The drink was strong, the crab dip was excellent, and the wagyu burger was the the best burger I had in awhile. Chill live music on Wednesdays. Would definitely come again.
Richard was awesome! Givens Rocks! Good crab dip was great and frozen social drink is also very good.
Had a wonderful time utilizing the private room. Had a blood orange margaritas-must have. The Travern Caesar was good. The chicken gave it another level. The chicken wings were delish!! The Rigatoni Bolognese was decent portion, with good flavor. Very nice service.
Located inside the Crown Plaza CrystalCity hotel. The great food and a full bar.
Came here for drinks. Pink dragon is really good!
My wife and I go here for “date night” during their happy hour (4-6p) which is fabulous. Medilyn provides excellent service and makes tasty cocktails. I use Open Table for making a reservation. Half price draft beers, reduce food prices - we have had their burgers, street tacos, and crab cake sandwich. We highly recommend all three of these, but anything on the menu is tasty. Service is great and very friendly. Don’t miss this gem of a tavern connected to Crown Plaza hotel on Crystal Drive.
My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for the past several months. The food is always great as well as the service. We were just there on September 7th and I had the crab cake sandwich and fries and it was great. Absolutely no filler in the crab cake. My husband had the street tacos and they weee nicely down. Very well seasoned. The service in impeccable. Always friendly and always making suggestions on the menu.
Visited this gem while traveling for work. Spoiler alert: it did not disappoint. Started with the tavern caesar. Fresh, crisp, and perfectly dressed – almost felt like I was committing a crime eating something so healthy. But don’t worry, the guilt didn’t last long because then came the main event: NY strip with frites. As a home steak connoisseur, ordering one out at a restaurant often comes with regret and disappointment. This was not the case at PST; cooked to perfection, well seasoned, and paired with frites that made for ideal accompaniment. Shout out to the staff who provided A+ service throughout the evening. The manager (CJ) was attentive and helpful, checking in but not overbearing. She recommended a red that paired perfectly with the medium rare NY strip. If you’re in the area find yourself in need of a fantastic meal, look no further than Potomac Social Tavern. Great food, excellent service, and a manager who could probably juggle flaming swords if you asked nicely. 10/10 would dine again.
The BEST service around, I’ve been around this area for 3 months and this place Potomac Tavern is by far the most hospitable. Even if you are not staying at the Crowne Place @ Crystal City swing by and you will not be disappointed by the food, environment or hospitality. This has hands down been the best experience in the DC Metro area.
I stay at the Crown Plaza on most of my monthly trips to DC not only for the location but mostly for the food and service at Potomac Tavern. The staff is always friendly and accommodating but the Oriental Salad, Mussels, and Mango Cheesecake is unbelievably delicious. While other things on the menu are equally delicious, these are my favorites. If you are looking for the best elderflower gin and tonic ask for Said. He is the best bartender. And for the best service, ask for Mulla. Highly recommend, also for the music, great mix!!!
Medilyn was a fun bartender. She gave us tips on where to visit while we were in town, and had great customer service!
Location of the venue was very accessible and easy to find. The ambiance was very lively. The presentation of the food was beautiful and not to mention DELICIOUS! My only negative is that the music in the room was a bit too loud when the guest of honor was speaking. We had to ask that it be turned down or off. Would recommend.
Medilyn is extremely a professional i developed a chest cold during my visit she made me a drink with lemon. And honey which made me feel so much better she's truly a credit ,professional and a care giver.
Great place for visitors to our offices. Our out-of-town employees, board members and other guests always enjoy at least one meal at the tavern, and often more than one. And resident staff don't tire of the good food. The staff friendliness adds to the overall warmth of the informal setting, a real bright spot on the north end of Crystal Drive. My only complaint is that it doesn't serve lunch.
We had a nice enjoyable dinner at the hotel bar/restaurant. There were 2 servers and they were very attentive to an almost full restaurant. We ordered mussels and Asian Salad and beers. Food was served promptly and was very tasty. No complaints.
Great French onion soup, seriously. Great bar selection, servers are wonderful (not too overbearing, but always keep you full). It’s the least depressing “hotel” bar I’ve ever seen (a high compliment from a frequent traveller) - they’re actually good in their own right, not just the convenience!
Standard pub fare in hotel bar/restaurant. Service was spot on and cleanliness was first priority. Beer selection was really good. Food was tasty and good portions. Very happy all around to have this restaurant within the hotel I'm staying at (Crowne Plaza - Crystal City).
Just finished a trip to DC and ended up in the hotel bar every night, as usual. Said was an amazing bartender, remembers what you're drinking, and the service and food overall was fantastic. If we stay here or nearby again, I will be back!
We hosted a retirement social for 20-30 guests in the private space. The space was perfect for our needs. We ordered drinks at the very busy bar, but the bartenders definitely gave our guests priority - which was greatly appreciated. The food suggested tasted great and was more than enough for everyone to enjoy. We would definitely recommend and return.
I almost didn't come here because of a few of the reviews. Soooo GLAD I took a leap of faith. Service was exceptional (thank you Kassa!) food was excellent, as were the cocktails. We are Mussels Connoisseurs and this one is now our #1 pick. There are a billion restaurants to choose from in Crystal City and this one could easily get overlooked, BUT DON'T! Worth it.
@potomacsocialtavern So I'm working in DC this weekend and every i come i stay at the Crown Plaza in Arlington. The hotel is amazing but, the restaurant, Potomac Tavern is just amazing! The service, the food and best of all, the people. I asked my bartender to make me something special. I think I just had the BEST Old fashion ever! He used there own brand of whiskey, Potomac whiskey. So smooth and the flavors just popped! SO GOOD! Of you are in the area stop by and try one.you will not regret it. Thanks Kassa, you rock!
Went for a first date. Asked for a more romantic spot which they did not have but offered a complimentary desert for my date to make up for it. They did not have unsweetened tea but the gentleman kindly brewed two glasses for me the old fashioned way. For a first date this place was amazing. The servers and staff were kind and generous and gave us plenty of space to have our date without interruption. I would like to praise the staff again. Undoubtedly their consideration for our date and desire for privacy contributed to what was mutually considered a great and enjoyable time. I do not plan on more first dates, but this was a date I will remember long after. Apologies on lack of food review... my date got the Cosnopolitan nonalcoholic drink which she particularly enjoyed. Our only food for the evening was crab dip which we shared; though we did not finish, it was delicious, as our minds were turned elsewhere. I have no idea if anything else on the menu was good, but for an experience of this type I could have asked for no better.
I was hungry and bored. Got the clam chowder. Excellent. Got the crab dip. There is lots of crabby goodness in there, but something didn't strike me perfect on the cheese bake. Then I got the fish tacos, and holy schnikies. They were delightful. I'd actually recommend all three. But it would have to be the fish tacos, the chowder which was incredible, and the crab dip which was super pleasant. I hate advocating for restaurants that are owned by lots of money And l much prefer to advocate for the lesser-known hole in the walls. But at the end of the day, if you're in a pinch and it's close, I would definitely go here again. If I could rate a 4.6 I would. High praise from me. Just saying.
Excellent place! I normally leave work just in time for their happy hour and bring friends when possible. The service is always outstanding and the ambiance always pleasant. I totally recommend Potomac Social Tavern!
Potomac Social Tavern was traffic for many reasons- from location to atmosphere, food and service; it’s certainly worth a visit! We hosted a social event in their private room and everyone had an incredible time! The food was absolutely delicious- we catered tacos (steak and chicken), wings, meatballs, pretzels & cheese, a couple charcuterie boards and assorted bite size desserts (that were beautiful and delicious). Not a single item disappointed and everything was well presented. They had high quality and fresh ingredients- that were all deliciously made! Our servers were all friendly and pleasant to work with! Huge shout out to the petite Philippina bartender who everyone praised. The wining drink for a lot of us- was the hibiscuses lemonade that was a divine creeper (sooo yummy)- felt like a vacation drink at the beach!! I highly recommend this place for a family or event night/ outing!
Went here for dinner w family and friends. The place isn't that large it seems like the tables are really close together making it a bit hard for servers to get by and customers too. The service was good and the food/drinks were good. It's definitely a bar atmosphere and is loud if there is a crowd in there. Be prepared to speak up.
Mussels were AMAZING, one serving on the starter menu could be a main. Also had one MD crab cake and it was good, but a bit messy after cutting into it. The Barrel Aged Old Fashioned was disappointing. Too chocolatey and the cherry garnish was missing (maraschino is NEVER an acceptable substitute in an Old Fashioned). Other than that, really good place for a hotel restaurant.
This place did the job! It was what we needed when we needed it. Arianna is a great server and took really good care of our large party. I would definitely visit them again.
Eleni made me her Fall old fashion. I really liked it. I came with my family from Norway and I am enjoying my stay here at the hotel. Great service!! Thank you everyone
They were sold out of things I specifically came for which broke my heart. This is why I only marked a 4 for food. But all in all what I did have was very good. Staff were very friendly and it didn't seem to matter who helped. Anyone in the area checked in with me even though I wasn't their area. It was really amazing. It was extremely loud which was made worse somehow by the space. But that isn't really their fault. It is the only reason I marked it as 4 instead of 5 for atmosphere. If you are coming and hoping for an important conversation, I don't recommend it. But if you are just looking to drown in a space surrounded by happy chatter and conversation, this is pretty amazing. They do have a happy hour sometimes that has some good things on it. The parmesan fries were pretty tasty. I highly recommend them. I do like them crispy and specially requested it and they delivered.
Service was spectacular. The food was average pub meal, but the Happy Hour drafts was tasty. My son had the Prime Burger which was cooked to his liking and I the meatballs. They were served in a tasty sauce. All for all... not bad.
Service was ok. A little slow but it wasn’t to bad. Got annoyed they ran out of the desert my wife was wanting and told us about it 20 minutes later. The food made up for it, the replacement desert was good and the drink was good. Not bad if you’re staying at the hotel it’s attached to. I wouldn’t go out of my way if I wasn’t a guests here.
Stopped by Potomac Social Tavern recently to meet a friend for drinks. I don’t come here often, but the experience was overall pretty solid. The service stood out right away — really friendly and attentive without being pushy. Our server checked in just the right amount and made sure our drinks were always topped off. The drinks were great — well-mixed, reasonably priced, and they had a nice variety on the cocktail menu. We didn’t try the food this time, but other tables seemed to be enjoying theirs, and I’ve heard mixed but mostly positive things about it. The atmosphere was just okay — not bad, but nothing particularly exciting either. It kind of feels like a hotel bar vibe: clean and functional, but lacking a bit of character or energy. That said, it’s a good enough spot for a casual drink and a good conversation, especially if you're in the area or staying nearby. Wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way to come here regularly, but I’d definitely come back again to meet a friend or grab a low-key drink. The service alone makes it a worthwhile stop.
Service was great and food was good in general. Steak was a tad over cooked because it was thin. Fries were soggy.
We ordered take-out from here during our one-night stay at the Crowne Plaza. The food was just okay. After I placed my online order, they called to say they were out of one of the main ingredients in my seafood pasta, which was good of them. It was a bit bland, especially for how expensive it was, but we were just relieved to have had an easy way to get food after a long day of traveling.
Well... my server was great. PREFIX: I don't often get to dine out of town with my family but summer has produced this opportunity. 🙈We all had mixed opinions on our meals. My oldest ordered burgers tavern and BBQ. Oldest said 4 out of 5 but he ordered well done I watched as he ate a medium burger. My youngest said if you could eat water well this is what it would taste like . Sooo...my hubby he had the steak frites he said it wasn't bad just hotel food. Umm for these prices? I must have been at the best hotels then ( I wasntt)... last buy not least I choice just simple chicken. My chicken came bland with the most disrespectful mac and cheese plus my favorite veggie Brussels spouts was inediblly undercooked.i tried everything out and yeah underseaTsoned burgers. There are way better choices in the area in my opinion.
The PST is on the lobby level of the Crowne Plaza hotel. I ordered the PST burger online. It's a little spendy and each item you add (like cheese, Bacon etc) is an additional dollar. There's also an online order fee. The order was supposed to be ready in 30 minutes. When I went down to get it, it was not ready. I waited an extra 30 minutes before they brought me my food. A person who walked in and ordered was able to get her food before I got mine. At least when I finally got my food it was hot. Food quality was pretty good. The packaging was really good so the burger and fries were not soggy when I ate them. Seemed like they were really short staffed. The staff that was there was great, but the 30 minute extra wait really tanks the service score.
They had the House special for $45 prime rib They didn’t give me prime rib. They gave me some other steak that was very chewy.. very disappointed! Look at picture you can tell that’s not a prime rib! Reminded me of Ponderosa.
I ordered the crab dip and was disappointed because it seemed like mostly cream cheese. Reluctantly, I called to let them know (politely). They offered to prepare something else. I requested the calamari. When I got to my room I was upset about how many pieces were actually banana peppers. There were probably only 5 pieces of actual calamari. God knows what else they used as filler. I called to let the manager know. They offered a refund at this point. I’m too tired to go down a 3rd time. Very unprofessional, dissatisfied. There is a green hue to the calamari in the photo because they are pretty much ALL banana peppers. **right before posting this the manager called and was apologetic and able to process a refund. So I’m giving them 2 stars instead of a 1 star review.
Probably a good place for drinks and apps at the bar. The soft pretzel was good. But the beet and goat cheese spinach salad with grilled chicken was not good and service was very slow. I do not recommend eating dinner here, personally.
Absolutely freezing cold this evening, hotel lobby was blistering hot, WTH… No coffee, no hot drinks whatsoever? Service speed was ‘acceptable’, staff was friendly.
While the food was good and the staff was friendly, the speed of service needs to take A LOT OF lessons from a good Mexican restaurant. I was there on a Friday night, so I will give management the benefit of the doubt that they got caught short-handed for service staff on busy night. Our large group waited over 15 minutes to be seated since the tavern was at capacity, which is understandable. Once we were seated, it was well over 2 hours before we were done and had paid the bills. We hardly had anyone checking on us for drink refills - to the point where I had to ask for water refills. When we were first seated, we (as a large group) forgot to specifically point out that we would be on separate bills, which caused the staff to balk at first. I have never seen wait staff balk at having to split up a bill - for a large group, splitting up the bill shouldn't be an issue. One family with two small children (infant / toddler age) were seated at the same time as my group. They left after a few minutes since they were waiting too long to have someone check on them, and the children couldn't wait on the slow service. I felt really badly for them. The only reason I went up to 2 stars instead of 1 star is that the food was quite good. Sadly, the substandard speed of service soured my experience here. I guess they can guess away with the speed of service since there aren't a lot of convenient alternative options for evening dining near the tavern. They have the benefit of cornering a captive audience from out of town who won't know any better!
Food was surpassingly good after having to ask someone to check on it. There were 6 guests at the bar. 2 other tables of 2. Upon arrival we waited at host stand for 2-4 min. Doesn’t sound long but first impressions everything. Bartender came over and sat us. He then left and never came back. When he walked by seeing we still haven’t been helped he made it seem like he was going out of his way to take our order. Order was taken. Wife ordered the hisbiscus lemon drop. Ehh okay. Not a crafty cocktail. After waiting 40 min (not exaggerating) I asked a server to check on our food. Boom! Oh look it was ready. After that no one ever came back. No water refills, no checking back, no asking for dessert or another drink etc. finally asked a manager for our check, who the whole time seemed like she didn’t care and was helping a 6 person little event in the back space. Server came with it. Our drinks weren’t on there so he went to add that. Food good. Drinks no. Server hell no.
The bartenders ignore people at the bar and claim how busy they are. While there are 3 people behind the bar, the bar is not full nor are all the tables occupied. It appears they are not able to multi-task as a true bartender in a much busier venue can. These seem to be very amatuer bartenders at best. Worst of all, the guy next to me waited about 5 minutes for someone to serve him and when he spoke up, one of the bartenders said they were very busy in a rude tone and said he just got there so needs to wait his turn. Very unimpressed at how they manage a not so busy bar and resturant area. If my company books me in the Crown Plaza Hotel, I will never come back to the Potamac Social Tavern again and will walk 1/2 mile down the street or get uber eats.
Well, its a place to eat. The food isn't bad. Stayed in the hotel for a 4 days and ate here two times. CHECK YOUR RECIEPT. The first night 20% was added automatically for 2 people. The next night it wasn't added. They served a bourbon on the rocks and I noticed a cherry stem in the bottom of the glass. BUT it never came with a cherry, so I got someone else's cherry stem. Overall.... MEH.
We went last night and a really bad experience (except for the friends we were meeting). I was excited because I don't usually get to the city for dinner. Chose this restaurant because of the photos and menu. Both were appealing. Started off with a cocktail, dirty martini, which was very good but I noticed a gnat in the drink and of course sent it back. I got a replacement in a timely manner with an upgraded vodka - but it really didn't matter to me. We ordered "lemon drop martinis" for our guests and they came to us pink in color. Okay they were the happy hour special a hibiscus lemon drop which wasn't bad but I think I should have been told they weren't lemon drops. Food started and while my steak was underwhelming it was okay but the fries were cold. Like not even warm, cold. Sent those back and they didn't return for 25 minutes. Obviously the steak was gone. We did receive a wonderful peach liquor "shot" as an apology. Then we ordered desert and I ordered coffee. They didn't have any. Huh? Finally, and everyone is free to smoke or not smoke as their personal habits decide, but our waiter had a strong stale smoke odor that really wasn't pleasant. I won't go back. Too many options in DC. I hope everyone else has a great experience. It may have just been an odd night.
It's becoming overwhelming disappointing more and more in America with hotel restaurants and service. The quality of food presentation and overpriced pre cooked dinner. My runny blue cheese wedge salad dressing, wilted hearts of romaine, happy hour appetizer served cold meatballs, nachos fries and crab dip except to be cold appears to be leftovers or left out overnight. Ordered lava fudge cake as a desert, stale and microwaved. Doesn't matter how hard you work and what you spend on eating out. You'll never get the experience expected just sad. Salads PST Wedge Salad $13.75 Little gem, fried prosciutto heirloom teardrop tomatoes, pickles onions, hard boiled egg, and homemade Blue cheese dressing
Upcharging service. Went in during happy hour and ordered some drinks. They handed us a bill for full price beverages saying that they just assumed we wanted top-shelf liquor instead because we didn't specify we wanted happy hour drinks... taste was indistinguishable from normal alcohol for that price.
Un acceptable delay for a mediocre place not even half full. 45' for a vegetarian curry????
The food was average, the margs the bartender made were great! The reason for a one star is my bill.! I left a cash tip and put $0 for a tip when I paid with my card. They took the liberty to add themselves over$20 in extra tip on my card!!! Beware
