I had an amazing experience at Meda Restaurant & Coffee. I ordered the kitfo and kurt, and both were absolutely delicious — especially the kitfo, wow! Everything was fresh and full of flavor. The service was excellent as well. Elsa, the lady who served us, was incredibly kind and welcoming. I’m sure I’ll be coming back again. Highly recommended!

Highly recommend Meda, I have been coming here about once every two months for the last three years. Best Ethiopian in the area in my opinion, and I have tried others. If you like spicy food and eat meat, I recommend Lega Tibbs. If you are vegan or vegetarian, the vegetarian platter can’t be beat. For drinks I recommend the ginger tea, but warning, the ginger is strong (I love it). Also the Ethiopian coffee is a great experience. Rebka was a great server! They also had new call buttons on the tables, which makes it easier to ask for more injera ;)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Incredible Kitfo & Dereq Tibs! We came to Meda Coffee & Kitchen and were blown away. The kitfo was unbelievably tender, rich, and perfectly seasoned. The dereq tibs were just as amazing!! crispy, flavorful, and packed with the kind of depth you only get from true Ethiopian cooking. The injera was fresh, the service was warm, and the whole experience felt genuine. Easily one of the best meals we’ve had in Arlington.

The vegetarian platter was a standout, with perfectly cooked lentils, vibrant sides, and soft, spongy injera. Our server was attentive and friendly, offering great recommendations and making sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. The coffee was exceptional as well: rich, smooth, and the perfect finish to the meal. Portions are generous, the menu has something for everyone, and the overall experience felt authentic and comforting. We will absolutely be coming back. Meda Coffee & Kitchen is truly a gem in Arlington.

Very delicious food — the best Ethiopian we've had in the DMV so far. We had the vegetarian combo and the awaze tibs with injera. There was so much food. We also did a coffee ceremony which was delicious. Food does take a while to come out of the kitchen, but it's well worth the wait.

I had the best experience at Meda Coffee & Kitchen. From the moment I walked in, the vibe was warm and welcoming, the service was attentive without being pushy, and everything came out fresh and fast. The star of the show for me was the Meda Special Tibs—perfectly seasoned, hearty, and absolutely delicious. The one drink you have to try is the Tekesheno drink; it’s honestly the most delicious alcoholic drink I’ve ever had—smooth, balanced, and so memorable.

Delicious meals and fantastic service! My first time trying Ethiopian cuisine and I was thoroughly impressed. We tried a lamb dish and it was super filling and so yummy! I’d recommend anyone to try the food and have a good time. For Muslims, the meat is not halal except the lamb. The staff was supper friendly and helped us with choosing dishes and taking lots of photos haha. Will definitely try out more in the future!

This only applies to Uber Eats orders. There are a couple of issues I ran into. First, the food delivered was completely different from what was listed. I ordered Gashlight Tibs, but what arrived was more like well-done Kitfo. To make matters worse, the restaurant tried to defend it as the same, which was frustrating. Another issue is that there are no pictures or proper descriptions for Gashlight Tibs on Uber Eats, which creates a lot of confusion. They also list a ‘half and half’ option with raw meat (tere sega) and tibs, but the dish always arrives cooked—never raw as described. If certain items aren’t available, please don’t list them. The current descriptions give the impression that raw meat options are available when they are not. I updated my review based on the actions taken to resolve the issue. On 9/23/25, I ordered half and half, and as expected, they canceled the order, confirming they don’t have raw meat available—which is great. I’ve updated my rating from 2 stars to 3 stars
