Stopped at Basil on late afternoon, opted for a Vegan Stromboli. Made fresh as I waited and people watched. It was worth every minute. Delicious!!! Been craving more than decent Vegan pizza options, this hit the spot!!! Craving sated.

Great food. I’ve ordered twice from here already. The staff members are very friendly. Their food is very fresh and yummy. I will certainly be ordering a lot more from here. Keep up the good work guys. The slice app is convenient to place orders online. I ordered their chicken specialty dishes both the time, I’ll be trying pepperoni next time :)
I've driven and walked by this place for almost a year and always thought, man those Pizza slices that look like wings on the side of the building are awesome! Its like Nashville, or Austin, but here! and Pizza! Anyways, finally got around to ordering and am very sad I waited this long. Basil has some of the tastiest sauce/cheese on any pizza I've had in a long time! Delicious! The Mozz sticks were also, perfect! Crunchy on the outside, molten on the inside, and flavor explosions the whole time. Mix that with some awesome service and this place is a must visit. Quick note, while I was waiting for my pickup, there were two people ordering who were in a hurry but these guys were so good about it, and just overall threw out good vibes. Just made me feel good before I had even eaten a bite.
It seems to be a small ma & pa pizza shop, small lobby with a couple of tables. Their pizza was amazing. We ordered one of their listed pizzas & added a few extra meat topping. You can go wrong with their pizza, very tasty. Next time I am in Oakland, California, I will be ordering 2 pizzas, one to eat & one to take with me home.
No frills family run pizzeria. I got a slice of the specialty pizza and a Mexican coke, you absolutely cannot go wrong with this, the pizza was super flavorful I honestly loved it. I wish we had more of these shops that sell pizza by the slice🥹 esp small businesses! The pizza was def not fresh which was unfortunate because I know with certainty that a fresh pizza would’ve been even more fire 🔥 will come back for sure.
Best pizza in America. Guy knows how to make pizza. He has brought The art of italy to the bay. He has mastered the art of pizza.
Honestly, this might be the best pizza I’ve had in Oakland so far and I’ve been living here 10 years. The cheese was outstanding, we watched the owner make the pizza from scratch right before us! This is a family owned business and they do an exceptional job. Definitely go support them, they are worth it!

I recently ordered pizza from Basil for a marketing event. We had one guest that requested a gluten free option, some guests wanted chicken wings, and everyone was down for some good pizza. Basil Pizzeria was able to check every box. The pizza is as superb as their customer service. If you are looking for a place that serves great pizza, why not support a small business as well? Stop by Basil Pizzeria today!

We have ordered their buffalo wings twice and were very happy both times! They keep the sauce separate when ordering take out so that they wings stay extra crispy. We tried their Calabrese pizza most recently and asked for a side of balsamic glaze, it was very delicious! The new manager/owner and his team are doing a great job, so I am happy to keep supporting this local restaurant during the shelter in place orders.

I bought a piece of a sliced special pepperoni cheese pizza and the taste was just okay. One piece was enough and I paid only $6.00 plus $1.00 tip. The owner was nice even ONE PIECE order.
Their Funghi pizza was actually pretty good. Calzone was 7/10. Prices are higher than what I would honestly pay. Non-existent service. Pizza took way too long and they forgot to make it for the first ten minutes after I had ordered it. I would maybe go back, but probably not.

Look the pizza was expensive and mid tasting nothing bad but not great I feel bad because they were local business and family ran but it was long wait for something that was alright. The garlic knots was crazy tho 😭 it was damn near js garlic chopped up and thrown on top. Look all love tho im sorry for the low stars but i gotta be honest
Slices managed to be soggy, dry and burnt at the same time
This place was pretty pricey for pizza, and especially for pizza if the quality that we got. The dough was chewy and tough, and the pizza wasn’t cooked very well. IDK if they used bad yeast or their oven temperature is too low, or what, but it was not good. It was like the pizza was half baked and half steamed. I put it in the air fryer for a few minutes the second time, which improved it a lot - crust actually had a crispness to it and the pepperoni cupped up a bit - but no way should I need to be cooking it at home for $30 a pie. A lot of reviews raving about their pizza but most are over a year old; so maybe new management? Regardless, not worth a second attempt from me when I can get tastier and cheaper pizza from Dominos a couple blocks away, or pop over to Drake’s if I want something more impressive.

This place was so dis functional that not even the menu is written correctly. Food order was wrong and took an hour to make. Food was undercooked and it tasted horrible. Do not come here
DO NOT GO HERE. I simply went in for two slices of pepperoni pizza. 2 minuets he says. 10 minuets later, comes out with one piece and the other is destroyed. Says he’s gonna give me that and another slice because at this point one piece looks unrecognizable. I waited ANOTHER 10 min for him to just give me the initial destroyed piece, and nothing more. He insisted that I try it in front of him. The broken piece. Stating “see good!? It’s good!?” Again, I ordered 2 slices of pepperoni, to go. Here’s what my order looks like. I usually don’t write reviews but this is really bad. Also the one piece I did try was awful. DONT GO HERE.
What is this? Look at the picture! Where are the toppings? We get one cherry tomato and a basil leaf per slice, and maybe 1/5 of the slice has some sauce?! This is offensive! It tasted microwaved, none of the cheese is browned, this is an atrocity. Just get Domino’s at this point, Basil’s can’t even improve on strip mall pizza.
The pizza was burnt and they did not answer the phone so that I could get another pizza

This pizza spot use to be the best pizza in downtown Oakland. Now this pizza is the worst pizza in the Bay Area. The owner acts like a know it all and thinks he knows how to run a business , and he doesn’t. The menu stayed the same but the ingredients are poor quality now. I really hope his business does strive and get better so they can succeed. But I hardly doubt it.
I moved 2 blocks away from this place a few months ago. My buddy from the neighborhood insisted on giving me the rundown of every restaurant around. He never mentioned this place even though it is so close. Since then, I have discovered why. The place doesn't seem to stick to their advertised hours. Ordering online proves to be challenging, and when you call, the phone sometimes just rings forever. This is the reason why it took me so long to try the place at all. Their pizza is pretty expensive, so when I finally tried the place, I got a calzone. The flavor was way off and, while not terrible, I would never eat that again. Decided to give them a second chance last night. I wasn't very hungry, I just wanted a snack, so I phoned in an order for 2 of their appetizers (first time they ever answered). When I ordered, I was told that my food would be ready in 10min. I told him that was quicker than I thought it would be and that I would be a little longer. 15min later, I was a block away when I got a call from them basically asking why I wasn't there yet. Seemed pretty unfriendly and slightly confrontational. I have NEVER had that happen to me before, and I order a lot of takeout. When I got there, I was rang up and then I noticed that I was charged a dollar more per item than the price listed on their website. When I mentioned it, the person at the register tried to claim it was tax and then tried to fast-talk his way out of it. They pointed to their in-house sign where the price was, indeed, $1 more than what was posted on the site. I was a little annoyed at this point because I had a feeling I was gonna regret coming here, just based on anticipated food quality, and now I was paying even more for something I felt was already overpriced. I mentioned the false advertising on the website and that they should honor that price for me, as I was on the fence about patronizing them anyway. They tried to reduce it down to convincing me that I could afford to pay the extra $2, implying that I was complaining because I didn't have the money. Pretty insulting, as I promise you my bank account is fatter than any of theirs (run your business better and maybe you'll catch up). Although they insisted on charging me the full amount, I was promised that they would give me a discount next time. This was a sleazy move considering 1)He was trying to hook me into coming back after this terrible service, or 2)Assumed I would never come back again and by saying that, he would shut me up and have me on my way. If it was the second, he is correct. I left confused and slightly insulted. Story’s not over. They put my food in a brown paper bag and I left. A few steps out of the store, something stabbed me in the thumb. I realized these people thought it was a great idea to stable the bag closed with massive, loose staples, and one of them penetrated my thumb about a quarter of an inch and hurt like hell. To top off this wonderful experience, the food sucked, as expected. With the high prices, low quality food, and combative customer service, I don't expect this place to be around too much longer.
Very horrible service and pizza!! Wanted to try but never again! Pizza was burnt and they had very bad attitude like they don’t even wanna be there!thumbs down!! Go somewhere else for your pizza!!
