Pizzaiolo has been my favorite restaurant in the Temescal Rockridge area for many years. There is a reason why they are still so popular: it's the food. It's the vibe (always great music). It's the wait staff. Whether you are sitting inside or on the lovely back patio, it is California / Italian-inspired dining at its best. The salads are amazing. Tonight the tuna crudo was like the most sublime sashimi only better because it was giant slabs of tuna. Always love the pizzas. Even the bread to start with the salty butter is to die for. Be sure to order olives. The drinks are fantastic, with house made tonics. You will not find any restaurant with more carefully sourced, local ingredients than Pizzaiolo. 5-6 PM go for the pepperoni pizza at happy hour!

This place is amazing. Great atmosphere, stellar food, great service. Their back patio is nice with powerful outdoor heat lamps, I wouldn’t shy away from a seat there, even mid winter.

This place is incredible. The first thing you notice walking in is the atmosphere. Excellent ambience, dark and moody lighting which I love, and a great layout. I came here for the pizza. I grew up in New Haven CT, home to some of the greatest pizza in the country. I got the Marinara pizza here and asked for a side of parm to sprinkle on it. It was immaculate. Excellent leoparding char on the crust, perfectly seasoned sauce, and ideal chew on the dough. I got dessert of seared peaches with a scoop of gelato. Absolutely banging. The syrup on mine was a bit past caramelized and was burnt, but plenty of it was ideal. I’d rather have it like that than under done. 10/10 will return and devour more marinara pies.

Absolutely fantastic experience at Pizzaiolo! It was worth waiting 15-20 mins in the line as don’t accept reservations. The wood-fired pizza is simply outstanding, with a unique blend of flavors that sets it apart from anything else. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a relaxed meal. We’ll definitely be back for more!

Servers really make you feel special here. Beautiful details in the art, dried wreaths and rustic interior. Great date night away from kids. All food items feel like they were made with love of ingredients. Puntarelle and margherita pizza recommended. Crab was also delicious.

Pizzaiola is an exceptional restaurant where you’ll want to order everything on their menu! We had Winter Chicory salad that was made of different kinds of chicories, apples and other ingredients that made me want to either get the recipe of just keep returning for more! We ordered a pizza with squash that was also spectacular. You could easily walk by Pizzaiolo since they have a simple wooden sign but once you’re inside it’s worth the wait for a table. They don’t take reservations and they are only open from 5 to 9pm on Mondays to Fridays , til 10 pm on Saturdays & Sundays

This place was good. My only thing that I disliked was the wait time. For 2 people on a Sunday night took 45 mins. We almost gave up, but we were too invested. We ended up sharing a table with another couple. The pizza was great and the antipasta was very good. The salads here are great. All great choices. Cocktails are good too. I would return and hope the wait times aren't too long next time.

615pm on a Friday night, 20 minute wait for a table for two, we ended up at a communal high top but that was fine. Place has a great vibe, very busy and dim light. Ordered some weird Caesar salad and an arugula and prosciutto pizza both were excellent. Service was great and had no issues despite it being very busy. They run a pretty tight ship. Funny how many parents dine there with their very young children, like infants and toddlers. Whatever floats your boat.

Delicious food! Outside is way too loud so we moved to the back patio which was so nice. Spacious with spaced out seating and space heaters. It’s at the back of the building too so it’s away from cars and pedestrians.

Overall food tastes good, however would not return due to service and cost given the service. 5/10. Came on a Friday night. Alcoholic drinks were okay. Ordered the burrata appetizer, pesto spaghetti and the corn pizza as well as dessert which all tasted pretty good. The service was strange. We were seated before a table next to us and the table next to us consistently got their food, drinks, and was asked if they wanted dessert or service every time before us even though we had sat down before them and were clearly ready to order or ready to move on to dessert. Wasn’t that considerably off but just felt weird in the timing. It’s also very loud inside and I had to raise my voice frequently so my partner could hear me and they had to do the same. Service is generally slow but felt slower than the table next to us. Was not sure if the difference in treatment was privy to our waitresses opinion of us and made us wonder. Oh well, will not be returning anytime soon given the wide array of restaurants here and would not be eager to recommend to friends and family either!

Decent Italian place, but not as good as it appears from how busy it is and the high reviews. The wait can be long. Put your name down and check back frequently. They don't call or text you. We waited almost 1 hr at dinner time on a Sat. They have indoor and outdoor seating (with heat lamps). Very dark inside. Small 1 page menu. Always a good thing. We ordered the mushroom pasta $36, pork ragu pasta $32, morel pizza (mushroom) $34, and panna pizza $29. Both pastas were housemade, high quality, good flavor, decent portion. While the pizzas had a great crust and were good overall, they were all charred. Both pizzas, one so severely charred that we asked for a new one, which they kindly provided. New one was still charred but much more edible. Check the bottom of your pizza before eating. The pizzas felt overpriced Overall, overrated Cons: overpriced, can't cook pizza properly, minimal service Pros: authentic food, high quality ingredients They add a 4% living wage that you can request to take off. I don't recommend this place. There are better options

Food was beyond mid. Pizzas are $25–30 for a 10-inch “personal” pizza with toppings that look like someone sneezed them on — one side loaded, the other bare. Pasta and caesar salad were $20–25 each and tasted… fine, I guess. Nothing special. For comparison, June Pizza charges about the same for a 14–16 inch pie that actually tastes amazing and looks like someone cared. The employees were genuinely nice, so no complaints there. But if you’re going to charge this much, you’re automatically held to a higher standard — and the food just doesn’t deliver. Also, it was hot. The AC wasn’t broken — it’s just clearly undersized for the space. Felt like dining in a sauna. If you’re coming for the vibes or social media backdrop, sure, go for it. But if you’re after good food, fair prices, or a comfortable place to eat, I’d skip it.
