Opinions de Cafe Santana Roasting Company Oakland
What a great local coffee shop!! I met Richard over 10 years ago and remember his ambitions to become a master coffee roaster. Today, after moving back into the neighborhood, I rediscovered this little gem! I got an oat milk latte and the coffee beans taste so good. They have great notes and very floral overtones. It’s such a breath of fresh air not drinking your standard commercial coffee roast since they have the roaster in the shop! I will definitely need to bring home some bags of coffee and continue the party at home with their roasts. The environment is enjoyable because of its Low-key vibe, good music, and plenty of foot traffic if you enjoy people watching. If you would like to work, you can sit in the window and get the defused light or set along the wall and use a table.
A hallmark of a good leader is surrounding themselves with people who are free to speak and have diversity in perspectives and ideas. When I asked the owner which latte was best, he said let me ask. Turns around and asked his employees. I have to come back to try the caramel however the Mexican mocha was exquisite.
Visit in our friends and they took us here, a popular local spot for those not in a rush. The coffee takes a while to make. You order at the counter and they will call your name when it’s ready. They were nice enough to let our large dogs inside, as long as they didn’t sit in the benches. Several tables and chairs. We tried three different empanada flavors, chicken was my favorite over the corn or the beef. They had to specially brew decaf espresso for me as they did not have it available right away.
First of all, the coffee here is delicious, they roast their own beans and you can literally smell it down the block 😍 There is currently enough seating for around 10 people, and they have good wifi, great for working. It’s a lovely family owned business and the folks who work there are so kind and friendly. They have lots of coffee and espresso drinks and teas and also quite a bit of food with vegan and gluten free options!!
I just moved back to Oakland about a week ago from Maui, Hawaii. I’ve never been a Starbucks kind of person, just locally owned coffee shops. And I must admit this place is amazing! Plus I live 3 minutes up the street so it’s convenient for me. Coffee is really good and the Corazon that I had the other day was delicious.
Clean, simple yet modern looking coffee shop. The coffee is tasty. Easy to read and choose menu. The tables and chairs don't feel sticky. My wife and I found a couple of seats next to the bookshelves, they have plenty of books to keep you busy. The staff is super delightful yet chill. The coffee is awesome.. I had the Mexican mocha.. I will definitely come here again.
I’ve been a client to Café Santana since it’s early inception-when they would only have pop-ups at the Jack London Farmer’s Market. I am a fan of their Lavender Lattes and fresh roasted drip/pour overs, and of course it’s one of my favorite spots to bite in and devour one of “Javi’s famous Empanadas.” However, I had never felt so compelled to write a review, until today-when I tried their new “Choco-Horchata Latte,” inspired & created by the childhood memories of one their newest baristas (by watching one of the most prolific family TV shows in Mexican history, El Chavo del 8 & Chapulín Colorado). I usually do not enjoy any horchata lattes since in my experience, they tend to be extremely sweet and loose the coffee flavor, consequently I was apprehensive about trying this magnificent latte. I’m glad the barista, Celeste, pushed me to try something new. The minute I sipped into this heart warming drink, I was transported back to my childhood living room watching Chavo del 8, sipping into my hot chocolate Ibarra and smelling the freshly brewed coffee in my home. The flavors are perfectly blended without loosing their distinct flavor of their signature expresó blend. This is definitely my new go to latte. If you want a heartwarming delicious experience with coffee, you won’t regret ordering this latte. Note: I ordered my drink without syrup.
Nice little cafe with some Latin American offerings. Great empenadas, Mexican mochas, horchata latte as well as the usual products. Books for kids and adults to read, local artists on the walls. Free WiFi. Clean and friendly staff.
Met a friend for coffee. The Lavender Latte was delicious. The service is not fast but the vibe is happy and quality excellent!

Favorite coffee spot in the neighborhood. I've been buying a bag of grounds and enjoying my homemade cup in the mornings, but like to treat myself in the café too :-) I love a slice of the chocolate bundt cake, and an empanada or bagel are always great for a quick bite. Atmosphere is chill and I can usually find a table to do some work. Also, they are always playing fantastic music!
Excellent coffee. My sister loved her chai latte. Wonderful neighborhood spot.
Good coffee, quick service, friendly staff. Enjoyed coffee midday and found accommodations comfortable enough to sit, talk, and sip coffee.
Nice prices for whole beans. Coffee is consistently delicious. Staff has changed recently. They are efficient, but not exactly friendly. The owner is one of the nicest people in the industry and really knows his stuff. It's worth the drive to get beans.
Great local coffee shop. Employees were friendly and the coffee was tasty. They aren't particularly fast, but that's how it goes with the small neighborhood shops. I'd go back.
Totally stumbled upon this place while driving home from Oakland Airport. I refuse to drink at mainstream coffee spots. This place did not disappoint, the service, food and coffee were all on point. I live out of town or else this spot would be my go too. Highly recommend.

Cafe Santana is a great local cafe that roasts their beans onsite! Always great espresso and brewed coffee. Lots of great coffee bean choices to take home and try to reproduce the drinks made at the cafe...
Coffee/drinks are good but way overpriced…over $8 for a flavored, alternative milk. I haven’t tried any of the food but the pastries are bad. The service is also just ok.
The espresso shot took all of 15 seconds and didn't extract enough, i.e. not brewed well. The cold brew was thin and lackluster. The empanadas were ok. Not worth a 15 minute drive when you're on your coffee discovery journey, but good enough if you're close by and just need caffeine.

The espresso blend is great when it’s pulled correctly. I used to love this place until I found out they take tips every time an employee makes a mistake and they are too afraid of getting a write up from the owner! Not a little here or there; at times more than half of their tips! Instead of being coached on how to do it properly, they usually just make a mistake and seem afraid to share it because of the penalization and scolding from their boss. Very disappointing information to learn. Will not be tipping or visiting as frequently as before.
The guy behind the counter was nice. But the chai was insanely weak, mostly just a cup of hot milk, and the ham & cheese melt was just dry break with deli ham and some cheese that was not remotely melted. It was not even hot.

I had a really frustrating experience at this coffee shop. Not only did the staff have no idea what a basic ‘long black’ is, but even after consulting the barista, they managed to mess up my order. It’s honestly disappointing and shows a real lack of training and professionalism. I’d suggest going somewhere else if you want your coffee made right
