Opinions de Fonda Cobá Nueva York
Our second time here and it didn’t disappoint. The food was delicious, we tried some of the bartender’s recommendations: camarones adobados and the enchiladas poblanas, the queso fundido was great too. The drinks were amazing, Jahel was a great host and we had the chance to catch a quick conversation with Alex, the manager who was very kind and helpful, we definitely come back.
This was our second visit here and it was just as good as the first time. I won't make a specific food suggestion because everything we've tried has been great! (Okay, maybe give the Rosalita margarita a try.) Rosi, our server, was fantastic. What else can I say? Go enjoy some food!
My favorite Mexican restaurant in tribecca, Mexican food is authentic! Tacos de filete & carne asasa are a must! Shout out to the manager Emilio that treated us kind! Also the drinks are really good. If you are nearby the area come to eat to Fonda.
Drinks and food are amazing!! Their seasonal flavors and authentic dishes make me go back again and again. The ambience is incredible to enjoy spectacular drinks and food. I recommend trying the specials and some of their staples, like the flautas and street corn.
My go-to spot for everything. You truly can’t go wrong with Fonda. It’s perfect for any occasion: upscale without being uptight, beautifully designed, and very reasonably priced considering the quality and flavor of the food. And the food… it’s fantastic! As someone born and raised in Mexico, I come here whenever I miss home cooking. Everything I’ve tried has been delicious, but please don’t miss the zarape de pato. It’s absolutely delectable. I brought my [Mexican] mom here while she was visiting. She was skeptical. She lives in Mexico, so what could a Mexican restaurant in the U.S. possibly offer her? Well, she’s now obsessed. She mentions that zarape at least every few weeks, still trying to replicate the sauce, and regularly tells me I should go have some. So yes, it has my full endorsement. And my mom’s too, all the way from rural Mexico, a place known for its incredible cooking.
Attended a friends birthday party and from the moment I got there the service was amazing. From the appetizer to the main course and the drinks, everything including the atmosphere was wonderful. Had a great time would highly recommend to anyone. Thank you all and see you soon.
The price point matches the care put into the food. The portions satisfy completely at affordable rates. Adding to its excellence, the proprietor is extremely friendly and detail-oriented. The dish featured uncommon components yet came efficiently. Other options miss what matters.
For those that know a good enchilada, this is the place for you! My wife and I went there at 8pm on a Tues and it was busy but not too busy. They were able to seat us without a reservation. I ordered the chicken enchiladas. The enchilada sauce was amazing. It was zesty and tangy, but not too spicy hot. The chicken was moist and flavorful. Far too often the chicken can be dry in enchiladas, but not here. My wife had fried plantains with cheese and crema. She also liked her plantains. My wife loves tamarind aqua fresca and they had it here. The service was friendly and prompt. We had our food quickly. The price was reasonable.
Fonda is awesome! The food is fresh, flavorful, and full of that true Mexican taste — the tacos, guac, and margaritas are all spot on. The vibe is lively and colorful, and the staff are super friendly and quick. Perfect place to grab great food, good drinks, and chill with friends.
If you’re craving authentic Mexican food with a modern twist, Fonda is the place to be. From the moment we walked in, the vibrant, yet cozy atmosphere made us feel like we were dining in a neighborhood gem. The restaurant has a warm, inviting vibe with colorful decor that’s not over-the-top, but just right to set the mood. We started with the guacamole with tortilla chips, and it was absolutely divine—fresh, flavorful, and with just the right amount of spice. For the main course, I had the enchiladas verdes, which were fantastic. The chicken was juicy, the sauce was tangy and rich, and the dish was perfectly balanced. My friend opted for the mole chicken, and it was a winner too – the mole sauce was rich and deep, and the chicken was cooked to perfection. The margaritas were also a highlight – refreshing, not too sweet, and served with a salted rim. They really know their way around cocktails at Fonda. The service was friendly and attentive, and we were made to feel welcome from the moment we walked in. Overall, Fonda is the perfect spot for anyone craving authentic Mexican flavors with a contemporary edge. It’s casual, vibrant, and the food is absolutely top-notch. I’ll definitely be coming back for more!
Great spot for both happy hour and dinner! As we have enjoyed the other location in Chelsea, it was great to welcome this establishment in Tribeca. Birria de res was an interesting spin! The guac was tasty, and I’d recommend getting the spice on the side. HH all night Monday and Sunday; 4-7 p.m. Tuesday to Friday.

Each dish is expertly crafted with high-quality ingredients, resulting in rich and authentic flavors that leave a lasting impression Overall, Fonda restaurant is a must-visit spot for anyone looking to enjoy a taste of Mexico in the heart of New York City. With its inviting atmosphere, flavorful dishes, and attentive service, Fonda is sure to impress even the most discerning food enthusiasts.
NYC is full of great restaurants and this restaurant is amazing! They have indoor and outdoor seating and we decided to sit outside! The menu has plenty of good options and they have separate vegetarian menu! The service was great our server was very friendly and helpful and attentive, the food came out quickly and everything was very delicious and fresh! I recommend this place!
What a great first visit we enjoyed at La Fonda last night! First off, all the staff was super friendly and offered great advice about the menu (there were so many entrees that looked good, we needed some steering!). Drinks: Hibiscus frozen drink was gorgeous to look at and just delicious. S. Blanc from Mexico was another good pick. Made to order guacamole to start was a must! Huge chunks of fresh avocado and you could choose your spice level. Entrees: The grilled red snapper special (difficult to find this fish on menus) and Camarones Adobados (shrimp over spicy green rice and black bean sauce, which I requested to be less spicy, thanks!). Fresh blue homemade tortillas (I woke up wanting these badly!). Thank you for offering these. Just mouthwatering! Dessert: We were too full, but next time it will be the choc. tres leches cake, in case you are wondering). Note: everything had a complex flavor and you could taste the love put into cooking the dish!
Food was great and flavorful. They have a whole vegetarian menu and it’s really good.
East Village Mexican gem—Fonda's food is vibrant and flavorful! Got the tableside guacamole (fresh, chunky, perfect seasoning), al pastor tacos juicy with pineapple kick, enfrijoladas rich and comforting with black bean sauce, and mole negro enchiladas deep and complex. Everything felt authentic and elevated. Service was friendly and quick (great cocktail recs), though it slowed when busy. Atmosphere is cozy and fun—bright colors, warm lighting, buzzy energy—ideal for a casual night out, though seating's tight. Highly recommend for real-deal Mexican in the neighborhood!
October 2025. Good and courteous staff, excellent happy hour, delicious tacos, and guacamole. Good happy hour prices. Mango margarita is really good $12.00 happy hr price. Fully recommended.
Great Mexican in TriBeCa. Food is consistent. Staff are super friendly and accommodating. Plenty of tequila options if you’re a tequila lover. Fun space inside and outside if it’s a nice day. Enchilada (chicken) suizas is tasty and has a nice acidic kick to it. The better half had salmon con manchamanteles and loved it. Guac to start a classic and the empanadas del mar we’re yum. All mains come with rice and beans. Can’t really go wrong here if you’re looking for a staple local Mexican
The kitchen was open to making dishes vegetarian. Great atmosphere and service. Great alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Food was good as well. I wish there was more light in the restaurant, when we were there's around 4 PM it felt kind of dark but definitely not a deal breaker in any way. We had been to the Chelsea location last year and this one in Tribeca felt markedly better, at least in terms of service.
