Fava Beans, Haricot Vert Salad, Apricot Compote, Red Wine Jus. 4. Certified Angus Beef Filet Mignon - $68.00, Pommes Au Gratin, Asparagus, Crispy Shallots, Five-Peppercorn Bordelaise. Worth the price. 5. Valrhona Chocolate Molten Cake - $16.00, Vanilla Bean Crème Anglaise, Raspberry Coulis, Praline Ice Cream. Not impressive. Customer service is definitely nice, Tiffany is a great waitress! She is sweet and very enthusiastic about the chef's preparation and presentation! The chef brings dining plates to you making sure food quality is consistent. The wine list is varied with stunning bottles design on the front as well. Great food, service, and ambiance for a weekday night! If there is someone to impress (first date, anniversary, engagement, small group celebration). The Dock will certainly do that. The parking was not bad either.
There are only 14 tables, but the staff were wonderful. The prices demand it but you will get attentive service. And the ambience is spectacular. You get to sit by a dock with water right next to you. It is a very romantic place. They don’t have any loud music which is great. Their wine list is extensive. And with the corkage being $75 may as well try their wines. The cuisine is French, which I love. The scallops were perfect. I did not like the gravy as much as it tasted overly sweet. The pork loin was only OK because it could be more tender and it was a little dry. The brioche bread pudding is good though I make it better. I loved the mushroom soup.
It was a very good meal. We always share everything and usually get a few first course dishes, one or two seconds, depending how we feel after the few firsts and then one dessert. We started with the Japanese Hamachi Sashimi, which was really fresh and had incredible flavor. Loved the passion fruit miso dressing. We then moved onto the Crispy Kurobuta Pork Belly The flavors were really good, but the pork belly itself was overcooked. I personally would of executed the cooking of the pork belly differently, but keep everything else on the plate the exact same. The combo of the coconut foam and charred pineapple was awesome. I think it could use some macadamia nuts for texture, but it was still a great tasting dish. The Charred Little Gem salad was a nice precursor to our main dish. Our main was the Maple Leaf Farm Duck Breast. The duck was tender and perfectly cooked. The gnocchi was a little mushy, but pairing it with the Davao beans help balance the texture. Like the balsamic figs and the slight sweetness it gave the dish. We finished with the Brioche Bread Pudding. We were planning on getting the molten chocolate cake as well, but we were so full that we had to decide on just one dessert and we definitely made the right decision going with the bread pudding. It was the best thing we ate all night. All the components were simple in theory, but they were perfectly executed. Could if eaten a couple of these if we weren’t so full. To bad you can’t really come here for an espresso and one of these. Overall, we really enjoyed the meal, service and amazing location.
A quiet romantic dinner spot with great choice of seafood and poultry. The place is small and a little hide away, when the interior design is absolutely cute with the atoll color furniture and fresh orchid vases. It is amazingly relaxing to have brunch or dinner with some light music watching at the boats flowing by. Charming! Highlights of the menu: 1. Complementary bread and beef with bread from the restaurant. Beef tartar, excellent! 2. Butter Poached Lobster Tail: absolutely stunning! Serves with asparagus and mushroom ragu, pickled beets, and tarragon butter. 3. Fresh Market Fish, which I had Alaskan Halibut with organic quinoa risotto, Brussels sprouts, potato leek veloute, and salsa verde. 4. Spiced NZ Rack of Lamb: the signature of restaurant. But herbs flavor is a bit strong, so I don't recommend it to anybody not very keen on herbs. Customer service is definitely nice and the chef brings dining plates to you making sure food quality is consistent. Wine list is variety with stunning bottles design on the front as well. Suitable spot for both family and couples hanging out!! Metered street parking is available. We come for dinner so it's not hard to find a spot. I would wonder how was it for brunch or lunch time.

The food was delicious. Staff was knowledgeable and gave good recommendations. They helped us get a spot near the window with stunning views. And gave us a free cake for my husband’s birthday. But they forgot to serve the bread until we asked for it. And the raspberry in the dessert we ordered has mold on it.

Went and had a gift card 300.00. We had good food. Server fine. We gave gift card and had 121.00 left. We went again to try halibut. It was good. We had 121.00, we thought but someonr somehow changed the amount and took 60 more AFTER WE LEFT WITH CARD AND DONE WITHOUT OUR KNOWLEDGE OR STORY. THEY HAVE YOUR NUMBER, so a call could have been made. We called the dock and got run around, excuses and now waiting for owner christine, chris tocall back. It is May 13th and we called 4/22/2024. Not nice.
We arrived for my Birthday for a party of 10 with a bottle of Champagne to celebrate, the wine Manager immediately told us the corking fee was 40.00, and could only bring one bottle for the party of 10,?? then my sister brought in birthday cake in and was told that there would be a cutting fee of 2.50 per person? what a way to start the celebration? The service was terrible, and the food was just ok., the price was outrageous for the quality and service, the manager reminded us that there was another party coming in at 8:30 pm and to kindly order as soon as possible. the dining experience was so dis-appointing, I do not recommend this restaurant, please think twice about making a reservation here.
